Trader Joe's - Clean gender-neutral bathroom

Trader Joe's

I am so happy to be living within walking distance of a Trader Joe's. Especially in the current…read moreeconomy... it seems that Trader Joe's prices haven't gone up much while other groceries jack up their prices higher and higher... I used to think of Trader Joe's as a more upper-middle class grocer, but not anymore. Everything (with the exception of meat and milk) is very affordable. That said, their shopping experience remains the same high-quality, enjoyable experience, with aisles of yummy options to browse, especially with the rotating seasonal options and new offerings. I've been here several times since moving to Eagan, and I've always encountered friendly employees. The checkout always moves quickly and efficiently. I also love grabbing some free stickers and coloring pages on my way out; it's like a little dopamine burst for my inner child! There are restrooms available to shoppers. They are gender-neutral, which is awesome for a trans guy like me. The bathroom walls are decorated with fun paintings much like the rest of the inside. They are also spacious and clean. Occasionally I have spotted a local food truck parked nearby, serving unique offerings. Once I got to snag some apple cider donuts that way, hehe. The only thing that's a negative about this place is that the parking lot (shared with the movie theatre) is smallish and has a weird layout, so navigating that can be quite challenging. Thankfully I usually walk! But even so, I have to watch out crossing because the cars aren't paying attention to pedestrians!

I never really go to Trader Joe's with a list or plan, I kind of just browse to see what they have and grab whatever- usually snacks. Sometimes I hate that I find unique snacks and end up liking/loving them, then they don't carry it anymore but that's not this particular locations fault. This store was very neat. Layout seemed backwards compared to the Bloomington location but it's not a huge store so it's easy to look down every aisle. I love that you can buy single cans of sparking water/drinks here. Staff were super friendly at the checkout.

I checked out this new local grocery store and was shocked to see how wide their selection was. In…read moreaddition to groceries they have a hot bar, baked goods section, and you can purchase fresh tortillas. It is also attached to a bar and restaurant Hugs parking lot out front, prices were very reasonable, and I want to come back to buy a cake for my next birthday celebration.

Love this place. It's like a happy place for us. Their house chips, homemade tortillas, tres leches…read morecake, and a variety of deli items are amazing. We specifically like getting hot queso, guaca, and Tinga from the deli. They can also make you taco and other items for lunch/dinner right at the deli. It's all delicious! My only two complaints are: the deli ordering area itself is awkward to order from. The second there's more than 2 people, it feels crowded and uncomfortable. It's also right next to their house chips and salsa, which are popular items. Maybe they should move them to a place that's not so crowded and busy. Overall the deli ordering area is a massive layout issue. The self-checkouts are also almost never on. It's really annoying. They are right there, but almost never usable. If they aren't going to let me use them, they should just remove them. If would actually be the perfect area to give more space when ordering at the deli. Would solve the layout issue. Overall: go here and get their house chips, tres leches cake towards the back, and some deli items/meals. But be prepared for an awkward layout at the deli, if it's even a little busy.

One of the nicer bigger Asian markets in the area, they also have a sister store in Richfield…read morethat's much smaller. The deli is probably the best thing about this store. So many options for hot ready food. Ring the bell to put in an order while you shop. They also have a lot of cold grab and go items that are great. If you are looking for authentic Asian flavors this is it. The ladies in the back do a great job. Employees are friendly here, if you need something just ask, they usually will tell you what's good and give recommendations. They have mostly everything you need here, I want to say these are Cambodian owners but don't quote me on that. Most of their stuff here is catered more to southeast Asian cuisine. Vegetables are usually really fresh. Meat and seafood is fresh too. Never had any issues with funky smells or anything like other Asian stores Ive gone to. Parking gets sparse when busy. Don't be alarmed by the bars on the doors and window, it seems to be pretty safe here.

During my last trip, I picked up some Chinese Eggplants, bean sprouts, coconut milk, curry paste, and even some red bean sesame balls fresh from their deli area. Service was efficient, but not too friendly. Ambiance was lacking, but on par with many other oriental stores. I'm willing to keep shopping here as long as they keep focus on keeping my fav items in stock at reasonable prices.
