Atomic breakfast burrito and biscuits and gravy with eggs over easy and diced potatoes...
    Don C.

Came to Mankato to catch Old Dominion at the Mayo Center and stopped by for drinks before the show... the place was packed with the girls working the bar like Coyote Ugly.. great service, good drinks, and good prices... met some locals who spoke highly of their food so we decided to stop in for breakfast on our way out of town, and we were not disappointed! I got the Atomic breakfast burrito and my wife ordered the biscuits and gravy with eggs over easy and diced potatoes. LARGE portions and my burrito was excellent and even better with the great hot sauce our waitress brought over. The diced potatoes were seasoned and crispy.. perfect! My wife said hers was was ok, but would be better if they added sausage to the gravy. Did I mention the excellent spicy bloody and GREAT service?!? We look forward to stopping in again when we are in the area..

In town visiting family and was blessed with this place. It was pretty busy but that didn't seem to impact service. Food was so good, and this coming from a girl from Portland who is always on the hunt for good food and has high expectations. The Menu was pretty impressive with ample amounts of choices. I asked Ashley, the owner, who came up with the menu and she gladly gave herself the credit she was due. Bottom line, if you are in town and looking for the perfect spot for unique pub food and a nice dram of your favorite spirit or a beer the size of your head then come on in, sit in one of the most comfortable chairs I have ever sat on in a restaurant and enjoy a game playing on one of the many TVs lining the walls.

I went to see my first live music in over a year downtown and decided to hit up Atomic Star for dinner. I was looking forward to a tasty burger after looking at their vast selection. I wish I could say I had a good experience, but unfortunately, I couldn't even stomach one bite of my Bravacado burger. The moment I sunk my teeth into it I knew something was wrong. After looking at it, I couldn't believe how this went out of the kitchen. It was pinker than a Crayola crayon. I made several attempts to call back and when I finally reached someone the server was very understanding and eager to make things right. I ended up getting the order refunded and will settle on a frozen pizza.

Comes with grilled/fried onions. Can add bacon with extra charge (please do yourself a favor AND DO ORDER THE BACON). After 4 hours of kayaking and sitting in the sun, this hit the spot. Onion rings are perfectly seasoned and fried. Batter is crunchy but not to thick and they used the right cut of onion without the extra stringy film. Dam pies. They are literally called Dam pies, and damn they are good. There are multiple types you can choose from - our guide insisted we try the coconut cream and he had the chocolate pecan, and just shared. I loved the coconut cream but that chocolate pecan was out of this world. These pies were featured in magazines and such, and recipes were passed down. Cash only. Quick service. Overall, loved the local feel. Glad our guide persuade us to join him for dinner here. Will be back again.

The host originally seated us in a space that did not fit our party. Then he moved us to a center spot in a long, family-style table with people on either side of us. We had a five year old with us who was overly tired and very spunky and we had to try to keep her focused on us and not our neighboring patrons. Was really not the most appropriate seating for children but we didn't want to ask for yet another table. Soon after we sat down, we discovered that the parties on both sides of us were upset and looking for any employee so they could express their frustration. Seeing as we were all so close, we could hear them complain to others in their parties about the service. We learned shortly that we should have written up our losses early and moved on. We didn't. We ordered our beverages and immediately got water. The rest (2 soft drinks, an iced tea, and a milk) slowly trickled out one by one. The waiter apologized every single time he came to the table about how slow everything was from us being seated to getting our drinks to him coming to take our order. Once the food came out, he was apologizing again for how long that took. He wasn't wrong. As for the food, it was fine. Portions were average to smallish for the price. It wasn't as special as we had hoped it would be based on the descriptions. We each got something different and all said that we wouldn't order that item again. Not that it was bad. It just wasn't good. The best thing we had was the pretzel stick appetizer. That was pretty good but for the price, we wouldn't order it again. Nothing was super memorable except the decor which was super fun to look at. Oh and the very apologetic waiter. Our food came out hot. Turns out that was not true for the table to our left. The table to our right got the wrong food so half their group was done while the others were just starting. Apparently one of the cooks had called in. So, over all, I gave them an optimistic 3 stars. It was like a participation award with the assumption that if they were firing on all cylinders, it could have been much better. Personally, i wouldn't try them again but as the only Irish pub in the area, it could be a neat happy hour hang out. It just was not a family lunch spot.

Today, however, we ordered a burger among other things and we were brought the incorrect burger. Our server came to our table and explained he brought the wrong burger. We had already cut and taken a bite of it and said it's okay we will just take what we were brought rather than waiting for a replacement. When we got the bill we were still charged for the burger we ordered even though we didn't receive it. When we asked our waiter, Griffin, why we were charged for it, his comment was "well it was cheaper than what you ate." When we asked to talk to the manager, Sawyer, her comment was "well you ate the burger didn't you?" They did not comp the burger and argued they didn't need too. Bummed we had this experience and will not return.

They are kind of like toasted raviolis filled with cream cheese and jalapeños. Their hand dipped tendies are excellent! And their house made sauce is just as good. My friend really enjoyed her wings and salad. I tried both of her sauces and they were super flavorful, the wings are not fried so do not expect them to be crispy. Overall, I'm looking forward to a return visit.
