Such a cute restaurant located next to the St. Paul airport. Fun to look at the older planes which you can view in the viewing area or from your table if you are near a window. We arrived before our reservation so grabbed a seat at the bar. Came just in time for the tail end of Happy Hour and enjoyed a glass of wine and beer with the appetizers of truffle potato wedges and charcuterie. Loved the charcuterie especially the cheeses, but do wish the bread was sliced better. The potato wedges were piping hot but a bit too thick on the potato for me. We finally got seated and was pretty disappointed as I saw that the table they sat us at was open the entire time we were at the bar. I was told by the hostess that someone was sitting at our table when we arrived, but clearly that was not true. I was grateful that they didn't make us eat off the Restaurant Week menu and I got the gargenelli pasta. It was a nice pasta dish with the goat cheese and the toasty bread crumbs. The people doing the reservations were very nice and helpful with our changing from 4 to 5 on a very busy day. Everyone commented on how good the food was and we noted that everyone finished everything. And we got a table outside with great weather and a B25 and a B29 right at the building. Started with crispy Brussels sprouts $17. Very good. Manhattan $12. Good Walleye $38. Very good Others had Scallops $26 King oyster mushrooms $29 Salmon $36 Garganelli $26 We shared the After Dinner Mint cake $13 Service was very good mostly by Shannon B. But others helped. They were also very nice to allow us to just sit and talk and watch planes. There were empty tables at this point but the still stopped by and offered water. The ambiance here is special! The decor is attractive and the tables, or outdoor patio, abut the St Paul Regional airport so you can see small planes or helicopters land/takeoff. I noticed there are helicopter tours that takeoff here, which is cool, too. The food was really tasty, and the prices are on par with similar restaurants. I live in the area and can't believe I've never been here before! The server was pleasant; my only criticism was that it took a long time for drinks and food to arrive. We weren't in a hurry, though, so it wasn't that big of a deal. We tried the Bloody Mary charcuterie board, which was memorable and I'd highly recommend. The fried cheesecake bite on that board was *delicious* and melted in your mouth. The BLT was spot on, and I got it with a side of hash browns. Wheels up! Dined here for an early dinner at 4 pm on a Monday with some colleagues. The online reservation system via Open Table was seamless. Needless to say, we were the first group in and killed some time beforehand in the main lobby space with some cocktails. Upon entry, there are many traveling relics to peek at via decor from old luggages to a map on the ground to airplane adventure advertisements. Additionally, there is an observation overlook where you can watch the airplanes land and takeoff. The entire space made me feel like I was about to hop on a plane and do some traveling. Holman's Table offers a unique experience as you can watch airplanes land and takeoff as mentioned above and can even buy tickets for helicopter rides which take place on Saturday's. For my first experience, we did a dine in only indoors. There is a small exterior patio outside for the warmer months which I hope to take advantage of next summer. The interior is very clean, the women's bathroom is spacious and the parking is free onsite. Our hostess was an absolute riot. She was cracking jokes left and right with us. When we eventually got seated in our dining area, we ordered the brussel sprout appetizer (very yum with a nice glaze, bacon bits and blue cheese crumbles) and purchased another round of cocktails. For the main entrees we had 2 of the 300 dollar burgers, 1 Caesar salad (came with a giant over easy egg) and 1 order of the bucatini pasta with added chicken. I am rating this a 4 because I feel like the bucatini pasta description didn't match the end product and definitely had a spice kick to it which was not outlined on the menu. Our server even told us that the Radiatori pasta had a spice kick, yet made no mention of it when we were going over the menu. In addition, our server was late to give us the bill as she was also playing bartender which showed us the restaurant was understaffed. Regardless, I'll be back. Why? I'm a Saint Paul fanatic, I love intimate hidden gems and I want to try the helicopter ride with my husband who previously served in the Air Force. Wanted to grab a holiday drink and watch some planes in a snowy Saturday, and we got one of the two. This was our first time here and we heard about it because of the makers market they had. They only had a couple vendors in the lobby, but it was still nice to drop in and have an excuse to grab a holiday drink. Pro tip - do not sit at the bar if you're hoping to watch planes. There's no good window to look out of when sitting at the bar. I wish I asked for a table since it wasn't too busy!! I had the hot cocoa drink and it was delicious! We make it here every few months for lunch, over the past few years, and I think it has gone from good to meh, a trend that I don't see reversing. Previously, the food saved it from itself. The dining area is so noisy, and the tables are jammed into each other - there is no way to get in or out without bumping into another chair - but for good food at acceptable prices, it was worth it. After the last visit, the food isn't worth it for me. On this most recent stop, several of the regular items i had gotten had been discontinued, and I could find nothing else that was appealing, so I went with their omelette special. It was disgusting. I ate the individual elements by themselves, so that it wouldn't be a total waste, but much of the bacon just tasted bad - not undercooked - just bad, like they didn't know how to make bacon. The decline in food quality seems to mimic the overall decline in this establishent. I can't foresee ever going back. PS The Service was good. read more

We had a lovely brunch at Holman's Table. They're definitely generous with the meats. Plenty of crab in the crab-cake Benedict with perfectly runny eggs. My friend wanted an NA beer and they were out so the bartender made her a special NA cocktail. He put in the extra effort and it was appreciated. Our entrées included lobster risotto, which was good but a little too salty. The rib eye pork chop, which was a bit dry. The orecchiette with sausage and the tenderloin. I came here for the first time on my birthday this past year. I had no clue about this hidden gem because it is also located at the small airport. There's even a place next door to do a helicopter ride! We went for brunch on a Saturday and it was pretty busy. I started with the brûlée grapefruit with whipped cream berries. The combination of tart of sweet was perfect! I also tried the French toast- which is a graham cracker crust made into the cinnamon brioche toast. I loved the twist on this. We loved our experience at this place. It's kind of a hidden gem and the food is amazing. I've eaten here for mother's day brunch and we recently dined here for dinner. The shrimp appetizer with Thai chili sauce was one of their specials and was amazing and the maple glazed slab bacon was decent. My husband got the Hanger Steak entrée which was delicious (I'm ordering it next time) and I got their catch of the day scallop entrée which was tasty. The location is easy to find if you follow the signs within the airport and parking is plentiful, valet would be nice for these cold nights but it's not a far walk from the lot. This was my second visit to Holman's and it, again, did not disappoint! From the very cool deco style building it is housed in to the restaurant itself it is a wonderful experience. The restaurant is a warm, cozy, romantic ambiance perfect for a wonderful dinner with a special someone, friends or family, or to celebrate an occasion. This visit was to celebrate some work news for me and I wanted to go out and do something special. First of all the service is impeccable! The servers and support team are warm, professional, and have perfect timing in checking back etc. Finding this level of service and timing is surprisingly rare so that just adds even more to the experience. The food.... consistently exceptional! From our cocktails, to the Mushroom toast (WOW.. delicious flavor explosion) and Charcuterie plate (great selection of meats and cheeses, warm baguette, and accompaniments) the food was excellent!! We transitioned over to the Wedge salad which had beautiful, crunchy romaine lettuce, tasty bacon and a fresh delicious blue cheese dressing with tomato and chives. It was a perfect transition from appetizers to entrees. Our entree was the Buccatini with an arrabiatta sauce which was fresh tasting and had the perfect level of spice. The pasta was perfectly prepared as well so it all came together beautifully especially with the Lemon-Basil ricotta addition it was fantastic! This was one of our favorite places to go for cocktails and dinner - but now, with the new menu and apparently a new chef, the choices were not great, and the food was.....well, again, disappointing. The Caesar salad - the only salad on the menu - was slathered in way too much dressing that had WAY too much anchovy in it - and then there were like 9 anchovies layered across the romaine lettuce. The "gumbo" wasn't gumbo at all, but was basically rice with a couple of chicken pieces on top and a bit of andouille sausage in it. BUT - the burger was good - a hold over from the past menu. I wonder it the kitchen staff was short staffed as we all could not find anything that would bring us back. I took my mother here for brunch and this place is amazing. As you drive through the airport you arrive at a parking lot with an amazing view of the downtown saint paul skyline. The view is breathing and you feel as if you can reach out and touch the city. As we entered the beautiful building we are greeted by all types of stonework and an extremely clean environment. Even the men's bathroom was clean and these days I'm not sure what men do but how do you get pee on the floor. We didn't have reservations so we got a seat and the hostess escorted us to the bar. The bar had many selections of alcohol and the coffee was very good. The coffee was black as a demonic soul and was not bitter or burnt. The bartender serving us was Nate and he was extremely friendly and accommodating. After the stressful morning, I ordered a mimosa that was mixed to perfection. For food, we decided to split a pizza and it was divine. The pizza had flavors of the different meats and a hint of basil. I was surprised it was so delicious. Once we got to our seat, okay I'm not tiny, but I'm not that big. I couldn't fit in the booth. That was embarrassing. Like all the other reviews, that burger is really good. A nice thick patty cooked to a perfect, I mean perfect medium. Cheese could've been a little melted. I'm not sure the foie gras butter is necessary other than aesthetic, but that gravy is spectacular. I would've liked more to dip the burger in. Mushrooms of some kind, I think they says truffles are in it. It had a Salisbury steak quality, in a good way. I'd get it again for sure. My brother enjoyed his bucatini quite a bit. My friend enjoyed the vegetarian salad of some sort. The salad came out about ten minutes prior to the rest of the food. The potatoes lacked salt and were not crispy at all, in fact were slightly under. The service was great. Our server was very professional and we enjoyed her quite a bit. Decided to meet a friend here for a light dinner. We ended up sitting outside with a view of the tarmac, definitely a different experience than you can have at most places! Got a couple appetizers to start, the meatball and the cauliflower. The meatball sounded like a version of Swedish meatball, which it definitely was and was delicious. Although, it was one GIANT meatball that we cut up. It had pomegranate seed instead of lingonberry, but had the gravy and dill like traditional Swedish Meatballs have. The charred cauliflower was also very good, with a yogurt sauce. We were a little hungrier after that so we both ordered a salad. This is where it lost a little for me. The salads are huge, and no option for a half salad. I got the quinoa salad and there wasn't a lot of quinoa on it. I probably wouldn't get a salad there again. Service was pleasant, albeit, a bit slower. As always, I don't necessarily want to be rushed but I didn't expect to sit there for 2+ hours either. Saw that they have a fun happy hour in the bar area so may try to stop in again for that. A huge recommendation I would give would be to make a reservation as things do tend to get a bit crowded. Our waitress was incredible and very kind and timely. The biscuits with the jam were so flaky and the jam was tarte and sweet. My fried chicken sandwich was also packed with flavor and I loved how a side of fruit was a sides option.
