By far the best cocktails I've had in Minneapolis. The vibes are awesome on the 27th floor of the W with cool rooms throughout and really interesting chairs and different set ups. Honestly every drink we had was good from unique drinks made by the bar to just the classics like a manhattan. I think this would be a cool spot to rent out for a private event with all your friends or co-workers, especially if folks were staying in the W.

We came for the views and the drinks impressed.look at the menu! It's extravagant and the drinks taste so good

Went here solo for a quick drink before a dinner reservation, elsewhere. It wasn't too clear if you could seat yourself or if you need to check in. But I ended up seating myself and had someone help me order. The drink I got was super unique it was the first time I tried a schezuan buzz bomb! I'm glad the server told me how to use it properly since I did see another bar use these and didn't realize they were edible!

Prohibition wasn't very busy when it opened at 5pm. By 7:30pm it was filling up fast. The actual bar is small with most seating in the other cozy rooms. The specialty cocktail is the Verbena. Chew the Szechuan Button for a mouth numbing effect. The swirl the drink in your mouth. Very fun. The Verbena - Herradura Silver Tequila, Monin Ginger Syrup, Lemon Juice, Yuzu Sour Puree, Szechuan Button Your food choices are a limited menu of small plates or you can order from the Manny's menu (food will cool before it makes it to the bar). Don't miss the Steamed Buns - they were excellent. The Tuna Poke was good but didn't have a lot of favor. Order the banana cream pie off the Manny's menu; it's big enough to share. Adam was a fun bartender and made a nice virgin fruit punch drink. More small plate choices would be helpful. Prices are higher for drinks and food. The view is wonderful.

VIEWS FOR MILES We enjoyed a beer and a 'zero proof' cocktail at Prohibition right after a weekday 5pm opening when it was very quiet. We were tucked away in a corner on a high-top table with great views of the surrounding Minneapolis skyscrapers and distant views of St. Paul. I was able to take some great photos out the windows throughout the bar before it got too busy. WE SKIPPED THE OBSERVATION DECK, CHOOSING PROHIBITION INSTEAD We chose visiting the 27th floor Prohibition over paying to ascend to the Foshay Tower and Observation Deck (30th floor), because we thought the views were good enough. We put our money towards cocktails instead! If you want to learn about the history of the place, it's easy to research it on your phone while sipping. :) 1920s SPEAKEASY FEEL The decor is 1920s-ish with dark woods, blacks and purples with splashes of reds, occasional armchairs, couches and book cases. It was originally a retreat for the builder magnate Wilbur Foshay. I thought the actual bar didn't quite have a wow factor, but the rest of it felt 'speakeasy', although it's not quite as mysterious and clandestine as some we've visited. MOCKTAIL The zero proof cocktail I tried -- A 'Crime of Passion', complete with a real flower for garnish -- was one of the best 'mocktails' I'd ever had. It wasn't too watered down with ice and was quite flavorful. ($12, summer of 2024). TAKE THE ELEVATOR TO THE 27TH FLOOR In order to get to Prohibition, take the elevator up to the 27th floor from the ground floor where you find the check-in desks at the Foshay (W Hotel). When we took the elevator, there was a large crowd of conference people also waiting, so it took a few rounds of waiting before we got up there. For great photos of the Foshay Tower, go across the street.

Perfect spot for drinks in the city! It was very crowded but since we were a group of 6 they gave us a reserved area. The holiday drinks were good but strong

We had a great time getting drinks at Prohibition this weekend to kick off a friends wedding weekend. The drinks were yummy, the staff was nice and the views out the window were incredible. The bar sits atop the W hotel, on the 28th floor. My ears popped in the elevator, we were so high up! We were *those* people and brought our child with us. We were traveling from out of town and had no one to watch our daughter. They happily welcomed us in and gave her a water. :) We didn't stay long, maybe 45 minutes, since we didnt want to be too disruptive with a child. But we never felt like they were looking down on us or were annoyed.

I used to live in Atlanta, currently live in Austin, and have experienced nightlife in Nashville/Savannah/Miami. Thus, my expectations were sky high. Based on my research it appears the Twin Cities have limited options compared to the above 5 cities. And promising options like "Fool Me Once" were listed as already closed. There was a short line outside & it was chilly so I couldn't wait to be let in. There was no cover which usually means expensive drinks and that's exactly the case ($13-$14 per shot). The main floor was quite empty when we arrived around 11:30pm so I made a beeline for the basement hidden behind the bar, which I didn't see until I posed for my neon sign photo. Downstairs there is another bar to the right when you are at the foot of the stairs, and the famous disco room is to your left. We went on Saturday night and it was packed to the brim! I moseyed my way up to the DJ booth but it was annoying having to jostle the vacant & occupied VIP tables. My friend and I danced a little but left within an hour because it was so stuffy. But you know, that reminded me of a similar basement at Dark Horse Tavern in Atlanta where I used to go almost every weekend.

I will say the music was good, and the bar overall looked clean. I approached the bar and asked for a dirty martini, specified my vodka preference and requested a lesser amount of the brine. Brandy (the bartender), began preparing the cocktail and I knew immediately that she didnt know what she was doing. I tasted a sip of the prepared cocktail and was very disappointed. I asked Brandy if another bartender could prepare the cocktail. Brandy found Dylan. Dylan was excellent. Dylan asked questions about my preference in vodka, how much brine I's like and asked if I wanted a vermouth rinse. Dylan measure the ingredients well and prepared the perfect cocktail. I was so impressed, I continued to order cocktails from Dylan for the remainder of the night and tipped him well. Later in the night, Brandy reapproached me and asked, "You don't trust me to make you a drink?" I explained to Brandy that once I have a bad experience with a bartender or server, I rather try a different server/bartender. It wasn't personal, but I refuse to pay for bad or mediocre service. While Brandy wasn't rude or mean, I believe she could benefit from more training in cocktail crafting and delivering an experience to the customer. I spoke to Hannah who was kind and receptive to my feedback. I would visit again and hope the next time my experience is even better.

The W was one of the host hotels for the official Prince Celebration 2022 festivities and the official welcome party was held at The Living Room. As to be expected, this party resulted in lots of people who came to dance, drink and to celebrate the 'Purple Yoda from Minnesota'. Surprisingly, this space was an excellent option for the party it has a dance floor area along with a large well-stocked bar which easily accommodated everyone's drink choice. Add to that, they had a few Purple drink specials for the night which were tasty. The bartenders did a great job in processing the nonstop drink orders and the servers were kept very busy throughout the night. When not used for parties, the ambiance is much more laid-back. As the name says, it has more of a 'living room' feel. In addition to the long bar, there are many sections of lounge seating (chars, couches, etc.) which are perfect for unwinding. Even after the party, the bar continued to be well-stocked; so well-stocked that a friend and I made a couple of discoveries while sipping one afternoon. To our surprise, they had a bottle of Old Rip Van Winkle (10 year) along with a bottle of Weller Single Barrel. It's rare to find either at a bar; having both made for an amazing find. My friend and I quickly made it our mission to empty both bottles so we would each have a souvenir from The Living Room (we succeeded). Following the welcome party, the bartenders could have been a bit tired but that was far from the case, they were as energetic and welcoming as they were at the party. If interested in food to go with your adult beverage, they work directly with Manny's Steakhouse (also attached to The W) which means anything from appetizers to a complete steak dinner can be ordered and enjoyed while in The Living Room. On future trips, whether staying at The W or not, I will make a point to stop by The Living Room for an adult beverage or two.

I don't know if it's good or bad, but I like watching the DJ in action sometimes when I go out dancing. She was playing some good dance music. Before you head to Mansion, you have to come with an open mind and lots of forgiveness in your heart. Drink a lot or take a chill pill before you come because this place has lots of rules. The night we were here, there were more security guards and "hostess" sweeping the floor than regular customers. I call them hostess, but I don't really know what they do other than stand around looking gorgeous and smiling. They didn't greet us when we came in or take our drink orders throughout the night so I don't really know what they do. I heard there is dress code for the men so make sure you have collared shirt and long pants on. As for the ladies, you don't have to remind us to dress to kill for a night out. The is no cover charge so that's pretty awesome since we are sure to be drinking inside anyway. However, their policies for not allowing jackets laying around doesn't make for a fun time. I have never been to a club where they force you to either wear your darn jacket or pay for coat check service and only if you can find it due to poor signage. Firstly, I was told to remove my jacket from laying it on the arm rest of a couch that was supposedly reserved for an invisible party because no one showed up. Secondly, they tell me I can't put my jacket on the bar stool when we finally found some kind souls to share their limited bar seating area with us!! Really!!!!!!!!!?????? Mansion?????? My last encounter with Mansion's rules (whew this one tops the icing on the cake), I put down my empty champagne glass on a nearby table because we were having so much fun dancing that I didn't want to risk breaking a glass on the dance floor only to be told I have to put my glass at the bar! In short, he is telling me "bus your own empty glass, lady!" I asked him if he could take the glass away for me only to be refused because he is too good to do just that (provide good customer service) because he has a black suit on and an ear piece. I am a paying customer Mansion!!!??? Some advise for Mansion- let loose on your rules! There are not enough tables to put down our darn drinks so we can dance hands free! Instead, you have too many Reserved couches on the nights when your joint was half empty.
