We stopped by Buffalo Tap today for the first time because I wanted to try their famous bison burger, and I'm glad we did. Right from the start, the service was excellent. We were seated immediately, and our drinks came out quickly. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome. We started with the cheese curds, and they were delicious. My bison burger was cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and definitely lived up to the hype. I really enjoyed it. My friend wasn't as impressed with his burger, but that's just his opinion. The only downside was the number of flies. I understand it's summertime and that can be hard to control, but it was noticeable enough to take away from the experience a bit. Overall, the great service and tasty food made it a place I'd come back to. Hopefully the fly situation improves because everything else was really enjoyable. read more

Buffalo Tap is one of our favorite south metro spots! Food is so good, bartenders/serving staff are fun and helpful. It has a northern MN cabin feel when you walk in. It can get busy for dinner especially on weekends, but we've never had a hard time getting a spot. Lunch, happy hour, dinner have all been great experiences. Plenty of beer on tap so there's something for everyone. Menu is large but they do a good job at it. Highly recommend if you're in the mood for chicken wings, burgers, sandwiches, or a fish fry. read more

I went here recently with my sister and uncle. I've never been here, because doesn't look like anything special from the outside. But I was surprised - the inside is kind of log-cabin-ish, and light, not dark like the outside. My sister and I ordered 2 different items and split them. She got the Blue Butcher's Burger, and I got the Spicy Parmesan Grilled Chicken Melt. Both were delicious! I was blown away by how good they were. We also ordered some fried things - sister ordered tater tots, they were a bit oily as were my fries, but the cheese curds were amazing. The service we had was good. I would go back. read more

Been driving past this place for months each day I go to work, and the sign about root beer served in frosty mugs really had me hooked on eventually going. Tonight we had an excuse to celebrate, so we went here. Well, the root beer sadly was served in mugs that were not frosty. :( Really extensive menu of burgers, sandwiches, and some dinner options too. Made it hard to pick cuz it all sounded amazing. I went for the Parmesan crusted French dip. It was decent, not like amazing tasting. Nice big serving though, I'll give 'em that; I took half the sandwich home in a to-go box. Somewhat annoyingly, fries cost extra... to "replace" the kettle cooked chips that come with. Though there's lots of options of extra-cost sides. Ehh... Would've loved to try to cheese curds too, but as a $11 appetizer... I'm not made of money. Was gonna treat myself to the funnel cake fries for dessert only to be told that the kitchen was already closed (twenty minutes before closing). This might be normal for all I know, as I've never worked in the restaurant industry, but it was still admittedly disappointing... especially as a response to my answer to the waitress's question "Is there anything else I can get you?" Speaking of the waitress, she was fine but a little hasty like she seemed in a hurry. Maybe our fault for walking in at 8pm? Again, I dunno. Toilets were serviceable but have clearly seen better days and don't appear to be the priority of the staff in terms of cleanliness. All these factors combined into my three-Star review. Really had hoped for a more positive experience. Will probably go back at some point for those funnel cake fries still. Maybe it'll go better and I'll update this review then. read more

10/10 experience! Used to come here with my family. Good for that vibe or at the bar as an adult now! I had a wonderful conversation with the bartender (David, I believe) and the manager and another server. Great people, attitudes, food, and even craft cocktails. Beer on tap as well. read more

It's unpretentious, but it's good food and sometimes that's what you're in the mood for. It's very much a lodge/sports bar sort of vibe. If that's not your thing, I get it. I like sports though. I wound up getting Cheese Curds and a Walleye sandwich. Not being from Minnesota, I find myself gravitating towards the stuff that's harder/impossible to get back home. The Curds are good. It's mostly cheese, not a lot of breading. I'd absolutely recommend them for out of towners and for those who live nearby, understand that you can't get curds this good in most places. The Walleye sandwich is similar. It's fresh, not a lot of extra stuff on it, but it's a darn good fish sandwich. It's unique, local, and 100% worth your time to come here. Given the commute and glut of interesting spots to try when I return, I might not be back myself, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't follow. Was looking for a place to eat while in Savage. Decided on this place due to the good reviews on the wings and burgers. I was seated promptly and my server was really nice. It seems like a smaller space inside and was a little dark where I was sitting but overall good vibes. I ordered the buffalo wings (mild) which were decent. I like how they were cooked but the flavor of the sauce was mediocre. I also order the Bacon Butchers Burger and it was very good. I enjoyed how the flavors meshed. A cozy feel and friendly service. This is the kind of place I love to find. It's family friendly and the food's good. I went with the juicy Lucy because it's their thing and I love trying the thing. It's a burger stuffed with cheese (lava temperature so be warned). These are pretty good burgers, although a tad more salt and pepper on the meat wouldn't hurt. Onion rings (not pictured) were more oily than I like, but tasted good. The fried cheese curds (not pictured) were really good, especially in the ranch dip even though I don't love ranch. The wings (not pictured) were good too. We had a little snafu with our order (it's why the onion rings aren't pictured) so we ended up with some mini donuts (not pictured....I was off my photo game everyone, sorry!) which I had five of with the cinnamon dipping cream sauce. We ended up sharing both and also getting onion rings. The onion rings came out first with the burger and they were pretty cold, I think they would have been better hot obviously but they were nothing special. Looks like a little hole in the wall place with a huge parking lot. But inside is such a homey, woodsy, family oriented bar and grill with a long history of return customers. They have fantastic food, a huge menu to feed the likes of everyone, and waitstaff that have been around for years. We've tried the half and half cheese curds with ranch (outstanding, so many cheese curds!!!), the Parmesan garlic buffalo wings, a few of their burgers, and chili and everything has been great--we'd order all of it again! The entire inside isn't necessarily walker/wheelchair friendly but there are definitely spaces for people with limited mobility. And I'm sure they would do what they can to accommodate you, they seem like a place that really cares about their customers! read more

Great spot! Very 'cabiny' feel. Love that they have bison burgers, but the patties are kinda thin. The regular burgers look thick 'n juicy, though, and ordered medium rare, cooked properly. I've been coming here since I was a kid and it's the same consistent, flavorful burgers! Sooo many options for burgers, including juicy Lucy. I am not typically a fan of crinkle cut fries, but theirs are to die for. They're crispy and have great seasoning. It isn't the best place for larger groups - maybe able to accommodate one or two at a time. If you're coming with a group of 6 or less, you'll be set. Try to get a spot near the windows and enjoy the view of the creek! Service is always relatively quick and food is served in a reasonable amount of time. It has been a long time since I visited buffalo tap - so long that I could not remember if they had a patio. I googled and found out they do. Well...they did. Upon arrival they said it is closed for the summer due to the construction on the highway along the restaurant. That was definitely a bummer. They have a large parking lot with plenty of room. The restaurant overall is larger than it seems. When you walk in it looks tiny but has various connecting areas for seating. I was sat in a back room at a high top. It was getting busy as it was near dinner hour. I had looked at the menu online and knew my friend would want the pickle spears. I soon realized they are on the online menu and not on the restaurant menu. I grabbed a Pomegranate Margarita which was pretty solid and boozier than I expected. I was told to try a wing or burger here. I ordered the Buffalo Garlic Parmesan wings for my meal. They did not look great, but they were okay. They over sauce which makes it hard for the wing to hold its crispiness. They were juicy and tender though. I didn't get the garlic parm flavor - they just tasted like a mild buffalo. The server was nice, but service was a little slow - I am sure due to the dinner hour. This place is mid bar food and a place I'd visit again if someone wanted to go. Great food! The wings are great and the potato ski s are phenomenal. Opted for the jalapeño bacon on the skins and that's the way to go! No wonder the parking lot was full at 7pm on a Tuesday. I eat hot food a lot, due to being from New Mexico. I was skeptical about how hot the "hot" wings would be. I mean, I'm from New Mexico and I'm in Minnesota. So I figured their hot would be mild. I stopped in and had a nice lunch on their outside patio. They have 1919 Rootbeer in frosty mugs and that was great with my burger. Disclaimer - my favorite Jucy Lucy is at Matt's bar. I ordered the Gorgonzola Juicy Lucy and it is filled with American Cheese and topped with Gorgonzola and bacon. It is a thick patty and stuffed with a lot of cheese. The cheese is melted but it is a thick ooze and not the same as the molten cheese lava at Matt's. When the cheese was all out the patty tasted dry. But the Gorgonzola and bacon helped a lot. It did have good flavor. The fries were excellent and not too salty. Service was good but they had several servers that were servicing both the patio and inside. The table next to me didn't receive their ketchup until after they finished eating. read more

First of all, the good. I wanted to try this place for years, and finally got the opportunity with my girlfriend and four of our kids ranging from age 9 to 17. I like the vibe, right when you walk in it's sort of a dive bar type of feel which transitions into a cabin atmosphere and then outdoors to a smaller patio. The parking lot is very often full, so that's a good sign. Which is why I really, really wanted to this place. also, the menu talks a big game. I checked it out the night before knowing I would be going there and I didn't know what I would order because there were so many good looking options. Now, the not so good. The server we had couldn't have seemed more disinterested to be working there. She got us what we needed, but didn't really have insight into the menu questions we had as we have never been there, and was just very monotone the entire time without smiling once. But I don't want this review to be about our server, she could've just having a bad day, and a server staff can come and go which is why it should be more about the restaurant itself. One person in our group ordered a garden salad that must've had about a half pound of cheese in it, and this was a side salad mind you. She had to actually take a couple handfuls off and put it on a different plate. Not sure if they were trying to get rid of some excess Cheese in their kitchen or what that was all about. Their menu states they have world famous cheese curds and wings. We got a regular order of cheese curds, and they were fried so crispy that they were so minuscule in size, all just deep fried crunchiness. I ordered six of the Hellfire wingsmyself, and for being the hottest wings on the menu, they were barely habanero level in my opinion, and were not sauced up enough. Average wings at best and I'm a connoisseur. Three of us ordered a different burger, they were fine but honestly nothing to write home about. Another in our group ordered potato skins and again they were thrown in the deep fryer for so long that there was virtually no potato in them, just a fried skin filled with cheese and whatever else. Pretty much inedible. Again, I really want to give this restaurant another chance because it's been around for a while and obviously people like it, however it's possible we just maybe went there on the wrong night the cooks were off their game . At least I'm hoping that's the case. I'm not a picky eater at all but based on what the people at my table was saying about their food for the most part, when I looked at it I agreed with what they were saying. If I ever go back in the future, it won't be for a while and I'm guessing it will be with people that were not part of my group from yesterday since they were more strong minded about it than I was. read more

Doesn't look like much from the Highway but this place is huge. Every time we've been it's packed, but never had to wait to sit. The atmosphere is a bit loud & chaotic, be prepared to talk over the noise level. We tried one of the burgers and a salad, neither were anything to write home about. They were very cautious with GF restrictions all the way down to separate take out containers which is rare in the area! read more

If I could give negative stars I would. I was terribly disappointed tonight when I brought my out of town family tonight. We have been in this restaurant several times, I will never return and will be letting everyone know the way we were treated. My son is an 8 year old who has autism and we have visited this place and other places in the area, brought in food for him due to him being so picky. It makes for a nicer time for us and the other people around us. First they took us down where no one was sitting in an area away from everyone else. There were tons of other spots available in the main dinning area. Then the waitress comes and tells us that her manager sent her over to tell us we can't bring in outside to food due to health code violations. Mind you this was a McDonald's happy meal. I explained to her that I have done this several times and it has never been an issue. I didn't understand what the difference was for any other parent bringing in food for their small child. She apologized and said she too has an autistic child and understands. We said if the health inspector comes in we will pay the fine and or explain the situation. But again we have been here several times and never once has it been an issue. Shortly after she walks away the manager comes down rudely informs us of the same thing the waitress did about the food for my son. I was so embarrassed and felt belittled the way the manager spoke to me. Luckily my son had no idea what was going on. He sat there eating him food watch his table with his headphones. Then my step Dad over hears the waitress (after hugging me because I was in tears because of the manager) went up and said it was a shit show down there. I have never in all my years walked out of a restaurant. I was so sick to my stomach. I totally understand the rules. But why has it never been said before? I also didn't appreciate the way we were treated like we were not wanted in their restaurant. This is a restaurant we always bring our out of town guests and recommend it to other people because the food and service has always been great. But this has taken all of that away. The owner should be ashamed of his employees. There are better ways to handle situations and this was not the way to handle this one. I recommend if your child has special needs not take them here and just find a different place to enjoy a family dinner. read more
