    Seared Scallops and Cheese Grits
    Debra M.

This is a beautiful restaurant with healthful food options and nutrition info (calories/fat/carbs/protein) under each menu item. We were a part of seven and service was prompt. Our server Jay was delightful and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. Our food came out as it should, apps and salads before mains, and everyone enjoyed their dinner. I had the Seared Scallops on cheese grits (as a Girl Raised In The South - GRITS, lol) I love grits and few restaurants get them right in MN. This one does! The scallops were cooked perfectly and the grits were creamy and thick. Scallions and lardons added a nice flavor. I loved this dish and my *only contrary comment is the popcorn garnish. I loathe popcorn; luckily it was just around the plate so it was easy to push aside. One of the best things about this place is the mini desserts! You can get a flight or order individually and get a perfect couple of bites of a rich dessert for $4. Brilliant. I will definitely return to this lovely spot.

After years of driving past Mill Valley I finally stopped in for brunch! First off the space is beautiful. It is located on the main level of an apartment complex with a decent amount of parking available. The decor kind of looks like a hotel restaurant so it's very modern with bright, neutral colors and nice fixtures. It's actually a very large space with a decent size bar area, dining area, and private dining area but has a cozy feel. Perhaps my favorite thing was BOTTOMLESS MIMOSAS!!! This is the way brunch should be! For my meal I got a kimchi breakfast bowl. It was good but didn't really wow me. The flavors were good but didn't have the punch I expected. My partner got the Benedict and that was delicious. Our bartender was absolutely fantastic. We ended up hanging out, drinking mimosas all the way up until brunch was over and she was done with her shift. Super friendly. The relief bartender was equally as awesome and we ended up hanging out and splitting a burger and some wings The burger was just okay. Honestly not good enough to get again. Overall the food was decent but will have me coming back to explore more of the menu. Based on food alone this would be a 3 star but because of the exceptional service it's a 4. @danny_runsforbeer

Grilled Chicken Wings - Korean Dry Rub

Was recommended by a friend to try Mill Valley Kitchen and it did not disappoint! We ordered the edamame with lemon + sea salt and the lemon on it provided a nice freshness and acidity! We also got the grilled chicken wings with the Korean dry rub. These were some of the best chicken wings I've had as they weren't too spicy, and tasted like they were taken right off the grill. The Peach, Ricotta, Prosciutto Flatbread was another fan favorite as the sweetness of the peach paired well with the salty prosciutto. We were seated on the patio which faces near the road so was a little disturbed at times by the noise of cars and motorcycles going by. There is a wide space for indoor seating as well.

Met a couple of friends here for drinks and dinner. The entrance is hidden in an apartment building and next to a physical therapy clinic which i found interesting. We had reservations so got seated and started with a couple of beverages. Ordered the old fashioned and found it to be very sweet. Asked the server to help out with my next choice and he recommended the Dill Caipirinha, which was more my speed. Also had their Night Club and the Summer Passion (which the server recommended I ask for less sweet) and they were both pretty good. We ordered some wings for appetizers and we all had the miso seabass for our entree. The wings were flavorful and crispy. I enjoyed that with a good mix of spice and flavor. The sea bass I wasn't as impressed with. It was good. But the quinoa was a little bland and the cucumbers could have had flavor. Overall a good piece of fish but I wish the accompaniments were more flavorful. We ended the evening with the dessert trio (we chose Maple Panna Cotta, Key Lime and Triple Chocolate) and I had the Graham's 20 yr old port. The desserts were quite good and the port was also very good and a very nice end to the evening. I didn't dislike the place and would come again to try some of the other dishes. But will skip the sea bass.

    Crème brûlée and mini trio

My partner and I came here for an early Valentine's Day celebration and IM OBSESSED. I love how every dish had a unique twist that made it special. The curried cauliflower and Parmesan broccoli sides were to die for. We also had multiple desserts (loved the maple panna cotta with volcanic salt and the crème brûlée). A couple things got missed by the wait staff here and there but they were happy to correct mistakes and they are all very kind. We'll definitely be back!

This restaurant has so much greenery. It's beautiful. I love that the menu shows the calories of the food items. It seems a healthy and tasty . We ordered the beet lentil burger, quinoa blueberry pancakes, fingerling potatoes, waguy burger, salmon salad. It was all very delicious. The crowd that goes here is a bit older , I think it's probably attached to a community.

Tried this for a girls dinner and it was good! We made a reservation which I'm glad we did as it was packed. Got seated right away in the restaurant upon arrival but parking was a hot mess - give yourself time to find a spot as it's a shared lot with other businesses and an apartment complex. Food was good but nothing to write home about. We started with the crab cake appetizer which was nice - good mix of flavors with citrus, spicy and a side salad. For dinner we shared a variety of things. The miso sea bass was the winner by far! Steak was nice but sides (polenta, eggplant) were nothing special and not great. We also got the squash salad with salmon. It was just okay - the squash was cold which ruined it for me although the salmon was warm. Service was a bit slow but I think because our server was letting us chat and catch up ha! Would recommend a visit - healthy options and a nice spot overall.

The food was so fresh tasting and flavorful! Restaurant itself is very nice looking, staff was friendly, and server was good. Great options and will definitely make a return. - Anthony

    Shrimp taco

I love this place. I just discovered it recently and they have a very cute cozy bar to fit that and a really good happy hour. The bartender is friendly. The food is delicious. I really liked the shrimp taco and the mussels they give you a lot of mussels and I shared it with a girlfriend and we couldn't even finish the whole bowl.

Overall, ok but not great. Hadn't eaten here in years and was excited to try it again. We tried the salmon and the sea bass. Alone, the fish were seasoned properly and delicious. What made the taste just ok were the accoutrements. Both were a little off. The quinoa/slaw veggies either the sea bass were either tasteless or super salty (where drenched in miso). The salmon came with a strange, purplish radish that just tasted off. Service was a bit awkward and our server didn't know a lot about the dishes themselves, shared he hadn't eaten the salmon before. Also an annoyance us we made our reservations thru open table, checked in, yet they canceled our open table reservation. Ambience was quiet for a Saturday evening. Overall, hits and misses making it just an okay experience.

Martina is an ace with its bold flavored Argentinian cuisine and relaxing atmosphere. We dined on the patio, but whether you are seated inside or out, the ambiance is adorned with green plants, natural wood, and clean lines for a modern aesthetic that pleases today's diner. The food was a pleasure. The secret to the bold flavors is in the sauce. We started with an order of the grilled bread and a dozen oysters. I'll never say no to raw oysters (even on some occasions when I should have), but these were a great experience. The vinegar sauce served with these was a unique version that when paired with a dash of the shredded horseradish and a squeeze of lemon juice, the oysters were a punch of zingy perfection. The salted, vinegar infused butter that came with the bread elevated the dish. I chose the halibut for my entree and it was lovely (halibut is a win in any format). However, I would highly recommend the ribeye. My son got that and I sampled a piece with the accompanying chimichuri sauce and it was heavenly. The oils chosen to create that sauce were very well thought out so it made for not-your-typical ribeye and lent itself to something flavorfully unique. We want to return! Putting this on our list of faves when in Minneapolis/St Paul.

We usually come with extended family and this is one place that has a big enough tank for 12. We were celebrating a birthday so ordered too much food for our group of 7. We also arrived early enough for dimsum. We ordered: Dimsum: Steamed Shrimp Rice Noodle Rolls Shrimp & Chive Pancakes Steamed Soup Dumplings Steamed BBQ Pork Buns Sesame Balls Pan fried Shrimp Dumplings in Crispy Tofu Skin Steamed Pork & Shrimp Dumplings Siumai Shrimp Dumplings Ha Gao Baked BBQ Pork Char Siu Buns Peking Duck 2 Ways Yangzou Fried Rice Typhoon Shelter Fish Seafood Stir Fried Cantonese Noodles Salt & Pepper Octopus Szechuan-style Dry-Fried String Beans We havent found amazing dimsum in the Twin Cities but Jade Dynasty's dimsum is okay when you need a fix, which goes for all their options. They have a laminated menu and you mark what you want with a pen. The Peking Duck was good but really haven't had much to compare it with in the cities. Our favorite is the Typhoon Shelter fish - the crispy garlic is so good and it's our must order. The rest of the non-dimsum food we ordered taste authentically Cantonese and better than other Chinese restaurants around that we've tried.

The space is fairly clean, modern, and brightly lit during the day. My partner had the Nankin Wanderer's Punch which was sweet and fruity. I had the Long Island Limoncello which was good, but a little bland. We shared the rest of the meal. Steamed Bbq Pork Buns were delicious. Highly recommend. Steamed Soup Dumplings were very hot so I recommend letting them sit for a few minutes. Once they were cool enough to eat they were very good. Sesame Chicken-this is a dish I often use as a benchmark, and it was excellent. The chicken was crispy and the sauce was very good. Eggplant in Garlic Sauce was also delicious. Beef Brisket Stewed Clay Pot was disappointing. First off it was not in a clay pot. Why call it clay pot when you could call it a hot pot. When it is brought to your table it is fully cooked, and the pot is placed over a small gas stove so it continues to cook while at your table. Even though we let it stew for quite a while the beef was very tough and very chewy. Even though we ordered appetizers a good 10-15 minutes before the entrees, all of the food came out at the same time. Food was delivered fairly quickly, servers were ok.

They did mess up my order ( I ordered House Mix with Medium spice but got Garlic Butter with Mild spice), but it didn't change the fact I enjoyed my meal thoroughly. Also, their corn was great. I'm usually a fan of seafood boils that have a thicker sauce consistency (like King Cajun), so if you're the same, you might want to skip. Their sauce is a bit on the more liquid side. Nightingale was packed, but fortunately, once two patrons saw my face from the bar, they quickly paid their bill and left. My face often compels people to vacate crowded establishments in Minneapolis, and we often find seats. After grabbing the two seats, we ordered wine and a wonderful Amaro-based cocktail. Jules was our bartender/server, and although he was crazy busy, he found time to be gracious to us. We ordered the meatball appetizer, halibut, and the Nightingale hamburger. My halibut was sublime, cooked perfectly, and it wasn't drowned in sauce. Bravo! The meatballs were tender and delicious, but the hamburger was not memorable. It was good, not great. Despite all the accolades above, when the bill came, I was charged two dollars after requesting a cucumber slice for my Pimms Cup. Perhaps the source of this pettiness came from the kitchen, but it wasn't smart, because the $2.00 charge placed a shroud over my experience. The bill was $125, and because of the petty two-buck charge, I only left a $25 tip. I was going to leave a $30 tip. I will sadly remember those 2 bucks forever. It was a myopic move and a passive-aggressive way to handle my request. In my birthplace home of NYC, a bartender would have said, "Getting a cucumber slice is a pain in the rear, would you mind skipping it?" My response, "Sure, it's not a big deal."
