My family was looking for a place with a large patio to enjoy a nice Minnesota summer nightand this place delivered. The menu caters to a bar food scene with tasty pizzas, sandwiches, and burgers. We had pizza and burgers and we're not disappointed. High quality ingredients made common bar food exceptional. All of our food was great but one exceptional item was the stuffed avocados, very unique and good. Next time, we will try the armadillo eggs. Finally, don't skip on the psycho milkshakes. Totally worth $10 and loaded full of great stuff. I would come here just for one of their shakes. We had the Monster Cookie one and it hit the spot! Perfect way to end a fun meal. read more

Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon to grab a bite and watch some college football. The MN gopher game had just ended. The place was definitely short staffed...it seemed as though the only waitress was also the bartender so service was a bit slow. It was still busy in the restaurant from the game. I also politely asked if they could change a tv so I could watch my alma mater's football game. I'm a patient person but that took roughly 20ish minutes for her to change it...I think she forgot and then all of a sudden remembered. I ordered what I ordered the last time which was the chimichurri cauliflower steak bowl. It was great but missed the lime wedge it had on my last visit. The food was good. I also noticed that when she did have time to check in on my hubby who was drinking beer she didn't notice that my drink was empty as well as my sons. Therefore she didn't ask if we needed a refill. Ok... no one has told me until now that Tipsy Steer has great food! I ventured with friends after a work gathering and they ate dinner but we ate dessert! Psycho shakes are huge! **SHAREABLE!** I was craving chocolate and my friend wanted strawberry. I got the Monster cookie shake. It was very sweet and had a ginormous special K bar on the top. This could have been a treat on its own! I tried some of the strawberry shortcake shake and that was really really good. I would get either of these again and they were gigantic for $10! Came here with friends after an activity and we were all starving. It was a good spot to sit and catch up since there was plenty of seating and we didn't have to wait, even with a bigger group. The milkshakes were definitely the highlight. Super fun and over the top, with cake or donuts piled on top. They looked ridiculous in the best way and actually tasted amazing. The rest of the experience was just okay. The place is pretty dark inside which makes it feel a little gloomy, and the food options for vegetarians were really limited. It was kind of disappointing trying to find something decent on the menu that didn't have meat. Overall, it was fine for a casual stop with friends, but not sure I'd go out of my way to come back unless it was just for the milkshakes. read more

My family and I ate a great lunch here while in town recently, staying in a nearby hotel. Though it was busy we were seated and helped right away. We enjoyed some of the beer brewed on site and we had wings and a great pizza, "The Flight". There were several large tvs showing the World Cup final soccer game so that was nice to have as well! read more

I came here with a friend recently and we had trouble picking something from the menu. Everything looked good to us :). She ended up getting the chicken fingers (which weren't good she said) and I picked the sunnies and chips. I hadn't had sunnies in many many years and I missed them. It should have been called fries with and a bit of fish. I loved the fries and I liked the fish. However, there were only 4 sunnies on a heaping pile of fries. This was super disappointing seeing as the ratio of fries to fish was super disappointing. There should have been at least 6 sunnies minimum. No problem parking, once inside, we seated ourselves. We were greeted and drink orders taken. We split a burger and the tips appetizer. Both were very eye-appealing and delicious. Appetizer: Brussels Sprouts ($10). Broiled sprouts, cut in half, with Bleu Cheese and Prosciutto bits on top. Most places broil sprouts with Balsamic vinegar, which provides a nice crisp and zing. These sprouts lacked depth and flavor profile. Not recommended. Entree: Sassy Steak Sandwich with Fries ($19). The steak was moist and juicy, but the odd sauce pairing included roasted red peppers, garlic aioli, chimichurri, and tomatoes. Sadly, the sauce over powers what could be a very good steak sandwich! It was good enough. Service: The entire place is "bar seating", and the service was pretty quick, helpful, and attentive. Ambiance: It's a Beer Brewery, so industrial looking interior. Clean, but don't expect romantic or quiet. Overall: I deducted 1 star for the bland Brussel Sprouts, and 1 star for the weird steak sandwich sauce. They are next to an Olive Garden, so if you don't want franchise food, Tipsy Steer may be worth a visit. read more

My first time at the Tipsy Steer but hoepfully not my last. We sat outside and it was lovely. Service was good and quick. I got the pretzels since I wasn't too hungry and they were pretty good. My friends got a variety of other dishes, including one of their big shakes, the orange creamsicle one. We all tried a bit and it was really good. We arrived and I immediately remembered this location was the old Joe's Crab Shack building. The sign said to seat yourself so we sat down and after a few minutes, we were greeted by a male server who was also the bartender. He didn't speak much, I tried to make friendly conversation but oh well. So my other half ordered the blanco shrimp with cauliflower crust, and I ordered the turkey burger. Prior to our food coming we decided to try the bang bang shrimp. The bang bang shrimp were a smash hit, they were seasoned to protection. When the meals we ordered came out they looked good, and they tasted even better. The ladies who delivered our food to our table were kind and courteous. They had some customers on the patio, there were TVs so you could watch your favorite sport, and the bathrooms were pretty clean. I will return to try other items on the menu that I feel would also be delicious. read more

Server claimed she was one of the brewery founders. She works for a living on a Wednesday evening. I asked if the IPA was more piney or citrusy, and I got an insightful reply. Refreshing! I came here with some friends and ended up getting the fake chick sandwich. I was really impressed with this meal, it had a lot of flavor and was actually an exciting vegetarian option. The greens were fresh, the cheese was melty, the chicken" was juicy, and the fries were crispy on the outside with a nice fluffy center - not much else I could have asked for. The service was good, kind and receptive to us on entrance and checked in enough to where we got everything we needed without being overwhelming. Decent food, decent service, decent location. Has a pretty decent patio. I've been here a few times and it is pretty reliable.

The restaurant itself is very cute, rustic, and spacious. It also boasts a wonderful patio and outdoor space. I like that it's attached to a brewery and you can see the brewing silos as soon as you walk in. They also have a dedicated space for making shakes that's a little hidden. They should totally make that more prominent! Our server was very distant and dismissive. They weren't chatty or helpful and only really checked in with us to take our order and bring the check. We had to flag them down several times for service. They were really slow with clearing the table too. Normally I wouldn't complain that much about service, but the restaurant wasn't that busy when we were there. For the food, overall it looked a lot better than it tasted... The WAM bread was fine, but it was hard to cut and just fell apart. The Gouda sauce it came with was fine, albeit a little runny and bland, but I really enjoyed the honey butter. It was basically frosting! The duck wontons were decent, but a little on the soggy side. Spice was light, but the raspberry dressing was super yummy. The Up In Smoke pizza came out with a really fun presentation/flourish and smelled VERY smoky, but it really fell flat. The toppings basically fell off the pizza, there was WAY too much onion on it, and I couldn't taste the brisket at all (even after putting a huge chunk of only brisket directly in my mouth with nothing else...). It was so flavorless I ended up loading it up with a ton of red pepper flakes. The jalapeño emulsion was really delicious but too sparse to make a difference. I wish they'd been heavy-handed with that instead of the onion.... It would've given the pizza so much flavor! Perhaps the biggest letdown of this entire experience was what I was looking forward to the most--the shakes. We ordered the Chocolate Dream Extreme and it was certainly not a dream shake. It looked really delicious, but it was like 80% whipped cream and the chocolate syrup overpowered everything else. I wish I could do half-stars, because this would definitely be a 3.5 for me. We came here before the Beer Dabbler for a pre-wristbanding event. The place was packed, however the staff handled it with grace. We had 12 people in our group, so we offered to be split whichever way we needed to in order to get a spot before the buses started leaving. The hostess said it would be about 30 minutes, but we got seated all together in about 10 on their heated patio! Our server was also fantastic - she was organized and to the point to make sure we got out the door within the hour. We really appreciated it! I'm not sure if this is feedback for the organizers of the beer dabbler or Tipsy Steer, but the pre-wristbanding should probably be moved to a different spot in the restaurant. It's right in the middle of the doorway where the host is, so it got crowded and disorganized very fast - which made it frustrating for customers and harder for the staff. It would be easier to put the check-in more in a corner or even right outside/in the vestibule to allow the line & crowds to congregate elsewhere. I felt that the food was just okay - I had come here before and gotten a sandwich and it was much better than the apps I got this day. I split 4 apps with some friends. The bang bang shrimp was the star of the show. It was perfectly crispy, and I loved the sweet spice of the sauce. The dipping sauce was also creamy and cooling, a perfect pairing. The sunnies & fries were good, nothing crazy special. I wish the sunnies were beer battered instead of just breaded. The chicken tenders were about as average as you can get - but what do you expect when you order chicken tenders. Nothing bad, just nothing outstanding. I was most disappointed in the onion rings. There was probably 5x the batter vs. each onion so it really felt like you were eating fried batter. I couldn't even really taste my onion - it made me feel pretty sick by the end. Plus, it only came with 4 onion rings for about $10. Overall, I'd be back on a non-event day to try an entree again, but I would probably skip the apps here. read more

It's not a nice, big, soft baked Bavarian pretzel they have oily and extremely over cooked, very hard pretzel sticks and sadly the gouda sauce was cool and sort of like gelatinous gravy. They should either serve a pretzel or change the menu to say pretzel sticks. They did bring out some slightly softer ones but they were still pretty bad. After glancing at a few reviews I knew we had to stop in! It was pretty busy around 7pm on a Friday night, which was a great indicator of the food! Our party of 3.5 (baby) were sat in the back, a little nosy due to large groups but not totally overwhelming. Overall I would give the actual establishment a 4/5. We started with seltzers, blood orange and a pear- both were really good and I would recommend them to anyone. We also started with the Oreo shake, honestly the shakes here are what sold us. It's basically a dessert on top of a dessert. The Oreo shake came with a chocolate Whoopie pie on top (but I'm not convinced it's homemade). I would return just to try another fun shake. For dinner we did the smoked pork pizza, a white shrimp Pizza, kids mac, and a burger. We had a hard time choosing what to eat because everything sounded amazing! However; a little disappointed in the food. The smoke pizza had a great presentation (dome filled with smoke) but I found the entire pizza had only one flavor- smoke. I couldn't take the difference between the toppings and was a little bummed. The white shrimp pizza and the burger were okay, but we wouldn't get them again. All and all we had a good meal, and we would return- but we would order almost nothing that we choose. However; it won't stop us from trying something else. read more

First impression; too many high top tables, cold metal seats and stools. A regular table that we did find had very short, very small seated metal chairs. Terribly uncomfortable, very cold. I ordered a bowl, had a question about the chicken, forgot to ask what "cauliflower seasoned rice" was. Found out it isn't rice at all, it's ground up cauliflower. When I asked after starting to eat it, server said "it's riced cauliflower". I verified not rice. Come on! My husband substituted onion rings for the fries for a $2 up charge. He got 2, TWO! onion rings. 80% batter. When we brought this issue to the attention our server (same time I was asking about the non-rice), she seemed like both of these issues were not new to her. Later admitted that she deals with both often. And she did give us a $9 refund (nor asked for), which was more than generous, we thought. We would have been happy with the $2. No need to go back, if nothing else, because of the cold and uncomfortable seating. read more

We sat on the covered deck area. That area is great because it's outdoors without being in direct sun. They also have plenty of seating in the sunny area outdoors. They have a brewery within the restaurant. The seltzer slushie was refreshing. It was evening on a Saturday so most of the people were 30+ but the place could be good to bring kids. The food was edible, but both meats on the sandwiches were dry. The duck bacon wontons were also a bit dry and didn't have a lot of filling. I took off a star because they have named their dessert milkshakes, "psycho" milkshakes. Psycho is a highly stigmatized word with negative connotation for people living with a mental health diagnosis. read more

The Blaine location has better food in my opinion maybe it was an off night for Tipsy Steer in Roseville. This was my first time at this establishment and upon arriving I saw lots of people outside. I was surprised by the size of the parking lot and walked into the establishment. The place was dimly lit making it a great meeting spot for a group of people or couple looking to just lay low and relax. The service we received was fantastic and better than some fine dining restaurants in Minnesota. We had nachos and well beers and the nachos were served in a nice heft portion and the beers were ice cold. The men's bathroom was clean and didn't have pee all over the floor like lots of the bars around. I will be making a second trip here soon to try out their food and I will post photos. read more

I enjoyed a small salad with a garlic dressing. It was a good size and colorful. That's all I had cause I was on my way to a Yelp event. Basil got their version of fish and chips called sunnies. Small lake fish. Two more and you'll feel like you got your money's worth. There were more bluegills served for an appetizer at Acqua recently. Fries were kind of soggy. The tarter was good. About 3PM was a good time, not busy and our server was very attentive. I'm looking forward to burgers and other meat in a couple of weeks. read more

The music and trivia had the perfect volume to allow for conversation. For sports fans ample tv's available. The service was excellent our server was amazing made recommendations and suggestions for drinks. As a non beer drinker at a brewery is difficult, but a couple of seltzer mix drinks did the trick. I have come here several times with a good-sized group (8-12) following walks. The Tipsy Steer is good about accommodating us, food is tasty, and service is surprisingly fast given how many of us they have to serve. I've had a burger--it's huge, even the most basic one--the Bang Bang Shrimp, and my favorite, the steak salad, which I seem to get most of the times I visit. I'm not a beer drinker, but they have lots of beverage options, including nonalcoholic drinks. It's a big, roomy place, even better in summer when the patio is open. read more

We visited the Tipsy Steer as a first stop before attending the Beer Dabbler at the MN State Fairgrounds later that day. They provided early check in and transportation/shuttles to and from the fairgrounds! Because of this is was VERY crowded, but it was a fun, high energy to be a part of! The staff handled the situation very well, taking orders and checking out bills very efficiently. The Shrimp Po' Boy was great, hot and fresh with large shrimp! It came with a side of fries, and we also ordered some Onion Rings to share. Be warned the $10 plate comes with 4 onion rings total - which is a bit ridiculous even though the rings themselves are massive.
