    Birthday gelato
    Lily D.

The service was amazing from the host to the very end of dinner. It was a very kid friendly place with lots of families dining in. We went on a Saturday and there was happy hour all day. The best thing was the chocolate gelato. It was an intense chocolate flavor with nice crunch of hazelnuts. Cauliflower cacio e Pepe was a little overcooked for me that the cauliflower didn't really have a bite. The steak frites had a little smoky flavor, I think it just lack some flavor. The cheese curds were dusted in cheddar powder which was a nice touch for something different.

We went here to celebrate a birthday. The hostess was very kind and grabbed us an extra table since we had a couple more people added on to our reservation. Service was great, our waitress was attentive and explained the menu to us. We were happy to find out they had all day happy hour on Sundays so we ordered pretty much everything on the happy hour menu. Everything was pretty good except some items were kind of salty or not much flavor. Brussel sprouts were delicious! Cauliflower was loaded with cheese, it was just ok. Chicken wings were salty, wish there was some other sauce to go with it, the sauce it came with didn't have much flavor to complement it. There was not a lot of cinnamon flavor coming through. The caviar was just ok, we were expecting more from it but we also don't eat caviar ever so not sure if that's just the norm. Oysters were small but decent. They were fresh. The sauce that came with it was not delicious, plain Tabasco and lemon would've been better. Cheese curds were crispy and hot! Delicious! Salmon tartare was just ok. The bread was not crisp and didn't add much to the flavor. I didn't love it. Our group does not drink regularly so we tried the non alcoholic snowbird and it wasn't really for me. Others in the group liked it. It still tasted "strong" even though it's non alcoholic. My main was the elote burger and it was probably the best thing I had there. Others in the group said it wasn't for them but they don't normally order that type of stuff. There was so much flavor and I loved the corn. The chipotle mayo was the perfect amount of spice for me. My kids enjoyed their burger and fries and chicken strips and fries. They ate the whole plate! The steak frites are good, tender and flavorful. Wish there was more of it for the price. The gelato was free for celebrating a birthday and it was delicious! Overall it was a great atmosphere and we had great service. The table was a bit tight but that was our fault for having more people. The bill ended up being around $350 so we will only be back for special occasions! Pretty pricey for what we got.

A Surprisingly Stellar Experience: Simple Pleasures Shine at Dexter's Overall Rating: Dexter's isn't where I usually go, yet stopping by last time - just for fries and lemonade - ended up way better than I thought it would. I walked in wanting a fast fix, no big deal, just something salty and cold to hit the spot. Instead, I got food that felt cared for, served with a vibe that made me want to stay awhile. Simple stuff, sure - but done right, you notice every bite. Right when I walked in, Dexter's vibe hit me strong. Not too loud but full of life - modern, though never cold or off-puting. People talking, moving around, gives it a busy glow while still feeling cozy. Sharp layouts everywhere, nothing messy, just smooth shapes and nice touches that make hanging out here natural. One of those spots where time slips by without noticing. The experience only made things feel even better. I went with something simple--just fries and a drink--but the team kept their energy up and stayed engaged. Some looked puzzled by our choice to keep it light. My brother just ordered fries too, but his got delayed because the staff thought we were sharing as a start to our meal. This made him feel slightly out of place ordering his meal, but the staff moved quickly to get his order, checking in on him with a warm vibe that felt genuine, like they actually cared. That kind of attention, even when you're not dropping big money, shows what this place is really about - keeping every guest happy, no exceptions. Then came the fries. Wow - those fries! Though just "basic food," Dexter's made them stand out. Cooked spot-on: crunchy outside, soft within, flavor balanced well. Not too oily at all, plus you could tell they were made with real attention. A cool, tasty glass of lemonade made it just right - simple but satisfying. Shows how good stuff and doing things with detail turns plain dishes into something worth remembering. Even though I just popped in for a small meal, Dexter's ended up surprising me more than expected. They clearly care about making folks feel welcome - no matter what's on the plate. A fresh-looking space mixed with sharp attention to detail makes it stand out. What impressed me most was how helpful they stayed - even when asked for something basic. Honestly? Worth trying if you're tired of the same old spots. Dexter's shows how good they are by making every little thing feel special. I'll definitely return.

I watched a college football game here with a couple buddies and it was a real blast. Great beers on tap, big tvs but a nice, luxurious atmosphere. The seats are comfy, the tables are hard wood and the bathrooms are still top notch. I really enjoyed the overall vibe and burger, but I noticed they'd taken off the triple onion burger. That burger was one of my absolute favorites and I missed it so much which is unfortunately why I had to take a star away because please bring it back it's not the same without it !! Great service as always and even when it's hopping like it was on a Saturday night when i was there. Make sure to check resy for reservations ahead of time to avoid this !

Enjoyed the lovely patio at Dexter's on a beautiful late morning. We were the first in at 11 AM when it opened. The pergola kept the sun off us reasonably well. Also a nice big screen TV to see college football on a Saturday was a plus. The Caprese toast (for 2 people max) and roasted cauliflower Parmesan cream (good sized portion) appetizers were pretty good. The fried chicken thigh sandwich was very good, but also pretty spicy with the Sereno slaw. It comes with chips but for $4 you can substitute for fries (putting the sandwich with fries at $21). The bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich (only $12) was also very good and comes with chips. The bacon in the sandwich was perfectly cooked and had an exceptional flavor. Service was friendly and helpful, but not very attentive. The iced tea is really delicious but comes in a small glass and it was very difficult to get refills when needed. It was also a pretty long wait between our starters and our entrées despite only a few people at the restaurant. Guess you can't be in too much of a hurry on a Saturday.

#1 way to get me jolly for the holidays: take me to a dang jingle bar I won't lie, despite a reservation, we experienced a pretty long wait to get anything on the table. that will explain why I unfortunately ate first and the phone came late. however, once it came to their attention, the manager handled things swiftly and beyond accordingly. we SO appreciated that and it's the customer service at places like these that make or break and experience--so, they've got that covered. so while it might've been a long dinner, the company was worth it, the food exceeded expectations & the jingle bar atmosphere was packed and festive all around us. if I can find the time to come back, I absolutely will. one of my personal favorites for jingle bars in town!! our s: $4/piece, best deal in town -- didn't however taste as good as the last. could just be seasonal. the curds -- sooooooo yummy. spicy rigatoni alla vodka -- finally a spicy in MN that actually has a kick, would order again... and again. Dexter burger -- a classic and repeatedly delicious bite!

The happy hour here is amazing! We went on a Thursday evening and easily got a table, but the patio filled up by 6:30. The cheese curds were tasty, but the orange cheese powder dusting was unexpected. The salmon tartare and cinnamon wings were great. The cacio e Pepe cauliflower were a little soggy and not my favorite. The brussel sprouts were a stand out dish and were the best I've ever eaten. The make up make out cocktail was also delicious. Our server was so nice and we loved the patio!

    Dexter and Truffle mushroom burgers.
    Vee V.

I throughly enjoyed the burgers. The Dexter is a classic cheeseburger, simple, done perfectly. The truffle mushroom, whoa, the madeira ju was everything! Both were full of flavor, meaty, salty, juicy, hot, soft bun, crispy pickle...I got what I needed. The waffle appetizer with trout roe was good, but I'd skip the $5 add on roe. The waffle and sour cream overpowered the roe, but the waffle and sour cream its self was a great balance of fried and fresh. The decor was modern, open space, bright. It was nice. Street parking was easy. Service was fast and friendly. Not much more you can ask for or should need.

Highly recommend Dexter's! Really impressed with the salmon tartare, espresso martini, and Dexter burger. Staff was super friendly, only down fall is the parking isn't great on weekend evenings

My friend and I chose this new to us spot on 50th. They have their own parking lot which was a plus in my book. We arrived at 220pm on Saturday and were seated almost immediately and started perusing the menu. The host came back over and told us the brunch menu was actually going until 3 so we chose a breakfast sandwich and shakshuka. Both items were great and had a lot of flavor. (The shakshuka could use more sauce) but the bread and veggies were wonderful. We sat and chatted for hours and were very well taken care of. I would definitely return for a date night and try the dinner menu!

We dropped into Dexters at 5:00 for a bite and several cocktails. I was underwhelmed by the decor and surprised that a Del Prado restaurant would be so blah. Browns and beiges dominate, and the space looks like an old elementary school with some kitchen and restaurant equipment shoved into it. We sat at the Formica bar, ordered drinks from the young staff, and checked out the American food menu. I stuck to the happy hour choices and fell in love with the potato waffles. The chicken sandwich and burger were good also. Next time, I'll try the Chicken Milanese. I liked Dexter's, especially when the vivacious Vivian, our barkeep, recognized me from Minari. My ego needs that. However, I wished Dexter had more visual style and panache. My aesthetics needs that.

This was our first visit and will certainly not be the last. We started with the onion rings and potato waffles, both absolutely delicious. The curry ketchup with the onion rings was a fantastic dip as well, probably our favorite dish of the meal. Mussels were absolutely loved and a huge portion. The small steak frites was delicious as well. Cooked as requested and a huge portion of fries, which were yum as well. The peppercorn sauce was a little pepper spicy but still good. The elote burger was also good, though would do a double patty if ordered again. The two different prices for the burgers are for either single or double patty; same for the steaks, 5oz or 10oz. Hostess stand is on the 50th Street side of the building and speaking of the hostess, she was absolutely lovely and welcoming. Service was fine There, nothing to write home about. We got lucky with a spot in the small parking lot in the back of the building but there is also plenty of street parking or a free public parking lot nearby. Another plus was the sidewalks were very clean considering it was winter. We look forward to coming back when the weather is nicer to dine on the patio.

I've been meaning to come here for awhile. There were a few burgers I was interested in and also had my eye on their wings. I ended up trying the elote burger as recommended by our server. My friend wanted to try the onion rings and we ended the meal with some passionfruit gelato. The burger was excellent. Different than I gravitate towards, but was tasty. The meat was very tender and juicy. I'd pass on the onion rings and didn't care for the truffle mayo or curry ketchup served with it. I usually like truffle, but it tasted like the fake or poor quality truffle. The passionfruit gelato was. Last minute decision, but that baby was some of the best gelato I've had. I love that flavor and it hit the spot. I will have to go back to try those other burgers and wings and of course more gelato!

Amazing elote burger - just the right amount of spicy

We were also entertained by the football and hockey games on the TVs. Our waitress was swift, but we waited a while for her to come back to cash us out after we ate. I ordered their burger with fries and a Pinot noir on the side. The burger was cooked nicely at medium well. There were several cocktails that sounded great, but a nice burger and dry red was calling to me that night. Centro is in a nice location that's near the Rosedale Mall but not all the traffic. I haven't been to this restaurant since it's been remodeled (previously Good Earth) and it's very trendy, IG worthy. Bright colors, murals on the inside/outside. It was seat yourself dining. And "scan the QR code to order". However, we did have the waiter take everyone's order because it was going to be ONE BIG BILL. Drinks came out, then we ordered food (apps for some, entrees for the rest). Great happy hour deals on drinks, and chips w/ dips. I ordered a Guava Margarita. It came in a lowball glass, garnished with a lime and spicy tajin rim. It was strong enough for me. Tattersall.... say no more! Tasted like a normal Marg, guava didn't stand out. Apps were shared. Chips were warm and salty. Guac was above average. Salsa and queso stood out more. Cool Ranch wings with ranch dip. Others loved them. I didn't taste much "Cool Ranch". Dirty Yuka fries. I got to try 1 but grabbed lots of its toppings and sauce. Don't know what a YUKA is but that was good. I would have had another if there were some left. Now my entree.. the Elote Carnitas Crunch wrap. Didn't come with any sides (rice, beans) or dipping sauce. Although I did steal some leftover Ranch from the wings. I cut it in half for easier eating and it looked beautiful. Due to the Carnitas, it was very drippy/messy/wet. I rolled up my sleeves, and made sure I had it over the plate vs my lap. It really didn't need a dipping sauce. It had some heat to it, and it built with each bite. But it was a good heat; tingly lips. Nothing on fire that made you pant or required milk. My coworker got the Cool Ranch Crunch wrap and hers was dry... and needed a dipping sauce for moisture. She used leftover queso and it was much better. Food came out in waves. Many staff helping out at the table with both bringing food out and clearing used dishes, empty glasses/ bottles. And no errors in the order. Great to see teamwork. To-go boxes were given to those in need and they looked like recycled paper/cardboard vs Styrofoam. And paper bags were given to the people with more than 1 to-go box. I would definitely return to try more items on the menu.
