What a beautiful place for high end dining! Our server Hailey took great care of us. They have lots of gluten friendly options, including a dedicated fryer that is gluten free. So delicious, well crafted dishes.

The location is very cool! We were on the third floor which was very intimate and relatively quiet. Thankfully there were no mobility issues in our group! Our server was personable and friendly and we really enjoyed our interactions with him! The food was fabulous and the three standouts for me were the beet salad, hibiscus spritz mocktail and the pear Pavlova. Be forewarned, this is definitely a "take your time and dine" experience. The meal was 2 1/2 hours from beginning to end. I do wish it had moved along just a little bit faster than it did.

First time here for dinner on a Friday night. I had no idea what to expect and did not realize it was a resturant you would want to dress up a bit for. Parking sucks, the resturant is surrounded by no parking unless by permit signs. Or else you park via their $15+ valet. The building is very cool and has several levels with a small amount of tables in each area. The house has been renovated but the charm is still there. The food was good. Amazing, no but good. Dessert was the best part. I would go back but maybe more for a special occasion. Oh yes, and they add on 3% to the bottom of the bill for paying with a credit card.

Special: Open fire pit BBQ menu on July 20, 2025

My husband and I went here for their special open fire pit BBQ by their executive Chef Jeremy Wessing and Taher corporate Chef Chris Murray. While we waited to be seated, we had the opportunity to talk to Chef Chris. You can tell he was passionate about his food. My husband and I decided to share a combo plate from the BBQ menu. Everything was delicious. I was surprised that I like the roasted lamb--normally I don't like lamb because of their gamey taste, but this was good and I went back for more. We both love the seasoning on the Taiwanese chicken. It was very juicy and I love the flavor on it. My husband said, "just give me a bowl of their smoked mac and cheese and the Thor's Hammer" and he would be a very happy man. I also want to say that the seasoned rosemary garlic fries were delicious. Normally, I am hesitant about fries since I don't usually eat them, but they were well prepared and delicious. The wait staff was very knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. The host was nice--checking frequently to see if our table was ready. The patio seating was good - cool breeze for a 7:15 PM reservation. Originally, I wanted to sit indoors, but there were none available. The patio looked over to the Alexander Ramsey's mansion. There is also a valet for $15.

my friend and i were excited to try forepaugh's given it serves a spot on the minneapolis/st paul top 50 list. the space is unique and stunning, set in an historic home. valet made parking easy and efficient. menu offers something for everyone. plenty of variety and options for drinks as well. i'd like to come back and sit at the downstairs bar; it looked cozy. the burrata and bolognese were SO GOOD. the brussel sprouts weren't anything special. the lamb chop was a bit too fatty for my liking. overall, forepaugh's is a great place in st paul and i'd definitely recommend it for your next date night :)

Grabbed dinner on a Friday night with a girlfriend and what a super unique spot. It's in an old manaion renovated to a restraunt which we thought was so unique. We enjoyed our food and drinks, but the service was a little slow between our apps and main dish. We both loved the burrata. Would skip the lamb. Our cocktails were tasty! Parking can be tricky but they do offer valet which is great!

Visited 9/9/25. Thank you Forepaugh's for making my 30th birthday a wonderful one! Staff was great throughout the night and I appreciate it greatly. Also, the date night special is really solid (my mom and I split it lol). Super great amount of food for a reasonable price and loved that it included Wellington because I was most excited for that. Everything was delicious and I had been wanting to try a beef Wellington for a long time. Glad I got to try it here. Other standouts were the unique evergreen Collins drink (super woodsy and smoky taste) and the spaghetti allá chitarra. My sister got a cacio e pepe pasta and this had some good flavor. Only thing that could make this place better is complimentary bread but such a fun place with the coolest ambiance. I'm constantly recommending to others. Ooh, also: GET THE CHOCOLATE CAKE. It is worth it

The last time I previously ate here was 20 years ago for prom with my now wife :). So when we had a chance it was very nostalgic to head back to a place where I first said I love you. It really has not changed and the ambiance of this wonderful old mansion is second to none. I love historic places and this is lovely. We started out at the bar and had a couple lovely cocktails well waiting for our table. The bartender and wait staff were lovely and very friendly.the great service continued when we were seated. So why four and not five well I have to compare it to other great French restaurants in Minnesota and the food well very good is not the best I've had. That goes to another French restaurant in St. Paul that I hold near and dear. We had the beef Wellington which was cooked to perfection , the seafood and steak that my wife really loved, the appetizers were also quite wonderful. Overall it was a fantastic experience and you never forget where you fell in love. Thank you Forwepaugh's.

Went there for a birthday dinner. The outside and inside is definitely unique. Seating is on all 3 levels. Service was great, well maybe with the exception of the manager. I think it was the manager that was apparently temporarily on the front desk. But he could not smile of being bothered, about as unfriendly as it can get for someone in that position. The atmosphere is exceptional and the food was great. A little overpriced maybe.

3 of us came to Forepaugh's for dinner before a play at the Ordway. Pulling up, the house looks super cool; the inside continues that Victorian home feel, but gone restaurant. We were sat upstairs (I'm sure you can request to be on the main level if you have accessibility needs) in a corner window spot. Our server came over quickly & was super friendly & helpful, really personable. The 3 of us ended up ordering (to share): -Mussels appetizer (with extra bread) -Sweet Pea Agnolotti: super fresh & delicious -Crispy Skate: as the name suggests, the fish was crispy & tasty. The Brussels sprouts & potato puree were top notch -Steak Tartine: I eat primarily vegetarian & still gave this one a go, it was really delicious. The fries that came with it were also 10/10 -Farro Risotto (side): the texture was different than a normal risotto, but in a good way. This was one of my favorite parts of the meal! The only regrets we have were that we couldn't take the leftovers with us; this was definitely too much food for 3 people but SO AMAZING. I can't wait to come back!

Finally made it make since it reopening. Was really excited to come back after so many years. We had a birthday celebration dinner, perfect spot for it. Valet is $15 for those who care. We had a couple drinks while we waited for our table, was very good. The charm of this place is so cute. We got some meat and cheese tray for apps, all were excellent. Great quality on these. We also got the tuna crudo, wow! So good, was a hit at the table. For my dinner, I got the beef Wellington, I had thought about this since getting it many years ago. Guys, it's better than before! The new chef here is top notch. Everyone enjoyed all their meals as well, especially the burger and the fresh pastas. For dessert, they brought out a birthday cupcake, very cute. We also got the chocolate cake, was pretty good. Overall, perfect celebration meal. Food was perfect, service was excellent. Can't wait to make more stops here in the near future.

We took my in-laws to Forepaugh's as a Christmas gift and we had a great experience! Our server, Jack, was wonderful and did a great job making us feel celebrated. My mussels were flavorful and cooked well, and everyone else enjoyed their entrees as well, even my picky father-in-law. The fries were crispy and came with an addictive sauce. We were seated on the top floor which helped make it a quieter atmosphere where we were easily able to talk. Overall, a nice, upscale experience that was enjoyed by our whole group.

It's a really cozy moody interior, with *no big lights* aka great low lighting and comfy seating options. When we went, there were just a few other parties there so pretty quiet. I liked that we had a whole corner to ourselves with a sectional couch of sorts and some chairs. They close at 10pm on a Friday night, which felt absurdly early for a cocktail bar. But, we were able to order and drink one drink during the ~45 minutes we had. They closed up shop promptly at 10pm. They had a classics and a "rumors" section of the menu. I didn't think the signature drinks were overly unique, with classics like Paper Plane making that menu side. I had a pomegranate mojito which was good! Consensus was that the cocktails were good not exceptional, especially for the $16-17 price point. We ordered churros for the table which were a table favorite! I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again, but we enjoyed our time and could see this being a good option if you lived in the neighborhood and don't mind the early close hours.

I have been here two times in the last week and lemme tell ya.. this is quite the spot. I do suggest making a reservation because everytime I go here it is popping! What a vibey place, the lights aren't too bright, it gives a hip, fun, light energy and is not too pretentious but has INCREDIBLE FOOD AND DRINKS. Right now, one of their specials is whitefish toast.. if you enjoy fish at all, you need this. The fish is light and fresh, they put fresh dill on top and it is placed on top of some toasted sourdough bread perfectly. The fish is flavorful, a lil earthy and I feel as if there are capers or olives in in the fish mixture, whatever it is is fire! The burrata, beets, and citrus is a nice lovely, fresh, light app, the burrata is perfection with the beets and fresh, juicy citrus, drizzled with some oil and random pieces of garlic mixed in, YUM. I suggest ordering bread on the side with this one! The wings here are a staple and always delish. Crispy, hot, and coated perfectly in a light sweet chili sauce.. they hit the spot everytime. The housemade ranch is a perfect dipper. The other day I tried the chorizo and scallops... oh my goodness gracious.. it was a lil spicy and creamy with the bean puree and the scallops were buttery, light and divine! 10 outta 10 would do again. Finally, got the goat cheesecake, gluten free ginger snap crust with poached pears. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I want this now and in every lifetime! The cheesecake was light, yet decadent, deep, creamy with a light, unassuming flavor. The crust was delicious and the poached pears added that perfect fruit component. I got Liam as my server both times, he was helpful, attentive, had good suggestions when asked questions and didn't interrupt at all, amazing! This is the spot for any occasion!

It is in the Mac-Groveland neighborhood so there is ample street parking nearby if you turn on any of the side streets. The restaurant does get busy at dinner, so I recommend making a reservation ahead of time. They have many unique options for cocktails and mocktails. I opted for the Slaychel which is a non-alcoholic beverage that I think of as an elevated mimosa. It is fruity, slightly tart, and delicious! The service was great! Our water was frequently refilled and never got empty, and our server asked about any allergies and dietary restrictions before we ordered. They were able to modify menu items to fit the different dietary restrictions! Two people in our party (including myself) are vegetarians and one member is gluten-free and also doesn't consume much dairy or eggs. They were able to serve the patatas bravas with the egg on the side and the grilled asparagus with the egg and cheese on the side so we were able to all share the starters. The patatas bravas were wonderful! The potatoes are perfectly crispy but still fluffy. The tomato sauce was slightly smokey and had a very slight kick (think Minnesota spice) and it balanced out well with the creamy tomato. If you're only going to try one appetizer, this is the one to try! The asparagus was also nice. The salsa verde had a slight kick (a bit more than the tomato sauce from the patatas bravas, but not super spicy. Still Minnesota level of spice). The shallots also added a nice crispy texture to the dish! The egg really stood out in this dish, with its runny yolk and batter coating. There were a lot of nice elements and textures. As for pastas, I split the Spaghetti and Radiatore with a friend. The Radiatore was nutty and tangy, and the serving size was generous. I enjoyed it, but I would order the Spaghetti over it any day! I don't even know how to describe the Spaghetti and do it justice. It was creamy, cheesy, delicious. Our server said it was a staff favorite, and I understand why. If you're looking for a vegetarian option, go with this one!! Even if you aren't a vegetarian, give it a try. It's so classic, and it's done so well. For dessert: they give free churros when you're dining in! They are served warm with a chocolate drizzle. We also ordered the Honey Cake which we enjoyed a lot! The cake itself was light, like a mousse. There was some crunch from the hazelnut praline and honeycomb toffee pieces. It was nutty and sweet but not overly sweet. It was a perfect way to finish off the meal! Estelle was delicious and the service was great! I can't wait to come back!

I went here with my twin sister, her husband, her husbands 2 brothers and one of his brother's fiance who were in town. All are foodies. All wanted to experience a good night out to titillate the tastebuds. For I try to impress upon out of town guests that not everyone in MN is of Scandinavian origin! But I digress... The food is just...awesome! Presentation is completely unique, including flaming drinks, an assortment of vessels for the dishes to accommodate the dish with an interesting flare without compromising ease of consuming or taste. Patatas bravas, tequenos, and rompe colchon were excellent. I mean mouth wateringly amazing. Shrimp in the rompe colchon was cooked PERFECTLY and the balance of the sour leche de tigre and mango made the dish interesting for the palate. Broccolini side dish was also cooked perfectly and the cheese foam gave a unique twist to the side dish. I ordered the bollitos pelones and OH MY GOODNESS. Think huge fried (but not greasy) ball of corn dough (like tamale but grains not so fine) stuffed with braised lamb and swimming in a dark, curry and spiced sauce. It was SOOOO GOOD and nothing like I'd ever had before. I also tried the pasta with rabbit and UMAMI! it was tasty. Also unique flavor that I cannot quite identify and the sauce to meat to pasta ratio was perfect. LOVED this experience and will 10000000% go back!

There was only one guy waiting tables and working the bar and he did such a great job on such a snowy night. Three of us got the burgers in our group and only one of us thought the burger lived up to its reputation. Apparently I'm a burger snob now. I still don't think I'll find one better than Saint Dinette. (RIP )
