Restaurant week short rib
Lindsay S.

This was my 2nd time here and i was excited as I rated Lela a 5 the last time. This time, I stoped here for Restaurant week and was excited that there was so seafood on the menu!! I don't normally get to eat the tasting menus as I don't eat beef or pork. (SwordFish was not a good choice) We had a good server but he got slammed and was maybe new? It took us a while to get our drinks/ restaurant week menu/ anything. Fortunately we had time and weren't starving as we ordered calamari to get a little snack and they also delivered bread. The bread was soft and the calamari was tasty. I would get again. Restaurant week 1st course: I got the tuna tostada and they were tiny but tasty! Another person got the ceviche (didn't excite me) and another got the menu (I'm sure it was good!) Restaurant week main course: My friends ordered the short rib- said it was meh and not that great. I got the swordfish and was very excited about it as I haven't had in years. I took one bite and knew something was wrong with it. It was flavorless, spongy with an off wateriness. The aftertaste was horrible. I can't explain it. I wasn't going to eat more of it. It seemed like frozen swordfish with the food service grill lines because it wasn't cooked through or warm enough to get those lines. *why do I still rate this place a 4?!? Because the server fixed it and I picked out one of the best items on the menu that sounded safe. The gnocchi (not on restaurant week menu). It took 25 min to get this but it was worth it!!! That gnocchi is incredible! Get it! It was packed full of flavor and clearly was hand made. Also, the crème brûlée was so incredible and made me happy they made it in house. I will be back for more on their regular menu but may avoid restaurant week items that aren't on their normal menu! Note: my friend that ate her whole swordfish was violently ill the next day... who knows but I'm glad I sent it back. I don't normally but trust your pallet.

Food is delicious, staff is attentive and friendly, and prices aren't too bad for a hotel restaurant. The menu is significantly shortened due to trouble with staffing, but still good options to choose from. The ambiance isn't bad either.

It's been more than 5 years since I was last at Lela.. I hear they no longer have a AYCE brunch anymore , while it's a bit sad to see that go it makes sense. Our dinner was pretty good, I only got a few pictures but the rest was just as pretty. The service was great. Not over attentive or under attentive. The place looks as good as I remember. It's not super romantic but on the way there.

I am staying at the Sheraton on. business for 3 nights and this was my first night in town after a day of traveling. I wanted to get a nice quality meal before my busy week begins. I got a half Cesar salad with salmon, side of asparagus and fries. This is not a 3 dollar sign restaurant. My salad was drenched in dressing, salmon was cooked on a flat top grill (under cooked), crutons from a mass produced bag, asparagus was too al dente, but the fries were great. I could have had this same meal at an Apple Bees... not trying to be snarky, but honest. Bartender told me they were busy to explain why my food was taking long. I didn't care about the wait, it's the quality that was insufficient. Everything is expensive I get it, but you can use inexpensive ingredients and make it appear to be more high end.

Everytime I visit Minneapolis, I eat at Lela's for many reasons. The service is always great, the place allows for good conversation, and the food is always terrific. The pasta is house-made on site, and the sauce was very tangy and appealing. Waters are always refilled without requesting. I will probably be returning soon.

I came in for the first time for restaurant week with a few friends and had a great time! We ordered a round of drinks to start, they were tasty but very standard. For apps, we did the meatball, scallops, and ceviche. The meatball was massive and more than enough to share for 3 of us. The ceviche was a little more difficult to share & light on chips, but packed with flavor. The scallops came in an order of three and were the highlight of the course. For dinner, we had the short rib, snapper, and gnocchi. The short rib was a hearty portion of fall off the bone tender meat with potatoes. The snapper was good, but I didn't feel like it was cohesive as a dish & the cook was just okay. The gnocchi was such a different texture than I'm used to and it was phenomenal. It was almost cheese like and paired perfectly with the mushroom & tomato pesto.

This was the best part of staying at the hotel. We've eaten many times here during our stay because it was convenient. Parking is ample since there is a large parking lot. For breakfast, I had two eggs any style (scrambled eggs with bacon and sourdough toast). You really cannot go wrong with this choice. I've also had the butternut squash ravioli. This was delicious, the sage and the mixture with the almond sauce made it decadent. It's one of the better hotel restaurants that I've been to and would recommend trying it at least once.

Just popped in for drinks and dessert, but both were excellent. The atmosphere was very cozy and calm and service was fantastic. Got a Kir Royale and Apple Panna Cotta. The drink was a festive way to end the evening and the dessert was delicious (even though it was more like a cheesecake). Others had food that looked great as well.

Crab cake eggs benedict...derp, eaten...
Lindsay F.

I came here for breakfast, since I was in the area, which is a rare occasion, for a work detail. It was so tasty. I got the crabcakes eggs, Benedict and a hollandaise sauce that was sincerely perfectly balanced. Some hollandaise sauces just taste like mayo, or are super watery, or super sour. This was the perfect balance of well seasoned, sour, umami and, yes, I'm saying it, great mouthfeel. It has the right amount of seasoning, the sauce did not separate, and the béarnaise...it's just delicious. The egg was cooked perfectly with a soft yolk that breaks over the crabcake and English muffins like you always want. I really appreciated the salad, which had a nice acidic vinaigrette on it, to break through the savory food. So many times you see eggs, Benedict, paired with hashbrowns, and then it's just so heavy. It's hard to enjoy. and also, it is a beautiful location, beautiful, decor, and the services are just great. I wish I lived closer! Easy parking, too! I hope to stop by again when and if I'm in the area!

Fiore - 8.7/10 3 of us ordered this drink and it was very good, simple gin-based drink. The drops of herb-infused EVOO on the top was a nice touch and a refreshing cocktail. Lablabi - 8.1/10 None of us had tried a dish like this before. Fun combo of burrata, chick peas, harissa paste, and croutons. It really worked well together and is apparently a staple dish in Tunisia. Caesar salad - 7/10 Very light, good parmesan, lemony, I would have liked more toppings but given how creamy many of the other dishes were, perhaps a lighter start to the meal was good. :) Banh mi pizza - 9.2/10 This was their pizza of the day. It was so tasty with slow roasted pork, cucumber, and a delicious curst. Excited to come back another time and try their hot honey pepperoni. Pappardelle alla lisa - 8/10 Having ordered pappardelle a few times recently, I'm finding it's not my favorite noodle because it's more floppy and less chewy because of how wide and thin it is. Regardless, still a good dish, the meat sauce was a little more muted in flavor than I expected, maybe the nuttiness of the grana padano contributed to a different flavor profile. Cavatelli - 9.5/10 This was the best dish of the night and surprised us all! How could butternut squash be so good. However, this was like the best, creamiest mac and cheese. Such a satisfying texture, the boursin sauce was incredible. This is one of those rare special dishes I will remember and come back for some day. Lasagna - 9/10 Really good white lasagna, creamy sauce, with a mushroom-forward flavor. It's nice having a thinner two-layer lasagna. Chicken Parm - 8.9/10 So different than everything else on the menu! Incredibly crispy deep fried chicken with some good spices from chili crisp. Felt like eating ribs because they were served on a skewer. Spaghetti - 7.9/10 Savory olive oil and butter sauce, well prepared dish with zucchini, lighter than the other pasta dishes. Budino/Lemon meringue - 8.4/10 Excellent custard/pudding and mix of flavors Cannolis French silk - 8.2/10 I don't typically go for cannolis because of the ricotta filling but these were very good. Also great crispy texture. Nice atmosphere and service. Walking up to the exterior of the restaurant you wouldn't expect such a high quality dining experience. Recommend checking it out!

I want a butternut squash soup with all those amazing flavors! The dill pickle pizza was also great and I'd get it again, though nothing quite beats the state fair pickle pizza for me! I was really bummed to learn that the fried onion on the burger & some of their other fried foods are done so with beef tallow and therefore aren't vegetarian/vegan friendly. This is the primary reason I'm giving it a 3/5 instead of 5/5. I am extremely grateful to our wonderful waitress for bringing this to my attention ahead of time and helping guide me to which menu items were still vegetarian friendly but found my options to be a lot more limited. The food that we did have was good! The Mac and cheese was rich and delicious. Our drinks were also really well made and enjoyable!

The restaurant is spacious, with ample seating, including booths, hightop tables, and a bar area. The space would definitely be able to accommodate a large group. The restaurant was well lit, although they do add a candle to each table for dinnertime. It is clean and relaxed space. It would be a great space for gathering with work colleagues. I ordered a strawberry bellini and breakfast burrito (it is super nice that they serve breakfast until 4 pm)! The burrito came with a side of breakfast potatoes which were crispy and perfectly salted! The breakfast burrito included rice, eggs, cheese, and was topped with sour cream, salsa, beans, and green onions! I also ordered it with vegan chorizo added! I found it to be filling but not too heavy. If you're looking for a saucy, greasy, super mind blowing breakfast burrito, this isn't it. Note, they do NOT take reservations so it's first come, first serve. Our original wait time was around 1 hour but it ended up only being 35 minutes. Parking is quite limited but due to eating later in the evening, we were able to get a parking spot in their lot. Broaders' has both patio and indoor seating. Being the middle of winter, we sat inside. It's not an overly large restaurant so be prepared to wait during busier meal times (like dinner on the weekends). Our waitress was very nice, answered our questions, and helped us select the perfect wine. Shortly after ordering our wine, they brought out a complimentary bread basket which was delicious! We asked for butter and more of the foccaccia because it was SO good. For our mains, we got the Greek Salad, Ravioli Di Zucca, and Spaghetti Con Polpette. WOW! I don't have a single complaint. The greek salad was flavorful with all the mixed vegetables and dressed perfectly. The Ravioli Di Zucca was buttery and delicious and the Spaghetti Con Polpette was probably the best spaghetti and meatballs we've ever had. Somehow we had room for dessert and opted for the Tiramisu. It was good, not great. I didn't love that it was cut in the shape of a pie vs. a square -- Something about that threw me off. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend going to Broaders' Pasta Bar! You won't regret it!
