Justin did a great job servicing us here at Southern Social! It was our first time here and I can tell you it won't be our last! Great menu, great drinks, pull tabs and plenty of televisions! Really good southern fair; excited to come back and try more in the future. Nice addition to Chaska community! PS I really liked their out front landscaping! read more

Amazing newish restaurant in Chaska. The service was good, but the food was excellent. Do not skip the fried chicken, the Brussels sprouts, or any of the southern traditional foods. Recommend to anybody in the area. read more

Fantastic food and ambience! Their back patio is absolutely gorgeous. Went for brunch and it was delicious and not very crowded. Will definitely return to try their diner menu! read more

So happy to have Southern Social in Chaska with deliciously crafted sides, cocktails and an inviting atmosphere. We have dined in a few times and always have great service and food. Notable food: Bone in fried chicken is crispy, with a light batter and tastes like it been cooked in some well rendered fat. 10/10 Drinks: the vast bourbon selection makes for fantastic cocktail creations or enjoying neat. I loved that they have New Riff-Rye. I also love a play on the classics the Tequila Old Fashioned (Reposado tequila, coconut aquavit, agave, tiki bitters.) Atmosphere/design: Offers plenty of space with a peek into the kitchen. No matter where you sit, you're bound to catch a TV playing a number of sports channels. Overall! read more

I think I've been to every Southern Social location by now, and this one is wonderful! Plenty of parking available in the dedicated lot outside! The interior is fresh, modern, and cozy. Whether you sit at the bar, on the large patio, or in a booth, there's a spot for you! The servers, bartenders, and even the manager stopped by our table to make sure everything was great during our stay! I can tell them truly care about the guest experience! The food is solid! Casual, yet elevated, takes on southern comfort food! I had the House Chicken Sandwich on my latest visit, which had a juicy piece of chicken and simple, effective toppings, finished off with a perfectly toasted bun! I'd definitely order it again! Sweet potato fries were crispy and a perfect side! read more

Super glad to have tried out the newer Southern Social in Chaska! We came on a Wednesday evening and it was busy, but the restaurant is huge so there was plenty of seating. Some of us indulged in the alcoholic beverages on happy hour, and others thoroughly enjoyed their mocktails. I tried the She-Crab Soup and the Bolo Peach Flatbread and they were fantastic! Great portions and flavors. Would love to return to try out their patio. read more

Visiting some friends in the area and we were so excited to try this new restaurant. There were so many things on the menu I wanted to try. We tried the apricot tamarind smash which was good but the spicy plum was amazing. The deviled egg appetizer looked so unique and I was excited to try it but they were just okay. The cheese curds were delicious. We had to try their "famous" chicken strips and they were good, the Mac and cheese was a perfect side. I also had the surf and turf burger which was an interesting spin on a burger. Service was slow but it was very busy and we weren't much in a hurry anyways. Can't wait to go back to try more items!! read more

We had such a great experience here! Parking was super easy, which is always a win, and the place had a really welcoming vibe from the moment we walked in. The staff was friendly, quick to greet us, and made the whole visit feel relaxed and enjoyable. We started off with a couple of beers, and they were excellent -- i do wish they had a few more choices for ciders. For food, I decided to try a shrimp po' boy for the very first time, and it did not disappoint. Everything stayed perfectly inside the bun (a small miracle with po' boys!) and the flavor was spot-on. Such a good intro to something new! My husband went with his go-to Nashville hot chicken sandwich, and he absolutely loved it. Overall, great food, easy parking, friendly staff- we'll definitely be back! read more

Great food, but very noisy making it hard to carry a conversation. Dinner for 5. We waited for our table at the bar and were well taken care of by the barkeep. I just had beer, but one of my companions had an old fashioned we he pronounced excellent. We all ordered something different, and the food arrived in a reasonable period of time considering the place was packed. My catfish was excellent, the breading was nice and crunchy. I thought the hushpuppies were a little overdone (see photo). There is no carpeting on the floors and no sound deadening panels on the ceiling, so the noise in here was immediately noticeable. It was very hard to carry on a conversation with someone not sitting right next to you (across the table). That is my only beef. Fun spot! read more

Southern hospitality at its finest! What an incredible experience celebrating a milestone birthday! The food was absolutely delicious, with the perfect Southern flair. We loved everything we tried--from the warm cornbread and crispy chicken fingers to the creamy grits and lemon ricotta flatbread. Every dish was flavorful, beautifully prepared, and full of comforting Southern goodness. Sitting on the patio with a refreshing Blood Orange cocktail was the perfect way to enjoy the evening. What truly made the celebration special was how incredibly accommodating, caring, and attentive everyone was. The staff went above and beyond to make the 50th birthday celebration feel memorable, ensuring we felt welcome and well taken care of throughout the evening. That kind of warmth and hospitality is something you don't find everywhere. There are so many other things on the menu we want to try, so we're already looking forward to coming back! Delicious food, great cocktails, a beautiful patio, and truly exceptional service. Highly recommend! read more

UPDATE review ( 7/23/26). Been here a few times now. Sat out on the back patio tonight. BTW, it is so nice NOT to look at cars and parking lots while sitting on a patio! As it should be! Our sever Abby- GIVE-THAT-LADY-A-RAISE. Not only did she have what I would say is a normal set of tables to serve, and they were all full, she also was sat an 18-person rehearsal dinner party... She never stopped smiling; she never rushed; she maintained everything beautifully, and that alone deserves its own review. Just a super sweet Lady! Thanks for the wine in the champagne glass ( wink) Now to the food. It is a Southern place, so food tends to be on the heavier side. Which makes it EVEN BETTER. The Southern Social OH holy hell, what a burger that is! This is not a smash burger (not a fan of them). I tried the flatbread, Lemon Ricotta. Best things EVER !!!!!! Thanks for a great night on the Patio! ya know, we will be back. read more

It was really busy when we went BUT they still were very attentive! The food was great quality. The portions weren't big but they were definitely tasty. It is a very large restaurant. We stopped at Southern Social around 2:40 PM and it was delightfully quiet -- a great time for lunch. The inside is gorgeous: dark grey wood everywhere, very modern, and smells amazing from the moment you walk in. I love that it's in the space that used to be Cuzzy's Bar and Grill; the renovation really makes it feel like a whole new place. I ordered the cornbread skillet and a chicken sandwich (I asked for bacon but didn't get it). The cornbread skillet was excellent -- my partner had cheese curds that were melt-in-your-mouth, i love when places paor curds with the blueberry dip. The chicken sandwich was awesome: quality chicken with a super crunchy breading, and the tomatoes had a little pepper seasoning which made it stand out from your usual sandwich. I also tried their Mac and Cheese. Thats pretty good its dauced just right and i think its pimento cheese. Partner also tried chicken and waffles, which he enjoyed but said it wasn't his favorite -- not really a chicken-and-waffles guy. The sweet potato fries were tasty, though a bit soft rather than crispy. Service was fantastic. Our server was very sweet, attentive, and helpful with suggestions and questions. The bathrooms were clean, and the bar area looked well done. The space is much bigger than the old restaurant, with more booths and seating than I expected. Overall, I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. I would definitely come back to try more off the menu -- everything looks tempting. A wonderful spot in Chaska that's worth visiting. As you drive up to SS Chaska you notice a modern contemporary design style. When you walk into the restaurant you say "Home Run". When you see the patio you say "Grand Slam" This restaurant leans into flavorful Southern Fare but not overwhelming. The menu offers something for everyone. Service is casual, professional, and friendly. This restaurant offers a stylish venue without the snobbery. Great craft cocktail menu! Good beer list too. The outdoor patio might just be one of the BEST in the Twin Cities. Ambience and decor is modern edgy and interesting!! Great restaurant!! read more

Amazing fresh food with great service. I recommend the fried green tomatoes. It's really a special treat.

Southern Social has a big southern-style menu with lots of options. We started with the honey biscuits, which were decent, but there wasn't much honey and the biscuits were a little hard. For our main dishes, some of my family got chicken strips while the rest of us ordered different fried chicken sandwiches. I got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and it was delicious--definitely messy, but very good. The fries were amazing, and after trying both the regular fries and the sweet potato fries, I preferred the sweet potato ones. My dad ordered a chicken sandwich with bacon, but the bacon was unfortunately not cooked at all, which was our only real issue with the main dishes. Our server would take forever to come back. She was very friendly, but did not help us a ton. Overall, we still enjoyed our meal and would come back read more

I ordered food to go and was pleased with my overall experience. It took less than 15 minutes from start to finish to get my food and the dining room was pretty full so I thought it would've been longer. The staff were incredibly friendly and I felt lots of fun energy being there, must be because it's a newer restaurant in the area. A large lodge like restaurant with parking With soul food items. We ordered the BBQ platter to split that comes either two sides and ordered extra side of collard greens . Greeted pretty quick and got beverages but server had to come back a few times as beer I ordered not available. It took a minute to get order in and good arriving . Deviled spiced eggs were died red and rubbery and were good with spicy filling and Parmesan crisp cracker on them. Five on the tray. But would not order again. $13.95 The BBQ platter was a large half rack tasty ribs, meaty and delicious sauce. Pulled pork and brisket as well on the platter.$43.95 Coleslaw mild and tasty enough for two. Collards tasty and spicy . Server did check back. Total bill $75 for platter, extra side, beer and soda. It's a beautiful interior with music and ample seating. Did I feel warn fuzzy to go back? No. It's hard to find collard greens. The menu had many soul dishes and options, salads, burgers, sides, fried chicken, pot roast, catfish , shrimp and grits, appetizers. read more

Went for the DJ Brunch, but they didn't let us know it was out on the patio so we were seated in the dining room. So we missed out on that. Also, they must be short-staffed because our waiter was not very attentive. After we got water and beverages, we noticed tables who had come in after us already had their food while our food order had yet to be taken. When we complained (in a reasonable manner) about the slow service, another staff member came to take our order, and then we waited over an hour for our food to come out. Meanwhile we had a hungry cranky toddler. We wondered if there was some passive-aggressive retaliation for our having complained that delayed our service. During that hour long wait, no one came to refill our water glasses or coffee as one would expect. It was a very disappointing experience, because it was our first time there and the menu looked amazing. read more

Atmosphere outside and service was fantastic. Didn't enjoy sausage in the Cobb salad otherwise it was great. The chicken wings had a bit too much smoke flavor for my liking. This was my third time and will definitely make a fourth. Especially during happy hour. read more

I'd recommend to give this place a few weeks while they work out the kinks. We've been there twice. The vibe is catered to suburban people who want to feel trendy, but don't want to come to the city. The food took a long time to get and there were small portions and food was flavorful, but not standout. The staff both time have given weird vibes: they didn't know if the patio couch area was seat yourself or not and made us go between the bar and host stand several times. We waited at the bar for 10+ minutes while watching 3-4 bartenders clean, casually chat with each other, and not paying attention to several people who say down at the bar. The seating outdoors has a huge grass lawn. They took out the volleyball courts and the area seems like a waste of space. There aren't many places to eat in Chaska, so it will do if you are in the area. read more

First timer here and mixed reviews for me. Service was good however the food (kitchen) was something needing much improvement. Ordered the brisket entree and the meat was overcooked and dry, not the way it should be presented. One of our orders of food was entirely missed and had to be made while we waited. This was completely credited on our bill at their insistence. At one point I witnessed one of the cooks either taking selfies or pics / video of the dining room while in the kitchen - could explain why food was so bad! On the server side, it was great, always checking with us, keeping drinks filled. A definite mixed bag for me on this establishment not certain I would ever back. read more

Called the Chaska restaurant. Fifteen rings and then disconnected. Called them back and they finally answered after 5 more rings.

The remodel of the restaurant is stunning. Beautiful indoor and outdoor dining options. Service was amazing even for it being the Grand Opening night and very busy. Everyone was super friendly. The food was delicious! We all 3 tried different chicken sandwiches. If you like hot get the hot mustard chicken sandwich. It was spicy and delicious with a ton of flavor. The truffle fries were worth the upgrade. Nice truffle flavor in every bite. This will be our new regular go to restaurant. read more

I dined with a group of 4 for a casual weeknight meal. We ordered the biscuit basket - delicious, but is a bit pricey for a bread appetizer. Between the 4 of us we ordered the Lemon Ricotta flatbread, Jambalaya, brisket entree and brisket sandwich. Flatbread was fine. I would have preferred a slightly thinner crust, topping combination was refreshing and unique. Jambalaya was spicy and nice mix of flavors. The brisket was dry and not good. Both my husband and son were disappointed. The redeeming factor for the sandwich was it was smothered in BBQ sauce and cheese making the edible. I know this is MN and finding real Southern BBQ can be challenging. Overall, service was great. Would go back 1-2 times to try different items off the menu. read more

Happy Hour specials from 3-6 prices are great! $4 for a glass of wine and $7 for a slushie cocktail. Slushie cocktails are fun and something different for the area. I tried the Dirty Shirley slushie. We had the Fried Green Tomatoes that were also on HH. They were very tasty and had a good level of spice. If they soaked the tomatoes in vinegar it would make them even better. We also had the Pimento candy burger which was pretty good. The fries were just okay. This was our first time there and we will be back! Excited to try more of what they offer! read more

1. Excellent breadth of menu re southern favorites. Po' boys, shrimp & grits, pimento cheese, hush puppies, chicken & waffles, ribs-- a little of many favorites. 2. She-crab soup was excellent, easily the best I've ever had. Perfect consistency, foreground and background spicing... perfect. 3. Burnt ends, tea, and cole slaw were excellent. 4. Hush puppies only available as an expensive appetizer???? 5. Collards were cut perfectly (a rarity) but were too tough to eat. Easily fixed. Now two un-southern elements. 1. The room was super clean, industrial style design. No pile of white bread and blues music here! Pure Minnesotan. Not a fan. 2. The pricing was steep. We got 1 flatbread entree, 2 cup of soups, 1 appetizer, 1 side, 2 teas, 1 dessert: a $90 lunch. Yikes. 3. Flies. Humbly suggest they install fly guards on the doors. read more

We had dinner here for my husband's birthday and the New Orleans Shrimp Bowl was amazing! The deviled eggs appetizer was also a nice take on the traditional deviled egg. Slightly disappointed in the jambalaya though. It was a lot of rice and very few bits of meat. The brown butter cake dessert is worth trying. Our server (Noah?) was very friendly and took good care of us. It was fu. To watch the staff rallying in the expediting area. Seemed to be a good team. read more

Atmosphere is bad. It's so loud in there you can't even have a conversation unless you lean across the table. I should have known not to order anything but chicken. I ordered the smash burger, it was not a smash burger it was just a burger well done. I had a burger there over a year ago and ended up sending it back because it was well done only to have it come back the same way. Their hush puppies were really good, but now they usually burn them too. read more

The staff other than our server was fantastic, nicholas g was the most disrespectful server i have had in a while, he could not make eye contact, did not check on us and ask us what we needed or if the food was alright.. nothing. on top of his abhorrent customer service skills the food was sub par, the catfish was was not prepared well and the hush puppies weren't edible due to the amount cayenne pepper that overpowered the flavor, and i like spice.. the overall experience was not good at all. needless will not be returning and i urge nicholas g to figure out his ego and maybe get out of food service. read more
