Made an impromptu visit to The Wedge last night, about 45 minutes before closing. Surprisingly still pretty lively....shoppers hustling around at that hour. I'm a lookerrrr, so I loved taking my time to really look around. The store is bright, clean, and stocked. Good variety: groceries, deli and bakery items, personal care products, and even a small jewelry section tucked in. Prices felt fair....nothing that gave me sticker shock. Didn't have much interaction with staff aside from a quick (and quiet) checkout, but everyone seemed friendly from a distance. Parking was fine, which is always a bonus. I'm not from the Minneapolis area, so I wouldn't make a special trip just to come here, but if I'm nearby and need something, I'd happily stop in again. read more

I was recently in the area and I wanted to check out this Co-op grocery store to see what it had to offer and see how it fared to the Mississippi Market that I'm accustomed to. I was a fan of their buffet area where you can make your own plate and their smoothie selection was really great too. The dining area is small but it's cozy at the same time. Great selection of grocery store items and hard to find items as well. Staff here is very personable but Lines can be very long too. After a few days of being laid up sick with a stomach bug it was time to make myself known. I was going to the farmers market but that was just way too much peopling for me. I was in the area so I hoped that the Wedge co-op would have smoothies, and they did! I purchased a breakfast fuel smoothie that ended up being a little too nut buttery for me. This is my fault, remember I've been sick so I wasn't reading properly! The smoothie maker happily gave me some pineapple juice to add which helped. He declined my offer of payment for said juice. The real winner is the two bites of macaroni and cheese and macaroni and mushrooms from the hot bar that my stomach handled. It wasn't too salty or too greasy. Once I have my appetite back, I'll def come back for full portions! They have a nice quiet seating area that's always been clean when I visit. Parking is parking at the wedge. It's never as bad as anticipated. read more

This is a very popular co-op in "the Wedge" neighborhood. They have a nice prepared food section and samples. (I went before the pandemic). Staff was friendly. You can try local cheeses. Like so many in our neighborhood I view the Wedge as more than a grocery store. In addition to great meats, seafood, meat alternatives, vegetables and fruits. It has lots of other interesting, fun and useful stuff for your home and table. Well organized. Super pleasant and helpful staff and the coop is supportive of the community and a positive business model for suppliers and farmers. I love how they sell vegetable, herb and flower plants in the summer. So convenient to pick them up on your bike for your urban balcony. They also have bins of dried goods so you can buy the amounts you need as well as natural health and beauty products. It's a one stop shop for folks who are concerned about the planet and their personal or families healthy lifestyle. And a nice little snack cafe perfect for enjoying a coffee and sketching their wonderfully diverse and interesting customers. read more

I'm a fan of grocery co-ops normally. I'm a member of one back home. I was visiting the Twin Cities, and staying right next to this place, so I thought it might be a good place to duck in and get some food to eat in my room while I stayed in the area. Co-ops are usually little hippie-friendly joints that feel welcoming and friendly, this one felt a lot more like a pretentious hipster place impersonating a hippie co-op. The staff were pretentious and condescending (the person at the checkout took a serious attitude with me when he found out I hadn't brought my own grocery bags), the prices were exorbitant (you know it's bad when shopping at Whole Foods would be clearly a LOT cheaper for the same things), and the selection was seriously limited. I won't be back. It's better just to go to Whole Foods if I want organic and natural foods, and for a member-owner of another co-op elsewhere I hope you understand how hard it is for me to write that. read more

Service is terrible with the new woke employee set of present-day Minneapolis. Even 10-20 years ago, the employees were far more productive and professional. I had to ask for a wet rag to wipe down a table since all the tables in the eating area were dirty. The three employees behind the counter were standing around, talking. They gave me the rag to wipe down the counters, and these woke employees are getting paid at least $16 an hour to do nothing. In the produce section, not one employee was available. I had to go to the "back room" where three employees were standing around talking. At the register, most of the employees were sitting on stools. Oh, life at work is so difficult now, isn't it, that you need to sit down to work, and most of the employees are under 30. It's going to be a rough ride until you reach the sweet age of semi-retirement as I, but I've worked since I was 16, and we worked in those days. We didn't get to sit down when we were 30 and younger, unless we had desk jobs, too. But, those desk jobs we obtained through education and acquired skills, not those solely needed to work at a grocery store. These cashiers are very lazy. They don't bag the groceries, either, just standing around. I asked the woke kid at the service counter why they don't bag groceries, and he told me "They need to watch the till." WATCH THE TILL? After they complete the sale, and most people use cards, they close the drawer and the till should be locked, unless these woke employees are too lazy to enter their number each and every time when a new customer approaches. I bet that is the reason why they need to "watch the till." They are just too lazy or perhaps stupid, to remember how to open the register when the next customer arrives. If The Wedge has problems with theft, the employees brought it on themselves with their woke, ultra-liberal, social democrat policies, where they refuse to call out the persons stealing, all in the name of so-called social justice and DEI BS. I'll take my future business to Lunds in my downtown neighborhood, avoid the panhandlers which the Wedge encourages outside it's doors, and the other riffraff on the street, particularly if a person is waiting for a bus. Kowalski's is much better, too, since its employees don't sit down, are not morbidly obese, and will not tolerate panhandling on site. read more

While it's a great grocery store (if a little pricey) the best part to me is the pastry/coffee bar! It's so nice to walk over and get a donut or croissant on a sunday morning, and they're always so helpful. It's also nice to get that member discount. read more

"Credit, Check Card or EBT" : These are the choices on the credit card machine at The Wedge. Making conversation, I raise an eyebrow and say to the ernest fellow, in a mainly hemp based outfit at the checkout area: "Ummm. EBT?" ( The Wedge is cool but is definitely on the expensive end of things.) He replies, with flaring nostrils, "Of course, Why Not?" I say in response ( , quickly and meekly so as to avoid upsetting him or harshing whatever buzz he has at that moment and also to hopefully avoid any kind of Greta Thunberg type of haraunging , ) "oh, nevermind... it is just that there is a Aldis up the road...". The food and selection are pretty good here. Check out the bakery section and the bulk dried item section. The mushroom selection is wonderful. read more

As an owner, I cannot be more proud of my local co-op. As a local, I love the support for the farmers, crafters and every food artisan out there. The health and beauty products are unrivaled (PRO TIP: 10% off vitamins and health care items on the first Wednesday of the month). The grab-n-go items are so yummy AND convenient, offering all sorts of ideas and new food items to try. The butcher counter is a favorite stop for brisket with a BIG FAT CAP or for fresh fish. The place feels so huge post-renovation. I'm just so proud of my co-op! read more

The Wedge has been around for a long, long time. I did prefer the older version of it, when there was an awesome hot bar/deli section. They offered more of a selection of ready-to-eat meals, freshly prepared foods, smoothies, dinners, etc. The new layout is OK, and now they offer a hot bar, which I have not yet sampled. They still offer pre-wrapped and packaged items in their cold case (sandwiches, salads, snacks, etc.), which I usually choose from if I want something quick. The store is always clean, and the staff are friendly and diverse and usually helpful. I really mostly enjoy their fresh produce selection, their bulk item offerings are hard to beat, and I like browsing their health and beauty section to see what new and interesting items might be available. They are pricey, as most co-ops usually are, but they do offer their bi-monthly coupon book, and a new coupon system for owners which they offer four times a year or so (I believe). Overall, I will continue to shop here as I have over the years, though, honestly, it has no longer become my number one, go-to healthy food store. This has been my first experience at this store. My family have told me about it & I love everything about this place. I love that their produce are locally grown and are fresh. From what I have gathered, the things available in the store are generally more chemically free with fewer to none but there are more pure ingredients. From my experiences, the staffs were very helpful and friendly and seem to genuinely enjoy their work. The Wedge is also big on sustainability with their strong support (and financial discounts to you!) for bringing your own containers/ packages, their use of eco-friendly trays at the deli vs Styrofoam trays, the convenient Terra Cycle bins (for hard to recycle items such as multi-layered bags and tooth paste tubes), and more! Shop local, shop organic, reduce packaging waste and live well at the Wedge! I highly recommend people to check this place out & I have been informed they have membership opportunities. At the Deli, they also have delicious food options. Vegan and vegetarian can definitely dine here with ease. read more

I used to frequent The Wedge when I lived there and thought it to be a nice neighborhood co-op. I've just learned that a friend's father was accused of theft on no grounds which appeared to be the result of a misunderstanding. But what makes this appalling is the color of his skin dictated the accusatory employee's hasty reaction to suspect theft and to permanently prohibit him from shopping there. The whole world is watching. We all know this would not have happened had my friend's father been white or if it had been another non-Black customer. You are a co-op. You exist to serve the community together. You need to do better than this. I will not be supporting The Wedge if I move back to Minneapolis unless true inclusive community standards are upheld. read more

The Wedge is my local coop as I live in Loring Park and I absolutely love everything this store has to offer. Quite a few months ago I sensed being followed around the store, workers peering around corners as to see what I am taking off of the shelves. I brushed it off but became more and more aware of this consistently happening every time I shopped in the store. Someone looking at what I put in my basket and that same someone shockingly at the checkout when I was leaving. I decided that perhaps me actually joining the coop would put an end to this. I would pay my $80 up front, perhaps they would google my LinkedIn profile and maybe second guess that I would need to steal produce and food from the coop. This changed absolutely nothing! The last time I visited was over a month ago. I am still beside myself. I hope this review sparks some diversity training and puts an end to racial profiling in our community coop. read more

I have been shopping at the Wedge for many years, and overall, I enjoy shopping here. Once I'm in the store, that is! The Wedge recently underwent a major renovation inside. I've given myself some time to get used to it (it's been a year, maybe two?) and I still just don't like it. The layout is not good. Today, for the first time, I needed to use the restroom while in the store. Well, they weren't where they used to be, at the front. That's fine. I saw a sign for them. I stood directly under the sign and still didn't see them. Ugh. Well, they were in the only possible direction from there, but it looked like a stock room to me. So, that's one example. Also, I'm pretty sure that they have less product than they used to. They may have expanded their frozen selections, and maybe gift-type items? I'm not sure, but I haven't been able to find some of the things I used to buy there, and the selection of them seems to be smaller. I'm extremely disappointed that they did not use the money to do something about the parking lot. The lot is absolutely atrocious, it's always full, it's very uneven, and now apparently they don't plow. It's a busy intersection and difficult to get into the lot safely. I hope they are planning to do something about the lot next! That would be the best improvement that they could make. I will continue shopping at the Wedge, but I will admit that I avoid it since I do need to park there. read more

By far the best place to get groceries in the area. Everything is fresh and in season. You might not find fruit, herbs, or vegetables that are out of season but all the other things in stock are of such quality it doesn't defer me from shopping here. Even though I've gone here for years it too me a while to notice the deli. All of the food made here is SO GOOD! The salads and sandwiches can be healthy and are made with fresh, organic, quality ingredients. A few of my favorites are the root power juice (get ice or it comes doom temp), breakfast taco, any of the sandwiches including the byo sandwich option, wedge bowl, Mayan grain bowl, and the espresso bomb which is espresso and frozen coconut soft serve. read more

The Wedge is a great place to find hidden gem brands and vegan options for ready-made deli foods. A couple of things hold my review back from 4-5 stars: 1) Prices. A lot of items are overpriced but not everything. You definitely have to be looking for deals in order to shop there regularly. 2) Getting in and out. Now this is not really the Wedge's fault. Several large condos have gone up in the immediate vicinity which has made parking impossible in the area. read more

The Wedge is my favorite neighborhood grocery store. If I had more money, I would do all of my shopping here. Still, I never spend a fortune when I come in for organic sustenance... (OK, maybe a couple times I spent a fortune). For someone like me (who buys mostly organic on a regular basis... as Julie S. says, "real ingredients"), I love the quality and the selection at The Wedge. It's a "real" alternative to Trader Joe's, which for all it's assets, is still a big fat chain store. For someone who doesn't buy organic normally or think about local food when they are shopping, this is a good place to get an introduction! For made-to-order food, the sandwiches and burritos from their deli are healthier substitutes to those at less organic restaurants--and at a comparable price. I had my first chicken burrito yesterday... at least as big as Chipotle's and come with fruit or chips. The chicken was a bit bland, but I had the carnitas burrito once and thought it was excellent. The pesto melt sandwich is yummy too. I love the fresh bread! I also have a sweet spot for the desserts, especially the fruit tart and the flourless chocolate torte. Deals: Stay away from the cold deli case (quite expensive). Check the customer service counter for sales and coupons. Shop the marked sales at the beginning of the month--they have amazing deals that run for the rest of the month for members and non-members. Become a member. read more

Visiting from out of town: good selection, awful staff. Was waiting in the little foyer--totally separate from the actual store with my support dog animal, who is small and extremely well behaved. I would never bring a crazed pup even close to a store. IT WAS RAINING. Dude from the store came out and said that we had to leave. When I said sorry, but it's raining, we're waiting for a friend, he rolled his eyes and pointed to the door. Doesn't seem like that big of a deal, but when someone kicks you out into the rain after you dropped lots of $$$, and doesn't even say it in a polite way, I can't get down. Awww snap, how could someone not love The Wedge? This place has essentially defined the neighborhood around it. Any apartment listing would say "You should live here because Wedge, X, Y, Z. I'm not trying to be cheesy, but seriously, most people that go here love this place. At The Wedge, customers can get a great variety of fresh and tasty produce. Aside from the produce, I love the option to buy everything from peanut butter to whole grain rice in bulk, and alternative and organic goods for just about everything. The vitamin, cosmetic, tea, and health section is awesome. The seafood there is solid, especially the shrimps and fishes. The Wild Copper River Salmon that they have -when is season- is so bomb. One of the best things about the Wedge is the juice, smoothie, and ice cream bar. Honestly, try the vanilla coconut soft-serve. Holy cow, it's decadent and smooth. This is something that makes The Wedge so unique. It's often used in a variety of drinks too! Try the Chai's the Limit to get mind-blown. *Note: shout out to my homie Arturo, who's a notable dancer in the Twin Cities that works there. He's probably nicest guy ever and he rocks the "El Toro" hat. The other staff members there are great too! I would rank this place five stars if it wasn't for the deli with the various soups, sandwiches, sushi, and sides. I've tried all of them, and I really don't like any of them. The soups lack flavor, the sandwiches are stale, the sushi got me incredibly sick one time, and the sides (like the potato sald) are not that great. If customers pay a lot of money for these deli goods at the Wedge, they should at least taste good. Overall though, I can't really complain too much and I welcome paying the premium to eat great food. I love this place and I think a more accurate rating would be 4.5 stars. Wow!!! I'm visiting Minneapolis For the first time. Actually Minnesota for the first time. And this little gem is what I discover! Actually it's not little. There's so much in here. I love how they have so much local products. They had a sale on local products while I was there. Incredible! Lots and lots of vegan options! Love how they use the term traditional for things that are not vegan and vegan is almost the norm. an incredible selection particularly of chocolate, kombucha, teas, those were the things that I was looking for. If I could have a love affair here, I would. If price were not an issue, that is. The produce is a beauteous selection and marked by organic status and state source- love that. The bulk bins are incredibly diverse. The breads are made here and elsewhere but also looking wondrous. Really though, as far as co-ops go the reason you will love this place is that everything you would need is here. They have a good amount of prepared food that though not cheap, is well labeled and organized by food, dessert and beverage. I cannot believe that I can purchase some vegan salads and sides and entrees, in-house desserts, and smoothies and coffee/ espresso that all taste incredible?! All while purchasing some grocery items?! If I lived in Minneapolis, I would go broke buying food here. Like others have said, the food is pricy and good... Dilemma for penny pinchers and those who must budget. So good! Impressively good food for a co-op!! read more

Prices are pretty steep here but you can't argue the quality or freshness of the food at this place. The staff here are very friendly and helpful...except for one cashier who makes you unload your basket...which is the oddest thing to me... There usually is some type of new breed of fruit there are offering for $8-$9 a pound that you can't find anywhere else. Usually when I stop here it's to hit up their deli and their bakery. The egg salad and tuna salad are the most delicious versions I've ever had and their curry chicken salad is to die for. I usually get one..or all of those salads with a fresh french baguette. I appreciate that they sell products from a lot of local vendors, like the skordalia dip from Gardens of Solanica. read more

The Wedge has seen some much needed changes in recent years. The remodeling of both the store and the customer service approach of the staff have made this one of the nicer Coops in the metro.The deli here is second to none, outpacing even the Mississippi Market. At busier times, you will see some actual directors of the parking lot traffic, which has truly helped make the store a better experience. My favorite part of this coop is the produce section, they really outdid themselves here in the rehab of the market. Large, attractive, great variety. All in all this is a big step up from the Wedge of old, which sometimes appeared to be riding on a fashionable area and a certain hipster cache. Where once was an ordinary coop with more attitude even than nostril piercings, there is a genuinely top notch, high quality organic and natural market with friendly staff to boot. read more

The Wedge is my first love of all co-ops in the Twin Cities and the first one I became a member at. Great selection, a lot of items offered in bulk that aren't offered in bulk at other locations (hey, if you're making a recipe with seaweed in it, sometimes committing to a whole package of kombu with the inevitable leftovers is depressing). These are the guys who set the trends for all other co-ops; always pushing the envelope and trying new things. Their recent offsite expansion, The Wedge Table, is on my list to check out. This isn't a location that an employee is going to check-up on you while you're shopping, they tend to keep to their tasks at hand (with the exception of the health and body department AND the meat department, they're GREAT at checking to see if you need help with anything). If you have questions about anything in and around the store though, just approach someone on staff, and they are extremely helpful and accommodating. Besides the expected fresh, expansive, and organic produce at a co-op, their addition of the fresh almond and peanut butter machines have me solely devoted to their location for the freshness of this product (think about it...NOT having to stir the oil back into the nut butter gives you the upper hand over all other nut butter consumers...oh, and it's "fluffy", too!). The meat & seafood counter is one-of-a-kind in variety, quality, and service. They even provide the fresh and more difficult to find 100% grass-fed beef cuts from Thousand Hills Cattle Company (where most other locations sell pre-packaged). For those who like to make bone broths, they have a great supply of soup bones waiting for you in their freezer. Also, one of their many unique features is a fresh juice bar (if I'm going to drink juice, I don't want the pasteurized and pre-bottled juice, give me the real deal!) This is a great place to find fun and random gifts for your foodie friends. There's always something new to try at the Wedge. read more
