We stopped by on a Saturday as we were looking for a good family lunch spot and the other Yelp reviews were good. The whole experience seemed flustered. The host originally seated us in a space that did not fit our party. Then he moved us to a center spot in a long, family-style table with people on either side of us. We had a five year old with us who was overly tired and very spunky and we had to try to keep her focused on us and not our neighboring patrons. Was really not the most appropriate seating for children but we didn't want to ask for yet another table. Soon after we sat down, we discovered that the parties on both sides of us were upset and looking for any employee so they could express their frustration. Seeing as we were all so close, we could hear them complain to others in their parties about the service. We learned shortly that we should have written up our losses early and moved on. We didn't. We ordered our beverages and immediately got water. The rest (2 soft drinks, an iced tea, and a milk) slowly trickled out one by one. The waiter apologized every single time he came to the table about how slow everything was from us being seated to getting our drinks to him coming to take our order. Once the food came out, he was apologizing again for how long that took. He wasn't wrong. As for the food, it was fine. Portions were average to smallish for the price. It wasn't as special as we had hoped it would be based on the descriptions. We each got something different and all said that we wouldn't order that item again. Not that it was bad. It just wasn't good. The best thing we had was the pretzel stick appetizer. That was pretty good but for the price, we wouldn't order it again. Nothing was super memorable except the decor which was super fun to look at. Oh and the very apologetic waiter. Our food came out hot. Turns out that was not true for the table to our left. The table to our right got the wrong food so half their group was done while the others were just starting. Apparently one of the cooks had called in. So, over all, I gave them an optimistic 3 stars. It was like a participation award with the assumption that if they were firing on all cylinders, it could have been much better. Personally, i wouldn't try them again but as the only Irish pub in the area, it could be a neat happy hour hang out. It just was not a family lunch spot. read more

A sign outside said the restaurant was open while construction was underway, but we saw no disarray inside. Maybe the work was going on in another room. We visited here mostly because their online menu, and their menu inside, said they serve Kilkenny, one of my husband's favorite beers and one that is rare to find. Unfortunately, we were informed right away that they no longer serve it, either, as the distributor was struggling to get it. Alas. That is the only complaint we have, though. Service was great, busy as the place was on a Saturday at lunchtime. I had a Magner's cider while my husband made do with Schells Octoberfest. The cheese curds were absolute artwork, some of the best we've had in ages. I had the beet and goat cheese salad. It was huge with very fresh ingredients, quite filling without an added protein. Nice British themed restaurant on a popular street. Easy to find and plenty of parking. We came on a Sunday at 1 pm. The place was 3/4 full and we were seated right away. The chicken on the Piccata was very salty! I love salt and for a person who salts everything, this was more than I could handle. The rest of the dish was fabulous though. I'm here in Mankato for work and wanted mussels so went for it. Did not disappoint. The mussels were cooked perfectly not over done and rubbery. The Scottish eggs are huge and have lots of flavor. Having been to Ireland and Scotland this place does those countries proud. Service was excellent and efficient couldn't ask for better The only issue was the TVs and music. It's been open only 5 days, so I'm keeping that in mind. Service-Outstanding. Truly, they have a wonderful team. Super attentive and knowledgeable. Atmosphere-American/Irish Pub indeed! It has all the trappings of what Americans need in an Irish Pub, booze, wood, and stuff on the walls. Food-Good. The Reuben rolls were way better than I anticipated, much cheesier than expected. And the dipping sauce was not just a jarred thousand island, it was less aggressive yet more flavorful. The shepherds pie was a quite bland for my taste. I required additional S&P. Same with the creamed cabbage that was on the side. I will be back though, so many things on the menu look promising. The house made lemonade was siiiiick! So damn good! read more

An amazing Irish Pub! This restaurant is newly opened, but fantastically run. They have great Irish music, and the service never made us feel like we were waiting. I had the broiled fish tacos and I have to say they were the best fish tacos I have ever had anywhere! The tacos were crunchy but never broke apart in my hands. The fish was perfectly cooked and topped with an amazing slaw. We also got the cheesecake, but I forgot to take a picture because it was so good! My old fashioned drink was made well, and at the end of the night everything was reasonably priced. We ate there recently on a Friday evening when we were in Mankato for our grandson's hockey tournament. We were seated quickly, even though the restaurant was busy, keeping in mind that it was only 5pm. Our server was excellent. He was friendly, attentive, and prompt when we needed anything. Date Night Approved! Stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night while visiting Mankato. The restaurant was busy, but we had a very minimal wait time for a great table. We ordered drinks; and shared an appetizer, a salad, the Shepherds Pie, and dessert. The Baileys cheesecake was amazing. Even sharing, our servings were easily enough for two; and we still needed a to go box. The staff were friendly and attentive. Sheppard's Pie not seasoned and was very bland, had to add salt. Daughters kids pasta was missing the baguette. Lamb Stroganoff was luke warm. This is supposed to be an Irish bar and they were playing what sounded like the radio with electronica at one point, very strange. The place is decorated decently for an Irish bar. read more

Two visits so far -one in the evening and one at lunch. Both visits we delightful. Our waiter was informative, pleasant and efficient. The food arrived hot and everyone in our party was pleased with their choice. The building is attractive inside and out. The is a sense of a more upscale dining experience but the cost was still reasonable. My husband and I came up here last weekend, party of 10 people. They seated us really quickly which we were happy about, they were very accommodating. The interior is beautiful, they were playing pop songs inside which was odd in an Irish place. We ordered the spinach artichoke appetizers which were really good, the bread they serve it with was delicious, the artichoke dish was creamy and flavorful. My husband got the steak which he said was good, and I got the Dick Titus Commercial which was okay. The food was not bad but it definitely wasn't amazing. Our waiter was really nice and polite. The only reason for the three stars is because it took forever to get our appetizers, over 30 minutes actually just for spinach dip. My coffee came out incredibly late too, although it was good. This isn't the waiters fault, he was really kind. My mother in law asked if he was the only one working and he actually was, they were extremely short staffed and the restaurant was getting busy very quickly, so this poor man had like 8 tables to himself including our party of 10. It took us forever to get the bill, over 20 minutes. Where is management? I didn't see anyone from management step in and help out, but I don't know, we were seated by the kitchen so perhaps I missed them. Haven't been here since before the change. Like the atmosphere and additional seating. The lamb loin is tender and tasty. Washing down with a couple pints of Guinness for a smooth finish. Didn't know about the whiskey selection, will need a DD to be able to sample correctly. Tried OBH on a trial run night before the grand opening. Had low expectations due to new staff, new menu. We figured this was a great time for them to work out the kinks. Boy were we wrong! All staff were trained VERY well! Our waiter told us every special for the entire week, and even gave us some great suggestions. We started with the Scotch Eggs for an App. They were as authentic and tasty as it gets. We ordered Chicken Piccata, a steak sandwich, and tenderloin steak with shrimp. We also had the Guinness stew before the main course and it was a meal in itself. (I would come here just for the stew!) All food was top notch! Keep up the great work OBH!! I have been to this place twice in the last two weeks I highly recommend it. The happy hour specials are amazing. Drinks are 450 for a rail and the small bite plates are plenty for you to have a couple and call it a dinner.
