Great food and drinks. I was disappointed to learn the previous restaurant Sonder Shaker had closed. Wanted to come check out the new spot that took over. I was pleasantly surprised. I had the rigatoni minus the sausage and shared some bruschetta. I'm not a vegetarian, just don't eat pork. The pasta with no meat was a hit. The bread was so good. Loved the Can't Hardly Wait cocktail too. Service was fast and friendly, and I like the rustic Italian and olive tree decor. I'll be back to try more.

The moment you walk in, you're transported to a hidden café in the heart of Italy. The recent rebrand has transformed this place into something truly stunning--warm, inviting, and full of character. I was welcomed by Sheila, the manager, whose energy and passion for the restaurant set the tone for the entire experience. She's absolutely incredible--genuine, attentive, and clearly takes pride in the place. Shortly after, I was greeted by Francesca, who introduced herself (a rare and refreshing gesture!). She was prompt, personable, and brought out my drink right away. Excellent service from start to finish. I ordered the rigatoni and house-made bread, and both were next-level. The rigatoni was cooked to perfection, served with a flavorful spicy fennel sausage sauce that delivered just the right amount of heat. The bread? Absolutely magnificent--freshly baked and paired with a lemon thyme butter that was nothing short of heavenly. Truly one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. Already planning my next visit. Bravo to the entire team!

Very tasty Italian restaurant in Northeast Minneapolis! Parking was paid street parking but there were many spots available on a Sunday evening. Service was great, super quick and happy to answer questions. All of the food was delicious and reasonably priced for what you get.

this place just opened up in May and my god i need them to get more business because they very much deserve it!!!! seems like a family owned business with a small menu but every dish is made with so much love and deliciousness. every item we got came out piping hot, super yummy, and were generously portioned. the pastas were amazing and their homemade sauces made them even better. the prawns on the aglio e celio were some of the best shrimp i've ever had in minneapolis. super fresh, perfectly cooked, and HUGE! i also got the juicy cocktail and it was made with carrot juice. never had anything like it before but definitely need to have it again. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to support a new local business. the employees were super friendly.

Visited 5/14/25. Taking the place of sonder shaker, looked forward to visiting this new pasta joint. I started with an aperol spritz which was pretty standard and refreshing. From there my friends and I split the bruschetta and arancini. The texture of the arancini didn't really do it for me-there were peas inside and while I adore peas it didn't really work. Also warm but not super hot and melty like the best arancini are. The bruschetta was fine and I loved the smattering of Parmesan on it but didn't feel worth it for the price point. I got the tuffoli with ragu and my friends got the lemon spaghetti. Nothing tasted crazy fresh or had a depth of flavor and I would've loved homemade pasta with the price points given. Overall, it was a fine meal but wouldn't necessarily be my pick for a night out eating pasta. (To be fair I'm picky with my pasta places though). Service was great though and fun drink options available.

Amazing cocktails and savory entrees! Delightfully surprised of everything we ordered. Our server Sarah went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. Her recommendations did not disappoint.

I miss Sonder Shaker. Small, expensive portions. Staff is overconfident and strange. This place is over their head. Business will fail soon.

Walked ten minutes to eat here to get turned away because we were not staying at the hotel. Staff at the door were not friendly.

Small Hours is such a cool concept. It feels like a European wine bar dropped right into a…read moreneighborhood setting. The wine list is really thoughtful and leans toward smaller, lesser-known producers and unique regions. Even if you know wine well, there are still plenty of interesting picks here. Just note that by-the-glass options are limited, so it's more of a place where you end up ordering a bottle. The space is beautifully designed. Very minimal, clean, and intentional. It feels elevated without being overdone. It is definitely expensive for what it is. Both the wine and food lean high in price, but you're also paying for the atmosphere and overall experience. The menu is also a bit different in a fun way. The tinned fish selection stands out and isn't something you see often. The radish butter and bread was a highlight and absolutely worth ordering. Service is a little unconventional since you order at the counter, which feels a bit off given the pricing, but everything still runs smoothly.

We pivoted to just a glass and a starter and went some place else after experiencing the place. Though there are 3 staff working the front area, we had to order at the counter. That really pulls us from our date setting. Also, deciding when to join the line to pay at the end? At one point I said, should I pause this story so you can pay or finish the story? Not the date vibe we were going for. It felt like the staff were watching us. The seating was uninviting -- add some pillows to the bench and the stools would be very unpleasant. The music was very loud coming from the front speakers and it felt like we had to talk loud to be heard (and so did the table a couple over from us, which we could hear every word). I'd love to write about the food (great) and wine (seems like a well curated selection) or even the music selection, but overall it was not worth the ambiance. To steal a line from another review (KS, spot on): "[Their] menu invites questions. It invites curiosity and conversation." -- not something you can have in a line at a counter. If we are supposed to order a bottle of wine and stay awhile, I want to feel like we are welcomed. Some warmth and table service would go a long way. We left and had the fantastic intimate dining experience and date night within walking distance.
