Stopped into Steve-O's in Crystal and honestly it was pretty mediocre overall. The food wasn't terrible, but definitely not worth the hype or the prices. We seated ourselves and sat for about 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. We eventually had to ask for menus ourselves. The service from a younger female server with tattoos was honestly horrible and inattentive the entire visit. We ordered the teriyaki whole chicken wings and cheese curds. The wings were decent, but paying around $17 plus tax for only 6 wings is pretty steep. The cheese curds were average at best. The atmosphere is your typical dive bar vibe, which is fine, but the slow service and overpriced food made it hard to enjoy the experience. If you're looking for good wings and better service, take my word for it -- Serums in Anoka is 10x better. read more

A friend recommended this place so I wasn't exactly sure about it. Definitely a dive bar which I like. I wanted to bring my dog on their patio and they said that was fine and the patio was pretty quiet which was great because my dog is sort of reactive to people Friendly service they had a parking lot to park in and I got the cheeseburger because there was a glowing review of it in the Star tribune and it was delicious along with the fries that came with it. Cons: They charge nice dinner restaurant prices for their food and some of it like their wraps and cuban are borderline inedible. It's needlessly loud. The restroom often doesn't have working locks. I must admit before starting- I was looking for a dive bar. Some where that had cheap drinks, bomb food and where we wouldn't be rushed out. I found that at Steve-O's! We stopped in on a weekday night with four adults and a baby. We weren't 100% sure a baby would be welcomed but after seeing several highchairs we went with it. Drinks are well priced, and a far cry from the over priced drinks downtown. We all enjoyed our food, from the wings, patty melt (super tummy) which also came with fried, to the mac and cheese (holy crap that was good). Everyone including the baby liked their food. The vibe is exactly what you would expect, a dive where most people seem to know each other. There is seating away from the bar as well, plus typical bar games. Steveo's has all the neighborhood bar vibes. Personally, the only reason I came here the first time was because I was told to get the wings. The menu is large, and they have daily specials, darts, trivia, karaoke, and much more going on. They have two parking lots. One on each side of the building, but you can also park on the street. The staff is friendly. Mario is my favorite server as he is so friendly, helpful, and a good singer. I mostly come here with friends for food or just to have a few drinks. Chicken Wings- pass on the wing sampler. It comes with 12 drummies and flats which are good, but definitely not as good as the whole wings. You choose 3 flavors, choice of dressing, and it comes with celery. The whole wings - My favorites thus far have been the dry rub, buffalo, and garlic parmesan. I have a few I have not tried yet but am definitely looking forward to trying them all. They are juicy, meaty, crispy, and I am obsessed. I have also enjoyed breakfast and various other meals here including the chicken sandwich and the quesadilla. I recently had a Birria taco special and that was fantastic. I've only been a couple times now but feel good saying Steve-O's is a cool spot. You don't really know what to expect walking in; there are no windows, metal doors and a strong locals only vibe. I've had wings, burgers and fish & chips, all of them were delicious. Each time I've gone, I asked the bar tender for a recommendation in wing flavor, favorite burger and whether fish fry was actually good, and they gave great input. There are some decent nightly specials, make sure to check what's popular depending on the day of week. Some cool bonuses...Half the space is dedicated to billiards, darts and a few arcades which is great for a late night stop through. Pull tabs get some action, so there is good play on those boxes. When my fiancé first asked me to go here I was like sure! I love a good bar! Then he told me the place has no windows and was surprised. However! Upon arrival I feel Inlove with the place! Staff was friendly, attentive and provided great service! Our server was Gabby and she was wonderful! It has that small town bar feel that everyone knows everyone. I had THE BEST chicken wild rice soup I've ever had here no feel weird saying that, but it's true! Their chicken wings are GIANT (see pictures) sauces are excellent and taste as good as they smell. Great selection of beer (bottles or on tap). They even have my favorite local cider, loon juice, try it and you'll thank me. The Sweet Thai Chili Wings here are SO FREAKIN' BOMB. I've lived in Crystal for 7 years and never thought once to come to this place until a friend mentioned that their wings are FIRE. The previous reviews are accurate: a lot of locals, it is a bar, and the food was good. Walked in and they were playing hardcore rock, Pantera to be exact, some of the regulars were walking around in their house coats, and others were wearing skull rings. However, everyone was very nice and would carry a conversation. Prices were average. You're looking at approx. $10 min for everything including appetizers. The entries did extend north of $10. While the food was good, the one issue I had was the onion rings came out dark brown. This is usually due to not regularly changing the frying oil- the dirtier the oil, the darker brown the color. Clean oil will give you a very light golden brown color. read more

When I first drove by this place I told myself there's no way I am going in there. It's an old train depot and looks like one of those rough joint bars in midwestern Wisconsin. But, I took a chance on it and it has paid off well. Walking in you get no teaser as to what you're about to face, in fact, there are no windows in this building. Which can be a good or bad thing depending on how much you value your time. The place is made up of four major sections: the bar, the pool tables, the seated tables and booths and the darts/video games. It has a wood cabin feel to it through out and is clean and comfy. You definitely have your regular crew of patrons here who are very nice and welcoming. There are two things that stand out for Steve O's that are unmatched with all the surrounding restaurants and bars: the staff and the food. First of all, the staff are at the top of their game. There are not many who work here, but the ones that do are welcoming, kind, quick and ensure that you are well taken care of. They get to know what you like and how you like it, so returning and getting comfortable isn't a mystery or hassle. Second of all, the food is hands down the best restaurant food in the area. Now granted, the menu isn't large, but from what they do offer, they bring quality and authenticity. The sandwiches are made with homemade bread, top choice meats and fresh toppings; served hot or cold. The soups are homemade by the staff and will take you on a journey to flavor town that will remind you of that time your grandmother last hugged you and you felt safe and secure. Signature soup daily is a Creamy Wild Rice with Chicken of which the world has never known. Other offerings include a variety of hamburgers, sandwiches and pizzas that are equal in quality and freshness. And that my friends is why this place is a solid go-to, the freshness and flavor that comes across in these dishes. You won't find a better value for your dollar in the area. If you're looking for a great breakfast, this is your place as well. They have a stellar breakfast menu and the cooks do an amazing job of keeping it home feeling. I always go for the biscuits and gravy. They offer to-go off the menu as well as Bite Squad ordering. I GPS'd my way there and realized I've driven right past this dive bar a million times. Real talk... it looks like red-neck bar in Coon Rapids that was transplanted to Robbinsdale. LOL Inside and out. Parking was interesting.. there's a lot on both sides of the place, but after work, it was PAAAAACKED! No parking found in the lot. I was lucky enough to find parking on the street, once someone pulled off. When you walk in, it's loud, it's packed, everyone seems to be having a good time. They have pool tables, video games and a few seats. It's very small in there, but packed full of people. The first time I walked into Steve-O's I knew it was my kind of place. It's a dive bar with no windows and mostly regular clientele that features darts and Big Buck Hunter all in one cramped little area. As terrible as it sounds, it's really not. It has a small town vibe that's hard to find and it definitely gets the job done food and drink wise. Everything I've had on the menu has been great and the drinks are always strong. My main complaint about this bar are the attitudes of some of the servers and bartenders. At first I thought I was being dramatic but I asked my friends and they agreed that the servers can be a bit off putting. Luckily, the servers and bartenders are a small part of the overall experience. The staff here are awesome! The wings are ridiculously delicious. However, there is a group of guys that play Golden Tee here and they steal your $2. Not a big deal but they have done it thrice. It's like they have a league (they do). I always leave the $2 in there for them and them using it is fine ...I literally offer it to them. My complaint is that the Alpha dude uses the full $2 to buy extras in the game. He doesn't share. Huge jerk in that sense. THEN, after hogging the freebie he places his beers on MY table like he owns the place. Furthermore, I am clearly in their playing range (I have the best score) and they still don't invite me to join them! Do I have clear Syphillis sores (I cover them up) or am I too ugly to be in their clique? Steve-Os is awesome but these dudes make me feel unwanted.
