We grabbed a seat on the patio since the weather was nice, and the staff was friendly and attentive. Service was quick, and our food arrived in a timely manner. I ordered the Sandy Signature Burger with fries. The burger had great flavor, the onions were cooked perfectly, and the cheese was melted just right. The bun held together well from start to finish, which is always a plus. At only $9 for the burger and $13.75 with fries, it felt like an excellent value and was the perfect amount of food. My wife ordered the Sandy Sizzler with tots, and here's what she had to say: "This burger was juicy and flavorful. The seasoning was spot on, enhancing the beef without overpowering it. The jalapeños added the perfect amount of heat, while the chipotle mayo brought a smoky, creamy kick that tied everything together beautifully. The crispy tots were the perfect side--golden, crunchy, and cooked well. While the portion wasn't huge, it was just the right amount to complement the burger without leaving you overly full." Sandy's Tavern's is a classic dive bar! Reasonable prices, plenty of beers, and some classic American fried foods! I was a first-time diner, and was clearly surrounded by regulars on a Friday night! Heads up - the parking lot was full and so was the restaurant! That being said, I think taking a street parking spot was well worth the extra walk. First timer. I was really excited to try this place as I've heard great things, specifically about their burgers. I love a good burger but sadly, my burger and tots just weren't good. I ate half of the burger for lunch and took the rest home. I couldn't eat the tots after the first one as they were soaked in grease that tasted old so I threw those away. I'm giving 3 stars simply because I don't want to completely bash a long-standing, community-loved, neighborhood joint. Cute vibe inside and everyone was polite to me. This place was exactly what I wanted it to be. Unfussy, old school dive, chaotic decor, friendly staff, attentive service. I met some girlfriends for rounds of beers and some food on a Friday around 7. No issues getting a seat. Beers came in heavy glass which I always appreciate. The jalapeno poppers were very good. I also got a chili cheese dog and some fries. The chili cheese dog was not a sexy menu item, but was exactly what I ordered. The dog was big and the bun was toasted. We discovered this little gem during a late-night burger craving, and I'm so glad we did! We grabbed seats at the bar to catch the basketball game, which was perfectly visible to everyone without being overly loud or chaotic. The bartender on duty was an absolute joy--upbeat, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. I ordered the California burger with American cheese and mayo, along with a side of fries and a glass of their red wine. Everything was delicious! My wife and I were out on our Saturday new restaurant jaunt and we were denied lunch at three places, so I have always wanted to try Sandy's. We entered and it is a very old school dive in deep Richfield Minnesota. Our server was nice and I ordered a Size 7 IPA and my wife got a Diet Pepsi. No Diet Coke, Boo. Solid IPA from St. Louis Park. I don't drink hard liquor, but I only saw beer and wine here and none at the bar, so not sure. I ordered the Richfield cheesesteak. It wasn't cut in half, weird, but the meat was piled on high and lots of caramelized onions and green peppers and the bun was perfect. Really juicy meat and moist veggies. The ambience is very 1960 Richfield. I would probably usually give it a 3, but since there is no 3 1/2, for what it is, I will give it a 4. read more

Sandy's is the very definition of a greasy spoon. You can expect a cold beer and welcoming folks taking care of you. But don't expect any frills or fancy things. The vibe is dark bar, homey, with lots of fried foods. Their specialty is a burger with sour cream and green olives. Not being from the Midwest, I found this a bit strange. I like olives and sour cream but I just didn't find this burger super great. It is apparently quite popular in the community though! I'm not sure you come to Sandy's for the food. Yum! First time visiting this classic establishment, which has been around since 1933. Joined my husband and 8 year old for lunch and were very satisfied with an indulgent lunch of burgers, onion rings and fries! Waitress was friendly and quick! The joint definitely is vintage but the bathroom was incredibly clean. We LOVED the quarter gambling machine game. Burgers were really good but the bun was a little dry and too much bread to burger/sauce ratio in my opinion. Onion rings were phenomenal. Maybe my favorite! Stopped in (for the first time) for lunch with a couple of buddies after having driven by a few dozen times. Sandy's is a smaller place (that's been around since the 1930's) with a couple of outdoor tables out front and high tops and 6-8(?) booths inside. Much of the inside space is taken up by the bar which was manned by our server who was a busy but polite and attentive guy. The place boasts great burgers so I went with the Mushroom Swiss (@ $8.75) and tots. It didn't disappoint...delivered quickly, hot and of good size. A couple of beers were also reasonably priced so our lunch stretched a little later than originally planned. It was worth it. Sandy's isn't for everyone but definitely worth a try if you're looking for a quiet, non-chain place to escape. By the way, the restroom is worth a visit just to check out a smaller than airplane size facility. It's definitely a "one patron at a time" experience so plan your visit with care! The bartender who was working on Saturday in the afternoon was so rude to us as we walked in. She yelled "it's going to be at least 10 minutes before I can get to you". Confused as the place was empty so we took a seat at the bar. After looking at the beers we knew what we all wanted. She comes back behind the bar and starts shoving menus at us and we say we are only having drinks and then she yells again " it doesn't matter, you're still going to have to wait until I finish putting the fire out!" Um what fire? There was one other person sitting at the bar, not sure if she worked there or not but we looked at each other and said we are out of here. Forget seeking out the Juicy Lucy, this was so much better! The ambience is what I have always pictured a true midwestern dive bar to be. Old school, nothing fancy. Started off with a cold Hamm's beer and fried cheese curds....delicious! I then had their play on a Big Mac with onion rings on the side.....the burger was perfectly cooked with some pink in the middle. I devoured it! It was heavenly! To top off the night, they had a bingo game taking place...I ended up winning $65! This tavern was filled with families, elderly couples who know they've been making burgers right for decades, and "good old boys" of all ages sitting at the bar. The bartender was extremely engaging with some small town style stories. There's a star wars pinball machine as well as some fun pop culture memorabilia throughout. ATM and vending machine pull tabs available. Burger was delicious, fries were great after I added a little salt- and spicy ketchup! Classic sodas (root beer on tap!), beer,and wine (mead too!) available. I will definitely be back. My favorite classic style burger in the cities. FYI It is an old house with old AC. It isn't a very cold reprieve on a hot day. Awesome neighborhood dive bar with awesome food and prices! Totally my jam. I've been to Sandy's a few times. Always a great option for late night menu. This visit I enjoyed 1/2 fried chicken sandwich, cheese curds, and jalapeño poppers. Everything was tasty and served hot. Note, if you ask for extra of something, you will receive extra of everything. Example- extra pickles and you will get extra mayo as well (I warned you!). I was very surprised how yummy the fried chicken sandwich was, so good. 1/2 was also a perfect amount. I also learned you can get all sandwiches 1/2... it's an option on the menu which is amazing. I don't want leftovers most of the time. The jalapeño poppers were great- so much yummy cream cheese. I just wish there was a little spice. Can never go wrong with cheese curds- so yummy as well. Our waitress was so busy and she did a wonderful job handling the chaos. Food came out quickly, hot, and yummy. What's for dinner is a question that happens a lot in my household these days. A picky 5 years old that has ups and downs. Trying to feed this 5 years old is harder than finding a bad restaurant. I've been passing Sandy's quite a bit when going to get take out from Cadao Express or I was when shopping for maternity clothes in the same area. Also, one of my friend's parents came here all the way from Woodbury to try before the pandemic says something. This is my first time trying Sandy's and from our take out, it's a no frills kind of a burger and bar joint. I get the feeling is like The Frenchmen's. I had the Sizzler's which has jalepeno, spicy mayo and chipotle sauce. Pretty tasty burger as you can see I almost didn't get a photo from a bite in the burger. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The onion rings were cooked to ordered extra crispy on the outside and onions well done on the inside which makes each bite a little tart from the ketchup and sweet of the onion. My husband was pretty happy with his mushroom burger. Overall, a good chance to support a local bar and having a good burger. If you want a delicious, greasy, simple burger, this is the spot! Good prices, funny and helpful bartenders and servers, and a simple vibe. Everything is a la carte so no sides with the burgers but them and the sides are cheap enough that it doesn't matter. They always have good parking with a lot connected, outdoor seating when it's nice out, and plenty of indoor seating. The atmosphere is kind of old times, kind of no frills, usually with some eclectic or punk rock music playing depending on who is working. Awesome place for a quick lunch- food comes in about 7 minutes and is always fresh and hot. We got a double specialty burger, a single cheeseburger, a half order of onion rings, a half order of fries, a couple sides of sauces, and a soda and it was $38.
