We stopped in after baseball with our kiddos a couple weekends ago. I have been meaning to make…read moresure I take time to make this review since. The drinks were amazing, the charcuterie board was a hit with all at our table and just the right amount of a snack for the four of us before we ordered the pizza option from next door. Our youngest daughter noted it was the best pizza she's ever had. We also found it pretty delicious. The waitresses deserve a major shout out..I wish I had gotten their names...but....nonmatter which one ended up at our table they were extremely sweet and accommodating and extra kind to our kids. Before heading out- one of the waitresses helped me pick out a few tonics to take home with me and even sent me on my way with a couple of recipes from drinks I really enjoyed while there. They were beyond sweet as they stuffed a few extra mints and a 15 percent off coupon in our bag. Though my husband and I have been here many times and have never had a poor experience, this was by far our favorite time....our kids ages 6 and 9 were super happy and raved about it to their older sister and grandparents for the whole rest of the week-- this says a lot from them, trust me. Thank you for giving us a family friendly experience while still getting to enjoy some adult style (cocktails for husband- mocktails for me) beverages with amazing food. P.s. We ALWAYS love the windows that open to the outside...such a vibe.

Whenever we are here when the men are serving (especially Mark), they tend to be less mindful of customers, less careful with making drinks, and use coarse language. Just a heads-up. If you walk in, check to see who is serving before you sit down.

We were…read morethere right at open during the farmers market and there was an initial rush that died down after 15 or so minutes. The bartender was extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgable about the products; answering some questions I had about proofing. It's in a great spot downtown right next to the farmers market with plenty of street parking. There are a few sidewalk tables but a nice open space inside. The inside doesn't allow dogs, however, due to their kitchen. Speaking of... The pizza was pretty good! I feel the most important part of any pizza is the crust and that was the best bit of theirs. The fresh ground flour adds a ton of flavor and they got a decent char on the bottom and rim. The prices weren't terrible and 1 pizza with some booze fed both of us. My only gripe is that they go heavy on the cheese so the (excellent) crust can't hold up to the weight and wetness. That's made a bit worse by they fact that they use a high-moisture mozzarella so there's a lot of grease that can soup the whole deal up. All in all they make fantastic spirits, service is great, and now have good pizza at a decent price. I think this may be my go to spot for meeting friends when I'm in Northfield.

Bergen Bar & Grill is hands down one of the best hole-in-the-wall restaurants I've ever been to!…read more Food: Do yourself a favor and order the filet mignon and wild rice -- and don't forget the side of 3 jumbo shrimp! My family has been coming here for years and we all order the same thing every time we come, and it's always phenomenal! The beef is SOOO tender, it literally melts in your mouth. And don't get me started on the wild rice. It's cooked to perfection and it's so buttery and flavorful. Atmosphere: Bergen Bar & Grill is a smaller restaurant that's first come first serve -- no reservations. You put your name and phone number on a notebook and they call you when your table is ready. Depending on the time you arrive, it can be a longer wait. However, they have a lovely patio where you can wait for your table OR you can hang out in your car. They do serve drinks on the patio which is a nice touch! One other thing to note, they are cash/check only. No credit cards so plan accordingly. Overall, I highly highly recommend Bergen Bar & Grill! You won't be disappointed.

What we discovered was that they have limited weekend Lunch hours (11:30 - 1:30) and a more conventional burgers and sandwiches menu. It also wasn't nearly as crowded as the evening sittings can be. I'll still rate Bergen at 5 because it is a great steak dinner choice. However, their more conventional Lunch might not be worth the journey out here for some folks. We did have a nice time out here. Service was neighborhood friendly and efficient, while Gayle's steak sandwich and my German Patty Melt were very tasty. We both chose Onion Rings as our side, which always taste great going down, but sometimes linger afterwards. Their bar choices continue to improve, while Bergen remains Cash or Check only.
