This place had a dive bar feel with darker lighting- pull tabs at the front and advertised events such as karaoke and meat raffles. I stopped for lunch during my work day and appreciated that they had lunch specials. I do wish they offered gluten free buns though. They have a large parking lot- the restaurant is dimly lit- nice for that night time going out feel but not at lunch when I was reading. The service was fast. My cheeseburger came out plain- I asked for tomatoes and lettuce which the server brought quickly. Tip: they offer a discount if you pay in cash. First time I have went here and it was not bad, it just didn't blow me away. It's basic breakfast food, they also have sandwiches, and a few dinner options. Nothing that will necessarily bring me back with some of the other options near by. The service was ok albeit a little slow it was not too bad. The bar looked decent and they seem to have some pretty good drink specials if that is your cup of tea. The ambiance is that of a local bar and grill. TVs playing and people talking. NEIGHBORHOOD BAR I have been to this establishment since it first opened decades ago. A few different names & owners. Even a major overhaul. However, the neighborhood bar feel is still there. Coworker friend and I needed to destress and reconnect after work. So we headed to Shore 96 for their happy hour. We squeezed in our food order before 3pm (lunch specials). It was hard to read their beer menu on the wall... don't use the blue chalk! It's not enough of a contrast against the black board. I asked if they had any cider beer (I didn't read any that were familiar to me like Angry Orchard or Stella's) and the young waiter didn't really know... so I ordered a pop instead. CF ordered the apps and was full before they were gone. I ordered the Ceasar wrap and it was made perfectly. The right amount of dressing to not be too dry or too soggy. A classic small pub type of vibe. I love the ambiance of everyone having a great time in their own space. Any restaurant with pull tabs gets an extra star from me! This is a bar and grill located in a strip mall, wouldn't even know it's here! It had the hole in the wall feeling. I came here around 6 on a Saturday night with my husband and kids. It was pretty busy, but seat yourself. We found a high top in the corner. Our server seemed very flustered and pretty busy. It while to get helped, but once we were it was pretty quick. I ordered the chicken strips and Mac and cheese for the kids, and I had the bacon and Cheese burger. It seemed like a fun place to hang out with friends rather than with the kids. They had a good selection of tap beer. It is close to where we live yet first time here. Again, I'd go here with buddies to hang out and have fun. read more

We were back in MN on a Friday night for a soccer tournament and that meant walleye for dinner. We checked the website and they were open until 10:00. We arrived at 8:45 and put our order in right away for four walleye dinners. Our waitress was great but came back and said the kitchen won't make our dinner as it was 1 min to nine. What? I asked to talk to the manager and she advised there wasn't one on this shift. So, the four of us left and had a great walleye dinner at the Green Mill. I would suggest that the owners either have a manager on duty as your chef isn't interested in growing your business or make our awesome waitress the one in charge as she gives a damn about your customers and your business. We were excited to try Shore 96 as it is pretty close to home and has a patio which is nice during this time of year. The waitress was very attentive and super nice and the patio area was great. The not so great thing was the food. We got the french dip which my mom was told was one of the best things on the menu and the grilled cheese and tomato soup lunch special as well as some onion rings. The french dip was fine but my mom wanted the bun toasted more and she just said it was pretty plain. The steak fries that came with it though were really good so if you do go here get some fries. My grilled cheese was made with a white cheese which I wasn't expecting. The menu didn't state what type of cheese it was and I didn't get asked. It wasn't a great grilled cheese or tomato soup. I really don't know how you mess up both. The onion rings were gross ours were way over cooked and very crunchy. The people behind us left almost all of theirs and maybe ate four our five. The inside of this establishment is a bar, I wouldn't come here and choose to sit inside it didn't look very inviting or like a restaurant. My friend and I wanted to try a new place and order take out. First the online ordering was turned off, so I had to call in my order. Not a big deal. The service when I arrived to pick up the food was very good. This is a smaller "hole in the wall joint." And it had a "small town bar feel" but in the suburbs. I got a chicken caesar wrap. Unfortunately this was not very good. The chicken was very dry, the lettuce was wilted and there was almost no dressing at all. It came with chips. We made this our choice for a company dinner & made reservations (Parties of six or more, only). We got our drinks while waiting on the remainder of the party to arrive. Their menu is not super-complicated, but it has many intriguing possibilities. I ordered the chili-cheese dog, one of our party ordered the stroganoff, another ordered the lobster grilled cheese (note- I must try this at home), while the last two both chose a surf & turf combo. Along with my dog, I got the tomato-basil soup and an order of deviled eggs. Let's talk about these eggs for a moment - they are perfectly creamy (no chunkage whatsoever) with a small dollop of caviar on top. OMG!!! I could go to town just on these eggs! The tomato soup had excellent flavor, but the emulsion was slightly broken. It did not affect the flavor, however, only the texture. The hot dog itself was almost as good as a Nolan Ryan brisket Sausage. I believe it is a local brand, and as a self-styled dog connoisseur, I consider it a top five dog. Their bun is a buttered-toasted loaf-style. Think classic lobster roll bread. Nice touch. If they need one improvement, it would be to use a larger portion of the chili. Reports on the other items: -The roasted broccoli was no different than steamed. -Although the Stroganoff looked dry, it was rated as excellent on flavor and distribution of meat & noodle. -The most decadent item of the night was probably the lobster grilled cheese. Chosen by a very picky eater - this got a clear five stars. -Both of our diners who ordered the surf & turf combo platters commented on the steaks being extremely small. Visually, I would guess they were 3-4 ounces. They were cooked well, and both dishes came with lobster-mash (another hit). Yes, it seems this place is a bit of an island of lobstrosities in the upper Midwest. Everything with lobster & caviar was over-the-top excellent. Drink prices are very reasonable. Speed of service was consistent with everything I witnessed in the Twin Cities - not rushed, yet attentive. The servers showed great teamwork, and our main server recognized me the following night as he was walking into a different restaurant while I was leaving. I wish I remembered his name, but suffice it to say, I believe he is easily recognized by his Tam o'Shanter. I mentioned this in another review - there is a completely different pace to service here. To eat I got a Bacon and Cheese Burger my friend ate the Fish Tacos. The food was ok. The drinks were a little strong. Had to get extra club soda to mix in but nothing wrong with a stiff drink. Our serve Felecia was amazing. She was the only server on and also had a giant party in the back. She seemed busy but still took the time to make sure all her tables were well taken care of. Have wanted to try this place since they opened. Had a few hours to kill so I decided to try lunch by myself here today. Atmosphere was ok, and the high top stool chairs are incredibly uncomfortable. However. Stacey the server was very sweet, engaged me in conversation at the bar and was able to make a mean mimosa (cuz it was close enough to noon ;) and helped me decide on a yummy meal choice. I chose the Italian wrap. It was a bit greasy but that's what happens when you heat up Italian meats. I probably would have liked it cold better but it was still good. We checked out Shore 96 on a Friday just shy of 8pm. The place was busy and full of energy, even so we were seated right away. Based on recommendations we tried the Lobster Red Mash - $10. This dish was mashed little red potatoes, with a butter sauce topping, and mounded with lobster meat. The flavors were very well paired in this appetizer - yum! I ordered the Surf N Turf Dog with steak fries - $9. The dog was Peterson Limousine Beef, topped with marinated shrimp, tarragon tartar, served on what seemed like a griddled milk bread bun. This was the selection of the night. A very good dog and super tasty. I will come to Shore 96 again for this dog! The steak fries were made well and rounded out the dog meal. My husband ordered the fish dinner meal. It was your typical fried fish dinner but the tartar sauce was flavorful and the seafood chowder was good with a hint of sweetness from dill. read more

I witnessed BLATANT RACISM in my community (we WERE regular customers since it was Katie's, my husband and I met there) when 4 men with black skin arrived and not long after, the Sheriff arrived. Since we were outside, they spoke to us first, asking: "are there kids inside?" We saw no kids, but, it's a restaurant so the question was odd. Long story short: I told the boys what was happening and asked them to leave while apologizing for my community (one said: "I live in Ramsey County and came for a beer and a burger."). When I confronted the staff, our server told us he was asked to serve them because "no one else felt comfortable." Yeah. I spoke to "regulars" who reported they were nice, ordered food, and didn't know why law enforcement was called. Law enforcement was called because "they fit a description." The description was "black." The bartender yelled at me and accused me of saying things I didn't say (but should have) after pretending to have no idea why the Sheriff was there or who called them (I confronted her). Yet, she refused to serve them. We've been tipping her WAY TOO WELL (as well as the rest of the staff) and will NEVER return. Not in my community. I will not support a place where the only person who was concerned that there was unfair treatment was myself and my server. When I questioned the behavior I was met with hostility (in person at the restaurant and via text from the other bartender who claimed this wasn't my business and I didn't have the facts). What I know, is I watched racism go down and I was horrified. Breakfast is the only decent food and the bartenders are rude which appears to be fine with the management. And when injustice is happening right in front of me, it IS MY BUSINESS! Please, don't support racism. If you spend money here, you're supporting racism. I was a witness to it yesterday. There are too many great hangouts that believe "the customer is right" and don't refuse service to anyone (provided you're wearing clothes). There is no reason to go here. read more

A server arrived not too much later and she was friendly and helpful. Food Ordered: Turkey Hoagie BYOB Burgers with fries, onion rings or chips. The onion rings were the nice beer battered ones. The fries were the nice steak fries and the chips were the good kettle chips. Chicken Fingers and Fries The menu is decent consisting of burgers, sandwiches, larger entrees, soups, salads etc. The atmosphere has more of a bar feel for locals. I was pleasantly surprised by the food at Shore 96. I was pretty skeptical when I first drove up and parked. Shore 96 is in a crappy little strip mall on Highway 96. The front is a little nondescript. Then when I got inside, it was really small and dark. It looked like they were cleaning and there were some dish rags here & there. And there were several goofy looking older regulars sitting at the bar. My daughter would have called them "cringey". They all stared at us when we came in. But the bartender, our server, was great. And when the food came out, it was excellent. I particularly liked the deviled eggs with caviar on top. The scallops were good too. I guess you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. This was our first visit to Shore 96. I had been to its predecessor, Meister's, a couple of times. I heard some good things about Shore 96-so we have it a go. The ambiance wasn't much improved from Meister's--but the food was a huge improvement! My husband and I shared a burger and some wings - and had a couple drinks. The food was solid. Not exceptional, but good enough that I will return for more. Our burger was perfectly cooked, the bun was fresh. The wings were good but not amazing. Good bar food, very good service. Highly recommend the bang bang shrimp tacos (excellent!) and get an order of mac'n cheese bites. Also had the shrimp po-boy, was tasty but a bit light on shrimp and heavy on bread. Big portions, good value for the price and definately would return. I went here for lunch today with my brothers. The service was good, although I wasn't happy that we were given only one of the large menu to share. It's hard enough going to a new restaurant and not being able to study the menu, when the waitress returned we requested menus for each of us. Other than that the service was friendly and attentive. My one brother got the turkey hoagie, he loved it, said it was delicious. My other brother got the turkey too, but as a wrap and was equally impressed. I got the beef stroganoff, it was very tasty. Stopped in for lunch this week. We had the bleu cheese burger with bacon jam. Was cooked to perfection. Server said they all come medium, but we requested a little less done and it was done just right. Burgers were juicy and flavorful bacon jam was tasty. Onion rings were basic, but hot and actually seasoned well as were the steak fries. Service was good, flavors on point, and the beer was cold! We are heading back tonight! BIG inconsistency in my two visits in one month! First time great hotdog with mushrooms and other stuff that was fresh and not usually found on a dog around here! Second time? Needed a steak knife to saw my way through the hotdog I could barely gnash into something I could swallow! I have never had a hotdog that tough in my 75 year life! And, to add insult to injury, NONE of the nice stuff that was on the first one! I guess I'll give the place a third tie-breaker chance to redeem themselves. First time I've ever walked out of a restaurant...unfed. Waited an hour and 45 minutes for our order. When food finally arrived half of the order was delivered. When mentioned the incredibly long wait was informed, by owner, that I have no right to complain as restaurant has only been open a week or so. At that point I realized that ownership trumps 'customership' and left. Wish I could rate less than one star. The one star here is needed for the review. I want to start out by saying that our waitress gave great service. The fish tacos were insanely terrible!!! It looked and tasted like microwaved frozen fish fingers. They threw it on an oversized tortilla with a bed of corn/onion mix with tartar sauce.... and it still tastes bland as heck. What you serve is not something I'd call a fish taco, I think you should take some time and do a little research on a better recipe. Lunch special is 3/$8,and regular is 3/9, with that little of a discount- I expected it be good. I hope they see this post and up their fish taco recipe. They didn't even have some sort of salsa or spicy sauce to pair with the tacos; they offered sriracha or Tabasco, i chose sriracha only because I grew up with it. Sorry but the price you charge for the "tacos" are ridiculous. This review is meant for the fish tacos only. I don't want this to take away anyone's decision on trying this place out. My coworkers had the burger lunch special. That looked good and they said it was pretty good.
