We stopped by on a Saturday as we were looking for a good family lunch spot and the other Yelp…read morereviews were good. The whole experience seemed flustered. The host originally seated us in a space that did not fit our party. Then he moved us to a center spot in a long, family-style table with people on either side of us. We had a five year old with us who was overly tired and very spunky and we had to try to keep her focused on us and not our neighboring patrons. Was really not the most appropriate seating for children but we didn't want to ask for yet another table. Soon after we sat down, we discovered that the parties on both sides of us were upset and looking for any employee so they could express their frustration. Seeing as we were all so close, we could hear them complain to others in their parties about the service. We learned shortly that we should have written up our losses early and moved on. We didn't. We ordered our beverages and immediately got water. The rest (2 soft drinks, an iced tea, and a milk) slowly trickled out one by one. The waiter apologized every single time he came to the table about how slow everything was from us being seated to getting our drinks to him coming to take our order. Once the food came out, he was apologizing again for how long that took. He wasn't wrong. As for the food, it was fine. Portions were average to smallish for the price. It wasn't as special as we had hoped it would be based on the descriptions. We each got something different and all said that we wouldn't order that item again. Not that it was bad. It just wasn't good. The best thing we had was the pretzel stick appetizer. That was pretty good but for the price, we wouldn't order it again. Nothing was super memorable except the decor which was super fun to look at. Oh and the very apologetic waiter. Our food came out hot. Turns out that was not true for the table to our left. The table to our right got the wrong food so half their group was done while the others were just starting. Apparently one of the cooks had called in. So, over all, I gave them an optimistic 3 stars. It was like a participation award with the assumption that if they were firing on all cylinders, it could have been much better. Personally, i wouldn't try them again but as the only Irish pub in the area, it could be a neat happy hour hang out. It just was not a family lunch spot.

We visited here mostly because their online menu, and their menu inside, said they serve Kilkenny, one of my husband's favorite beers and one that is rare to find. Unfortunately, we were informed right away that they no longer serve it, either, as the distributor was struggling to get it. Alas. That is the only complaint we have, though. Service was great, busy as the place was on a Saturday at lunchtime. I had a Magner's cider while my husband made do with Schells Octoberfest. The cheese curds were absolute artwork, some of the best we've had in ages. I had the beet and goat cheese salad. It was huge with very fresh ingredients, quite filling without an added protein. My husband had a burger and fries and really enjoyed them.

I'm really trying to be fair, as the service shouldn't bring this to a 1 star, because there were highlights. Secondly, I've been told a lot of good things about this place and feel we may have had a one off. The parking lot was pretty open but i couldn't really tell there were parking spaces up front. The interior is very comfortable and nice looking. However, our visit had a sour taste when it came to our service. It was roughly 630-7 on a Saturday night. There were 4 other tables in our section. The greeter was very pleasant and welcoming. Then we got this guy who changed the whole mood. Not seeming to want to be there or not wanting to help us.. possibly both. He took our order and was nice about it. But that's where the good service ended. He checked with us to see if we were ready to order within 5-10 minutes. However, we were waiting on the last of our party. We did order drinks and queso, which came to us. Our last of our party arrived, where we waited like 15 more minutes before he finally came back to see if we were ready to order. She ordered a drink, which he went to go get, rather than taking our orders. By this point 3 other drinks were empty and he did not check to see if we needed refills. We advised while ordering our food we needed more drinks, which he brought. I believe he didn't come back until they brought our food out. Then he never came back again. Our Last person never got a one refill of her drink and the rest of us did not get another refill as we we're all ready to go at this point. He actually never came back to our table, and had one of the hostess or another waitress come to us to see if we were good. This girl was much better and attentive, unfortunately we were on the way out.

Me and my girlfriend go out to eat at least every weekend and sometimes weekdays too!…read more Applebees provides us with an affordable place to eat with a lively, fun atmosphere and a massive menu. We have definitely become addicted to a few of their menu items! (I'm an "all day brunch burger" guy; she goes for the "shrimp and parmesan sirloin with grilled veggies") When we lived in Albert Lea, Applebees was one of our best options- but we had a very limited pool of restaurants to choose from. We could count on about 3/4 visits to range from good to great; the other 4th of the time it was the food that was disappointing (sometimes embarrassingly so) and rarely was the service an issue. We have eaten at the Mankato Applebees about 9-10 times now since we moved here, and they have been 100% every time on providing both quick and friendly service and pumping out tasty food! The few times we've had any issues with the food it was immediately and politely fixed. Props to them, especially since they have been packed full to the brim each time we've gone! You will get what you are looking for from this town's Applebees. They won their fifth star from me by serving delicious long islands each time- they've managed to hit a great balance between a tangy-sweet flavor and how fiery the alcohol content is. I've found that other restaurants often have trouble with Long Island iced teas and the result is often terrible. So two thumbs up to the bar tenders there- finding a place where I can order a Long Island without being nervous is amazing!
