Large windows to let light into the bar and dining area.

A wonderful neighborhood bar. It has many tap and full bar. The food is great. They have specials daily. The bar area and restaurant area are great booths, bar seating and booths. A highlight is their patio area. Beautifully designed with enjoyment. It has a heaters, fireplace and plastic cover to keep out the weather. Wonderful for 3 seasons without pests. Excellent staff and their buffalo cauliflower which is my favorite . Kid friendly.

    Updated interior.

Came here every time i visited and now that i live here i often forget how fun this place is. Great beer list on tap and sodas for the non beer drinkers this old school bar has amazing jucy lucy's with crinkle cut fries and some killer cheese curds and fried pickles. They have remodeled and added parking its a great lunch or dinner when in St Paul!

Came on a Friday night because it wasn't too busy and got a veggie burger! This was my first time trying a non meat burger and it wasn't bad! I really like their appetizers, especially the buffalo cauliflower wings. If you're looking for some decent bar food and a chill vibe, check this place out!

I have been a fan of the blue plate restaurants around town, and I was excited to check another one off my list. This location is a different vibe from their other businesses - more relaxed and small town bar and grill feel. I found the inside to be very eclectic, with old pull tabs on the wall and arcade games located throughout. The service was great, as always with blue plate locations. The food was slightly less sophisticated as compared to my other blue plate favorites, like Longfellow and Highland. The turkey burger was still fantastic, as always. Wonderful location in Groveland neighborhood - street parking is best.

Legit neighborhood pub. Great cheese curds, great queso fundido! Strong burgers, just nothing wrong with this joint. Classic vibe with beer tab on all walls. Service was prompt and timely.

Food was good, but menu didn't have a lot of variety, Good fit for the neighborhood - comfortable and friendly spot to hand out with friends and get a drink. Decor and furnishings are a little dated, but service is attentive. Ordered a NA wine, a milkshake, nachos, a burger, and the daily special. Wine frizzante was served chilled in a wine glass. The black cherry milkshake was sweet and creamy but was cherry syrup mixed in soft serve vs cherry ice cream. The chicken nachos were very good - nachos were crisp, chicken was tender and flavorful, pico and sour cream were cold. The daily special that day was pot roast special was a large portion of pot roast served with baby carrots, a biscuit, and mashed potatoes with a well of gravy. The beef was fork-tender and had a tasty rich flavor. The Ellsworth Lucy burger was well-cooked, well-seasoned, and flavored well. We had sweet potato tots on the side which came with a chipotle sauce. The tots had great texture - soft inside with crisp exterior, and the chipotle sauce was creamy with a nice kick.

On the hunt for an authentic Juicy Lucy led us to Groveland Tap on a hot summer day in the Twin Cities. The ambiance is that of a pretty standard sports bar anywhere in America, but maybe on the slightly nicer side - this is no dive. It's clean and welcoming inside, and on a hot day it was very chilly indoors so since their patio was shaded we took our meal out back, which was actually lovely. Three of us ordered burgers and I got the poutine. Something I love about travelling further north in the Midwest is you're treated to more cheese curds and the influence of Canadian fare, such as poutine. Why this hasn't caught on as much as far south as KC is strange to me, I mean, who doesn't love french fries, cheese curds, and gravy? Seems like a no brainer. At any rate, aside from our entrees we all decided to share an appetizer of fried cheese curds, and sample some local brews. The highlight of this meal to me were the cheese curds and the local blueberry beer I sampled. All of the other food was good, but not remarkable, in my opinion. The cheese curds though, those were damn good. Lightly battered and fried they were light and chewy, just as they should be. I feel like especially when you don't live up north it's much easier to find sub par cheese curds, and I don't know if this is just the quality to expect in MN, but they were insanely good. If I lived here I don't know if this place would be in my usual rotation for dinner or lunch, but it would certainly be a good contender for a happy hour as I think the stars here are really the appetizers and selection of local beers.

They love to disrespect their neighbors by having their deliveries block parking spaces, the alley and garages. (Which is illegal btw)

The employees are amazing. The management is the worst! They don't respect the neighbors at all! They instruct their delivery drivers to deliver and park in the alley and on the apartment next door private property. Neighbors can't get into their garages or out of their parking spaces! Of course, they have to keep their parking lot and spaces open so they can maximize profits! And they've had the police called many times for noise complaints, as they have companies use loud pressure washers to clean differnt things, usually between 10-2am. Of course, it can't be during a time they are making their $$. The tiny sign on the front door that says respect our neighbors is a total joke. This is no longer the kind, hole in the wall it use to be. Just another cookie cutter please to have a beer and a basic $20 burger and fries. Tens years went from 5/5 to 1/5. It's sad honestly.

    Pierogi's

The food was great! Cheeseburger for the hubby and I got the pierogi's. They were delicious! Parking at this place is a bear, even though the do have their own lot and street parking. By the time we left there were quite a few people waiting to get in. It was good, but I probably wouldn't wait for a table. Bartender was friendly.

We came here for dinner before a Timberwolves. This place wasn't as packed and was able to get a table. By the time we were done with our dinner, the place was pretty full. We started off with some cheese curds. These were perfectly fried but nothing special. My wife ordered their BCO Lucy and I ordered their Cajun Lucy. Both were ok, but I didn't care for the cheese on top of the patty. While I love cheese, having double cheese might be a pit much. It takes away the flavor away from the beef on the first bite. In this case the Cajun spice that I was looking for. The cheese wasn't dripping out of these either. While the burger was still good and service was great, not sure if I'd return for a juicy. They do have an extensive beer selection, so I would probably come back for some beers and maybe a juicy.

Meh, salad was all wilted, soaked in dressing, just really unappetizing. Service also just meh. Waited forever to get acknowledged.

So much to love!…read more LIght airy feel. The tables look comfortable, but if you have a smaller group I would recommend the table overlooking the kitchen. The bar (and kitchen) staff were super helpful in picking out beverages and food. The food cocktail menu is well organized by flavor trait- such as bitter, mineral. Each category had a full, low and no alcohol. I ordered the full alcohol bitter. Reminiscent of a Negroni but still unique and quite tasty. Our server recommended ordering family style- sharing dishes. REally glad we did. We ordered ordered a few shared plates, pasta, an entree and a vegetable . Every dish was outstanding- it's hard to pick a favorite. Dessert was well worth it- the chocolate was fantastic as well. Loved everything about the meal. I will be back.

So, if you are from out of town, I'd find a local spot to hang out instead because I have made that mistake before when I go to a new spot, and usually when I travel I'd like to find something local instead of a bar in the WF! However, if you are local, and need a chill neighborhood place to hang out, I think you'd be surprised how lovely the Selby bar is. Also, it's just nice to hang out somewhere that is not too dark like a usual bar might be. First, the specials! They are amazing. They always have really, ridiculously good beer and/or wine specials. See pic. Then, in addition, there are happy hour specials 4-6 pm that offer additional deals. But the daily specials are really good so even if you are getting there before or after HH don't feel like you will miss out! They have a great selection of MN beers - usually a few surly selections, lift bridge, and others. They usually have a good variety of beer styles and sometimes a cider on draft. Then, the food: they have a menu that has burgers, including the Beyond Vegan burger, for $10 with fries. They also have some apps and different veggie bowls you can add protein to. If you were already thinking of eating at Whole Foods then you probably won't spend much more eating here but that all depends on what you like and what deals are around. I have often gotten the vegan burger and I always love it. You can also bring in some food from the Whole Foods deli but be courteous and clean up if you leave a big mess of food they didn't serve you! Finally, the staff. The bartenders are really chill. Be nice to them and tip as you would at a bar! The bar takes credit cards or cash but no Whole Foods gift cards. Be nice to the Whole Foods employees in general! Also - this WF doesn't sell beer or wine to go because of MN liquor laws, so if you want beer or wine you need to have it here!
