We stopped here after a Guthrie performance as there are limited options on a Sunday. Three of us ordered the burgers and they were just okay. Kind of dry. The asparagus soup was good. One ordered the turkey sandwich and said it was good.

This is a small spot across the street from the Guthrie theater. Street parking was pretty easy to find, even within a couple of hours of the show performance. We couldn't get a reservation when we called a few days earlier, and we were lucky enough to get some barstools along the window. The server was very friendly, but drinks and food were quite slow to arrive. It must be very challenging in the kitchen as I'm imagining they probably have like the entire restaurant ordering at almost the same time prior to showtime? But now let's get to the heart of this review. The food I had was excellent. I was absolutely blown away by the daily special: harvest bowl with Delicata squash. Portions are generous, the food is fresh and flavorful. My dish had so many textures and just the right amount of sauce and garnishes and beautiful vegetables...definitely one of my favorite dishes of the year! We each ordered one of the specialty cocktails, which were tied to the themes of the currently running Guthrie shows, very clever. They were all tasty and beautifully presented. I really liked this place a lot, and would definitely come here again. I might actually try to come at a time during the show performances to avoid the rush next time, but I recommend you check their hours carefully because they do close earlier than most places.

I've been to this place twice now and really like my second experience. First time around I went for lunch and liked the food but the ordering at the counter experience was not the best and I think didn't suit the restaurant. This time I went back for dinner and they were full service. The server said they had just transition and it was a much better experience. Food was fantastic. I had the pork belly sandwich and it was tremendous. NA cider was the best I've had and paired well. The person I came with said he was going to eat half his burger but he ate the whole thing it was o good. Loved the space as well which paid homage to the Minnesota farmers where the ingredients come from. Will definitely be back.

Lukewarm and too much foam for latte. But beautiful art.

5 stars for food and service 2 stars for coffee Right next to the Guthrie Center, Farmers Kitchen & Bar uses a number of locally sourced ingredients and it made my harvest bowl feel, well, harvested. Fresh and bright pesto, beautifully cooked grains, veggies and eggs. I really enjoyed the bowl. The cheesecake brownie tasted healthy, so I'll leave you to decide if that's a good or a bad thing for you. They weren't able to heat any of the baked goods. The coffee was meh. Really meh. I ordered the seasonal caramel apple latte. The milk wasn't too foamy to be a latte. The syrup was not locally or made in house. The truly unacceptable piece here was that my hot latte was already lukewarm by the time it reached the table. This is my biggest pet peeve. To charge $6, or any money at all for a hot drink that I can guarantee, sees this problem regularly, isn't ok in my book. Service was wonderful and space is limited, but the vibes are overall cute of the place.

We had reservations before a play. It was great. We were seated on time. We started with drinks and an appetizer. I ordered the beet salad which was amazing. The beets were perfectly marinated and the pecans were wonderful. My husband had a bowl which he enjoyed. We finished with a squash semifreddo with Carmel and walnuts. The food was great with exception of puff pastry from the dessert which was very dry and tasteless. The interior has a cool farm theme which we loved. Every table was full and there wasn't much room to move around which gave it kind of a cozy feel. Our waitress was great. We were checked on by several people as well as our waitress. It was a really good experience.

The food definitely tasted and looked very fresh! I loved the style and look of the restaurant and their offerings. Great staff, very friendly, and all smiles. They looked like they really enjoyed working with each other. It's located downtown near the stone arch bridge, so parking isn't always easy. The brunch menu was small, but that wasn't a big deal. I love that they offered brunch cocktails, that's always a plus. Overall, great experience! - Anthony

We stopped here for a cocktail before seeing a show at the Guthrie. It was a perfect place for that as the theater is right next door and you can enjoy the lights of the theater as you enjoy each other's company. The wine selection for glasses was good. I thought the menu looked good as well and plan on stopping by for a meal in the near future. I liked the cozy feel of the restaurant. It was busy and we were required to be seated by the host, even for just a drink. We sat at the counter in the bar area looking outside.

Food was unbelievable - love how quality the ingredients are and that it's sourced locally from Farmer's Union. Service was great. Parking was actually really easy and convenient. The ambiance was also incredible, especially on Saturday morning despite the crowds. Incredible spot!!

Yummy first experience at Farmers Kitchen. Highly recommend making reservations, it's very busy. You order at the counter and they bring food out, wasn't super clear to us how things work (and felt a bit chaotic and disorganized for others too). Good food, we went for brunch. Highly recommend the scotcheroos. Not super accessible (tight aisles, very crowded). Street or nearby parking ramp options.

Today I went in for their brunch special, served between 11am and 2pm. I had the veggie sandwich. It had a great crunch with its fried bell peppers. This was definitely a well portioned meal. I upgraded it for $3 for a side of wild rice soup, also well rated. I will definitely be back.

Stopped by for breakfast. Very unwelcoming and I was the only customer in the place. Not a good sign.

Terrible counter service. Upcharge for basic items like potatoes. Basic breakfast sandwich was slathered with canned tomato paste and not edible.

I am not sure how I find these outstanding food spots on the first try but.... once again I found myself in an outstanding eatery right out of the gate. My friends and I took a short walk from our downtown hotel (Marquette) and made our way over to the Farmer's Kitchen + Bar for a casual dinner. The staff here is fantastic and Tyler took care of us for the evening. The entire shop has windows and you really get to be part of the residential experience watching all the bicycle riders and dogs walkers here. This was such a comfortable place to sit and relax in. Tyler came over and explained the menu. He took our drink order then upon delivery took our main meal order. After enjoying the cheese board with drinks, our main meal showed up. My burger was nothing less than outstanding. It was just so "fresh" even the lettuce and tomato were delicious along with the brioche bun. It's amazing how you can just taste the fresh. This is the whole principal of Farmers. My wife sliced roast beef on Ciabatta with red, and green peppers along with sliced onion was also excellent. Tender and tasty sliced beef wonderfully dressed. My friend commented that his grilled cheese sandwich was the best he ever had. Wow... This place just rocked it, a fantastic experience. I cannot recommend this place enough times. If your in Minneapolis, it's a must do place. KUDOs to the team at Farmers Kitchen + Bar

Tired from walking and touring the Stone Arch Festival and the Guthrie Theater and the Mill City Ruins... my friends and I wanted to sit down for lunch...so we were happy to find the Farmers Kitchen restaurant! They have both indoor and outdoor seating, but as we were tired from the sun, we opted to sit inside the airconditioned indoor seating with ceiling to floor windows so we got plenty of light. I ordered the Wild Rice Waldorf salad which I loved! The lemon and pepper perfectly complement apples, cherries and wild rice with the baked chicken. My friend ordered the Harvest Bowl which she said was really filling. It did look good with its ample amount of grains, two poached eggs with tomatoes, squash and greens. My other friend was in a breakfast mode and ordered the Sunrise Beef Hash which she said was packed with flavor. It had a combination of white and orange potatoes, tons of vegies and grass -fed beef. LOVE!

The latte came garnished with rose petals and was not too sweet. It was a nice way to start my meal. Then came the sweet potatoes, and oh my God, I think they were the best sweet potatoes I've ever had. They were unbelievably, delectably sweet and cooked perfectly. They had an excellent char while being soft on the inside. And the sweetness was complemented nicely by the maple chili crisp, which had just a bit of a kick. The bison skirt steak tacos were also delicious. The bison was so tender and juicy. Full of flavor and cooked superbly. My server wasn't kidding when she said the tacos were big enough to share between a few people. I ate the tacos by myself, and I was beyond stuffed. Alas, I wasn't a big fan of the spoonbread. The flavor wasn't bad, but I didn't care for the texture, which was a little too coarse for me. The dessert was gluten-free, and I could REALLY tell. It was also too spicy for me. The spoonbread was drenched in hot honey. But the sweet potatoes, tacos, and attentive & friendly service more than made up for it. The restaurant isn't cheap (especially for a solo diner), but I've seen worse prices for worse food. And I'm eager to check out their new location the next time I'm in Minneapolis. We are not wine people, but I'd still recommend doing the wine pairings ,which is an extra add on. It was really fun to learn about the different wines and how they tasted with the plates. There is some down time in-between courses but nothing ever felt too long. It seemed like a perfect time to converse and enjoy watching the chefs do their thing. Every course and every pairing was explained in detail, and the staff clearly knew their craft. Service - they absolutely delivered. We chose The W.C. Whitney Menu. I had the Premium Wine Pairing, which was excellent and very well done. My wife chose the Temperance Pairing since she does not drink alcohol. This was one of the few disappointments of the evening. Many of the drinks were designed to mimic the taste of cocktails and wine, while my wife does not care for the taste of alcoholic drinks. When it came to the food, there was a range. Some dishes were truly outstanding and worthy of Demi's reputation. Some were good but not exactly great. And honestly, a few were mediocre. With a tasting menu, you expect some variation, but at this level and at this price, mediocre does not cut it. Here's what it really comes down to. I would rate the experience itself 5-stars. But the cost of the evening did not come close to matching what was delivered. I was not looking for, or expecting value! We spent over $700 for the evening. Demi is very good. The service is exceptional. The ambiance is awesome. Much of the food is outstanding. But in my opinion, the overall experience did not justify the extremely high cost.

We also appreciated the creativity of the uni spaghetti we were served. They do a no tipping/hospitality included model, which is nice to know what you're getting. But also, a lot was a bit off. Water took 10 minutes to get even when all the waiters were waiting for the kitchen to plate the next course. Cocktails were uninspired, basically just the flavors of the classics but with extra price. Dessert was additional, and honestly I think if you're going to do a prix fixe (which I love), do it as appetizer-main-dessert. Said uni spaghetti was creative, but lacking in balance, especially compared to the pear-nduja bruschetta (lovely) and said duck breast. I walked out feeling not unhappy, but not anywhere near one of my best experiences.
