We came into Dario to celebrate a birthday, and boy am I glad we did. This restaurant ticks all the boxes. Dario is an absolutely beautiful restaurant. I love the pink and green, and the place settings are gorgeous. Bonus: the team is super fast with clearing and bringing replacements so you always have a clean plate. Add in huge windows that brings in tons of light, and you have one of the most photogenic eateries in town. Dario's beverage menu is wonderful, and I especially want to draw attention to their extensive selection of non-alcoholic options. In addition to house-made sodas and creative cocktails, they have a wonderful list of dealcoholized wines--awesome news for anyone who is looking for a zero proof drink. As for the food, Dario knocks it out of the park with a menu that offers options for all tastes. The menu is designed to share, and the variety ensures that there will be something for everyone. The first two dishes that ai sampled were the Gem Lettuces, which our server described as "a Caesar salad on steroids" and the Morel Mushrooms. The Gem Lettuces were delicious--the zippy vinaigrette was better than any Caesar I have had before, the cheese was a fluffy, savory, and salty delight, and the puffed farro was a pleasing alternative to the usual croutons. Bonus: it's fish-free! I'd say that it's less a Caesar salad on steroids and more what happens when the Caesar salad next door goes off to college and has a glow-up. The morels were served on polenta and complemented with Madeira and tarragon. They came with a confit egg yolk. The presentation was strikingly beautiful, and the flavors pure and harmonious. The morels were cooked perfectly and went beautifully with the wine and tarragon--it was a great dish for spring, and everyone enjoyed the layers of texture and flavor. For our pasta choices, we had the English Pea Triangoli that Lu recommended (thanks Lu!) and the doppio. It's easy to see why Dario is known for its pasta--these dishes were amazing. The English Pea Triangoli was otherworldly: sweet peas, snap peas, onions, mint, and pea sprouts come together with butter to make a nostalgic little bite of heaven. It tastes like spring. Sicilian pistachios add crunch and another layer of sweet and salt, and the lightly steamed vegetables and fresh pea shoots and mint also added layers of texture and freshness. Positively superlative. The Doppio was also gorgeous: one side is filled with ricotta and the other sunchoke. Honey adds sweetness and the hazelnuts toastiness reminiscent of browned butter. The rosemary complemented it all. For my dessert, I had the Earl Gray tea cake. It had a very pleasing crumb and subtle sweetness, and the lemon whipped cream was the perfect accompaniment. The sprinkle of toffee cookie added a lovely caramelized crunch, and the bright acidity of the rhubarb was preserved, making for a juicy and refreshing burst of flavor in every bite. Splendid! I've been watching people enjoy the delightful pasta at Dario from afar for too long! I had to check it out for myself and I was not disappointed! Tucked away in its own little corner of North Loop, there is some paid parking directly outside otherwise walking from nearby street parking is possible too! The interior of the space is whimsical and fun with green and pink interior design elements, gold accents, and fun artwork! It truly feels like a special escape from reality when inside...similar to an Alice in Wonderland experience. Our server was incredibly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about what to order. I particularly appreciated how our pasta came out in intentional courses from lightest to heaviest. It absolutely elevated the meal to top notch. Known for their handmade pasta, we didn't mess around with any other menu items...we just ordered four different plates of pasta: Doppio, Torteletti, Rigatoni Alla Vodka, and Tajarin! The Doppio was my favorite, with a unique double filled pasta that had a savory sunchoke filling highlighted with a pop of whipped ricotta. The Rigatoni was cozy and warm, serving up perfect comfort food vibes. The Tajarin was the ocean in a bowl and my partner's favorite, but it was a bit too salty for my palate. The food was top notch and the environment was stellar, but I did feel a bit of cognitive dissonance. The food was so grounded, earthy, and cozy yet the interior was whimsical, playful, and ethereal. This disconnect took my out of the experience a bit. Add in that the price points are a bit high, and I could see why some might have different expectations. This Amazing on trend Minneapolis Gem in the north loop is a must go to. All the cocktails and drinks are outstanding and unusually delicious and unique. Start with an array of tastings with the lobster pasta, then the delicious flavors of the lamb cuisine, and of course the halibut fish option is oooh so good. We concluded our food extravaganza of culinary excellence with the decadent but light chocolate cake, and the coconut sorbet and the another delicious cake dessert. The ambience and excitement of the environment styled restaurant and atmosphere lends itself to a pleasant and fun space to kiki with friends. Our server was very helpful making suggestions for our first time visit. I ordered the Orecchiette. I cannot put into words how much I loved the entrée. My spouse ordered the goat cheese and eggplant tortelli. Also excellent. Our servers suggested we share our entrées which was with without a doubt the right way to go. We decided to check out Dario with the weather being so hot and humid, preventing us from enjoying anything outside. Good suggestion by my spouse. I wanted to love this place so bad after waiting months to check it out and seeing it blow up online but I can't get on board with it. The pastas were good, don't get me wrong but for the price and the portions...I'm out, nothing had me feeling like I HAD to come back. Full transparency we left after 3 pastas, 3 cocktail/mocktails, $170+ later and got burgers down the street because we were still hungry and disappointed in the experience. The service was so rushed and meh - told us we had to order all at once and not look back, no real feeling like we could enjoy our time and rushed us out of there. Maybe checked in on us once and our food even came before the cocktails which is the worst! The decor doesn't match the food, it's cute inside but confusing with the cuisine. I can't figure it out, people love it here and I understand prices of food and dining out now days but this definitely didn't do it for us. I've been to Dario twice now and have nothing but good things to say about them! Just found out chef Jack used to be at Demi, which made so much sense why these dishes tasted and was presented in such a beautiful manner that was so Demi-esque. I was hesitant to order an olive oil cake but omg it was amazing!! It was so good I forgot to take picture before digging in there was pistachio, fresh nectarines, icecream and whipped cream on this. One of my favorite olive oil cakes I've ever had - not too sweet and with different textures. Same goes to their take on Vietnamese coffee, not too sweet with various textures in there. If you're a person who don't get desserts often, here's the place to do it and you won't be disappointed! We also got beef tartare, hiramasa crudo and NA red wine (not pictured). All extremely good and fresh. We first went when they opened a couple years back and their quality is still as remembered. People are friendly and respectful. Went to Dario for a quick dinner, the vibe is absolutely adorable, very cute and girly! The service was also great, different style in the sense it comes out when it's ready so order everything at once and the waitress structures it but overall we got everything at a good time. Now for the food, wow, the gem lettuce was delicious, would come back just for that. The fried potato cake was different, it was good but not the star which is ok. It was essentially a hash brown with caramelized onions then topped with the cream, there is Tabasco in it and you can tell, had a bit of a kick. Finally the spicy rigatoni, it was so good, handmade pasta and you can tell. Great flavors and overall outstanding, I was spicy but not too spicy. Frankly, the price of this food was much too expensive for the quality, portion size, and presentation. The app (crudo) had amazing flavor in the sauce though the rest of it was subpar. You have to be up for a fun colorful restaurant that can sometimes be louder than others (not too loud) and open to fun twists on pasta but it never disappoints. We split 3 pastas, a salad, and the quail at our table and everything as always was perfection. The gem salad with a mountain of parm and the puffed farro is a perfect little Caesar salad ish moment, but the quail - omg the quail! It was insanely good. Small menu, though I gather it rotates with some regularity. I went with Spicy Rigatoni alla Vodka, which was perfect despite not actually being a spicy dish. Superb balance of pasta, sauce, sausage. Good portion size. Great flavor to the sauce. I had room for dessert and went with the cup of cake and ice cream, which was just okay. Small portion with a very nice little scoop of ice cream that tasted like awesome homemade vanilla, but the actual cake was dense and mediocre. I also had their homemade root beer which was great and I would get that again for sure. Despite the cheekiness of the dude who tried to seat us in Siberia at the bar, we enjoyed the pasta at Dario. The guy led us from the check-in desk to two rear seats at the end of the bar, even though there were a ton of seats in the middle. I pleaded with him not to seat us at the end and asked for seats in the middle of the bar. He frowned and sat us where I had requested, then said sarcastically, "Maybe you will enjoy yourself." I have no idea what he meant. He was scornful of our age, so screw him, but I hope someone throws him out on his butt for his arrogance. He shouldn't be working with the public. TLDR: It was good, it was not great for the service and the price, and I was glad I was coming here mostly with someone else's money (took a guest here for my company). The food was solid. I particularly enjoyed our steak tartare appetizer, which combined the classic nom nom fresh and raw with Asian seasonings, heavy on the spice. Sort of like steak tartare meets lettuce wrap. We also enjoyed the house-made pastas, but felt that for the cost, the portions were pretty small (and yeah, we did come hungry, as one does for a special occasion). Other dishes were misses, e.g. a black pepper gem lettuce salad turned out to basically be a boring Caesar. The "cake and ice cream" dessert lacked a molten center, the ice cream was just ordinary vanilla, and overall we really regretted ordering 2 of these for a table of 4 bc neither got finished. The drinks program was, again, kinda OK but did not amaze. The cocktails are standard recipes tweaked with a novel ingredient or blend, but it's hard to taste that uniqueness. The wines are similarly good, but $19 for a pour is a difficult price to swallow. Basically, this is a place to go when you want to show someone that you simply do not care what you spend. The potatoes were tasty but underwhelming. The doppio pasta was exceptional! The broccoli mezzaluna was good but in my opinion lacked texture. My second trip to Dario was fine but left some to be desired. We made a reservation and scored a front row spot. We were seated right away while we awaited our friend. All of the food tasted delicious, the small plates were perfect for sharing, each with their unique flavors. Honestly enjoyed the flavors of everything. Downside (imo): prices are high overall. An alcoholic drink averaged ~$16, and the NA drinks were not much cheaper. I appreciate that they're craft drinks but I would prefer to try another dish at that price. Also, I would appreciate more "common" language descriptions of the drinks and dishes to be more approachable overall. I really enjoyed the vibe of this restaurant; light, airy, and bright! The color scheme is very trendy, greens and pinks, very much reminiscent of "Wicked". The menu is small but has a lot of interesting options. We started with the spring salad, which was great (interesting flavors and textures), and the potato dish (which was a bit odd - like a cheese covered hash brown). For our mains we got the lamb shank dish, which was unique and lovely but pretty small, and the short rib agnolotti, which I really enjoyed, but I wish it had more of the polenta. Typed this review two hours after leaving and while ordering fast food. The service was good, restaurant was beautiful. For the starters, we chose the gem lettuce and potatoes. Both were great. The gem lettuce was sharable, the combination of the vinaigrette, pecorino, puffed farro, it was so good. The potatoes were also sharable and great. Crispy potatoes, with caramelized onions and potato foam on top made it very unique. Entree we ordered the 8oz hanger steak and the doppio. Both were terrible. We asked for a medium well cook on the steak, it was very cold and still moo'ing when it came out. The pasta was also very cold, which was maybe how it's supposed to be served but was awful. Everything tasted very similar, nothing standed out. I'm glad the ricotta was one of the stuffings because it bought some sort of neutral taste to your pallet to get rid of everything else. The description of the doppio reads "sunchoke, ricotta, honey, hazelnuts, rosemary". I'm not sure many people would know it's a stuffed ravioli, let alone two different types of stuffing. Both entrees were light servings, which is understandable for the vibe of the restaurant, but neither was completed by us. It was unbearable. The chocolate cake with the vanilla ice cream - I am unsure why restaurants still have this on their dessert menu. You freeze or refrigerate these cakes, they are incredibly dry, your fudge in the middle will always freeze up, and you always serve it cold. This was also a dish we did not complete. We paid $143 for this meal. In addition to $6 to self park for $15 for valet. I would only recommend to go there for a pretty cocktail and a starter. read more

Our server was friendly but very spacey and definitely forgot my entree of the seabass as it didn't come until we were sitting around waiting and the restaurant was empty and I had to ask for it. Also the bar/drink menu is very limited, definitely not a full bar and they were out of a lot of the wines. Tried some of the pastas and a few were pretty good, I liked the rigatoni alla vodka. My sea bass was small and thin and on the dry side. The curry broth at the bottom of the bowl was much needed for the pieces of fish I was served. Overall, this place wasn't a wow. It has an outdoor patio, but I recommend sitting inside with the fun ambience. You either have to get the Spicy Rigatoni allá Vodka or the Doppio. The rigatoni is your quintessential red sauce fix with a hint of spice that isn't overpowering. The doppio is a sweeter, more savory option that is super original and unique. Went here for a romantic evening with the husband. They seated us 15 minutes after our reservation which wasn't the best of starts. Our server Maddy was very kind and attentive. We tried the potatoes and broccolini to start. Potatoes were cooked amazing, but needed some salt. The broccolini was fabulous! We also has the Doppio which was sweet and delicious! The Braised Duck Risotto was a special they added to the menu and was really rich! Finished off with the steak which was beautiful and way bigger than we thought it would be! Lots of NA drink options including NA wines. We did the valet which ended up having a lot of hidden fees. ~$19 before tip, but it was super convenient. The Dry-Aged Duck Breast was fantastic - a healthy sized portion, perfectly cooked, and the au jus sauce was perfection! The Broccoli Mezzaluna was a delicious and inventive filled pasta! Came here for a Valentines dinner at 7pm. Parking is a bit confusing, but they do have $15 valet. The restaurant ambiance is fun! I like the feminine vibe. We were promptly greeted by our server Spencer, who had great energy and was super friendly. I enjoyed the insight and recommendations he gave. We had the Doppio and Spicy Vodka Rigatoni. The Doppio had a rich brown butter flavor with flakey sea salt and rosemary. It melted in my mouth. Probably top 5 best pasta I've ever had. The Spicy Vodka Rigatoni was also unbelievable, it had the perfect amount of spice and was cooked al dente. We also had the gem lettuce salad which was crisp and refreshing, but the pasta was the real standout. Came here for my birthday dinner tonight. One star for the ambience...It's very bright, modern, and cute! Second star is for the staff's attentiveness with refilling our drinks and such. And for the last star, What I liked is that the pasta is made fresh daily! You can really taste it. Everything we got was good but it just wasn't "omg this is so good". It was lacking a little more salt and zing. And their cocktails wand dessert wasn't speaking to me. For starters we got the potatoes, It tasted like a very crispy hash brown with a cream sauce and caramelized onions. That was very good, the caramelized onions takes it to the next level. It just needed a pinch more salt. The doppio was good. It's similar to ravioli, It's pasta pillows stuffed with ricotta and sunchoke. I liked the nuts and honey that was paired with it. The other pasta, Beef Short Rib & Polenta Agnolotti was ok because the filling didn't taste that appetizing. The texture & smell threw it off. It reminded us of can tuna. This was my first visit and I cannot wait to go back! I loved the ambiance and colors, that was the first thing that stood out to me when I walked in besides that it was completely packed. We started off with the Maple Parsnip app which was pretty good, nice to have veggie apps before a pasta entree. The Short Rib and Polenta Agnolotti was absolutely delicious (which I expected because of what I have heard about it) but the Doppio...now that was a pleasant surprise. It was so delicate but so flavorful. The ricotta and sunchoke worked so well with the honey, brown butter, rosemary and hazelnuts. Highly recommend! Our bartender was very nice as well. read more
