Pats burger with fries--check out that massive tomato!

Stopped in Pat's Tap after the wait at Hola Arepa was far too long. We opted to sit right at the bar, though there were several tables open. The bartender was great--friendly, helpful, attentive. I got the Pats Burger and my partner got the fried chicken sandwich. Honestly, it was just solid bar food. The burger was tasty, perhaps a bit well done for my taste and the chicken was spot on. Both of us thought the fries were crispy and salty!

What a fun South Minneapolis hidden gem! The ambiance is that of a dive bar, but the food is actually bomb. And the vintage skee ball is 10/10! Pat's Tap has a very classic midwestern menu with some fun twists like "currywurst" and the "Bloody Mary sandwich." Today I had the small BLT chop salad, a fried chicken sandwich, and mini donuts for dessert! The small BLT chop salad was my favorite part of the meal, with bacon, iceberg, tomato, cheddar, French and ranch. It was SO delicious and the homemade ranch was 12/10 for sure. Service was awesome and we had a super helpful waitress that recommended the mini donuts for dessert- so good!

We had a City Tin coupon which brought us to Pat's Tap. What a lovely local restaurant. We got the last table outside. Their patio is very inviting, cool and shady on a hot summer night. I chose the Harissa Chicken sandwich with homemade chips and an Urban Growler De-lovely stout. All very good. Husband had the BLT salad with chicken. Quite filling. Service was good. On street parking was a little busy but we found a spot around the corner. I needed the little walk after eating all that food anyway.

I recently went to Pat's Tap for Happy Hour and it did not disappoint! For about $20 for 3 people we got: 2 drinks, fries, cheese curds, and pretzels. I mean...come on. That's a hell of a steal! I loved the fries and thick sauce, as well as the smoked ketchup. The pretzels were slighly overdone, but still very good! I'm definitely going back. Notes: *Parking: This was the hard part. With current construction, it's difficult to find a nearby spot. Luckily I was able to grab one right out front. Just know this ahead of time. *We went on a Monday around 5:00pm and there was plenty of seating.

Shoe string fries. Excellent and addictive.

Pat's Tap is your local bar: ample space, friendly faces and a lovely patio. I stopped by because they participated in the Twin Cities Vegan Chef Challenge. I got the Southern Country Fried Seitan sandwich ($14) and loved it: beautifully-breaded seitan, an excellent bun and fresh ingredients overall. The shoestring fries were also fabulous. I hope the vegan sandwich remains on the menu permanently, because it's awesome and there are few places in the Twin Cities to get a vegan fried chicken sandwich. Pat's otherwise doesn't have any labeled vegan options, so this sandwich feels like a huge leap in the right direction. If they added a vegan breakfast sandwich, I'd stop by every week.

    Fun and casual patio!

Pats tap is unassumingly great! From the name you'd think it's just a bar but they actually have great food too. They are pretty much always short on staff but the staff in my experience is always friendly! Recently sat out on the patio on a perfect summer evening for a relaxing and low key dinner. I got a sandwich (boring order but it sounded good) and my boyfriend got the Tex mex rice bowl. We were both happy! Tap list of course is extensive and has great options. Great neighborhood spot!

Pat's is an ok place to grab some bar food and a brew. They have a decent amount of beers available and there food is ok, they usually have plenty of seating available as well. However, I've never had great service here, kind of slow. I think this is due to needing more staff though.

I got food to go, so I can only rate things on that. However, I must say that people seemed incredibly friendly there, so one could assume that the service would be pretty good. I got the Tex Mex rice bowI ($13) and having Lived in Houston, I can certainly teII you that there wasn't anything 'Tex Mex' about the dish. It was vegetarian, but offered very IittIe in terms of vegetables. It was basically just rice, beans, and eggs. The 3 puny slivers of avocado that were included were disgusting (especially when this is used as sub for meat). The pepper jam was tasty, but more sweet than it was spicy. To top it off, I asked for it to be extremely spicy, OnIy to wind up with a sweet (albeit tasty) dish. Overall, I wiII definitely not be back there to eat, but may go in to grab a beer, as the spot definiteIy did seem to have a pretty cool vibe.

We love coming to Pat's tap. They don't have 5 star food but that's not what we come for. We come for the good vibes and beer. Have had a good experience every time and the staff are awesome. I like their sandwiches. Sometimes the burger patties can be dry, but overall they're good and the fries are fresh. I would skip the zucchini cakes.

Great patio. The James Beard Blended Burger Project is one of the best burgers that I've had in awhile. It was cooked to a perfect medium. The patio is dog friendly. It was easy to find parking. Nice selection of Minnesota taps & national taps. The restaurant was out of several items, so I'm looking forward to visiting again to trying them!

    A beer !!

This is my first time here and it seems like a really nice cozy place I will definitely have to come back here again and try it again and again waiting for my appetizer at this time pictures to follow!!!!!!

The interior has that classic vintage pub feel with lots of character and natural light. There are tons of booths and different seating areas that could accommodate parties of all sizes. I especially liked the glass dividers between some of the booths, which give you a little extra privacy without making the space feel closed off. My booth also had coat hooks and easy access to outlets, which I appreciated. I could definitely see myself coming here for a working lunch. My server was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially as I was trying to figure out how to use a couple of rewards I had on my account. I specifically came in wanting to try the fish and chips. Their lunch menu offers smaller portions of several dishes from the dinner menu, including a fish and chips option for around $15. I really wanted to try the walleye, though, so I ended up ordering the full dinner portion for around $28. The fish was absolutely the star of the plate. The breading was fantastic--crunchy around the edges while still light and fluffy--and the fish inside practically melted in my mouth. The tartar sauce was also really good and paired perfectly with it. The sides, unfortunately, didn't impress me nearly as much. There were plenty of fries, but they were pretty average, and the coleslaw was mostly cabbage with a light dressing. It felt like it was missing some acidity or lime to give it a little more personality. For almost $30, I also expected the meal to be a bit more substantial. I left satisfied, but found myself hungry again a couple of hours later, so I'm not sure the dinner portion felt worth the price for me. If you're mainly curious about their fish and chips, I'd probably recommend trying the smaller lunch portion first rather than committing to the more expensive dinner version. Would I come back? Absolutely--the atmosphere, service, and location alone make The Local worth another visit, and I noticed several other dishes on the menu I'd be interested in trying. I just don't know that I'd order this particular meal again. The fish itself was excellent, but for me, the sides and overall value didn't quite match it.

On awkward waiting wondering if this is one of those places where you can just seat yourself. The place is clean and the ambiance has some very nice touches to bring intrigue. The subtle candle-like light fixture was corky and added to the charm. Prices are very reasonable! I had a good idea what I wanted prior to stopping in. Food came out quickly. Less than 10 mins. Lupia was hot and delicious. My first time having one so wilk not compare it to an egg roll. The braised beef rib was tender and juicy. I pulled out the knife but only a fork is necessary. It's a restaurant, perhaps reflecting its neighborhood, where people have an occasional beer, but George and the Dragon isn't a drinking hole. That changes the ambiance. The patrons looked well-off, but in that way in which they try hard not to look like they have money. Most of them wore clothes that made them look as if they had just come off the tennis court, or their bike, or after running a five-mile for a great cause. My wife and I still try to look nice when we go out. We don't dress down. Most of the people at George & the Dragon were in their fifties or sixties, including the servers, who were very earnest, if you know what I mean. I'm in my seventies, grew up in NYC, and still try to look hip, and I drink vodka quite often. Maybe that's why I felt uncomfortable. That decade and a half makes a huge difference in how we grew up, and what I experienced in the sixties and seventies. The food was okay, not great. The burger and chicken schnitzel tasted fair to middling. The room was also very loud, filled with exclamations from the tables of "women who lunch," feeling more comfortable with no men at their tables. That's also a demographic and Minneapolis thing. I doubt I'll return to George and The Dragon. I like bars.
