Stopped here for dinner on a Wednesday night. I sat at the bar. The staff was attentive and I ordered the fish and chips. The fish and chips came with coleslaw and tarter sauce. The fish was battered and was not over cooked. The chips were good. The coleslaw had no flavor whatsoever so I added vinegar salt and pepper. Overall the meal wasn't anything special it was just ok. The outside door was propped open and there were tons on like fruit flies flying around and it was pretty annoying. This was my first visit here. I would try again the next time in town. read more

Horrible service! we were in town for a baseball game and someone recommended going there. My husband and I sat down and waited. A blonde server/bartender made eye contact with us several times and we sat there for a bit. Finally, she came up and told us we needed to come to the bar to order and we said ok. That was totally fine with us we have worked in service industry for 20 years and understand different situations especially if a place is understaffed. I went up to the bar and was going to order food and drinks. The same Blonde server/bartender made eye contact with me again while she was behind the bar. she didnt come over and ask if I needed help, but instead went up to a table of a man in a suit and asked if he needed anything? i was thinking i thought you had to go the bar. We left immediately! Maybe she thought we weren't going to be worth her time because the way we dressed. Regardless, my husband and I were ready to have a fun night out for our anniversary. So I went to Dan Kelly's Pub for the purpose of just wanting to get a hamburger later in the evening. It definitely reminded me of a dimly lit Irish pub. The atmosphere was very fitting for the name. The hamburger and fries tasted very good. I would eat there again. The waitress seemed very busy, so ordering and waiting on the check took a while, but she was the only waitress in there. Irish Pub AF. Dan Kelly's is truly a gem for when you want a legit beer and bar food downtown, without a lot of douchebaggery. First off, I love the decor; lots of rich dark wood, beautiful stained glass, a lot of Irish nods (clovers, pops of green...), and even a naked Barbie doll. You'll have a good time grabbing a seat at the bar or at a table, or maybe carrying your dark beer around as you meander through the game room. Service has been efficient when I've gone, both times when it was pretty busy! They have so much Euro-comfort food on the menu like bangers & mash, scotch eggs, calcannon, fish & chips, chicken pot pie, plus a bunch of pub favorites like wings, poutine, and burgers. I haven't eaten a lot here myself, but I've heard good things! They feature a lot of local beer, including their own, specialty cocktails, and Guinness, of-freaking-course. read more

Solid Irish bar, really just a solid bar, located an easy walk from just about anywhere downtown. Kelly's get just about everything right, solid beer selections, great food (the wings are a must), personable bartenders, and an easygoing crowd. The bar's layout makes it easy to get comfortable. Usually, I'd describe the actual bar, but I forgot to upload my photos, and not sure when I'll make it back to MN, but the bar, especially the back bar, is large and incredible. Several HDTVs that are typically tuned to sports (I personally feel that Minneapolis is an underrated sports town). I've passed by Kelly's several times to The Local on Hennepin, but that won't happen again. Kelly's food is much better, and it's smaller space is more inviting than the Local (which is still a great bar). read more

We come here a lot. Like weekly. We work late and watch sports at the bar while feeling at home. They just changed the menu and we're pretty bummed cuz we loveddddd the salmon and steak. WHY?! Love the food, atmosphere & pricing at DK. Love their Irish food, dry rub wings, Philly Steak sandwich, fries are the best I've ever had. The bar is a deal when it comes to downtown drinks, hardy & cheap, beer choices are huge & most of them really good, the servers always suggest what to get with the food I order so it's always fun. Only negative is it's street parking at this location in downtown Minneapolis but everything is there. read more

Hadn't been to Dan Kelly's since prepandemic, as I don't work downtown any longer. Happened to walk past recently, and was pleasantly surprised that they now serve Broadway Pizza products. Don't need to ask me twice to stop in. It was happy hour, and they had some of their regular food items and Broadway Pizza items at a discount. Ordered some pizza and cheese curds and very much enjoyed the tasty flavors that only Broadway Pizza can offer. Only bummer, they were out of Summit Pale Ale, asked for an equivalent, to the surprising tune of $8.00, at happy hour. A week later, ran into a Canadian couple in for the baseball game and suggested Dan Kelly's for a visit. Hope they went and enjoyed the pizza or their American and Irish themed food. Service was decent as there were not many people there, and the dimly lit decor is the same as it has been for decades so you feel the nostalgia of past libations and happy hours. read more

This place has been hit or miss. Been coming here over 25 years when in town. Menu change a few years back that I think was due to change in ownership. Food is acceptable for an Irish Pub. Not great. Service is what is so unpredictable. Sometimes it's fantastic, other times I've sat there at the bar, yes , at the damn bar, for 10 mins, and no one said hello or acknowledged me. Bar had maybe 60% capacity. I got up, took a moment to put on my jacket, and left. No one even said anything. Also added an "employee wellness" charge to the check. WTF is that. I'm done. It was hard for me to give only 3 stars. We stopped in the afternoon on fri. The waitress was amazing. We ordered drinks, cheese curds, and deviled eggs. The foods was wonderful. Cheesecurds were the best . We went back at night same day about 10 pm. The drink size was 1/3 of the glass size for the same price. Was told it had same amount of booze, it tasted no different. First time visit after a long travel day. Intimate Irish pub setting with lots of privacy. Great service and many fun choices on menu. We walked on the wild side and sampled three of their appetizers. Fried smelts with curry infused ketchup, veal classic sliders, and a beautiful roasted beet salad. Braced by several of the wonderful craft beer selections, it was a delightful repast and a pleasant afternoon. By all means end your meal with the hot bread putting ala mode. read more

They have a larger party room for bigger groups, booths, high tops and a good sized bar. I typically order fish and chips when I go here and haven't tried much else but haven't heard anyone I've been with complain. I've been meaning to hit the new Dan Kelly's since I heard about the renovation in January. I love Republic, so I was excited to hear that the same guys are now running this place. Plus I love Irish pubs. We met up with some friends from out of town last night. I wasn't disappointed. The atmosphere is dim and cozy. The beer list is fantastic. Among us, we tried the pub burger, the turkey burger, the fish and chips, the corned beef and the bangers and mash. Everyone was quite impressed by the food. Service was also excellent. I work in the neighborhood, so the old Dan Kelly's was an inevitable staple of lunches and happy hours. And I have to say, WOW. What an upgrade! This new Dan Kelly's has preserved what was good about the old decor, added a modern menu with an Irish focus, and tried to do everything from service to food to drinks better. It has succeeded. The lunch service was friendly and prompt. The food was a notch above similarly priced offerings in the area. The menu is approachable with just enough adventure. Loved my experience. Tried this place for the 2nd time, a year later. Arrived around 3pm, place was totally dead. Probably should have followed my gut to turn around when I saw the "bartender" was wearing a wifebeater with a skeleton hand giving me the finger and his hat backwards. But, we stuck around. Bartender didn't seem to have any recommendations, and probably spent more time than we did looking at the drinks on the menu to see what was in them. Seems like the Coors Light tallboys we saw him loading in the fridge are probably what's he's used to serving. I orderd a Baker's neat, received a Maker's neat. Dan Kelly's is BACK! Lots of hand changing with this joint, but it feels like it's really found its stride. Dan Kelly's is a serious downtown hidden gem. I don't even want to tell you about it. Its a cozy, quiet pub with actually great food (Fish balls! Just trust me...)and a solid beer list. They also had some good looking cocktails on tap, but I haven't tried them. They have a happy hour from 3-7 (daily!) and are open 7 days a week (they used to be closed Sundays, lameeee) Dan Kelly, wherever and whomever you are, you're a good son of a bitch. read more

We went in yesterday to grab a quick bite. It was the closest place to where we were . It was about 10:45 am. The door was open and there was a sign that said, "Please seat yourself," which we did. 5 minutes later the server came to our table and asked us to leave because they weren't open for another 10 minutes. Why would you kick us out just 10 minutes before you open? Walked down to another reataurant who said that they weren't open for another few minutes but they seated us and gave us menus anyways. read more

I had the colcannon. It's not really a casserole. It's roasted vegetables over mashed potatoes. The person with me had the fish and chips. They were pretty greasy. We shared dry-rubbed chicken rings.
