Basil Pesto

All Square had been on my list for years, and I'm glad I at least know I can go back to get through the winter. It's not a massive menu but all of the grilled cheese sandwiches and sides are a hit! On top of that the staff were truly some of the kindest and most welcoming staff I've ever seen at a counter serve restaurant. Can't wait to go back!

Craft grilled cheese for a good cause- how can you say no? I love the premise behind this nonprofit and the food is pretty good. You get fun preset topping options for grilled cheese . The French fries are crispy, and the tomato basil soup hits the spot. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. I went on a nice summer day and got to take advantage of the beautiful patio but there are some indoor seating options as well. Lots of free street parking available in the neighborhood as well.

Loved, loved, loved my Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese! I went here with a couple friends who were visiting. The weather was perfect, so we took our dog and sat out on the patio. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean and the decor was nice. Love their mission! Employment is a hurdle for many people who are formerly incarcerated. I love that they specifically employ formerly incarcerated individuals and focus on restorative justice. The fellowship program is beneficial not only to those in the program, but also to the community as a whole. Can't say enough wonderful things about this place. Go check it out if you haven't already!

Johnny Tsunami Sandwich

A little gem in the busy food scene if Minneapolis. Excellent food, customer service and mission, friendly ambiance. I am OBSESSED with the Johnny Tsunami and Jerk chicken sandwiches and don't get me started on the fries! The lemonade is also excellent and I'm even impressed with the salad. I hate pickles and I genuinely enjoyed their pickles!

Socially conscious grilled cheese - who knew there was such a thing? And who knew it could be so delish and so rewarding too? We just happened upon this place while visiting the Twin Cities and were so happy we did. We felt privileged to be able to share in their mission.

Great customer service and great sandwiches! We will definitely be back! I liked the apple and Brie sandwich but I might see if they can make it a little less sweet next time!

Havana grilled cheese

They are back open! The food was ready on time. I walked in and was greeted and handed my food. It took less than a minute to pick up the food. I enjoyed my Havana which is their take on a Cuban sandwich. You get a little bit of salad as part of the purchase. The only issue we had was they put pepperoni in a pizza grilled cheese where one of our vegetarian family members had ordered olives and not pepperoni so some trading was necessary. Maybe ordering sites should have a "I'm a vegetarian" option to warn restaurants. Super fast and friendly pick up with easy ordering. One of the family said they have the good kind of fries. Check it out!

We had a fantastic Saturday lunch here!…read more First of all, the parking: parallel parking must be done on the surrounding streets. We lucked out to find a parking spot very close, and the restaurant wasn't even busy when we were there. I can only imagine parking is quite a challenge at busier times of day. We had a cozy booth. I had a view of the streetside windows and the dining room. Music was at a pleasant low volume in the background--we had no trouble talking and listening to each other. Our server, Lali, took good care of us. We were never left wanting and empty dishes were cleared promptly. Everything came out at an ideal pace, too. My husband had a beer from on tap. I was very happy that they had a couple kinds of cider, so I had one from Minneapolis Cider. We ordered poutine as our appetizer. It was fantastic, and a massive serving! My husband had the brisket philly for his entree; brisket is one of those meat cuts that is tricky to get right, as it easily gets too dry, but the cook absolutely perfected it. I had the smoked trout and greens bowl, which was no only delicious, but was also a feast for the eyes. I have never had trout prepared like this before, only salmon, and this dish was quite special. Just a wonderful place. I can see why it is so highly reviewed.

Given Doug Flicker's background, it's no surprise that the bar food here is a bit gussied up. How many other bars make their own American cheese for their burgers? The menu is concise, but it's done well. Service was efficient and friendly. I got the Bulls Horn burger, single, with a gluten free bun. Sadly the massive bun drowned out the rest of the burger a bit, and made it feel a bit dry. I'd have liked more sauce on the burger and wish I'd gotten a double to balance the burger out. But a solid simple burger! The fries are great, like McDonalds fries. And their ranch is unique! Wish I would have spotted the secret menu on the bottom of the table topper before ordering - so cool! We won $100 in pull tabs to end the night strong!

It is in the Mac-Groveland neighborhood so there is ample street parking nearby if you turn on any of the side streets. The restaurant does get busy at dinner, so I recommend making a reservation ahead of time. They have many unique options for cocktails and mocktails. I opted for the Slaychel which is a non-alcoholic beverage that I think of as an elevated mimosa. It is fruity, slightly tart, and delicious! The service was great! Our water was frequently refilled and never got empty, and our server asked about any allergies and dietary restrictions before we ordered. They were able to modify menu items to fit the different dietary restrictions! Two people in our party (including myself) are vegetarians and one member is gluten-free and also doesn't consume much dairy or eggs. They were able to serve the patatas bravas with the egg on the side and the grilled asparagus with the egg and cheese on the side so we were able to all share the starters. The patatas bravas were wonderful! The potatoes are perfectly crispy but still fluffy. The tomato sauce was slightly smokey and had a very slight kick (think Minnesota spice) and it balanced out well with the creamy tomato. If you're only going to try one appetizer, this is the one to try! The asparagus was also nice. The salsa verde had a slight kick (a bit more than the tomato sauce from the patatas bravas, but not super spicy. Still Minnesota level of spice). The shallots also added a nice crispy texture to the dish! The egg really stood out in this dish, with its runny yolk and batter coating. There were a lot of nice elements and textures. As for pastas, I split the Spaghetti and Radiatore with a friend. The Radiatore was nutty and tangy, and the serving size was generous. I enjoyed it, but I would order the Spaghetti over it any day! I don't even know how to describe the Spaghetti and do it justice. It was creamy, cheesy, delicious. Our server said it was a staff favorite, and I understand why. If you're looking for a vegetarian option, go with this one!! Even if you aren't a vegetarian, give it a try. It's so classic, and it's done so well. For dessert: they give free churros when you're dining in! They are served warm with a chocolate drizzle. We also ordered the Honey Cake which we enjoyed a lot! The cake itself was light, like a mousse. There was some crunch from the hazelnut praline and honeycomb toffee pieces. It was nutty and sweet but not overly sweet. It was a perfect way to finish off the meal! Estelle was delicious and the service was great! I can't wait to come back!

When I opened the food at home, I was disappointed. I ordered the homemade vinegar chips to find just plain chips. What? This was one of the standouts when Triple D aired for this joint. I double checked their website, and sure enough, just plain chips now. Dang. Well that was in me. What wasn't on me was the horrible pale looking limp fries. I literally live 5 minutes away, but the fries were cold and limp. Even putting them in the air fryer didn't help. The chicken sandwich I got for the kid was dry, and also came with the sad limp fries. The wife's CCC burger looked pretty good though, but we had to throw the fries away. My dry rub wings were the only saving Grace of the entire meal. Sad. Won't be eating here again.

Bottom line: I would not go back for this very expensive diner that doesn't know how to properly cook simple things. Or chop veg. Or make a drink.
