We had a gift card to burn from years ago so we decided to come here with our kids "two under two" and have a little happy hour. Long story short - staff is friendly, super kind and attentive but it's really just a good spot for beers and maybe some fries or a bar food style appetizer. We got the truffle fries - plenty of them to share and really good! We also got the wings (dry rub) which were nearly $20 and so not worth it. That + 2 beers ate up our $50 gift card pretty quick. Kids behaved well, we got to drink and eat in peace, and the place was pretty open so we'll take it. Will we be back? Probably not but it was nice to experience ! read more

Came back to the pub to enjoy some more grub last Tuesday. We noticed there was a BOGO on tacos/bowls so I tried the Birria tacos. I would have loved to try the steak tacos, but they were out of steak. I wasn't overly impressed with the meat. This is the second time I've had birria meat here and both times is needed more seasoning. It was served with a side of a jus that just tasted like beef broth from a box. I will say the fries were banging. Shoe string fries are my favorite. They were piping hot and they serve enough for 3-4 people. Will be back again, but skipping the birria meat. My friend is new to the area so we thought we'd give the place a whirl for dinner Saturday night. Stopped in a little after 8:15pm. Walked in, greeted and seated right away. Restaurant wasn't too busy, but there were some tables enjoying the basketball games, drinks, and grub. Rosie was our waitress and she was attentive and kind. She even chatted with us a few minutes, sharing recommendations and her favorites on the menu. I appreciate how the menu has a large variety of items to pick from-- appetizers, burgers, pizza, pasta, etc. I think everyone could find something on the menu here. Looked like a large selection of beers, wine, and cocktails as well. I'm more of an ice water on the rocks kinda gal- very refreshing and budget friendly (*happy face*). This evening, we started with the curbs cubed. My personal favorite type of cheese curd served. I really love the cheese to breading ratio of square cheese curds- MORE cheese and those were non-greasy. I loved how these curds were served with jalapeño ranch however, the ranch had no spice whatsoever; pretty good flavoring though. We also shared the birria nachos. Portion on these nachos were large and oh so colorful. The tortilla chips are homemade and let me tell you, the MOST saltiest tortilla chips I've had in my life. Not sure if this is always the case or not, but oh man, my lips became chapped. Unfortunately, we couldn't finish the nachos because the chips were SO salty. I also thought the meat in the nachos lacked flavor. If the flavor was there in the meat and the chips weren't so salty, these would be so good. I had my eye on the salted caramel dacquoise dessert, but we were too full, so that will have to wait for the next visit. Along with the ranch chicken sandwich. This is a sports bar, many televisions throughout, good size bar, tables and booth seating, and pull tabs are offered as well. Looks like there is outdoor seating available when the weather is permitting. There are also daily specials offered which is always nice on the pocketbook. We came here for dinner on a weekend. It was only maybe half-full so we were able to get seated right away. Our server was nice but she kept coming back to ask us what we ordered. Normally I wouldn't mind but it happened first with the drinks, then the app, then the entrees.. I have compassion for her. However, she could've had a notepad or something to write orders down? Then another server brought out our food, and we had finished eating and I had to flag down our server to ask for boxes and a check. Like we didn't see our server at all during the time we were eating our food and we had to wait a while to spot her to ask her for boxes and a check. Maybe they were unstaffed that day, but it was weird and worth mentioning. I'm giving three stars because of the food. Everything was fine but not good or great. These are edible dishes but not ones we would order again and especially not for the price point! Chips and queso - chips seemed to be fried in house, which was cool. The queso was delivered room temp and we could still see whole pieces of shredded cheese on top of the dish. it was fine once mixed in properly but still was only room temp. Beef barbacoa grilled cheese - sounded sooo good on the menu! By the time it got to my table, the grease and oils from the beef had soaked into the bread. I picked it up and the whole thing fell apart. Also the beef was really fatty to the point where many bites were unappetizing and had to be discretely spit out. My partner ordered one of the fried chicken sandwiches. He said it was bland and dry, but otherwise tasted fine. He said he wouldn't order it again. read more

First time checking out the village pub today. I all the burgers sounded awesome I was torn between the sunrise burger and the mushroom Swiss. Ended up getting the dirty bird with cheese curds and the mushroom Swiss. Both were great! The chicken came in a sweet bun and was nice and juicy with a nice crisp to it. A little on the colder side but great flavors!! Loved the jalapeño ranch accompanying the cheese curds. It's a great casual place to stop. I noticed they are hiring so a little slower on the service right now but the server was very friendly and stopped back to check on us and takes me awhile to order so if all worked out. I'd definitely stop back in if I'm in the area. The pub fries were shoestrings so next time I'd probably go with another substitute you can get asparagus, soup or side salad for a small additional charge. This place looks like an Applebee's but don't be deceived, it's actually really good. They have multiple kinds of chicken sandwiches which was a big seller for me right off the bat, plus their tap list is diverse and ever changing. Their specials are always a pleasant surprise; from Hollandaise wings at brunch, to Birria tacos for dinner. Which brings me to my last and most important piece of advice: if the birria tacos are available, GET THEM. read more

To put it bluntly: food-good, service- "ehhh" (shrug). For 5:30 on a Friday, it wasn't super busy. As the night went on, more patrons came in, but it never filled as a bar is supposed to. It took a while for our waiter to find us even after another had asked if we'd been served yet. Getting drinks seemed to be more of a hassle than what was necessary. And refills didn't happen unless specifically asked, both for beer and water. The on tap selection was to be desired, but the small options to be poured were fine. Our food order eventually came, which didn't seem long since our group was very chatty, but was delivered by a young man who obviously wanted to be back in his mom's basement playing COD. We saw him 3 more times during the 2 hours we were there, each time with more disheveled and messy hair as if he was awakened to serve the food. The food was very good. We had quite a variety between the 8 of us, with the highlight being the Winner Winner. But the downside was the fries. Most of us had them and agreed they were too greasy, and the parmesan fries weren't worth the added cost. The coleslaw was, however, nice and creamy. Nothing special, just classic. We eventually received the check, and all left with the same opinion: if you have the time, the food isn't too bad, just don't expect speed. read more

We went 2 consecutive nights. The first visit was outstanding! I had the barbicoa grilled cheese and others in my party loved it. Service was great so we went back. The second night was much different. The service was really bad, slow to get drinks and the food was sub par. Crab cakes had, pineapple, some kind of sauce and were just not good. I had Nashville hot chicken, not good either, overcooked and too much seasoning. It was a dry rub and didn't even taste like Nashville hot or anything near what I've had before. We were looking for a Tavern with a good burger, and this place was close on the map, so we went. I was expecting an old, dark pub with a few old-timers at the bar...but no! This is a new-looking building with a very nice facade and interior, lots of parking, and a large outdoor area with umbrella tables. We sat inside in a comfy booth. The mood was friendly with lots of large screens for sports later in the evening, and a broad selection of beers. We had excellent burgers with the BEST fries I've had in a while - SUPER-shoestring fries, skinnier than McD's. It's worth the trip just for those. New to the area and determined to the local eats in walking distance, I thought I'd give this place a try. While the food wasn't too bad for a pub/grill kind of place, the service was really freakin' lacking. The waitress was sweet enough but it should never take THAT long to get waited on not for food to get to the table when a place is not even half full!! It just shouldn't! I've waitresses. I've cooked. I've managed in the food industry. It's understandable when a place is packed or has a lot of specialty gourmet dishes but for fairly common American food dinning- there is no excuse. The pros: -They had soccer going on a Sunday. I prefer that over other sports (uhh, looking at cute guys in shorter shorts with amazing legs and buns? Heck ya!) - They have some good fries substitutes. Asparagus and sweet potato fries being two of them. I love asparagus and I like eating healthier. So kudos on that option! (Even if there was a few woody pieces I didn't eat). -It's clean and more modern feeling. No hole in the wall dive feel here. -Bocce Ball leagues/tournament! I like seeing when a place offers something uniquely different. -Plenty of free parking. -Really good burger! They also touted as having a great selection of tap beers. I tried 3 different ones, didn't like any of them and no decent dark beer offered. (WTH?) So for those of you that are a bit more selective on craft beers- their selection was mediocre. read more

Great patio! Quick place for lunch. Good service. My co-workers and I decided to have lunch. We went to this place because it had great outdoor seating, a number of options, close vicinity to work and great service. I got the tacos. One of my coworkers did as well. There were three types, shrimp, pork and beef. I got the beef and my coworker got the pork and traded. Both types were pretty good. Both tacos had a number of toppings, including deep fried jalapenos. As much as I love jalapenos, the deep fried jalapenos didn't really do much for the flavor. There are actually very bland. Maybe pickled jalapenos might have been better or even fresh ones. All things considered, it's a pretty good place for lunch. Nice patio when the permits and good service. read more

About every two years I stop at The Pub and give them another try. Tonight decided to stop in for dinner with the family and was reminded in the first few minutes why I don't come here. The food is over priced and the service is lazy. After ordering my beer, I was brought the wrong one. When I asked, I was told that I said the mango, not the stout. I can guarantee you that I have never ordered a fruit beer in my life. We got our appetizer; no forks, napkins, or plates. I had to scrounge up utensils from other tables. We used our menus as plates. Dinner arrived and food was cold. When we brought it up to server, she was short and said ok. $89 for dinner. Never coming again. read more

Not great. Too many employees hanging out at the bar after shift which distracted from the attention of the servers. There was also a man with a waxed mustache at the bar (also an employee) dropping profanity's for all to hear. He also engaged with making fun of a customer after he had left. Not a great environment if your looking for a place to have a beer and watch the game. This place used to be great. Unfortunately it has gone down hill. been coming here for years but recent events have me questioning my choice. a week ago my appetizer not only came partially through the main meal but was obviously a smaller portion and I noticed a group of workers getting and eating some at the same time. if nothing else really bad optics. last night as we were leaving the bartender loudly, enough for the rest of the bar to hear, yelled that I owed him for a drink. I am visiting on business from out of town, and was taken here by some business associates. It was a great experience, both with the food and the customer service. Being an out of towner, and working in the food industry, I had asked my colleagues what was a dish known about the area, and they explained the "Jucy Lucy" is something that is from the area. Although not currently on their menu, the waitress heard us talking about it, and was nice enough to ask the chef to make some for us. He did, and it was really a great burger. Went here late Thursday night. Service wasn't great. Napkins and silverware would have been a nice touch with our drinks or food. Ordered the Royale with Cheese for $12. Flavorless burger on a soggy bun. I had to cover it in ketchup to taste something. Had the Chicken Tortilla Soup, which was good. BF had the Big Kahuna. He said it also wasn't very flavorful besides the canned pineapple that was on it. His fries were good. A plus was that a 10 oz goblet of Surly Smoke was only $6. Village Pub is pretty much your typical neighborhood pub; plenty of TV's to catch up on the game, pub trivia, pulltabs, plenty of drink specials and a fairly bar food centric menu all served up in a laid back environment. Admittedly, their tap selection isn't bad for a place that I assume sells more Miller Lite than anything else. They have around sixteen beers on draught; made up of various local and regional craft breweries with a few of the larger macro breweries thrown in as well. The menu contains many of the usual suspects; burgers, nachos, wings and mostly other pub grub, though they do make an effort to provide some unique touches on some of their dishes and there are a few options for vegheads as well. Overall, it's satisfactory food at satisfactory prices. Service has always been friendly and if nothing else they also have a bocce court, so it's not a bad spot to stop off for a cold one if you're in the area. read more

Found this place on the internet, stopped by since I was 2 blocks away. Sat at the bar. Ordered a Gull Dam Raspberry Wheat Beer on tap, it is an incredibly refreshing brew! With it I had the Sourdough Melt. Thick toast slices, tender beef, bacon, tomatoes, great sandwich. Came with fresh cut fries. Glad I found this pub, definitely shall return! read more
