The Juicy Lucy from Francis Burger Joint is the BEST burger I've ever had! Hands down, it's even better than the ones I've had when I used to eat meat. When I go to new cities, I typically seek out food that is specific to the region and thus a little more interesting to me. You can get a burger anywhere, and a cheese filled patty, aka a "Juicy Lucy", didn't sound like something I needed to try. But my husband kept talking about it and really seemed bent on having one so we decided to come here to try it out. We showed up during their happy hour, from 4-5pm, and they had $5 draft beers. Score! It's a cute place with ample seating, nice natural light from the large windows, and a relaxed atmosphere. I ordered the Juicy Lucy, a burger patty stuffed with cheese and topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and pub sauce. I chose the Impossible patty version, but you can also get it with their house made black bean burger. Hubby chose the Garlic Girl, a black bean cheeseburger topped with bacon (also made in-house), berbere aioli, lettuce, and pickled onion. Each burger came with fries. Both burgers were spectacular and delicious in their own way. The bacon on hubby's burger was incredible, and his burger was rich and satisfying. By my Juicy Lucy, oh my... Every bite was a flavor explosion and intensely delicious without being a gut bomb shockingly. To top it off, the fries were super crispy and just perfect. WOW is all I can say. Note that while the prices may seem a little higher than what you might expect, Francis Burger is a no tipping establishment, as stated on their menu. Delicious vegan burgers, I usually just get the standard beyond beef ($15) with bacon ($3), hubby gets juicy Lucy ($18) and kiddo gets their kids burger ($8). All come with fries and I love their sour cherry soda. It's never crazy busy and you can order with their waitstaff or with the QR code. Fries are perfectly seasoned and they pay their waitstaff a livable wage so prices reflect the total cost and no need to tip! Maybe that's why all the waitstaff seem so friendly. I drove by Francis a few times and always wanted to try it. Personal issue- parking in this area can be a bit rough. I found looking for parking in the neighborhood (closer to Jackson Square Park) and walking 1-2 short blocks over is easier than trying to find parking on busy Central. The restaurant is cute, kind of a retro vibe to it. We got the honor to be served by Brendan who is the co-owner/founder. He was really nice and chatted with us about everything from drinks recommendations, the idea behind everything being vegan including the spirits & mixers they use at the bar, the other location on East Lake Street and more. They started as a food truck and expanded to two brick and mortar's. Seemed very passionate & I love that! My cousin & I ordered the same thing - Francis burger + cheese, comes with fries. I ordered via QR code and my cousin ordered via waiter as they offered actual menus by request. When we were done eating he mentioned something about trying some of the vegan options and I told him the whole menu as plant based and he was surprised because it tasted like an actual burger. We got a giftcard for Christmas so dined here recently again and "splurged" on a Lucy, shake, THC drink and some extra bacon. Always a good time. This is the second Juicy Lucy I've had here, the first one was on opening day and it was OK, this one was much better (greasier and slightly hotter). It doesn't burn your mouth like a normal Lucy which I guess is a good thing. I love their changing shake flavors and got the chai this time, it tasted like the Holidays! Our plant based tour of Minneapolis continues. Wow this place is amazing. If you didn't know it was a plant based burger joint you'd swear you were eating meat. They do such an amazing job with the ingredients and the variety that you'll be blown away. We did the SPICY FRIED BRUSSELS SPROUTS as an app and they were so good. Loved the mustard sauce and the plant based bacon. I did the MN SPICY FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH and was happy to see that I could have it grilled versus deep fried. A friend has suggested this place and I was super excited to try. I ordered for pickup in advance, and they were very prompt and communicative! The fries were beyond amazing, I could have eaten an entire additional plate of them. They had gluten free buns, and I was quite happy with it! I've been wanting to visit this spot for the LONGEST time and finally had the chance to. An ALL vegan restaurant (YAY) and they did not disappoint, a classic burger spot with shakes and these drinks make it feel classy. I got a regular cheeseburger and the sauce was AMAZING (kinda reminds me of mac sauce from what I can remember). Plenty of fries with the burgers. The flavors of both "meat" patties were great. And impossible burger was the closest I've ever had to a beef patty, and tasted better than other impossible burgers I've had. They said it's because they cook it on a flattop grill. The bean burger tasted great though the texture was a little soft and fell apart too much, even on the soft brioche bun. As much as I liked the flavor, I'll stick with the impossible burger next time (or try the chicken). Tip: get a side of the berbere aioli for your burger and also to dip the fries into. read more

This place has no parking lot, but it was pretty easy to find street parking right outside. Me a two friends came here on a busy Saturday night With no reservation. Out of all the vegan burgers I've tried, Francis is the best, especially their namesake, the Francis Burger. I absolutely love the Francis sauce and everything they have tastes like the real deal, even the bacon! The texture of the meat and cheese is also super believable, although if you are not a fan of meat tasting nonmeat products, they also have black bean patties. The french fries are super fresh and crispy, almost like McDonalds but better, Brussel sprouts were super flavorful and I haven't tried the "chicken" but need to come back to do so. Standard disclaimer - I'm a meat eater! I have been trying a variety of plant based alternatives lately though, and this was great! I ordered the Francis burger with added 'bacon' because I was really curious about it. The bacon was excellent and even was kind of 'fatty' and 'stringy' like real bacon - wild! I would love to see some thing like a BLT on the menu. I didn't do the cheese but my dinner mates were all impressed with how well it melted for being vegan. My one small complaint would be that I'd like a thicker burger. I believe these are just a 1/4lb impossible patty (which I had never had before). They do offer the option to add a patty but it was over my price threshold (ha). Fries were yummy too but I wonder if you could substitute them for a different side? I popped in looking for a Bloody Mary and an easy brunch to go and had heard about Francis but had never been. I live nearby but would absolutely return, even if I didn't. The service was over-the-top genuine hospitality; I truly felt like a guest in someone's space. I was only there for about 30 mins to have my drink and leave, but even in that short period of time, I witnessed the (presumably owner? Manager?) genuinely greet each guest to the point where I thought that he either a) knows everyone, or b) has made that many genuine connections with his guests...that's how friendly and hospitable he was. The bartender was equally friendly and kind. My Bloody Mary was smoky and savory and I ordered the breakfast burger to go, which was great.
