Another wonderful evening at 112. We were sat in the smaller back room on the second level which had a quiet, intimate feel. Perfect for a date night. The service was excellent as always. Starters: 112 steak tartare and burrata toast w/ walnut pesto. Both must haves. We also love the khinkali dumpling (not pictured), but be advised it only comes with one per order. Mains: we both had the nori-crusted Babette w/ ponzu. Absolutely delicious, it's one of our favorite steaks in the city. Desserts: tres leches cake and mocha mousse torte w/ whipped mascarpone. Small, but impressive. Exceptional service. Great food... really great food. I started with an unexpected appetizer- the Jewish Artichoke - fried crisp, with a tomato sauce of sorts. Really yummy crispy outer edges, but didn't love the fibrous center (they need to cut it out). I enjoyed the Lamb Sugo pasta (slow roasted delight). My neighbors had the halibut - pan seared perfection, and the foie gras meatball tagliatelle... both proclaimed excellence! The food here is quite creative, unusual, and good, and I loved that!! You're started off with complimentary candied walnuts and olives in a spicy olive oil concoction. We got the 112 steak tartare, which is apparently what they're known for!! The bread was wayyy too crunchy for me (tho some ppl love that I'm sure), but the tartare itself was delicious!! The raw steak was marinated well, and had this creamy dressing with capers that paired well with the crispy onions. It was a few steps away from too many onions, but we didn't get there yet. ($23) The octopus with avocado puree, radish and mint salad portion was TINY, but the avocado itself was perfectly cooked, very tender, and just slightly crispy on the outside. ($19) The tajarin with green beans, corn, and talegio was my fav dish!!! I lovedddd the pasta, the subtle cheesy flavors, and the caramelized onions. The restaurant is huge. There's the bottom floor and second floor, but on the second floor there's another area for seating. We made reservations and there were plenty. We heard about their foie gras meat ball pasta and wanted to check it out. We came and I ordered a Smokey passion and boy oh boy, it was Smoky. It was good if you are looking at being slapped with smoke. I didn't mind it but my friend hated it. We proceeded to share their house beef tartare. I was not a fan, there was a weird taste to it that I was not able to pin down the flavor. It just threw me off. I'm still not sure what that weird taste was. Also the bread was pretty burnt, I felt they sent that bread to hell and took it half of it back. I ate around it but it was obviously not executed right. On to the foie gras pasta. Plenty of meatballs, pasta was pretty good. We both enjoyed it, however it took very long for it to come out. We sat there for like 30 minutes waiting for it. I had ordered another wine and drank almost all of it. The server did acknowledge the wait and apologized, which we appreciated. The tables are packed in close quarters, but everyone was very mindful of the space. For starters, we tried the frog legs - yum!! This was my first time trying frog legs and won't be my last based on this experience. For our mains, we had the Stringozzi with Lamb Sugo and the Nori Encrusted Bavette with Ponzu. The pasta was tasty and the lamb was well seasoned and marinated. The bavette was good, but not amazing. The service was perfect from beginning to end. Our visit to Minneapolis was all too brief, so as usual we outlined two or three restaurants at which to dine. 112 Eatery foiled that plan. It was so good the first night we at there that we chose to return a second time. This is a small casual place, so tight in places that the service staff often need to dance and weave around one another to serve guests. I love these types of restaurants, as long as the food is good. And the food, and drinks, here are great! The cocktail menu is one of the most creative I've seen. How many times do we find aquafaba, cocchi rosa, mole and honey-chili syrup as ingredients? And the Brown Butter Bourbon may now be my favorite drink. So smooth! (I have to learn how make this.) And every plate we had was delicious. My wife loved the cauliflower fritters , she had them twice. And I thoroughly enjoyed both the lamb scottadito and especially the gnocchi with lobster and arrabbiata sauce (which I sadly forgot to photograph). We highly recommend 112 Eatery! read more

This was our first time at 112 and we really enjoyed it! If you go you must get the burrata toast and the cauliflower fritters. They were both amazing! They filled us up but we really enjoyed the rest of our food as well! I don't think we would get the vegetarian pasta again but everything else we would definitely reorder. The servers were very attentive and nice and always asked if you had any questions. The ambiance is very cozy, we were on the ground floor. There aren't a lot of tables downstairs but there is an upstairs too. The area could be tough with parking but we found a spot quickly on the side street! Definitely recommend! read more

My partner and I came here to celebrate our anniversary. Based on them having beef tartare and lamb on the menu, I knew why partner would love it. We started off with the 112 tartare. It was good but was missing something...not sure what. We also had the octopus which was amazing. I had the prime bavette for my entree. It also was delicious and just the right size. For dessert, we split the butterscotch budino and a brown butter bourbon. I would return just for the budino! The brown butter bourbon is very much bourbon with a hint of browned butter. I'd made a reservation for a date night dinner online, specifying a table seating, but somehow on their end they had me down for bar seating. I double checked the confirmation email to make sure it wasn't my error, and sure enough it definitely had been a table reservation. We had to wait a little bit but they did accommodate us. The downstairs area was very noisy, more like a gastropub than a restaurant, but we were seated upstairs which was much better for a date atmosphere. The food was quite good and gastronomically interesting. I particularly found the nori-crusted steak to be unique and very, very good. My partner had the pan-fried gnocchi which were pillowy, savory, and delicious. We came out of dinner full and satisfied, and I'd certainly consider going back again. My host described the environment as "come as you are," and that is very apt. You'll be comfortable dressed casually. Going out on the town? That's okay, too. Dressed formally for a special event? All good--you will be comfortable. It feels classy but in a laid-back way. The food and drink offerings are sure to please everyone. There is an extensive beer and wine list, and there are plenty of cocktails as well. Zero Proof? They've got you covered! I enjoyed the Something Delicious (tart, sweet--it's a nostalgic treat!) and the California Love (imagine a Salty Dog but better), which definitely had me doing a little happy dance. For a cold started, we ordered the burrata toast, which was the winner of the evening. This dish was creative and delicious, hitting every last taste (sweet, savory, salty, tart, and bitter) in each bite, plus checking all of the texture boxes. The bite of garlic, freshness of the basil, toasty astringency of the walnuts, the tart-sweet-bitter marmalade, and the mild creaminess of the burrara just sang to me in a way that few dishes do. Add in the crunchy bread with the taste of the grill? It's one for your bucket list. For my main, I got the vegetarian pasta. It was great! Mushrooms, oil, and lemon on flawlessly cooked ribbons of pasta and topped with breadcrumbs and fresh parsley. It was so delicious I almost (almost!) regretted having eaten so much burrata toast. This was a perfect end-of-winter-early-spring entree. For our sides, we got the cauliflower fritters and the Swiss chard. The cauliflower fritters are yummy--whole florets surrounded by a crispy batter and topped with cheese. Don't forget to squeeze in some lemon! Very tasty. Non-veggie folks will enjoy the anchovy butter--my host said that it has a pleasant bite. Those of you who are fans of Greek flavors will enjoy the Swiss chard. In addition to the feta, it features that wonderful combination of tomato and cinnamon that you find in Mediterranean cooking but not elsewhere. It was an unexpected and completely delicious surprise. I was about ready to burst at the seams, even after taking half of everything home, but there was a dessert menu, and it was calling me. My host ordered the horchata mousse. I got to try a bite. If you like horchata, order it. If you like rice pudding, order it. If you like pleasantly starchy, mildly sweet, and lightly spiced desserts, order it. It was very good and not at all heavy. If, on the other hand, you're in the mood for something richer that has salty notes and a hint of bitterness from caramelization, try the budino. Butterscotch pudding is topped with a generous layer of toasty caramel and some creamy mascarpone. It's a rich and delicious treat, amd you absolutely deserve it. Minneapolis has a wonderful food scene and 112 Eatery is one of them. My family went here to celebrate my brother's birthday and the food was definitely a treat. The only disappointing thing was that the restaurant didn't do anything for my brother for his birthday. It is quite sad whenever a place decides to forgo the celebratory nature of a special occasion, and so I wouldn't recommend coming here if that's what you're looking for. The service here is pretty good, and the vibe of the restaurant makes for a nice date spot. Truthfully, I would have given this 4.5 out of 5 stars if I could but I didn't want to dock a star just for some small things. FOOD: Sautéed frog legs provençale (5/5) - The frog legs were tender and well-cooked. The sauce a little salty, but tasted great dipped in bread. Tagliatelle with foie gras meatballs (4.5/5) - The tagliatelle was so perfectly al dente and the creamy sauce paired with it tasted great. I am shocked to say that I actually felt there were too many meatballs with the pasta. The dish as a whole was a little rich, with no acid to cut through it. Gnocchi with lobster & arrabbiata sauce (4/5) - My dad enjoyed this dish but my brother was sad the lobster was few and far between and chopped pretty finely into the sauce. 112 Eatery has been on my list for quite some time, and we finally booked a Friday evening resi at the bar. The space is cozy and intimate, with just seven or eight bar seats and a handful of tables and booths. Upon arrival, we were directed to their upstairs space; I was initially worried the dark, cozy ambiance would change as we moved up a floor. However, their second level offered just as lovely a vibe with the same large windows overlooking third street. Our bartender was excellent, letting us try some of the mixes prior to ordering and suggesting cocktails based on our preferred liquor. He also gave us a full rundown of the menu. My friend started with an Old Fashioned, claiming it was a little sweet for her liking but a solid drink overall. I tried the Mole Mango Marg which had a kick from the Fresno but was quite light on the tequila. Not disappointed by either drink, just not wowed either. We also split a few dishes. The cauliflower fritters were encased in a pillowy pocket of fried dough and served with a bagna cauda sauce (think rich garlic flavor with a hint of anchovy- drinkable!). The fried bread with prosciutto was good but I would steer you towards their more unique dishes. And I know it seems silly to order a salad at the bar, but these "salads" were anything but basic. My friend and I agreed that the wilted kale salad was the star of the night. With a sweet and salty almond vinaigrette that generously coated well massaged, slightly soggy (in a good way) kale, we almost licked the bowl clean. I ordered a rum and coke the bar tender delivered it quickly but I don't know what was in the drink but it was awful...it had something in it that make the coke look whitish. I told the bar tender I could not drink it...she refunded me and I got a glass of wine instead. My meal was STRINGOZZI w/LAMB SUGO it was okay a little salty though and I was never offered parmigiano cheese or anything else. Overall I am not impressed with the food or the drinks...would I go back...probably not. There are a million very good restaurants in Minneapolis I would go to first. read more

I knew I would love this place when I tried the complimentary olives and nuts they start you with. I could have lived off those olives - they were better than any olives I've had before (I know that sounds insane). anyway, I got the romaine salad at the recommendation of my excellent server, Emma. It was such a simple salad I wasn't sure why she said it was her favorite - until I took a bite. it was incredible. I'm not sure how, but let's say I would come back just for that salad. The food ranged from just okay to really bad, the servers were all very busy and running around but also forgot about us a few times and slow service. The vibe from service was hurried, chaotic, and anxious. It felt inefficient to have so many wait staff running around to the same tables. They were walking really fast and bumping into each other a lot, covering the same ground - seemed like there were more efficient ways to plan service, even in a small space. Even before the bad food, we commented on how we could feel the stress from the staff. We were seated in an awkward spot between the elevator and where the kitchen entrance was (we had to move our table to stop getting bumped by each hurried anxious server running past). The food was unfortunately not good across the board. Appetizers: Octopus: was burnt on the outside, really dry. Only redeeming quality was the avocado sauce (small amount). Blue Prawns: fried, tasted like bar food - the breading was very basic and had a bad aftertaste, like the oil was old. Mains: Halibut: was so dry that it was almost inedible - we didn't finish it and the wait staff threw it away. Only redeeming quality was the lemon made it taste slightly better... but it was really really bad even with the lemon. Tagliatelle with Foie Grad Meatballs: the pasta was really dry, and the meatballs were just okay. Maybe a swig of olive oil would have helped, or extra pasta water or a bit of cream. This was the second best dish we had, unfortunately. The best dish - the only dish that we enjoyed - was the olives and nut mix at the start of the meal. The cocktails were nothing special, just okay. Our servers were kind and offering to comp us dessert for the long waits - specifically for when they forgot a drink entirely. This was kind. The desserts were okay. Unfortunately they missed the fact that we were celebrating both of our birthdays from the reservations, but we were ready to get out of there anyway. We were looking forward to it, and were surprised to have such a disappointing experience after reading so many positive reviews! I think this is a solid New American restaurant that serves many upscale and at time fusion Italian dishes. It is one of the most recommended restaurants in the Twin Cities, and I can definitely see why upon visiting it. The food is just overall very solid and reliable in terms of quality and taste, which I appreciated very much. My partner and I ordered a few different kinds of pasta, and they were all tasty and not too rich. I cannot remember if the shredded cheese was added to the pasta after the dish was given to us or not, but if it wasn't, then that would be a good idea. The caramelized green beans were slightly overcooked on the tips and edges, but I thought that may be less evitable due to the caramelization. In terms of dessert, both the tres leches cake and the cheesecake along with pistachio ice cream were very tasty! Overall I think this is a great place for one to go on a date and I would highly recommend it! The great thing about 112 Eatery is that as much as I don't find something I want to excitedly rave about about this restaurant's food, I also don't have anything I want to say that is constructive, which means that they have perfected their tactics and food quality over the years and have demonstrated their reliability, so that's the phrase I will describe them: reliably good! read more

Their plates are like tapas style, each piece is unique, and not oversized. Tagliatelle with Foie Gras Meatballs is our favorite. Just when you thought you were full, and debating... we ordered the mocha mousse, OMG, you would regret if I you didn't. It's so smooth and delightful. Ambiance is dark and trendy. Haven't been here since probably 2019. I loved coming here because of the crab salad and figured I'd come back again for it. This time around it wasn't as good as I remembered. The portion was definitely smaller than what they used to give and it wasn't as crisp and fresh. It still had good flavor but the leafy greens were more softer and a bit wilted. I loved loved loved the cauliflower fritters that I could eat a whole bucket! Drinks were really tasty! We decided to share the pasta dish and that was really good ! I do enjoy that they still offer complimentary olives and sweet and spicy nuts. My fiancé is allergic so I ate them and gave him the olives. We did not have a reservation but we're able to get seated upstairs at the bar which is my go to. It started getting more packed after 6pm. The ambiance was a hit and miss as o felt the music was having a bit of a personality battle. We would go from classical music to techno robotic music to rap to softer music and just didn't know what the vibe was for the night. Always one of my favorite local eateries. I've never had a bad item on the menu. Everything is fresh and interesting, there's always some old favorites as well as some new things to try. My personal favorites are the cheeseburger, the fois gras meatball pasta and the lamb scottadito. I have never sat down in the bar, only upstairs. It is definitely a loud place to hang out as it's just one open room with tall ceilings. Service is usually good. read more

Was in town and tried this place. A must visit restaurant. Fantastic vibe with even better service. We sat upstairs and the server did a great job. The tartar was insanely good. I ordered the halibut and it was crispy. The mashed potatoes were maybe the best of my life? Loved the buttery and lemon flavors. read more

I came here for a work dinner and there were 11 of us total. 112 Eatery did a great job of accommodating us by seating us in a private room, and allowing us to pre-order wine and appetizers. Our server was very attentive and never left a wine glass empty. All of our appetizers, entrées, and desserts were fabulous! Everything was very flavorful. For appetizers, you'll definitely want to get the country love with whipped butter- fresh bread with really good salted butter, what could be better?! For my entree I ordered the Nori Encrusted Sirloin with Ponzu. The char on the steak was perfection! My favorite side was the Pan-roasted salsify with lobster velouté. It wasn't at all what I was expecting, but the cream sauce over the root vegetable was so tasty! Don't skip dessert and definitely order the Tres leches cake. I was unsure how this would be- but it blew my mind! The Mocha mousse torte was my second favorite. If I lived close by, I would frequent this place often for a nice dinner or a romantic date! read more
