    Turkey and Dill Havarti Sandwich
    Joan R.

I ordered a sandwich from here on door dash while I was in town for work. It was pretty tasty but was a lot of bread and sandwich itself (turkey w havarti dill) was a bit dry. Still tasty and I would order again. Would love to come back and try more options as I love to support plant based restaurants and I have heard such good things about this one.

Creative and different. All plant based "meats" concept was confusing. I had the Italian sausage flavored bratwurst which was excellent. Especially with more fried onions than I knew what to do with. The "butcher shop" required assistance and staff was happy and helpful.

PLEASE NOTE: This was for nationwide shipping. I ordered a whole bunch of different things from The Herbivorous Butcher, including: 1. Turkey slices (8oz), $17 2. Pastrami (8oz), $17 (^ both of these had about 12 slices, and to be honest, tasted a lot like similar deli slice options from Tofurky, Lightlife, Yves, or Field Roast - all of which are *much* cheaper.) 3. Pepperoni (8oz), $15 (^ the best of what I purchased; it was nice to have a thicker pepperoni option for our vegan charcuterie board that wasn't super thinly slices or fig salami!) 4. Dill Havarti (8oz), $20 5. Brie (10oz), $25 (^ both of these were misses for us; the dill havarti was really soft and had the barest suggestion of dill. It melted well, but it hardened back up quite quickly in our paninis. The brie wasn't anything like what we were expecting: it was completely flavorless and felt/tasted like a brick of extra firm tofu). Some important notes about ordering online: 1) You *must* buy at least five things for shipping. 2) Orders ship on Mondays, Tuesday, and Wednesdays through UPS. 3) Products are good for about two weeks. I appreciate they ship nationally, and I would definitely check them out in person if I was ever in the area (I'd like to try their Italian Cold Cut sandwich or Hot Breakfast sandwich). But at this time I wouldn't reorder them for delivery. However, I think if you're in a vegan-barren part of the world (as in, there aren't many natural, organic grocers in your area), you should for sure check them out yourself!

    The Hot Panini was huge!

I have had some delicious items from this place. My biggest grievances are 1) that there are no samples offered (even way before the pandemic). If you want to "try" something you must place a whole order, which sucks because if you don't like it, you end up throwing it away. Now you're wasting food and money. Shame on them for that. 2) no modifications on their sandwiches. Almost all of their sandwich specials come with cheese, which I don't eat (Yes, I know it's vegan. No, I still don't eat it.) 3) they sneak cheese into (almost) everything. I tried the potato salad and had to throw it away. Havarti cheese was in it. WHYYYY????? I still support this place though. I love the vegan butcher concept. I love their minimart inside with vegan goodies that you can't find just anywhere. I hope they continue to thrive and improve.

Friendly service and excellent all vegan options! I'd been dying to come here for years. It did not disappoint.

This is the only company I know that offers DELICIOUS meat-free meat AND cheese-free cheese. In January 2020, we started phasing out animal protein and dairy from our diet. We did it for a variety of health reasons and taste preference. When covid hit, we had even more reasons to back away from animal protein. We've never eaten so well! Between our homemade fresh breads, homegrown veggies and perfect rice-cooker grains, food here is delicious. We wanted dairy-free cheese but found supermarket offerings to be tasteless and plastic. So we took a chance and ordered a pack of Herbivorous Butcher pepperjack cheese from an online vegetarian food company. WOW! The cheese had flavor and easily melted - it tasted great! So we went to the Herbivorous Butcher site and quickly ordered brie, garlic pepper havarti and more pepper jack cheese. We love that their cheese and meats are cholesterol-free. Welcome back cheese! We missed you! Soon after we tried their Italian sausage. We weren't dazzled by the supermarket brands and figured if Herbivorous figured out how to make great cheese, maybe they were more than a one hit wonder. After my first bite of their Italian sausage, I was drawn back to my childhood and realized they are the REAL DEAL. This brother and sister team figured out how to make meat-free meat and cheese-free cheese taste delicious. So now I have two Porterhouse steaks in the fridge - my husband actually ordered more cheese and the steaks as we were tasting the sausage. Grilling season is here and we plan on continuing to eat great food. We'll eat the steaks with homegrown purple sweet potatoes and San Marzano tomatoes. After that, we'll raid the garden's sweet peppers and onions and serve them with more of the Italian sausage. I only wish we lived nearby their store so we could pick up one of their delicious-sounding deli sandwiches or visit their soon-to-open Herbie Butcher's Fried Chicken restaurant. Hey, maybe there'll be a road trip in our future...just like finding tasty dairy-free cheeses and meaty animal-free proteins, you never know what being willing to be willing can get ya!

    Italian Cold Cut Sandwich

incredible quality and amazing flavors! my boyfriend and i got this for the first time yesterday and what a treat it was! i got the Italian Cold Cut Sandwich and it was amazing, i loved the texture of the meat and the bread was just right. the cheese was also so soft and so delicious! i highly recommend it, and actually the overall cost for two people to eat was decent! under $40! give it a try, if you're vegan or not. friendly staff and a nice atmosphere, too.

This is a place I've only seen on the internet and in my dreams. I got the cold cut sandwhich and my husband got the corned beef. The cold cut was amaaazing, the corned beef seemed kinda dry? But was also good. Two sandwhiches and a tote bag for $50. Only downfall was there was no restroom to use, and the closest one was two blocks across the street at a gas station. I need to check if they ship! I want to try everything

8 oz bacon on their website

Pretentious for no reason. I ordered pick up on door dash, with no service fees. pricing on door dash, their own website and in store is all different! Different pricing, and 6.49 for a small canned kombucha is wild. It's 4 dollars at the coffee shop and 5 on their website. Bad policy and bad customer service. They don't care about customers when you try to rip off ppl by giving different prices.

    Prices and Promotional Prices!

I would give this place a 0 if I could for their customer service. The cashier made a mistake and was supposed to provide a $1 discount for buying 2 bags of Herbie Butcher's Fried Chicken; in their promotion there was no mention that someone could not mix or match at all. I even asked the cashier if the price of the 2 bags of the Herbie Butcher's Fried Chicken would be $22.99 and they informed me that it would be, however, after I obtained the receipt from the purchase, I was not able to view the total, until after the purchase was made. I complained to another representative who was on his computer. One important point to mention that there was no other customer in the store and I was told I had to wait 10 minutes for a sandwich, an additional product that I purchased. The representative, who I disturbed from being on his computer, smiled and smirked with joy at me and said that I had to buy 2 of the same kind of Herbie Butcher's Fried Chicken and said to me that next time I would know better. This "Fake Meat" Shop is extremely overpriced compared to many of their competitors and the quantities have got smaller and smaller over time, they used to have the product out and now it is all shrink wrapped or already packaged. I have been a loyal customer, since this place was open, but if The Herbivorous Butcher is not willing to honor their own promotion and the Fake Meat industry is losing market share, just look at what happened to the Beyond Meat brand, one food for thought for this particular company,The Herbivorous Butcher, if people were really into this brand wouldn't they have multiple storefronts by now? Most people I talk to never heard of this brand, I guess there must be a reason. I will never spend another dollar with this brand and I hope my story at least warns you of the type of experience you may encounter if you go or eat any of their "fake meat" products.

    Italian Cold Cut Sandwich

I came to Minneapolis and searched the best eats and this place showed up. I have to say though, all the excitement left when I took my first bite from the Korean style vegan "jerky" and Italian cold cut sandwich. I understand it's vegan food and I love vegan food but it was a total disappointment. In the sandwich, the bread was dry, way too glutinous with an awful crumb, the vegan deli meat was seasoned poorly and I find it quite astonishing that the flavors were not complimentary. The jerky on the other hand was average, I've had my fair share of vegan jerky and there's way better out there with a delectable flavor profile for a lower price point. If you go there, you'll enjoy the atmosphere and cool snack assortment but I'd skip the food.

Love this place! It's so nice to find a place to find vegan food in the twin cities. I love that they also carry other vegan snacks. I come here to get a hot sandwich a lot and it's worth the wait! They always explain everything really well so I feel confident in the food I'm eating. As a vegetarian, it's really nice to know all the food is trustworthy and tastes great.

Ribeye Steak , not much cheese or sauce

So this shop was the thing I was most excited about when visiting Minneapolis. Unfortunately, they're only doing online pick up right now and the meats are in 12oz packs that are around $10-15 each. I was hoping to get a little of everything to try, but they don't have any kind of sampler pack you can buy. I did order a rib eye steak sub, but was kinda disappointed on the lack of cheese and sauce. My friend got some kind of breakfast sandwich which i had a bite of and liked better. If they came out with a sampling pack I'd be thrilled. For now I'm a bit disappointed as i expected it to be like a butcher shop where you could go by weight

Hot mapo tofu special ($11). Spicy, authentic and hearty. Great with vegan seitan. Really awesome.
