We visited around 8:15AM on a Sunday morning and picked for about an hour. We each picked between 4.75-8.50 pounds of strawberries (about 6lbs pictured). The fields were vast, with plenty of space to pick away from people. The area is well kept and I would recommend pants and tennis shoes to avoid rubbing against the plants. read more

I visited Berry Hill Farm the last Saturday in September with my cousin and three of her children. The kids enjoyed the petting zoo area (goats, rabbits, llamas), the bounce house, bubble wands, corn kernel play area, etc. We checked out the pumpkin patch and bought some treats from the cafe/gift shop. Tractor rides were available. Raspberries could still be picked. To go through the petting zoo, etc. was $10 admission for adults. Children under a certain age were free. Ample parking. Restrooms with changing tables. We had a really fun time. read more

Yes. Fresh strawberries = one of the truest most pure joys of summer. Coming from the cities, we drove somewhat past another berry farm I've visited, bc Berry Hill is better. The berries are wonderful, the farm is lovely. Your GPS is working just fine, it's in a random nook of farm land. These fields are child friendly. Their FB seems to be well updated. When we arrived, the delightful teens told us we had about 45 minutes before the storms rolled in and suggested we only take two flats to fill. When I went back for the third flat, the teenagers said "I wish I had my phone so I could take pictures of this sky." Someone had internet access, bc they pulled us off the fields about ten minutes later and the timing was perfect to weigh in and pay (checks and cash preferred, there's a small charge to use credit cards) and when we rolled out, the sky was opening up like crazy. Delicious. Well organized. Berries were so good. I called the hotline to confirm that they were picking and they they have an active Facebook page. They show you where to park, grab a basket and they assign you a row to pick. I was there for about 30 minutes and picked nine pounds. It was perfect. The strawberries are so fresh and good. I agree with another review, these won't last more than a few days. I served strawberry shortcake and froze the rest. One note. I did not put sugar in these berries. Everyone thought they were sweet enough without.... We will be back again. read more

I have been coming to Berry Hill for 3 years now. My husband and I joined the mailing list. We start to get antsy towards mid June waiting for the long awaited email letting us know the strawberries are ready. The farm is about 35 minutes from Minneapolis but this year we fought through rush hour traffic on Monday evening to get to the farm for the first day of picking. They give you a box to put your loot in and the rest is up to you. The berries are so juicy and sweet. These are how they are supposed to taste. The family is so friendly and they make the picking easy and enjoyable. We usually get about 10 lbs a visit. You would be surprised how fast 10 lbs of strawberries disappear when they taste like this. Call ahead if you are coming after 12pm to make sure they have enough for the day. read more

Strawberry season is just about over, but we managed to get to Berry Hill Farm this past weekend. And it was worth it! The drive is around 30 minutes from Minneapolis. Be forewarned, as Google Maps tells you to get onto Cleary Road, start counting your miles because it's just a weeny street sign as you're driving 60mph along N Ferry/MN-47. It's very casual. You drive past the owners' house and up a short ways to the strawberry patch. It's HUGE. If you're picking with someone, it's best that each person gets their own basket. The going was about $1.65 per pound. So cheap! If you're a lazy mofo, they also have pre-picked strawberries. The strawberries are DELICIOUS. Very small but red all the way through, not like the store-bought kind, and sweet. It's too easy to pick a lot, but you can always give them to friends and family, which impresses them a lot and increases your popularity. Unlike store-bought strawberries, these have a short shelf life. While regular strawberries can be left in the fridge for a week, I only felt comfortable with these for about two days. We ate a lot right away - with vanilla ice cream, mmmm - but we also froze the rest. It's pretty easy, just clean the berries and dry them thoroughly. Cut off the caps, put some wax paper or cling wrap on a baking sheet, and place them cut-side down. Cover loosely with another sheet of cling wrap and put in the freezer for a few hours. Then put them in a freezer bag and try to suck as much air out as you can. The most important thing about berry picking is to CALL AHEAD. Berry Hill does have a website, but it's always better to call and make sure they will be open the day and hour you want to go. PS. According to those in the know, strawberry picking is best done when the weather is not scorchingly hot. read more

If I could give this place a zero, I would. I had my wedding here six years ago. I had hand painted signs to point my guests in the right direction, when we left to go home (several hours early) all of the signs were taken down. A couple of things were forgotten in wedding fray, and I called to make arrangements to pick them up from 1.5 hours away. When I arrived they let me know that they'd used my hand painted signs for their bonfire. They did not apologize, and when called later to say the words I hadn't had initially - they said I hadn't cleaned to their satisfaction and so "we all didn't get what we wanted". I wanted to let it go so bad, but still today it's bothering me. So there it is. If you like it when people burn your belongings and have no apologies for it - definitely work with these people. read more

I just couldn't sit in my cubicle anymore, so I decided to head out to Berry Hill Farm for some fresh air and some yummy fresh berries. I was excited to learn that the farm was still picking strawberries today and had just started picking raspberries too. Score! I drove out to Anoka, following a hay truck, and turned into the farm. After grabbing a tray for the berries, I headed over to an isolated area of the farm (except for a super cute skunk family) and starting picking. It took about an hour to fill up my tray. After the strawberries, I headed over to the raspberries (to the relief of my lower back). The man at the stand brought me a nifty little table holder for the containers and I quickly filled a pint of berries. I left the farm feeling rejuvenated, smelling like sunshine, and very happy. read more

Excellent 2017 berry season! Great strawberries ; sweet and juicy, just perfect. Will come back again!

We went in the fall (October 16) for some pumpkins/farm animals/hay ride fun with our kids and family from out of the area. We were the only ones there, and it was beautiful weather, so that made it worth it. It was $3 per adult plus $2 for kids (I think) and that got us a look at the one goat, one sheep, one cow.... nothing really great to buy in their little barn/shop. Some crafts someone set up and lots of squash and little pumpkins. I think they have a cafe open on the weekends, though. Everyone went on a wagon ride around the farm, for an additional charge. I guess it's a good deal for the people, getting paid to let strangers wander around your farm for an hour! We'll try a different place next year. read more
