My review is solely based on the pizza and wine night vs. other parts of the orchard such as kids play and the special event tent. The wood-fire pizza concept is adorable and overall a fun experience as it's outside, served from a food truck, contains live music and lots to observe amongst the large area. The pizza once ordered and delivered is extremely fresh with the dough being rolled on-site. My friend and I split the pesto pizza and an appetizer of the caprese salad. The service was excellent once we got through the giant line. There are also a variety of tables and chairs to leverage. The negatives are that the pizza is ordered in one giant line which for us took 1-hour and the tables are hard to snag unless you do in advance. A beeper is provided once ordered and you walk up to claim when the buzzer goes off. I would return just to check out the other areas of the space as the land is gigantic. Contrary, I would probably pass on the pizza experience as once is enough. Parking was easy too which is always a worry for me with a big unpaved lot with lots of signs directing to the right area. I was excited to go here for apple picking because online it looked spectacular, but I was beyond disappointed. Honestly, this place is just a money grab. You pay for entrance, pay for apples (prebagged or YouPick), pay for food, and it's all vastly overpriced - the small YouPick bag (pictured) was $20! We bought hot apple cider and apple crisp, which both were just OK - tasted like they were both from the grocery store, definitely not fresh made, which was super disappointing. Sure, it's pretty scenery and there's a free hayride and a couple of cute little places for photo ops, but the bad far outweighs the good, and it's just not worth spending money on. read more

Wanted to give a 2.5 but that's not an option. I wasn't very impressed. This is the most expensive apple orchard I've ever been to. $10 to get in. $6.50 for a glass of hot cider. And the smaller of the two bags to pick apples was $20!!! We didn't pick any because of this. Other places have a hay ride, this place had one but it was so short! There's a large area for kids to play which is nice but the equipment kids were playing on was very old and needed to be updated. Oh also, in order to get a bad cheeseburger it cost $7. two girlfriends and I stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon in September. We had a lovely day walking around in the sun and picking our Sweet Tango apples! There were barely any people there which was nice, and entry was free because it was during the week, but the fun activities like the hot cider were closed. The apples were delicious, but because of when we went, only the Sweet tango was available. I wish I had made the trip out for other varieties, but I never did. They have the most adorable gift shop on the campus as well! Some cute apparel, puzzles, jewelry, and other fun knick-knacks were there. One girlfriend got a lip balm and lotion that she absolutely loved. I bought some tea that I really enjoyed. I also saw local honey from my favorite place, Ames Farm! read more

This was my first time going to an apple orchard. I was not impressed. I didn't even buy any apples. The apples were already gathered and sold in stores. The actual apple trees hardly had any apples on them. The lines in stores were so long, making it difficult to buy apples. The petting zoo only had 2 goats. There were only 2 places to eat with 30-40 minute lines. 1 line for burgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs and the other line for donuts. Considering that there were so many people, I expected that there would be more vendors with a wide food variety. My apple orchard visit was not fulfilled up to my expectations :( read more

Had a blast avoiding the crowds and visited on a weekday afternoon. Next year will be sure to look at when the varieties of apples mature because while there were plenty of apples & trees were beautifully pruned (so much so that many had fallen to the ground), there was really only variety to pick from. Beautiful grounds, a very cute gift shop with lots of quality yet affordable items, a variety of food and drinks (although not all available on a weekday), and the forest walk was absolutely stunning. A friend and I went to the pizza and wine night and it took over 2 hours to get our pizza after our order was placed. Additionally, seating was limited and we had to sit in the pitch black with no lighting as there were no tables in the lit up area available. Then, an employee went around passing out free charcuterie boards and had the audacity to give them to people that were already served their pizzas which was the last straw. Some of closest friends wanted a 'fall outing' and what better place to go then an apple orchard! After looking online Minnetonka Orchard had everything! A maze, apple picking, a pumpkin patch, petting zoo, apple sling shot (was on the bachelor!), hayrides and basically all fall activities! My main issue with the place is the price, it's expensive! First you have to pay to go in the orchard. I bought apples, we bought lunch. It added up quickly! My other issue is that I didn't know about the 2 entrances until I was struggling to find my friends. There is a map, but it's not the best. If you're going in search of specific apples, I'd talk to someone who works there to make sure you're getting what you want. After picking some we found a whole different section of apples that wasn't picked over at all. On the upside it was fun! We had apple brats which was amazing! The apples were good and did offer samples so we knew what we were buying. The apple cider and apple donuts are fresh and great! There also is a wedding chapel area that is adorable, however! If it was my wedding I'd hate having people that I don't know in my wedding photos and such. There were lots of little kids running around, families, and couples so it was great. I won't go back. Pay to get in and then wait to get a bag for pick your own. Was told they only had 2 kinds and that they might be hard to find and at the top of the trees. They said they'd top off your bag if you didn't get enough of what you wanted. Went to pick (as that was the experience of going in the first place). Didn't find one good apple. They were rotten on the trees. The trees themselves looked diseased. Wanted to get my money back, but no refunds. They "filled" my bag when I went back and they asked if I found any. I said no. Then was told yeah, I thought that would happen. You know how many apples I got for $21? 5!! Ridiculous. I'll go to the store. Why are you charging an entrance fee when you know you're not gonna get anything? Waited about 1/2 hour for a brat and asked for the apple saurkraut on top for an additional $1. Only to watch people that didn't pay for it ask to have it put on and they did. Went to get a glass of wine, they gave the person ahead some and then said they were closing and shut the door. The orchard was still open for several hours. Mini donuts? Try $11 for 12 mini donuts! Nope! Took the grandkids over to the play area that was complete unorganized chaos. We were extremely disappointed with our visit to Minnetonka Orchards. This was our second "Apple Orchard" visit since moving to Minnesota, and it taught us that all orchards are definitely NOT created equal. This orchard is extremely poorly run and operated; most of the workers are high school kids and put little attention into efficiency or cleanliness. Lines for all of the food options are extremely long and barely move; one of us stood in the apple doughnut line for almost 45 minutes and didn't even make it halfway thought. The caramel apple line ran out while I was in it, making that wait a complete waste of time. The workers at the apple bratwurst line were practicing terrible hygiene; rubbing their faces and then using those same (un-gloved) hands to prepare food. Worst of all, nearly all of the apple trees had been picked, meaning there were only a small handful of apples left on trees, most of which were in various stages of rotting. We basically paid just to take the hayride, which sorta fun, but not worth the admission fee or parking hassle by itself. I would DEFINITELY look elsewhere when picking what apple orchard to visit! read more

There's no food on the weekdays I guess you have to be early to get anything it looked like a ghost town to be honest it was a better orchard 4 years ago the ambiance was so much better they also had better things in the gift shop and services would be open to try I was disappointed but it's my fault for having such high hopes maybe next year will be better. read more

I was here for an October wedding, and as Minnesota fall weather would have it, it was wet and cold, :-( We moved the wedding ceremony inside the huge party tent, and all was well. After the ceremony, the winter coats were donned. Can;t control the weather!! But we all survived , they were overjoyed to be married, and the food was darn good. By the end the tent did leak a little though. As for the Orchard, what I saw of it was impressive, The staff was extremely friendly, If I lived closer, I would return with family for sure. I've been here before and have had such a variety of experiences, so this review is going to be based on the most recent. We visited the orchards yesterday (9/17) as an impromptu date night and an excuse to eat apples and peanut butter for a snack. We got there and they weren't all that busy, which was a huge plus. They DID have a wedding going on so parking was a little stuffed, but nothing too terrible. $7 just to get in - bummer, but ok. Then $20 for a peck of apples, which is actually where things turn south. They advertised having both SweeTango and Sweet 16's available, which was blatantly false. The SweeTangos were completely picked over, and the only ones left on the trees were mealy and buggy, so pretty dang gross. We did go over to the Sweet 16's which looked great and taste just fine. I'm no apple snob, so I'll take what I can get. But for $20, you'd think you could get the ones you wanted. We also got the "apple" mini donuts, which were delicious but I'm actually not sure there's any apple added in? They list the ingredients on the bag (yes!!) but I didn't see apples listed (scary) so that's a wash. Other fun activities include a corn maze, hay rides, petting zoo, and more. It's dog-friendly too, so that's a big selling point for me. My advice - go with the expectation of having a fun time, but know that apple picking is just part of the experience and not the destination! read more

There was more to this place than met the eye upon arrival. We ended up wandering around the paths for hours exploring. The live music was definitely a plus, the apples were expensive but sooooo delicious. While wandering we found various activities like he corn maze, a tire swing, a wedding (which looked lovely!), fun face-in-the-hole photo ops, a tractor tour around the property, and a cute little country store set up with apple tasting. I was not disappointed in this trip at all, even the bathrooms were surprisingly modern and clean. I would definitely visit again! read more

There are two different types of apple orchards: low key and high maintenance. Minnetonka Orchards is both. If you go on a weekend, you have to pay an admission fee, but there will be live music, fresh cooked mini donuts and brats, and lots and lots of people. If you go on a weekday, there's no admission charge and no extra gimmicks. Also, no crowds. I only go on weekdays, but it is a personal choice. This year I took two seven year olds and a three year old and we had a great time! Only one other group was there and the row of apples we were assigned was great. It was Honeycrisp, so yes it was expensive, but cheaper than buying them at a store. A peck for us was 32 apples (for $24) which is a lot, but they last for a while. I don't believe I've ever had an option of what to pick at this orchard. You always want to call ahead if you're picky about your apple type. Also, between the four of us we ate at least 8 apples while picking. The employees were very nice to us. It is pretty easy to get to, but it's not really anywhere near Minnetonka. Still, it is one of the closest orchards to Minneapolis. read more

Not all orchards are created equal. Last year, I visited Pine Tree and discovered that I couldn't pick my own apples, so I investigated a different option this time and landed at Minnetonka Orchards. Entrance admission is $6 on weekends, which grants you access to the orchard, the corn maze and all of the other farm-themed play equipment for kids. There is a lot of open space, which makes the orchard a top-notch picnic spot. I could spend hours here on a beautiful fall day if the bees died down. To pick your own apples, you'll want to head left past the entrance and follow the path or hop on a hayride. Locate the bright yellow "U-Pick" wooden hut, and pick up a plastic bag. It costs $18 for approximately 10lbs of apples, and there are four varieties to choose from, though the trees will indicate that Honeycrisp is a clear favorite. You can pay with cash or credit. There's also a small concession stand labeled "Feed Hut" where you can grab hot dogs, chips, soda and hot or cold cider. I was hoping for cider donuts, apple sundaes or Queen Anne's apples, but no such luck. (Pine Tree one-ups Minnetonka in the snack department.) All in all, Minnetonka Orchards charmed me, and if someone was to literally ask me "How you like them apples?" I'd say "Just fine, thanks!" read more

My wife and I have visited this orchard for a number of years, and unfortunately this most recent visit was quite a disappointment. From their website, we noticed that the past few weekends it seemed like they weren't running at full capacity. This weekend it finally seemed like they had most things up and running. When we arrived we went straight to the store at the top of the hill. We immediately noticed all the shelves that used to have all sorts of food, baking mixes, etc. were very sparce and had just a few large decorative pieces. We got some donuts and sat at the picnic area. There were wasps flying around everywhere, and no one who worked there seemed to be doing much about it. We went down the hill and found that the "hay mountain" was just a pile of compacted, soggy, wet hay. The petting zoo had a large broken tent behind it, and the handwash station was rusty, full of flies, and didn't have any soap or paper towels. As we left we couldn't help but wonder if it had been sold or changed ownership in the last year, because not much else could explain such a dramatic decline. This used to be our go to orchard, but we will definitely be looking other places first in the future, and would recommend you do as well. read more

Family friendly orchard with lots of activities! Though it can be packed during the day and there were quite a few bees last time we visited, we still had fun! When you arrive there are usually spots in the parking lot, and you can pre buy tickets or buy them when you arrive. They have pumpkin patches, a petting zoo with different animals, a fun corn maze that is great early in the season. They have a gazebo and a gorgeous wedding venue if you're looking for an orchard setting! Tons of apple types where you can pick your own or buy pre picked bags! Cute gift shop with cider, house decor, candy and other things as well! Right outside the gift shop they have burgers and hot dogs, as well as the cutest donut house ever and an apple sundae booth. The donuts are so good, I would recommend them to anyone, and they take card!!! They have a hayride which is really fun and overall it's a great fall activity if you're looking to be outside and take some great pics. read more

We brought the kids here for MEA weekend, which meant there were lots of fun activities-- corn maze, petting zoo, apple sling shot. The grounds are truly lovely; be sure to check out the view from the overlook seating area. The hayride through the woods was beautiful (and mildly "spooky" for Halloween.) And hooray for being dog friendly! My biggest complaint was the price! Between admission for 4 people, and lunch, and a bag of apples we picked for $10, it was not a cheap outing. My other complaint was that the apples were not marked in the fields. The map had a list of varieties available, but there was no way to tell which variety was which on the trees. Pro tip: You have to try the donuts! Amazing. And you can watch them being made, which is kind of mesmerizing. The brats cooked in cider are also delicious. read more

Came here on a Saturday with our 1 year old daughter in October. There was a lot going on: live music, mini trolley rides for kids, petting zoo, beer/wine for sale, brats for sale, mini doughnuts, the corn maze, vendors selling things, pumpkin patch area, apple picking and hay rides. This was a 'special weekend' so they had a lot going on. So much to see and do, our daughter really enjoyed it. I liked that we could easily grab a beer and relax a bit with the live music. It was a great vibe. I was really disappointed by the hay ride. We got onto the ride, went about 500 yards (1.5 minutes) down the hill. There, another long line of people were waiting to get on. The driver stopped and expected us to all get off. We asked to ride a bit longer and she asked us to get off. Talk about a lack-luster experience there. My daughter enjoyed climbing the hay stacks, visiting the goats and playing in the sand box there. This place is very kid-friendly. Overall, a fun place to visit & lots to see and do. I had never heard of Minnetonka Orchards until this year when suddenly it was EVERYWHERE on my social feeds! Always up for a bandwagon, I bought a Groupon ($20 for admission and lunch for 2) and off we went. While not perfect, we had a really good time! The biggest thing our experience was missing was some sort of onboarding when we arrived. We handed over our Groupon, someone gave us a ticket for the apple slingshot (which was hilarious because my kid is 2), and that was it. No instruction, no map, no nothing. And while it's not the biggest place in the world, we really could have used a helpful intro from the staff - where's the apple picking, where are the donuts, where do we get lunch, what are all these tents, what activities are available, etc. There were definitely a few highlights from our visit. First, the tractor rides. We could have just stayed on the tractor loop for our entire day and the toddler would have been 100% satisfied! Food was another plus - both the apple donuts and the apple brats we enjoyed. Flavorful, delicious, didn't weigh us down. We didn't actually do any apple picking this year (because toddler), but bought a bag of Honeycrisp at the shop before we left. This was my second year going to Minnetonka Orchards for their "Dog Days of Autumn" weekend, and I feel like this year was a little lackluster compared to last year. There is definitely room for improvement at the orchards- more activities, less bees (the bees are seriously a HUGE problem, and we probably would have stayed longer if there weren't so many bees right by the food stand/seating area! Can't they redirect the bees somewhere else or relocate the food stand somewhere away from swarms of bees?) Their apple cider is phenomenal, and the hayride was fun (albeit short). The employees are all friendly, and I know I will likely return next year if they continue offering the "Dog Days of Autumn" weekend. read more

I found Minnetonka orchards through a simple google search for best orchards in the Minneapolis area, and brought some bffs from Bumble. The map they provide upon entrance is a tad confusing, but after I got the hang of it I directed us straight to the petting farm. I was greeted by an amazing little goat, who proceeded to chomp on my fingers. So cute. I also held a chicken for the first time! Minnetonka Orchards is not in Minnetonka. It is, however, worth the drive to Mound. Despite the slight trek out the the orchard, this place is pretty busy. My boyfriend surprised me with a trip here for our 1-year anniversary and we had a blast. We went on a Saturday so there were families everywhere but there were also a lot of activities going on. They had animals, a corn maze, kids activities, live music, and food. Weekends are perfect for families but if you'd like to avoid the hustle and bustle, go on a weekday. Apparently they have no additional events but there are much fewer people. Regardless of the day, the scenery is to die for. There is a hill at the top of the orchard that looks out over the trees that is stunning with the autumn colors. I took a ton of pictures and had an amazing time! I'd can't wait for next fall so I can go back. read more

The employees seem completely overwhelmed this weekend and none of them seem to know the answers as to why they don't have half the retail available that people are requesting (coffee beans, apple pie, etc). This orchard is awful. The entry fee is $7 per person, which is higher than other places but not totally out of line. However, what really got me steamed was learning it costs an additional $29 to pick a bag of apples (the bag appeared to fit 15-20 apples). Also, if you wish to purchase an apple to eat, well, that'll cost you another $3 per apple! The corn maze is small, the place doesn't even make it's own apple cider and the food options are terrible. Spend your money at one of the better orchards around the area. Either that or buy apples at the grocery store for a third of the price. read more

We attended a kids birthday party at the orchard, and were disappointed with extremely poor service and amenities. The pizza was inedible, even kids refused to eat it. The free face painting and rides were not free, we had to pay $1-$2 extra for each kid. The staff was unfriendly and not flexible. It was poring rain and our entire toddler birthday party was asked to leave the tent the minute we paid the bill, even though we cleaned up after ourselves and there was no other party scheduled after us. When we asked if there was anywhere we could take shelter from the rain, we were told no. In the mean time all event tents stood empty. The party attendant just shrugged it off. Very unprofessional and unfriendly. I will never visit again, and will make sure to warn others to take their money elsewhere. read more

This place has gone down hill quickly. Save your time and money and go somewhere else. 10 AM opening time was really 1020 because their employees didnt have money to give cash back. Then, they didnt say that the minimum amount of apples to purchase was $40. This was disclosed after my two small children had already picked apples...so that didnt seem fair. Asked for manager, no one showed up for 30 minutes. Just paid the ransom and left. Will never be back. read more

Besides all things apples and apple picking, they have hayrides, a petting zoo, play equipment for kids (in the shape of a train), a corn maze, a little shop and more. Make sure you try the apple cider and fresh apple donuts. Yum! If you can go on a weekday, it is free admission and less people. Weekends are $6, I think, and you will be dealing with a crowd. If I could give them negative stars, I would. My fiancé and I chose Minnetonka Orchards as the perfect place for our dream wedding. We quickly secured our summer of 2020 date with them and paid them in full. Last week I was scrolling through their website showing some of my friends how beautiful it is. As I continued to look through, I stumbled upon a page on their site that says "WE ARE NO LONGER HOLDING ANY WEDDINGS FOR THE 2020 SEASON". Of course my heart immediately sank and I started to panic. I called them to see if what I had read was true, and unfortunately it is. I spoke to their new Wedding coordinator, who was very kind. She had only been in her new role for one day, and was not the coordinator who I booked the wedding with (that coordinator had resigned). Obviously this is not her fault. It is the fault of the owners/management. The worst part is their stupid excuse for canceling my wedding (which I've done a ton of planning for already) is that they are "financially restructuring". All this info has still not come from anyone higher than the new wedding coordinator. I paid the rental fee in full because they offered 10% off by paying in full when I booked it in June. No one has been answering the phones to discuss how and when I will be getting my money back. Not only am I appalled that I found all this out by stumbling on it on their website, they do not even have the decency to call me and tell me themselves while they have my money. Also, I have a broken ankle and am currently handicapped and I now have to scramble to find a new venue that has the same date. This literally could not be happening at a worse time for me and they don't care at all. I'm just disgusted by whoever thinks it's okay to treat people like this when you have our money and we trusted you with one of the most important events of our lives. read more

Nice apple orchard with a bunch of things for small kids. If you don't have a young one, you'll likely find yourself getting bored. There is a corn maze, a couple of trains, a petting zoo, a couple of playgrounds, and a few other things for kids. The layout of the place is fairly scattered and to make it worse, you don't get any directions or instructions. The donuts were good, but didn't try any other foods. We went MEA weekend and it was pretty busy, but there weren't any apples to pick, kind of defeating the intention of going. All in all, it was a fine experience, but a little pricey for what you get. With a little tweaking/TLC, it could easily be a 5 star experience. read more
