A very unassuming counter-service dive bar that specializes in pizza and is open late. All of that is good, and the pizza I ordered was quite tasty. A few quibbles, though: first, I felt the pizza was a little light on the added protein/veg toppings and heavy on the cheese, making it feel unbalanced (I'll definitely ask for less cheese next time); second, the beer menu is short on darker options; and third, the bathroom was unclean and a bit foul-smelling on the night I was here. Now that expectations are calibrated, I'm in a position to enjoy it more next time... p.s. The Canadian in me appreciates that they offer shrimp as a topping! Pre covid easily one of the greatest hidden gems in Minneapolis. Vibes were awesome even when it was pretty empty and the food was outstanding. First time back since covid and it's still fun just the food is incredibly average dive bar food which is fine but not what it used to be. I had the chopped cheese and cheese curds and the chopped cheese was muddling and the curds were not many and worse than Culver's. Hope they get it back together. read more

A very casual pub with friendly staff right in the middle of downtown Minneapolis. The pizza and the wings are great; not "come to MN just for this," but they are guaranteed to satisfy. They had other bar food options I did not try, but I saw many empty plates and happy tummies. I stopped in when the Wolves were in the NBA finals. It was noisy, busy, and I still found a seat. The regulars were happy to chat about their home team triumphs and tribulations or anything else. I went to Dan Kelly's after a Vikings game and it was packed! I came with a large group and we somehow scored a table. Shockingly we got service quickly and continued to receive great service throughout the night as the post game rush slowly died down. Came in town for the Chiefs game and arrived around 7:30 on Friday night. We were staying at The Rand and there isn't a ton of options right there that are open but my hubby found this place. We ordered at the bar, had wings, beers and pizza. Grabbed a table in the side room with a great view of a large tv tuned into the Oklahoma State game just for us. The food was pretty good, having to keep running back to the bar was a little annoying but the bartenders were really nice, good beer selection. Overall it was a good choice for a late Friday evening meal to kick off our weekend. read more

We come here every time we are in town - it never disappoints . Food is always good and staff is always friendly.

Do not order food for delivery if you want your food. I have an email (which has been shown to employee on duty and also emailed to the manger) showing that my food would be delivered to my adress. Door Dash (the website does not inform you that they contract unregulated gig workers if you order delivery) brought my food to the wrong adress. I informed the driver that he was at the wrong place and he left my food outside and marked it as handed off. I called Dan Kelly's and the employee was unhelpful and said she had no record of my order and it was a Door Dash problem. I ordered through the Broadway app. I brought my confirmation email to the bar and showed her so she'd know I was telling the truth. Her tune changed after I showed her the message. She gave me an email address for her manager Al so I could forward him my confirmation email. I was told I would get a response from Al and a refund. I have not. Save your time and money. There are plenty of capable restaurants, and this is not. read more

5-11-23 Everywhere online and in person said this was burger bar place but when I went last night there was no burger on the menu and everything else was not appealing to what I wanted. So I had the fish and chips well the fish were the kind you can buy at the store just awful and unimpressed there was so little fish them that felt like I was eating a hard batter but the fries were good. I had an ice tea which was not made in house but came from a dispenser from the bar wand. Not impressed. First time visiting Minnesota and the hotel recommended them for their burger. So far the food I have had in Minneapolis is awful hoping tonight will be better. The staff was friendly though that's the 2 stars. read more

After working next door to Dan Kelly's for so long, it was hard to see it as anything but a place for happy hour or sales lunches. When The Smokin' Hubs and I took a stroll in search of dinner, he suggested that we stop in. I never remember how dark this pub is until I step in and carefully mind where I'm walking. The decor is authentic and makes you feel as if you've landed in County Cork on the Emerald Isle. Then the heavy metal music gains your attention and the image is lost somewhat. Unless we're in a large group we enjoy sitting at the bar, which we did. The barkeeper was attentive with the drinks (the beer list is impressive and tilts well toward local brews) and gave us a few moments to review the menu. The aforementioned music may have been the reason for my order being incorrect. Rather than be angry, our server/barkeep quickly remedied the discrepancy, so I'll continue the review as if everything was fine on the first try. :^) We ordered the Deviled Eggs as a starter. I don't know why we do this, since we make them at home fairly often and are usually disappointed with the restaurant versions. That said, the yolk filling was more than generous and the curry ketchup definitely helped this appetizer up and over the top. At $2.50 (happy hour pricing, mayhaps?) they were a tasty starter. The Smokin' Hubster ordered bangers, which thrilled him once he learned that they were smoked on-site (as you can tell, smoking is his thing). He had a silly grin through most of dinner, telling me more than once that the sausages were very flavorful. Of course, I had my own on my Irish Breakfast platter, but his version of the quality was much more emphatic. My breakfast was complete with black and white pudding, as well as grilled tomatoes (my favorite breakfast side). We'll be back, I'm sure. Great pizza but the drinks are crazy expensive. My husband ordered 3 1 shot bullet rye drinks with ginger ale and they charged us $16 each for them! What a rip off!!! This is a dive bar and a basic drink. When I complained to Alex the bar tender her said sorry. There is nothing we can do about this. I won't go back because I feel totally ripped off. Too bad. We had a work group in town for a meeting. Walked down the street to Dan Kelly's Pub, hoping for good food and drinks. We had the rudest, crabbiest bartender I have ever experienced. She had a belly shirt on, with a necklace that said Weirdo. Should have been our first clue this was not going to be good. Never smiled...acted like it was an inconvenience to take our drink orders. But we gave it our best shot and tried to order drinks. It took about 20 minutes to have her come to our table for an order. We had some beer orders, and 3 easy cocktails (vodka and sprite with limes). She brought them to the table...extremely strong, no limes. We asked if we could please get more sprite added. Apparently that is a huge inconvenience. She brought them back and literally slammed them down on the table, almost sliding across the table. Still no limes. We decided to order a couple appetizers against our better judgment, but some people were still drinking their beer. We asked for 3 orders of cheese curds. We were brought one order, with approximately 10 curds in the basket. We mentioned to the server that we had 2 more coming, and he said "Did you ask for 3 orders?" Ummm, yes. He went to the bartender who took our order and discussed with her. So we finally got our other orders with a bigger quantity, as it should have been in the first place. The server actually brought us our limes, which was nice, after an hour. He was very good at customer service. The crabby bartender was nice the last 2 minutes of our stay, because we were signing the tab. Needless to say, we left and went to Lyons Pub which was 100 times better with food and service. We will not be back and I would recommend Lyons Pub anyone! read more

My family and I visited Minneapolis during Aquatennial week, on Thursday night we ended up at this bar with very poor service we sat down and waited at least 10 minutes for help until finally someone from the kitchen helped us and gave us food recommendations with a very good attitude, after a few minutes the bartender approached our table with a very arrogant attitude to tell us that it was bar service only, we asked for drink refills and she never brought any drink refills or even checked with us, there was another person helping other tables and carrying their food but no one ever checked with us other than the cook. For our receipt we had to wait even longer until we had to go up to the bar to ask for our bill, again she gave us the bill with a very bad attitude the food was delicious but the service that this bar provides is terrible DO BETTER. read more

I've been here twice now. One year apart between visits. I'm flabbergasted at how it's at a 4-star review level. Seriously. The first time we came here (2018), we had a full lunch and drinks. The food was decent for bar food, but the service was spotty. It was also almost empty--should have been a warning. This visit was just for drinks. We went in and again, the place was almost empty. Why didn't we heed that warning? We sat down at the bar where one bartender was very engrossed in something with the cash register. Super engrossed. Ignoring us engrossed. Another bartender made his way over to take our order. I asked him about some of the ingredients in one of their featured craft cocktails. He knew nothing about the drink. So, that didn't get ordered. Went with a Bulleit mule figuring it's hard to mess that up. It was decent. But...more about this bartender. Nice enough guy, but who comes to work wearing a flimsy wife-beater tank top in 2019? Yeah, all those tattoos are impressive and yeah, you put on quite a "gun show" when you hoisted up those couple of Coors Light six-packs. But, in an age when food servers have to wear caps or hair nets, how is it possible for a dude to have his armpit hair flailing all over my drinks? I came for a good cause and of course had to order the burger because that's just what I do. The Forsburger was advertised as having two thin patties. Well, these were anything but thin. Super thick, juicy, perfectly cooked patties between two lightly toasted buns and smothered with herb mayo and American cheese The veggies added a nice freshness which I usually go without. I ate half without them comparing it to other top notch "meat and cheese only" burgers. It stood up to the competition but wouldn't crack my top contenders in MN. Nice place! We went here with a group of 40 college students for a semi-formal. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and set aside a bunch of tables for us. We communicated with them before hand our orders so that it would be less hectic than trying to take the orders of 40 people at one time. It was a fun place to grab some dinner and was super convenient for us because we were staying across the street at Crowne Plaza North Star. We ordered the Mac and cheese, a chicken sandwich, a cheeseburger and a few other things and almost everyone was apart of the clean plate club!! Super tasty and warm, would recommend! We were in town for a hockey game and this was a couple blocks from our hotel. We were seated right away and placed our drink orders as well as an order of cheese curds and a pizza. The cheese curds came out and they were amazing. We were busy talking and not paying attention to the time. Our waitress came out and apologized for the wait on the pizza and offered to comp the cheese curds and a beer. We weren't looking for anything for free. Once the pizza came out all we could say was fabulous. We had the Primo and it had so much flavor. They were playing great classical music that wasn't so loud we couldn't hold a conversation. This place was a cute little pub that we decided to check out on superbowl weekend. I ended up ordering the french dip and some good old fashioned french fries. The flavor of the fries was actually amazing. The french dip was covered with fried onions which I am not a giant fan of, but after scraping a bunch off... The sandwich was good to go. The service was decent. It wasnt the best service i had ever had but deffinatly sweet and to the point. I was impressed with the mellow feel of the enviorment here. The bartender acted like he didn't want us in there at 8:30 pm, that was the first sign. The other thing we noticed was the "death to all white people" non-mainstream hip-hop that was playing rather loud. Not cool. Especially at an Irish themed place. We drank our beer "college fast" and got the hell out of there. I have only been to one other place in my life that was worse. -2 out of 5. Oh yeah, rather dead on a Friday night too.
