Great location. The food, not so great. For drink, just ordered a Sprite. It was pure soda without the syrup. Not a big deal as she offered "to take a look". I asked for water and asked her to disregard. I inquired about the fish and chips as I noted you can upgrade to get Walleye instead. Seemed like she had no idea what I asked as she gave the impression she thought it was something else other than fish. I ended up getting the cod as she recommended. I bar downtown . The service was ok but they were busy. I ordered the Mediterranean Salad and it was very disappointing. But I should have read the menu better. Just lettuce and tomato's onions and some chips. No cheese no olives very blah for the price. My husband had a brisket sandwich and said it was good. The Long Island I order was very weak. We went there as they have had good reviews of their Reuben sandwiches. 1. Service - I didn't notice if they were shorthanded but service timing was spotty at best. We put our orders in and it was a half hour before we got our food. Waitress/hostess must have had a smoke break as the smell of cigarettes wafted through our table. 2. Reuben sandwich - meah... it must have sat for a bit before it was picked up for our table as the bottom piece of bread was extremely soggy/mushy. The corned beef lacked flavor. To be honest, tasted more like a plain pot roast. The sauerkraut was tasteless. The sauces were good. The sweet potato fries were good although expensive for the small amount we got. Overall value of the meal was below average. 3. Daughter had the fish and chips. She thought the fish was pretty good and the bread provided was good. Overall average at best. My wife, 8 month old daughter, and I came here for a celebration with 15 other people--we did not pick the location but were happy to try it out. Our servers and the wait staff were upbeat and quick to get us started with drinks and orders. It was easy to place orders as a sub-group within the larger group and they did not mix up our order. People were there to celebrate or watch a game or two and thus the atmosphere was jovial. The reason it gets 2 stars is that the food was not very good and everything was over-priced. My wife got the Diablo Burger and said it was mediocre and not spicy at all. She loves fries and potatoes and said that even the fry-wedges were bland. I ordered a spring mix salad and found it to be just okay. Finally I ordered the Norwegian wings, as wings go they were fine, however there was nothing Norwegian about them (also 20 wings cost $36). Heads up... park in the back or in the ramp, it's nearly impossible to get parking in front of the restaurant. We ordered stoner chips as an appetizer, pulled pork and cheese over homemade potato chips with some ranch ish sauce drizzled over it. Very good. I ordered turbo meatballs off of the appetizer menu, comes with 4 meatballs and potato wedges with buffalo sauce and Italian sauce.. it could have used more meatballs otherwise it would be hard to split with more than 2 people. My wife ordered buffalo wings. The food tasted great, only lost 1 star due to the lack of meatballs in the turbo meatballs making it a little high priced and challenging to share with a group and ended up being about a $50 bill essentially for 3 appetizers. Driving back from a day trip to a park, this place popped up on a search for 'decent lunch'. I'm not usually a huge fan of pub food for lunch, but after looking at the menu online, I thought I would find more than burgers and fries. I ended up with a sloppy joe and the seasoned fries. Hubs had the avocado cranberry turkey sandwich with the soup of the day (cheesy cauliflower). I have to admit, I was eyeing up that sandwich, but have a weakness for sloppy joes. I at least got to snag a bite. The sloppy Joe was good, actually, not terribly sloppy. It didn't have a lot of sauce, but still had flavor. The seasoned fries were excellent. I would definitely get that avo cran turkey if we pop in here again, but I might do it as a bowl with wild rice (that is also an option for any sandwich). Service was great. For drinks I chose their watermelon mule, which was delicious and refreshing. My go-to appetizer that I have been obsessed with lately is their "stoner chips"; kettle chips cover in delicious pulled turkey, cheese, onions, and cilantro lime sauce. These chips are to die for and always a huge hit for whoever is with me. For an entree I have a few favorites but for this trip I chose the fish and chips. Unlike many Minnesota sports teams, these 'chokes are a fine way to end our lineup; they'd be winning order any day. The pitas did not impress, but the flavor itself was phenomenal. Don't dip before trying this one. Pub 500 gets many props for atmosphere, menu uniqueness, options, and food freshness.
