Bistro Steak Salad

Service was great first off. Drinks were mid. Food was mid as well. Burgers were frozen patty no flavors buffalo chicken wrap was the best thing and the steak salad tasted like canned soup beef. Not impressed.

Chicken and avocado pita with fish and chips in the background

Excellent service, great selection of beer, and we thought our meals were super tasty! The Fish and Chips with fries were notable! Lightly battered and whoever was working the fryer did a perfect job! The chicken and avocado pita was creamy and flavorful. Thanks for the great dining experience. Yum! As a side note, walkable distance to US Bank Stadium and the U of M campus.

Cream of Chicken Wild Rice

I was visiting from out of town on a rainy day and wanted a hot meal--the chicken and wild rice soup was exactly what I was looking for and then some. Great little place with good food and a comfortable atmosphere. Will make a point to go back next time I'm in town.

Came here on a whim while we were walking around downtown Minneapolis. The service here is wonderful and shoutout to our waitress for being so awesome! It's a traditional style pub and walking in, we felt the chill and cool vibe and atmosphere. Plenty of seating around as well. We ordered the following: Soy garlic edamame: 8/10 - it was really good and salty from the soy! The edamame beans were steamed perfectly and provided that crisp pop when you bit into one. We would taste the garlic as well and it was very pleasant on the tongue. Mac and cheese: 8/10: I thought it would be the traditional noodles but it was penne style instead. It was rich, cheesy, creamy, and the pasta cooked al dente. It came with a toasted, buttered baguette slice. It was enough to feed two people and my coworker and I shared it. It was insanely good but I prefer the regular style mac and cheese noodles. To me, this was like a step above your average mac and cheese. Mexican corn dip - 9/10: do yourself a favor and get this as your appetizer! It tasted exactly like a warm elote! The flavors were outstanding and the added lime was the chef's kiss. it comes with fresh tortilla corn chips and when you first get a taste of the dip, you taste the richness of the Cotija cheese, and then follows the sweet corn and tangy lime juice and tajin. Then you end up with the slight spicy kick at the end. We all came to the consensus that this was our favorite item of the day! We finished every corn kernel. My other coworkers had a steak salad with blue cheese dressing and a slow roasted pull pork with tater tots. They both enjoyed their food as well. Prices were good for the portion size as well and our drinks were refilled and we were checked on regularly. Come try this place out! You won't be disappointment!

Lives up to its name - a great spot to grab a drink and have some pub food! We stopped here for a bite after an appointment in the area. The service is stand-out here - servers were friendly and attentive during our meal! They've got a bunch of stuff on rotating tap, and some specialty cocktails. Check out their happy hour deals while you're there. We ordered WAY too much as usual - our eyes are always bigger than our stomachs! My partner and I split the wild rice soup - creamy, hearty, and flavorful. I ordered Buffalo wings - because a good pub knows their wings! - and ordered waffle fries as a "side". Spoiler alert: these waffle fries could have been two whole meals alone! So. Many. Fries. But they were delicious and crispy - served with addicting seasoned sour cream. The wings came out HOT and juicy with ranch and blue cheese on the side. Delicious! My partner got the burger and wasn't wowed but a decent patty with tons of tots. Great service and quality bar food in a cozy setting.

Thanks Maxwelll's. This is a perfect place to pick in Minneapolis to meet with friends before or after a gopher game or any event and these servers are really friendly. Not stuffy here. Bloody, beer, wings...all good, fresh and quick. Convenient place to Uber to and from also.

5/5 for Food, Bloody Marys, Atmosphere, Service We happened to stop in yesterday after a horrible try at Day Block down the block. Maxwells welcomed us with open arms and we had the best server: Olivia. The Bloody Marys were fantastic, full of flavor and the bar service was incredibly speedy. We ordered a few other drinks and my friend wanted to sample a few beers and that was no problem either! We ordered some snacks to share: the pretzel bites and dry and Buffalo wings. Super tasty, complete with ranch and blue cheese to dip. Food was hot, delicious and quick! What a relaxing place to meet up with friends before an event - I will definitely be back. Thank you Olivia!!

Homemade Mac and Cheese Dish, Smokey Mountain Chicken Sandwich Special, Buffalo Chicken Wrap Special, burger

Recently went here for dinner and drinks with some friends and we all had a great time! Service was super friendly and speedy. We ordered a burger, Mac and cheese, Smokey mountain chicken sandwich, and Buffalo chicken wrap. I personally tried the Mac and cheese and chicken sandwich, and both were delicious & would definitely order them again. The sandwiches also come with a ton of super yummy waffle fries each, which we loved. Food was affordable (about $14 per meal) and drinks were super cheap compared to other places in the area (ours were between $4.50 and $6 each). Typical bar/pub vibe inside, perfect for a casual night out either for dinner, drinks, or both.

OVERALL: I can attest that Maxwell's is in fact, the best kept secret. Unassuming location next to a gas station. ATMOSPHERE: I was hesitant when my friend suggested a casual/"dive bar" location for drinks & dinner but maxwell's was clean and homey. Lots of seating available for the space. SERVICE: We sat at the bar and received excellent service. Bartender was always making sure we had drinks and that our food was good! He also recommended some of his favorite food options which helped us decide what to get. FOOD: I ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and it hit the spot. I would say the sauce itself is more bbq than "Nashville hot" but it was still tasty! It had fried pickles on it as well which I liked. Also, they use chicken tenders as the chicken, as a heads up. Still delicious but maybe not what I expected. The waffle fries and seasoned sour cream is a must. The mac and cheese was delicious. They use penne pasta which I personally prefer over macaroni noodles. My friend ordered Cajun shrimp as the protein. DRINKS: You can order whatever drink you'd like, I always like a good dirty Shirley. PRICE: The rail drinks were $6. What a deal (and this is outside happy hour!) the food was $15 an entree.

Best bartender!! Josh

We actually ended up here twice during our visit to Minneapolis. It has a good variety of options,…read morequite a bit of seating both upstairs and downstairs, and is relatively quick. It does have British pub type food as advertised along with some other things. It does get busy and can be a bit loud but they have enough space that the tables are at least not on top of each other so that really helps with the noise level. I had the split peas because you just kind of have to have a true British thing at a place called Brit's pub and the cheese toasty. The toasty was really the winner here - to be somewhat expected, but wow, nice and crispy and cheesy! On our second visit I had the fish and chips which brought back memories of being in the UK. You can't go wrong with a visit here.

When we entered at 12:30pm, the host told us that it was too late for breakfast since I was keen on some variation of a full English. Was surprised that they had stopped serving breakfast or brunch given the weekend. The menu still had a lot of variety although the prices were higher than expected. I thought it might have been a World Cup markup but checking the website today showed that they were consistent. Then again the website didn't show any breakfast options either so maybe they just don't serve breakfast. Ordered the fish and chips. The portions were large but should be given the $28 price. The batter was malty but had a weird aftertaste. Maybe it's the oil. Our waitress was nice.

George & The Dragon is a super cool restaurant that my hubby and I tried for a double date night…read morewith our friends. We came on a Monday night at 6:15pm. This place does get busy so definitely keep that in mind. Luckily I made reservations ahead of time so we had a table waiting for us, otherwise we would have been put on a waiting list since it's a small space. They put us in a corner booth which was nice and spacious enough for 4 people so I'd definitely recommend asking for a booth verse a table if you're planning to come with a larger group. The servers are all very friendly and helpful. I appreciated their attentiveness and sharing what they like best, especially for what's in season based on the time of year. The menu has quite a bit of variety too which is sometimes unexpected when you come to a pub-style location. For appetizers we got Onion Ring and Fried Pickles. They were both really good and served with dipping sauces. Definitely both shareable items so if you're in a group they'd be great options! My entree I chose the Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon served with lemon soy marinade, creamy cucumbers, and jasmine rice -- it was SO good!! I loved the creaminess of the cucumbers especially with the rice and than the lemon soy marinade was just a unique touch to the salmon. Toned the flavors down without overpowering acidity. And the salmon was so dreamy, a beautiful pink color that you just knew it wasn't a farm raised salmon. Plus the portion was very generous!! I'd definitely recommend the Alaskan Sockeye Salmon to anyone interested in visiting here. #eatwildsavewild The only negatives (which are more so just knowledge bombs for you): * Restaurant is VERY loud. It's hard to hear because it is one small room that everyone plus the bar is in. I wished I would have took a picture to show what I mean. Just know that if it's an intimate setting you're looking for this is not the place. So be prepared to talk loudly over the loudness and ask "excuse me?" or "repeat that" many times throughout your visit because you're not going to hear everything. * Timed eating. Because this place is a hit with limited seating, once you get a table and complete your meal/payment you'll kindly be asked to leave so that they can clean up and open the table to next in line. Totally get that and am not put off by this at all, but I could see how it could catch some folks off guard especially if you are out for a meal with folks you may not see frequently-- so just keep that in mind. This is not the place to sit and talk post meal. * Parking is limited. Be prepared to walk a few blocks as the road parking in front of the business is pretty limited especially with the other stores and restaurants in the area. Regardless of those few bullets I highly recommend folks visit George & The Dragon. It's a really cool spot and the food was great! Plus theirs a malt shop right next door that looks yummy too, so definitely worth visiting and getting malts after for dessert.
