    Chatterbox Loaded Mac & Cheese

I love Chatterbox. I normally come just for a drink and a hang. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love that they have games and love their karaoke nights.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Always a nice beer selection and I love their espresso martinis. All the food I've tried here has been so good. Love their fries and the mac is so good. Servers are always super nice !

If I'm being so for real these were some of, if not the worst, chicken tenders I've ever had. The fries were equally unremarkable. The taste and texture of both was exactly like the frozen kind when cooked in the oven. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I gave one star for ambiance and one star for the kindness of the staff, although the layout is very impractical and the service is quite slow.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Very casual pub with excellent food & drinks! Great service & lots of options for GF diners. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love the cozy booths & environs which makes it feel like a real UK pub[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Chatterbox Beef Stew with barbacoa beef and mashed potatoes

The food was mediocre at best and heated up in convection ovens of which mine either sat awhile outside waiting for it or it didn't heat up all the way. When it arrived to the table it was lukewarm at best and I had the waitress take it back to be rewarmed, but it came back a little more warm than what it was the first time. My wife's chili con carne was super super hot the opposition of mine. The chatterbox beer was overpriced at $9 a 20 ounce glass that looked more like 16 ounces. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere was interesting, chairs, couches, Nintendo 64 gaming areas and enough seating for small and large groups.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Their pizza looked amazing and I think we should have ordered that instead as I saw them go by us to other tables. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bathroom was in really bad shape. Graffiti written everywhere, the door lock hinge ready to fall off the door and it could definitely use an update and a paint job[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The bathroom is a shared one. The bright spot is the service which I give it 5 stars, as our waitress was very patient, attentive, friendly, and prompt in everything she did for the night to each and every table she served. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The back entrance door window was cracked as well we noticed on the way out as we were parked down the street.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We wished we would have tried their pizza instead as our bill for four of us was $117 and pizzas were under $32 and could have fed four of us. Our mistake but the food could have been made better in my opinion. Not enough mashed potatoes and small portions for $18 & $15 ceramic bowls. They could do a better job of making these or upgrading them with more vegetables.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute place, great neighborhood pub, with board games available![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The pretzel and beer cheese appetizer was delicious! We got the Mac and cheese pizza which I did not think was very good... the deep dish crust wasn't good, which I was surprised about, and I don't know it was really hyped on the menu and I wasn't into it.... And I am a big pizza lover especially Mac and cheese pizza. The service was excellent. Nice drink selection.

    Hellcat Inferno Salad
    Kay K.

If you can handle a spicy kick, I highly recommend the hellcat inferno salad. It has the initial spice WOW factor but is easily cooled off by the red pepper sour cream and fajita ranch dressing. It's filling, colorful and satisfying - all the things a great salad should be.

Wine and Wine & Dine Chicken

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a very fun, lil hipster bar[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Half of it is the bar, the other side is a "fun uncle" family vibe with a small couch corner, big ole TV with some old school video games and regular wall- mounted TVs for viewing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is a small dark space which can feel a little cramped at times.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I really enjoyed their funky menu items. Definitely American comfort focused. I tried the wine and dine chicken. An average serving size I was able to finish without leftovers. I enjoyed the balsamic reduction with the potatoes and mushrooms.

Pub pass visit for new year. Once again we had our grand dog, Millie, with us so we endured a bit chilly but sunny dinner on the patio. Our food was good and service was excellent. I opted for a basic burger and garlic mashed potatoes this time and it was great. My dark beer complimented the dinner well. Parking right in front. Another tasty meal from Chatterbox Pub.

I celebrated my birthday here yesterday. My friends and I hogged several tables for three hours and still received warm, personable attention from the waitstaff (Denise was fabulous!) and owner. They shared birthday cake with us and told us stories of the pub's 100-year history (it was originally a speakeasy with a barber shop in front to disguise it!). We had fabulous food and enjoyed playing games all afternoon. This could become a go-to celebration spot. I also recommend their THC beverages. The blood orange and cardamom flavor was great. Thank you Chatterbox!

Today the place was packed due to the festivities, and the parking lot was transformed into a large patio with a DJ, a small bar area, and an outdoor bbq that was slinging burgers, 1/4 pound hot dogs, tots, and popcorn chicken. There was also a meat raffle going on as well. Since it was pretty hot out, we decided to get a seat inside. The seating for today was largely communal to accommodate the large crowd, and we found a seat for the three of us. I went outside to get a smash burger, 1/4 pound hotdog, and a basket of tots. The wife stayed inside with the kiddo to order some drinks. The food cooking outside took tickets ($5 a ticket) and 5 tickets were bought for the food. Not a bad deal in my book. The food took under 10 minutes to get, and the cooks were working the fryers and flattop grill like pros. The smash burger was a nice size, came with cheese and grilled onions, and was on a brioche bun. The hot dog was a nice size, and the tots were plentiful, hot, and crispy out of the outside fryer. Run of the mill condiments were also available, and serve yourself. The wife said the smash burger was better than I make, and I make a pretty damn good burger. While we were eating, I totally felt the dive bar feel, and had the feeling this was pretty much a local bar hangout. Supposedly it's been around for over 70 years (with a name change). After eating, we went outside to see if we could win some meat in the raffle but didn't get lucky. We will come back though. Evidently every 4th Wednesday they have another meat raffle at the bar. The good news is the kiddo won a huge cake on the cake walk contest! We will definitely be back. I want to try their fried dill pickle broasted chicken. Time to eat some cake!

The space itself isn't terribly large, and it looked like there were only three or four people working that evening. After being seated, it took a while before we were able to order our first round of drinks. Normally I don't focus much on service in reviews, but we could immediately tell our waitress was not having a great night. We were forgotten about a few times, but eventually managed to order some small bites, including a charcuterie board and some pretty yummy cheese curds. When we finally caught her for our second round, I complimented her glasses since they were similar to mine, partially in an attempt to cheer her up. I was met with a glare and a mumbled "thanks." When she walked away, all four of us kind of looked at each other like... dang, we're not sure what we did. Having all worked in service ourselves, we try to be respectful, stack our dishes, wipe up after ourselves, and generally make things easier where we can. Oddly enough, when it came time to pay, she returned with a completely different attitude... suddenly cheerful, friendly, and telling us to have a great night. Honestly, the whole interaction was a little bizarre! Service aside, the cocktails were balanced and genuinely good, the food was slightly elevated and hit the spot, and the atmosphere was great, especially with the DJ playing that night. We decided to Uber since we knew we'd be drinking, so I can't speak firsthand to parking, although it looked like street parking could be moderately difficult depending on the night. I'd still go back if I were in the area and the night warranted it. My guess is we caught them on an off night or they ended up busier than anticipated.

So here we are, 38th and Hiawatha. Not a lot has changed over the years, except maybe more selections on tap. walking in from the corner door takes you into a dimly light bar with enough to seat about 10 to 12 patrons. You will also notice there is tons of seating options in the bar and into the second room. Further back you will find the game room with a bunch of pool tables and a couple dart boards for the gaming folks. The vibe in here is typical neighborhood bar, it is relaxed, the patrons are just your regular easy going folks, and you can easily chat up folks here...maybe discover a new drinking buddy! We came in to do a little day drinking, play some pull-tabs and eat some food. First and foremost, winning a couple hundred in pull-tabs already makes this a fun place to hang...actually it would have been fun regardless. The food fare is your standard bar food, however they do serve breakfast, and the entrees I saw people woofing down, I'd hit this place up for breakfast. We opted to order the pork tenderloin and the sour cream and onion burger. Both were served on toast; the tenderloin on whole wheat with pickles and onions (you need to ask for onions) with a sizable breaded tenderloin. If you want a side I.e. coleslaw, cottage cheese, tots, French fries you need to order with your sandwich. The burger served on pumpernickel had fried onions on it with the sour cream. If I lived on the south side, I'd certainly make this my second home.

A Study in Patience and Poultry: The Unhurried Charm of Cedar Inn…read more Tucked away on Cedar Street just outside the bustling Minneapolis perimeter, the Cedar Inn operates on a frequency entirely its own. It is an unapologetic local haunt, a room thoroughly saturated with what one might politely call "character." To cross its threshold is to accept a fundamental renegotiation of time: one must abandon any sense of urgency, as the kitchen operates with a deliberate, unhurried pacing that turns a quick bite into an extended residency. Fortunately, the establishment provides ample diversion for the wait. The space is a veritable playground of local wagering, boasting an array of gambling options that keep the atmosphere charged and the patrons thoroughly entertained while the culinary gears slowly turn. When the food does arrive, the results are largely triumphant. An order of twelve wings, efficiently partitioned among a trio of diners, proved to be the exact mathematical ideal for a shared appetizer. More importantly, they were a genuine culinary delight--crisp, well-sauced, and deeply satisfying. The supporting cast of sides was equally formidable; both the onion rings and the French fries achieved a flawless, golden perfection that many loftier kitchens struggle to master. The experience is not without its rustic quirks, of course. The beverage program is staunchly utilitarian, dispensing sodas strictly by the aluminum can. And while the fryer was clearly working magic on the potatoes and onions, the fried mushrooms suffered a tragic loss of thermal momentum, arriving at the table regrettably cold. "A good local pub has much in common with a church, except that a pub is warmer, and there's more conversation." -- Bill Vaughan Despite the sluggish tempo and the minor misstep with the mushrooms, the Cedar Inn remains a fundamentally great local spot. It is an establishment that knows exactly what it is, requiring only that you adjust your watch to its rhythm. I will certainly be returning--if only to surrender to the pacing once more and investigate the promised draw of their Tuesday tacos. If this dispatch from the local tavern scene was useful to you, please leave a like or comment below so I can keep writing these reviews for your education, preparation, and enjoyment.

This is a very busy place, so expect at least some wait. I stood in line for about five minutes, but I was dining alone and was able to take a seat at the bar. Larger parties may have to wait longer. Also, be aware that Matt's Bar is cash only. The Jucy Lucy is clearly the most popular item. The burgers are cooked to order, but the grill is constantly loaded with them. From what I observed, they seemed to be prepared in batches, so your wait may depend on where your order falls in the cooking cycle. Parking was easier than I expected. I found free street parking about 100 yards away. The bartender was excellent, the kitchen staff kept things moving, and there was a decent beer selection. I also ordered fries, and the portions are enormous. A half order would easily be enough for two people to share, while a full order could probably feed four. As for the burger itself, it was good and definitely worth trying for the history and experience. I would rate it somewhere around 3.5 to 4 out of 5. One important tip is to let it sit for about five minutes before taking a bite. The cheese inside is extremely hot and very liquid when the burger first arrives, so it can easily burn your mouth. Giving it a few minutes allows the cheese to cool and thicken slightly. Overall, I enjoyed Matt's Bar and am glad I tried the original-style Jucy Lucy. Between the crowds and the cash-only policy, it is probably a one-time experience for me rather than somewhere I would visit regularly, but it was still a very good stop.
