The food was mediocre at best and heated up in convection ovens of which mine either sat awhile outside waiting for it or it didn't heat up all the way. When it arrived to the table it was lukewarm at best and I had the waitress take it back to be rewarmed, but it came back a little more warm than what it was the first time. My wife's chili con carne was super super hot the opposition of mine. The chatterbox beer was overpriced at $9 a 20 ounce glass that looked more like 16 ounces. An easy 5 stars. The ambiance gives very dive bar in a residential neighborhood. Met a friend here to catch up and have some cocktails. The margarita was heavenly and well crafted. The only personal thing for me, was a poor choice of salt on the rim. But nothing I couldn't get over. The fries were delightful and we go the garlic bread dippers for a little app - wow to both. I celebrated my birthday here yesterday. My friends and I hogged several tables for three hours and still received warm, personable attention from the waitstaff (Denise was fabulous!) and owner. They shared birthday cake with us and told us stories of the pub's 100-year history (it was originally a speakeasy with a barber shop in front to disguise it!). We had fabulous food and enjoyed playing games all afternoon. This could become a go-to celebration spot. I also recommend their THC beverages. The blood orange and cardamom flavor was great. 8/2023 Been a bunch more times to Chatterbox since Covid, with others and solo but I'll speak specifically to the solo experience. Well done! There is a palpable change in the atmosphere from the moment you walk into the place. There's a warm greeting from each person you encounter, including the owner. Doesn't matter if they're still setting up or busy, you feel welcome. The last couple times I've gone solo the server has been attentive to the point of spending extra minutes chatting. I watched her over the hour or so I was there and she made each person and group feel valued. It's a gift to make people's lives even a little bit better and she has it. My friend and I visited Chatterbox Pub on a Saturday evening for dinner. We walked in at about 5 pm and we got seated at a booth instantly. We were unable to find a parking lot so we parked on the street. We chose to dine at Chatterbox Pub because it was on our Pub Pass. We both ordered beers which we really enjoyed. Not all the beers on the menu are valid with the Pub Pass, only a select few. I had no issue with this as there was still plenty to choose from. I ordered the fish tacos and he ordered the Chatterbox Burger. My fish tacos were okay. I enjoyed the shells and the side salad but thought the fish could have used more flavor. My friend really enjoyed his burger. I also tried the burger and thought it was superb! This place is definitely a good spot when in the mood for burgers. Our waiter was nice and gave us the right amount of attention. Had my fish tacos been better I would have given this place 5 stars. read more

Wow!! I don't even know where to begin. Let's go back 20 years. It has been 20 years since I've been to this place because it was awful 20 years ago. The only reason I went is because I had a Groupon and it's in my neighborhood. Foolish me thought that in 20 years they would've gotten rid of the greasy smell when you walk in the door, maybe upgraded the filthy dirty carpeting and MAYBE the food may have improved. Wrong on all accounts!! We enter and ironically it is with the same person I had been with 20 years ago. Immediately we noticed the smell had not changed. Upon seating, I told her "I have a bad feeling about this".... we both order bacon cheeseburgers, mine with the bacon extra crispy. One would assume you would get a strip of bacon. ( More to come on the bacon) We get our burgers and there's no bacon. The burgers, frozen patties that you can buy at Walmart or any restaurant supply company, clearly tasted like they had been frozen for quite some time. The cheese, well...I had never seen cheese like this in my life. It was basically orangish gunk...I choked down half of the burger because I had not eaten anything all day, saving the other half for my dog but later reconsidered.... The meat was not even good enough for a dog.. Our initial server was MIA. Another gentleman whizzed by, asking if everything was OK but before we could even answer he was gone... I eventually did tell him that it was the worst food I had eaten in a few years and he said "I'm sorry to hear that"... I told him for no other reason than to let him know..I'm not one that expects anything for free but his nonchalance of it was quite unappealing. The table next to us also complained about their food. When I inquired about our missing bacon, his remark was that it's bacon bits put into the burger. Are you kidding me? You want me to believe that you put bacon bits in a frozen burger patty? Part of me wanted to open the patty and let him show me where the bacon was... Also, when I asked for my bacon extra crispy, why didn't the server tell me that there is no real strips of bacon. I would not have ordered bacon had I known that it was going to be bacon bits in the burger. I didn't believe the bacon story... It's sad because this place is two blocks from my house and I like to support local businesses but there are sooo many better restaurants nearby where you can get fresh food...Thank goodness I had an expired Groupon so at least we got a few dollars off of our bill. I'm truly hoping that somebody will buy this building, bulldoze it down, and open up a great restaurant. My last experience I waited ten minutes to be greeted by the bar back only to tell me that they can't pour drinks, after she had just poured another guest a beer right in front of me. Came here on a Thursday afternoon due to finding it on Groupon. The place was practically empty and we were seated quickly as it's a seat yourself kind of place. My coworkers and I ordered a variety of food. First thing we all noticed was that our server acted like he didn't have time for us. Fondue beer cheese was watered down cheese sauce, and took forever as it was supposed to be a started but instead came with our entrees. Kentucky burger - delicious but not being asked how I want my burger made was a difference, as I would've preferred medium but instead got it well done The French dip sandwich was bland in flavor and skimpy on the meat. The only thing making it durable was the Au-jus sauce, otherwise it tasted like cardboard. The grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup was phenomenal. As well as the lobster grilled cheese with fries was very tasty, it had many flavors I'd highly recommend everyone trying it out. The fries were extra crispy but super yummy. The beers we ordered were all good tasting, as well as the strawberry cider. Our table of 4 left $17 tip and the server didn't seem at all thankful, instead made a weird hop like we were not tipping enough? There is a main first part of the bar with booths and then around the corner they have more table seating and really cool decor + a little stage! They also had a couple old video game sets that you could play as well. The beer was pretty good and the fries I would highly recommend! Overall, super cozy and unique bar! I haven't been to Chatterbox in years and used to frequent their Highland Park and South Minneapolis locations before they closed. This sole surviving location offers the same, retro-chic atmosphere, wide drink and food menu and a fun selection of classic video and board games to play at your table. Lots of street parking are nearby, making it an easy spot to meet up at. Food is average and I felt the drink prices were a little high. Service was friendly but very, very close. Our family of 23 came into this establishment only 45 minutes late for our reservation, and we were denied a table! My husbands were furious and thoroughly embarrassed as our pastor was within earshot. Every table was filled, and I was flabbergasted that the employees wouldn't accommodate my request to remove an elderly couple from a large booth to fit at least my husbands and me. I even let them know that the children would be just fine on the floor. We kept getting denied, and finally one of my husbands took the situation into his own hands and drove us to McDonald's.
