We came here for our anniversary and left amazed by how good the food and drinks were. We started with the potato churros which tasted like a mixture of the best mashed potatoes and fresh fries I've had. The empanadas were good, but I was hoping they were less cheesy and more creamy. The chimichurri adds to the flavor. All our drinks were delicious and I recommend the old fashioned. For the entrees the Tagliatelle with Oxtail and Rigatoni with Oyster Mushrooms both had exquisite sauces. I don't think I could have asked for anything different. I am usually let down by pasta and this did not disappoint. Our server was attentive and welcoming, the table was plated and organized, and we had a nice few other the kitchen and got to see all the meals being plated. We went to Martina for brunch and oh my gosh -- the food was excellent. Everything we ordered tasted phenomenal. Unfortunately I didn't take pictures of some of the other dishes we tried, but honestly every single thing was delicious. We arrived a little early for our reservation and they were still able to get us seated right away. The staff was friendly, the drinks were excellent, and the overall experience was great. I think I found my new fav spot. Sad that it is 5.5 hours from my home so will def have to make a trip put to Minneapolis again just for Martina. We got some delicious pasta, potato churros, and dessert. It was the best dessert I've ever had and I've had desserts all over the world. The pan queue! It was a crepe with dulcet de Leche, bananas, crystallized sugar, and some type of cream on top. Everything was so good and it being my first time in Minneapolis, had no idea there were such good restaurants here. We returned to Martina after a long absence. There was no logical reason for our absence. Maybe parking fears or an aversion to the Linden Hills Waspy and Patrician demographic caused us to hesitate. At 5:30 on a Thursday, the lovely bar was almost empty, and we grabbed two of the uncomfortable stools. It's hard to find fault with any of the Del Prado establishments. Martina might have been his first, and it's aging gracefully. Bex was our server, and he was friendly, conversing with us readily. You don't always experience that in Minneapolis. After relaxing with a cocktail and glass of wine, we ordered the empanadas, the Cacio e Pepe ravioli, and the Wagyu Zabuton. Zabuton sounds like a medical device, but it's a chuck steak that is very tender. Everything tasted fantastic, with the Cacio e Pepe a member of the Hall of Fame. Came back for brunch because I heard all about the potato churros! We sat right by the kitchen so we saw all the food coming out which was good and bad for decision making. Every time something different came out, that is what we wanted. We got the Smoke Salmon and Burrata, Crab Benedict, Almond Flour Pancakes, Bacon and Eggs and a side of Potato Churros. Potato churros are a MUST, the inside is so soft and delicious while the outside is so crispy. The crab benedict was crab cakes, so it did feel pretty heavy but it was so tasty and filling. The bacon and eggs came with a pork belly instead of traditional bacon and that was also amazing, the flavor of the pork belly was addicting. The pancakes were so soft and tasty as well. I'd had the ox tongue and octopus here before, and I'm happy to report they're still absolutely amazing. The octopus was perfectly tender, and the ox tongue bruschetta? My family and I came here for dinner on a Friday night. Parking was difficult to find since the lot was completely full so I parked about 2-3 blocks away - make sure you make time to find parking because there's also no valet. Service here is below-average for what it is but the food makes up for it. They have an open kitchen concept, which I like, however, I feel like the seats by the kitchen are a tad too close. I always felt like servers were constantly brushing up against my back. The Hamachi Crudo was very refreshing and delicious - I would recommend! We also had the Charred Brussels Sprout Salad which was also enjoyable. My favorite item, however, were the Steamed Mussels. The portion was fairly large and came with 4 pieces of bread. For pasta, we did the Mushroom Rigatoni which was so delicious! I loved the umami flavor you get from the mushrooms and the sauce was perfect. We also got the Octopus and the Pork Chop. The Pork Chop was really good and I highly recommend this. The Octopus on the other hand was such a disappointment. It was SO salty and the squid ink mayo didn't add much to the dish. Again, SUPER salty and we tried to flag down our server but service was lacking so we didn't get a chance to say anything about the Octopus. We closed our meal off with the Caramel Flan. Visited 3/23/25. First brunch at Martina and everything was really solid. Of course it's Martina so prices are always going to feel a bit steeper than I would prefer, especially for a brunch, but the ingredients they use are incredibly fresh and I can't complain about that. Martina does have a parking lot but by the time I got there at 11am it was full so give yourself time for street parking just in case. I didn't get a drink but a few of my friends got an iced oat milk latte, a latte, and black coffee. They also had options for different cocktails as well. To eat I got the eggs and bacon, my friend got the pancakes, and my other two friends got the seasonal omelets. Everything had great flavor and the potato churros that accompanied my dish were standouts (as per usual). It was pretty busy, which kind of felt that it impacted ability for servers to check in throughout but our server was still kind throughout. I definitely would've loved a quick check in to get like hot sauce or additional sauces offered because the mustard that came with mine was good but I would've loved even just a bit of tapatio or even ketchup for the churros. Got a bite of my friend's pancakes and they were delightful-we later discussed how we should've shared our respective plates for the perfect mix of savory and sweet. The food and the service were both outstanding. Despite not having a reservation for Mother's Day brunch, we were quickly seated at the outdoor patio. We shared the grilled Brussels sprout salad. I'm not usually a fan of Brussels sprouts, but this was amazing and I had seconds. My daughter ordered the leek empanadas, my son-in-law the lobster toast, eldest grandson the avocado toast, youngest grandson the Martina burger, while I had the seasonal omelette. My omelette was filled with sun dried tomatoes, asparagus, spinach and more and was absolutely delicious. I had a taste of the lobster which was also superb. For apps we had many but some of my favorites were cinnamon fried calamari, steamed mussels and seared scallops. They were all amazing and def recommend. From the moment you walk in, Martina radiates elegance. We started with the hamachi crudo and the calamari upon recommendation from the waitress. The hamachi was outstanding with passionfruit, habanero sauce. The calamari was delish, crunchy and lightly cinnamon flavored. I was the most impressed with my main, the halibut. Parking is a challenge, but we really love the ambience of Martina's and the open kitchen. Service by Julia was very good. She was friendly, attentive, and exceptionally helpful. The only issue we really had was that our appetizers came and we were almost through with them before the cocktails we had ordered first, showed up. The empanadas are an exceptional starter, and I highly recommend them. They are paired with a delicious and very fresh chimichurri sauce. The grilled bread is also very good, but I thought a bit ridiculous to charge eight dollars for bread. We also had the grilled beef tongue starter, which was honestly disappointing. It just didn't taste like tongue to me. For entrées, I highly recommend the Mafaldine pasta - unique and delicious. The linguine with clams was also very good and my wife definitely recommended it. The pork chop was good but again I thought for $42 it should've been exceptional. I probably wouldn't order it again. For dessert, we tried the black velvet cake and unfortunately, it really wasn't that much to our liking. read more

The menu has evolved over the years, though it remains pretty approachable for most diners. The highlight of a recent visit was the halibut, scallops and the always excellent potato churros. The main dining room has high ceiling which could make the acoustics a bit noisy. Still, it had a good vibe. We ordered the one pound steamed mussels with country bread. I highly recommend this dish! The sauce was made with sea urchin which added great umami, lime, white wine, garlic and red peppers for a nice kick. The country bread was perfectly charred and went nicely with the broth. The broth was so flavorful that after we finished mopping the bread with it, my partner drank it! If you like mussels, I highly recommend this dish! The second dish was the potato gnocchi and that was simple and delicious. Service was excellent. We were there to celebrate an anniversary and happily received complimentary wine and mock-tail. We had a reservation, but the wait wasn't too bad for a Sunday lunch. The cocktail menu looked amazing, but we had a little too much the night before, so we just got the mocktails. We tried pachamama and tropical. They were tasty and refreshing, highly recommended. For food, we ordered Martina burger, mortadella sandwich, lobster toast, crab benedict, carbonara verde, and potato churros on the side. Our favorite was the burger. It was simple but hit the spot. The side potato churros accompanied the burger well and should be ordered even without the burger. Our least favorite was the carbonara verde. The dish was bland and all we could taste was the pea tendrils, pancetta did nothing for the dish. We tried to add salt, but it was just not good regardless what we tried. Overall experience was meh. After we ordered our food, our sever was gone with the menu. They did ask if they could bring us anything when the dish was coming to the table, but how did we know what we needed before trying anything? The coffee was empty, the water was empty, we had to wave down whoever for everything since we didn't get checked after the dishes came. With that said, we don't know if they have happy hours, but if they do, definitely go there to try their drinks and potato churros. read more

The high average rating is clearly a price bias. Customers spend a higher dollar amount and convince themselves of value. To be fair, Martina has strengths; real strengths. The bar staff are spectacular and the vibe is fun. Parking is a nightmare, even with off-peak reservation times. As many others have highlighted, the host(ess) desk is a callous mess and not the way you want to start the evening. You can forget the value of having a reservation as that is clearly a suggestion within a one-hour window. I suggest you just try to sit at the bar. So onto food: The Yellowtail Crudo ($19) is a standout. In fact, you can take my advice and come to Martina for drinks with friends and a light bite of this yummy dish...then go eat dinner somewhere else. Empanadas ($16) with leaks and garbanzos are good, to be sure, but on reflection, seem out of place on the menu and I get the sense that they are a backdoor method to justify the chimichurri for the kitchens mains. Papperdelle ($32) with duck ragu is a hearty and reliable execution. However, it is unmemorable and lacks a signature flavor that would make it stand out. In the end, it's a staple comfort food you will forget about like mom's meatloaf. Wagyu Zabuton ($48). "zabuton" is an overly fancy way to say in Japanese "cushion." Most people know it as a Denver steak from the front shoulder. You would NEVER know this is wagyu beef. Not only was it tough but the kitchen cut the beef WITH the grain, making it chewy. I would say, the accompanying potato churros are tasty. However, as above, the chimichurri seems forced. The Swordfish is another entree miss. The kitchen has done very little to enhance this steak fish which only goes to expose the fish is clearly a frozen cut that has oiled out and tastes "fishy." To be fair, the manager inspected the fish and agreed, removing the dish from our bill. To that end, the managers genuinely appear interested in protecting their brand. I fear, however, the issues we encountered are rapidly going to unravel that brand. read more
