The kimchi rice chicken was honestly terrible. The chicken didn't taste freshly cooked--it had that distinct taste and smell of leftover chicken from the day before, which was a big turnoff for me. That said, the falafel wrap was surprisingly good! The server was very nice, and I really liked the ambiance of the restaurant. I also appreciate that they list the calories and macros on the menu--it's a great touch and makes it much easier to know what you're ordering. read more

Went for brunch as had a gift card I needed to use First off this place is way overpriced for the quality of food and service it's supposed to be a "healthier" style restaurant but fell flat for me They have bottomless mimosas, 3 different flavors classic OJ,grapefruit and pineapple First off the menu states it's cheaper than it is $14 but the server told us ahead of time that was a mistake- with inflation the price has gone up to $18 but I don't think it was worth it - also they didn't taste good at all and not served in flutes either more like a water glass Huervos rancheros- this actually was tasty and a good size portion but over priced and then I tasted it the whole weekend so it didn't sit right- I think it was the chorizo Husband tried the chicken wrap - he said it was good but it comes with a side salad no other choices like chips etc so lots of salad in the wrap and on the plate We also shared the homemade biscuits - thinking we would get more than one- that was a little arkward and overpriced having to share just one with some runny jam? The interior is very inviting and they have a small bar- not many menu items tickle my fancy - would prob stop by the bar for HH or their patio if in the area but pass on the food read more

I love the ambiance of this restaurant. The restaurant decor is lovely and clearly well maintained! I stopped in Mill Valley Kitchen for brunch, and I had hoped for more on the menu. For instance, most meals come with a breakfast salad or their roasted red potatoes - no hash browns or fries. I had a breakfast burrito, which was a decent portion, but the pairing with a salad was such a disappointment. read more

This is a beautiful restaurant with healthful food options and nutrition info (calories/fat/carbs/protein) under each menu item. We were a part of seven and service was prompt. Our server Jay was delightful and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. Our food came out as it should, apps and salads before mains, and everyone enjoyed their dinner. I had the Seared Scallops on cheese grits (as a Girl Raised In The South - GRITS, lol) I love grits and few restaurants get them right in MN. This one does! The scallops were cooked perfectly and the grits were creamy and thick. Scallions and lardons added a nice flavor. I loved this dish and my *only contrary comment is the popcorn garnish. I loathe popcorn; luckily it was just around the plate so it was easy to push aside. One of the best things about this place is the mini desserts! You can get a flight or order individually and get a perfect couple of bites of a rich dessert for $4. Brilliant. I will definitely return to this lovely spot. read more

After years of driving past Mill Valley I finally stopped in for brunch! First off the space is beautiful. It is located on the main level of an apartment complex with a decent amount of parking available. The decor kind of looks like a hotel restaurant so it's very modern with bright, neutral colors and nice fixtures. It's actually a very large space with a decent size bar area, dining area, and private dining area but has a cozy feel. Perhaps my favorite thing was BOTTOMLESS MIMOSAS!!! This is the way brunch should be! For my meal I got a kimchi breakfast bowl. It was good but didn't really wow me. The flavors were good but didn't have the punch I expected. My partner got the Benedict and that was delicious. Our bartender was absolutely fantastic. We ended up hanging out, drinking mimosas all the way up until brunch was over and she was done with her shift. Super friendly. The relief bartender was equally as awesome and we ended up hanging out and splitting a burger and some wings The burger was just okay. Honestly not good enough to get again. Overall the food was decent but will have me coming back to explore more of the menu. Based on food alone this would be a 3 star but because of the exceptional service it's a 4. @danny_runsforbeer read more

We made reservations for Friday at 6pm- super easy but not totally needed as the main portion of the restaurant wasn't full. They do happy hour until 6pm but only in the bar and on the patio. I arrived a little early and was hoping to grab a HH drink but no luck. The menu is pretty unique and I highly recommend checking it out before you visit. There was only one or two things that caught my attention that night and I ultimately went with the smash burger for $19. All of the handheld options come with a side salad, I paid $3 to upgrade to roasted potatoes- it was the right move. I wish I would've been asked how I wanted my burger- maybe I missed it on the menu but mine was pretty rare, and not my go to. Waitress was friendly and attentive. She stopped by several times to refill our water and ask if we needed anything. The vibes are a little hard to figure out- I wasn't sure what used to be here or how long Mill Valley has been in this location but it was a decent choice for dinner with a friend. I'm not jumping to come back but I wouldn't say no if invited. read more

Was recommended by a friend to try Mill Valley Kitchen and it did not disappoint! We ordered the edamame with lemon + sea salt and the lemon on it provided a nice freshness and acidity! We also got the grilled chicken wings with the Korean dry rub. These were some of the best chicken wings I've had as they weren't too spicy, and tasted like they were taken right off the grill. The Peach, Ricotta, Prosciutto Flatbread was another fan favorite as the sweetness of the peach paired well with the salty prosciutto. We were seated on the patio which faces near the road so was a little disturbed at times by the noise of cars and motorcycles going by. There is a wide space for indoor seating as well. read more

Met a couple of friends here for drinks and dinner. The entrance is hidden in an apartment building and next to a physical therapy clinic which i found interesting. We had reservations so got seated and started with a couple of beverages. Ordered the old fashioned and found it to be very sweet. Asked the server to help out with my next choice and he recommended the Dill Caipirinha, which was more my speed. Also had their Night Club and the Summer Passion (which the server recommended I ask for less sweet) and they were both pretty good. We ordered some wings for appetizers and we all had the miso seabass for our entree. The wings were flavorful and crispy. I enjoyed that with a good mix of spice and flavor. The sea bass I wasn't as impressed with. It was good. But the quinoa was a little bland and the cucumbers could have had flavor. Overall a good piece of fish but I wish the accompaniments were more flavorful. We ended the evening with the dessert trio (we chose Maple Panna Cotta, Key Lime and Triple Chocolate) and I had the Graham's 20 yr old port. The desserts were quite good and the port was also very good and a very nice end to the evening. I didn't dislike the place and would come again to try some of the other dishes. But will skip the sea bass. read more

If you look at my reviews, you'll see that I only write about places I enjoy (no bad karma into the Yelp universe from me...) and places I would want to visit again. MIll Valley Kitchen has an absolutely fabulous and generous happy hour. I love happy hours (the luxury of leaving work early, and getting a menu deal!) and Mill Valley Kitchen is such a fun experience. Great apps, happy hour drinks, really a totally good party time. The staff is always fun, parking is easy (free lot in the back), and the place is beautiful! (And somehow the lighting makes everyone look good! We were seated outside. Server brought my friend's ice tea. 15-20 minutes comes and ask if there is anything we needed? We ordered. I had the kimchi fried rice. Rice was not thoroughly cooked. Yum yum sauce was a drizzle. I guess when it said chicken drum they literally meant one drum meat. Didn't offer to take meal off or discounted. She didn't come back until we were done with our meal to ask how everything was. My friend was needing a refill. The ice had melted that's how long we were waiting around. My partner and I came here for an early Valentine's Day celebration and IM OBSESSED. I love how every dish had a unique twist that made it special. The curried cauliflower and Parmesan broccoli sides were to die for. We also had multiple desserts (loved the maple panna cotta with volcanic salt and the crème brûlée). A couple things got missed by the wait staff here and there but they were happy to correct mistakes and they are all very kind. We'll definitely be back! read more

Tried this for a girls dinner and it was good! We made a reservation which I'm glad we did as it was packed. Got seated right away in the restaurant upon arrival but parking was a hot mess - give yourself time to find a spot as it's a shared lot with other businesses and an apartment complex. Food was good but nothing to write home about. We started with the crab cake appetizer which was nice - good mix of flavors with citrus, spicy and a side salad. For dinner we shared a variety of things. The miso sea bass was the winner by far! Steak was nice but sides (polenta, eggplant) were nothing special and not great. We also got the squash salad with salmon. It was just okay - the squash was cold which ruined it for me although the salmon was warm. Service was a bit slow but I think because our server was letting us chat and catch up ha! Would recommend a visit - healthy options and a nice spot overall. read more

Lovely spot for lunch. Friendly, fast service. The place settings and textiles were high quality, including pottery bread plates and towels in the bathrooms. The flatbreads were delicious all around with a nice "crunchewy" sourdough crust. The peach+prosciutto combo was a delicious surprise. The salmon burger and ranch wagyu smashburger were very good. So it appears they have an amazing happy hour, and the place was packed, but we walked in the door and Peter took good care of us finding us a table we were comfortable with outside. Our reservations were for six, but we got there 15 minutes early and just made the happy hour muscles. They were amazing and I would recommend them either for happy hour or as an entrée even if it is after happy hour. Also ordered the mango spring rolls, which were delicious. Noah took great care of us giving us good suggestions and keeping us up-to-date on how things are going in the kitchen. We found our guests in the bar and brought them back to our table. Sharing our starters that we had ordered. I recommend the steak salad, our friends had Bison burger, roasted mushroom flatbread, and my husband had some seafood soup I believe look delicious. Everybody was very happy with our meal and of course we'll come back. Actually thinking about it today we might have to make another reservation or I might have to find a friend for happy hour!? Thanks, Noah and Peter read more

I recently went for brunch and had a great experience. We went around 12:30 and it was pretty quiet so it felt cozy and the servers were attentive and quick. I ordered the breakfast burrito and loved it! The flavors were great and it was very filling. I also got the spa day drink which was yummy. Everything is definitely a bit on the higher side for price but it seems that their food is local and organic so that makes up for it. I would definitely recommend! I'm hoping to come back for dinner soon read more

First visit to Mill Valley Kitchen. Really enjoyed the pizza and wings. Went there for appetizers and were not disappointed. The crust for the pizza was perfect and the variety of toppings was great. My friend had a pizza with nothing but vegetables, but still flavorable. My wings were great, tender, flavorful, and left me wanting more. The dessert selection was also good. The wait staff was friendly, made suggestions, and made our dining experience very enjoyable. The restaurant was great in that the noise level was not too loud, the other guests enjoying themselves and beautifully decorated. A recent appearance on the WCCO Morning Program is what piqued my interest; I'm glad I followed through and checked them out. I'll definitely be visiting again. read more

I love this place. I just discovered it recently and they have a very cute cozy bar to fit that and a really good happy hour. The bartender is friendly. The food is delicious. Mill Valley has a nice ambiance - white walls, an open kitchen, big windows with lots of light coming on off of the street. I have been here a couple of times and notice it feels more like it is in California near a vineyard or something, rather than in sleepy MN. The food is meh. It is good, but not great. We had the spicy Korean wings, the charred cauliflower, and the orecchiette with sausage and spinach. I have no complaints about the food, it just was average, not memorable. The service was ok, but I think they were short-staffed, so everything took a long, long time. Credit to our server for staying calm and friendly. It just was a letdown to have to give up waiting for our server to pay and then just hang around the host stand and flag someone down to pay our bill. read more

Overall, ok but not great. Hadn't eaten here in years and was excited to try it again. We tried the salmon and the sea bass. Alone, the fish were seasoned properly and delicious. What made the taste just ok were the accoutrements. Both were a little off. The quinoa/slaw veggies either the sea bass were either tasteless or super salty (where drenched in miso). The salmon came with a strange, purplish radish that just tasted off. Service was a bit awkward and our server didn't know a lot about the dishes themselves, shared he hadn't eaten the salmon before. Also an annoyance us we made our reservations thru open table, checked in, yet they canceled our open table reservation. Ambience was quiet for a Saturday evening. Overall, hits and misses making it just an okay experience. read more

Mill Valley looked like a good place to have celebratory drinks with a few coworkers. We sat outside on a nice day, but it's right on the street and can be noisy and distracting. Perfect location for a Girls Brunch party of 10! The seating area is picture perfect with bright sunshine from all around, with contemporary casual design. Some of us were dressed in our "Sunday Best" and some were in "athleisure" attire and we all felt like we fit in. We had a 10:30am reservation on a Sunday. They were not too busy and our server was very attentive and consistently filled our bottomless Mimosas. Here's what we ordered: -Brown Rice Bowl (4/5) delicious and flavorful, but a few of my friends thought the rice and chicken were too salty. My broccoli was raw, and some of the others' broccoli was grilled. I would definitely order again. -Eggs Benedict (4/5). Many of us ordered different versions of their Eggs Benedict. Eggs were poached perfectly and the side salads were fresh. -Bottomless Mimosa for $14 (5/5) -Mini Dessert Trio (5/5) LOVED tasting the mini versions of each dessert. It was nice that the printed menus included detailed nutritional info. However, I had a hard time viewing the online menu from my phone because of this valet parking ad that would block my view of the menu after a few seconds. read more

It's probably one of contemporary American restaurants with the healthiest choices in town. I have been here twice after a long bike ride and a long hike. You would be feeling so satisfied even you might be craving greasy food before you walk in. The cooking style is simple and authentic but with a fusion twist. I love my Umami bowl. It's a Spelt noodle soup with mushrooms and green bean sprouts with Asian spices. A little spicy but very hearty. The bison burger doesn't disappoint. It's a mix of beef and bison. The savory salad and homemade bun that came with the bison burger blew us away. The steamed mussels didn't come with bread, which is a bit unusual. I also had Day Spa, a cucumber ginger juice. Very healthy and delicious! read more

We were there on a Wednesday night. The restaurant was not very busy. The server was slow to great us with anything. We sat long enough to discuss leaving. When she finally arrived she greeted us and took our order. She finally came and checked on us when I was almost finished with my meal. She never even brought us silverware. We asked another server to help us out. The whole experience seemed off. The food was good. It didn't blow us away. The beer list was not exciting or fun. I would not go back. The only thing good about our experience was the hostess was very chatty and charming. If the server had been anything like her our experience would have been different for sure. I would skip this location and head down the street to Hazelwood. Sorry Mill Valley Kitchen we gave you a chance and it wasn't worth it. read more

I came here with my Mom, at her suggestion, which was surprising because looking at the menu it looked like it might be kind of challenging for her! At least that's what I thought at first... when we arrived, it seemed we both found ourselves curious about many of our options and had trouble deciding. I went with the steak sandwich and it was probably the best steak sandwich I have ever had! The balance of flavors between the meat and the horseradish sauce, plus the fresh-baked bun, it was so good that I was sad that it was over. Fortunately there was a flourless chocolate torte on its way to make me feel better. My mom got a ham/fig/bleu cheese flatbread which she loved. The dining room is large and very, very nicely decorated, and our service was really fast and friendly. This seems like a place where if you brought someone here, they would think you are very tasteful. I can easily recommend this restaurant! read more

Mill Valley Kitchen is a nice spot to grab a healthy, somewhat fancy dinner without it feeling super pretentious. There was something about the vibe-- it was classy without feeling like you need to show up in cocktail attire. Ok, let's about talk about this seabass. SO buttery and flavor-packed. For the first time was disappointed. Apparently they have a new menu starting today. No more filets. No more scallops. We ordered the mussels appetizer, the steak they did have which was cooked and tough. And the shrimp tacos, which were good, but largely overpriced. If you've never been here, you're missing out. Mill Valley Kitchen combines an absolutely beautiful space with excellent drinks and an exquisite dining experience. I started with the mushroom tart, which definitely made me do a little happy dance. There were several varieties of mushrooms that were all cooked perfectly. There were a few beautifully browned bits that provided some Maillard magic. This plus the Gruyère and perfect crust gave each bite a lovely salty umami. The grilled scallion mustard was an absolutely beautiful companion that perfectly bridged the tart and its accompanying salad of mushrooms and frisée. The salad's simplicity allows you to appreciate not only the individual flavors and textures but also the taste of the ingredients in the dressing. I also snagged a bite of my mom's salad--the watermelon and tomato. It's early, but I'm calling it--this may be the salad of the decade right here. Lush watermelon (sweet, dense, red, and exactly how watermelon is when you dream of it), gorgeous heirloom tomatoes (sliced thin enough to feel almost like a vegetable carpaccio), pickled rind that had bite from chilis and depth from allspice(? clove?), a lovely bath of feta dressing and basil oil, and a tasty sprinkling of pistachios. This salad is the kind that makes you happy to eat it but kind of sad to know that you could never create it. For my main, I enjoyed the special vegan entree, a Jamaican Jerk Jackfruit. If you haven't tried it, jackfruit is a fascinating meat substitute. It's texture is reminiscent of pot roast, but it absorbs the flavors of its preparation. This dish is GOOD, y'all. The coconut creamed corn is easily the best corn I have had in my life, and when you get a bite with everything on it--the jackfruit, the corn, the crispy plantain, and a piece of the micro cilantro--you will have a moment of joy. You will. The textures and flavors come together to make a smile. I don't usually like dessert, but after a meal this stellar, I had to look at the dessert menu. You guys, they have micro desserts! They come in shot glasses, so it isn't too much, and they're delicious. I got the tiramisu, which was exactly what I have always wanted tiramisu to be (but usually found that it wasn't). This tiramisu is rich and creamy, and it has a gorgeous layer of soaked ladyfinger. The sweet, the creamy, the slight bitterness, and the crunch of nuts made for the perfect end to a beautiful meal. We had excellent service across the board as well. We all loved Tiana, so if you're making a reservation, see if you can be seated in her section! read more

I think this place doesn't get talked about enough in our city. It truly has the space to host three times the people I saw there at the time of my visit. I saw a full bar, dinning room, and full patio area. I went in the middle of the week, it was a delightful experience. It wasn't packed, it felt intimate, and the weather was beautiful as I sat on the patio. Food was pleasant. Staff were personable and friendly. I felt I could have sat and talked with staff all evening. The menu has a lot of great offerings, I have to come back and try more things. Like I mentioned before, I'd like to see what it's like on the weekend for this spot. Parking lot is in the back of the establishment facing Excelsior BLVD. Mill Valley Kitchen. What I liked most about MVK is that they include nutritional information on the menus which breaks up every dish into calories, fat, carbohydrates, protein, and fiber. I was pretty disappointed with Milk Valley Kitchen, to be honest. We easily got a reservation for Saturday night and were even able to sit early (since it was anything but busy). We got our drinks then ordered appetizers but our appetizers took over 45 minutes to arrive. Since we waited so long, we put our dinner order in, but our dinner arrived just as we were finishing our apps. Since the apps took so long, they sent us a free dessert. We weren't thrilled with the choices so we picked the Milk and cookies. They warmed up the cookies but that also meant they were burnt and hard, not fresh baked and gooey. The food was all good, but the subpar service and expensive prices definitely were not worth it! read more

Mill Valley Kitchen now adds a credit card fee to every bill paid with a credit card. The restaurant knows that, in our major metropolitan area, nearly every check is paid with a credit card. The fee, therefore, is an inappropriate profit grab. When I complained about the fee, the restaurant manager became quite combative. I thought Mill Valley Kitchen was a sophisticated, urbane restaurant. I don't think that any more. read more

OVERALL: Flavorful food, lots of options for gluten-free folks! FOOD: we weren't the hungriest when we arrived but I'm so glad we ordered these mussels. They were a hefty portion and and full of flavor. With added chorizo and the green pozole broth, it added lots of depth. I wish they had provided a piece of toast or even a spoon so it was easier to drink the broth with the mussels. The bowl was also a bit small to actually contain the broth and it was very messy. The dessert even being gluten free was so good and also you wouldn't have even known it was gluten free! DRINKS: Both were fruity and flavorful. The Times was basically a twist on an aperol spritz. PRICE: $15 for the mussels and the drinks were $13. Other entrees varied from $20-$30. I did see that they offer happy hour though so I'll have to come back for that! But no "low-priced" options for entrees. I recommend just getting a few starters. SERVICE: really the only reason why this was a 4 star review. Felt really neglected by our waitress even when it slowed down. Wish she was more attentive. (Empty glasses of water that needs refilling, silverware, ordering other rounds of food/drinks) ATMOSPHERE: we sat on the patio and it was really spaced out and nice! read more
