One of my favorite spots for brunch in the city for any occasion! We had friends in from out of town and brought them here for brunch before a Twins game and they loved it! The service is always great and they have been so creative with fun drinks and menu items like mimosa and espresso martini towers and girl dinners. They have ample indoor, bar and patio seating for whatever your heart is feeling. We always always always get a breakfast pizza for the table. This is a MUST. I do miss that they don't give out an appetizer mini donut to start but glad to see they remained on the menu. I ordered a mimosa tower to share and some friends had coffees and a the screw up which were l tasty. The towers are so cute and fun. Some items we ordered and loved were the Florentine omelette (the fontina hash browns were the star), the wood fired pancake (wow one of best I've had), and the piadina which was the perfect amount of spice. On the fourth day of my first visit to Minneapolis, my buddy JJ and I embraced Minnesota Nice and invited Matthieu, a newfound bar friend, to a Twins game. We all slept through first pitch, but that didn't stop us from ordering combo platters of shots and beers. Three hours of baseball and day-drinking can take a toll on a man, so Matthieu proposed an after-party at his favorite eatery, Red Rabbit. This guy identifies tacos by their Mexican state of origin, so I trusted his judgment. The hostess seemed surprised when three guys in full baseball regalia requested a lunch table, but she welcomed us and honored our request to sit far from any families and members of the clergy. Matthieu came out swinging with a hard-to-find AleSmith Nut Brown Ale. We paired it with the Burrata Grilled Toast, topped with micro basil, pesto, and roasted tomatoes. The toast inspired such devotion that we divided the final piece into thirds like diplomats negotiating a peace treaty. Some Minneapolitan-Neapolitan cultural exchange was clearly at work in the Garlic Bread Cheese Curds. This layered appetizer starts crunchy, turns puffy, and finishes with the curds' satisfying squeak. It needed marinara about as much as Joe Mauer needed Justin Morneau, but the sauce still improved the experience. Before you alert the pizza police, PB&J Pizza stands for pineapple, bacon, and jalapeño. This Hawaiian-adjacent combination hits close to home because it mirrors my preferred PP&J: pineapple, pepperoni, and jalapeño. I may have to add it as a favorite in the Papa John's app. The Vodka Rigatoni with Meatballs arrived creamy and light on the Calabrian chili. I would have added Italian sausage for more punch. Still, JJ had only recently graduated from tri-color Bomb Pops to gelato, so the milder approach probably suited him. He cleared his plate, which settled the argument. Then things started to slide. Our server, whose identity I'll protect, remained professional and attentive but sometimes appeared overwhelmed. Trouble began with the Cheese & Salami Board. When he tried to upsell me to the large, I naturally asked which cheeses and salamis it included. "Um... salami from Italy, cheese, nuts, olives, and chocolate," he replied. I skipped the CliffsNotes and moved on. I wasn't spending nearly $40 on mystery salami, bar nuts, and another serving of burrata. Every dish up to that point had cleared the fence, so we expected another home run from the Chicken Parmesan. Unfortunately, it arrived soggy, as though someone had forgotten it under the broiler. Only the edges that escaped the cheese and sauce remained crispy. While my buddies mauled the accompanying Bucatini Alfredo, I ordered a Gluek's Cream Ale. The first sip made me wince. JJ, who has watched me eat tablespoon-sized bumps of Sevruga caviar without blinking, immediately noticed. He took a sip and responded with a full tongue-scraping motion. Not one to be left out, Matthieu sampled it and reported, "I see where all the discontinued pennies went: into making this beer." I flagged our server, who carried the beer to the bartender. The bartender sniffed it, inspected its color, poured a comparison taste of Metal High Life from the draft, declared the Gluek's palatable, and sent the verdict back through our server. I didn't care if the president of the American Brewers Guild had personally pinned a gold medal on it. The beer tasted like a fistful of loose change, and no diner should need expert testimony to prove that. Seeking a palate cleanser, we ordered the Spritz Tree, or flight, featuring Campari, Hugo, Midnight, Watermelon, and Tequi... "THAT'S FIVE!" the server snapped. We responded with three raised eyebrows. Fine. The deal included four spritzes for $50, not five for $40. Maybe I had developed late-onset dyslexia. Maybe the $2 Twins Pils from earlier had finally entered the lineup. After that frosty exchange, our server kept circling the table to ask whether we needed anything else. You couldn't have fit a toothpick among the plates and pours, so I interpreted the check-ins as a not-so-subtle suggestion that we continue our Minneapolis mayhem elsewhere. Waiter fatigue aside, Red Rabbit delivers playful food, inventive cocktails, and enough Twin Cities character to warrant a return visit. We left without conquering as much of the menu as I had hoped, but that gives me a solid reason to come back. read more

I know these are popular but honestly I've just never felt the love with either the Red Rabbit or Red Cow locations. Really it's not that they're bad or anything, they're just not that great in my opinion and I'd rather go somewhere else for the money. I've had both bad and good service with them: once my group was completely ignored by our waitress and never checked in on again so we had to get our tab from the bartender, other times the staff has been completely happy and helpful. The food is pretty mediocre especially for the price. Again not that it's bad but I see them as a step up from the chain places like Chilis and Applebees. Their ingredients are way fresher and you can tell that they have decent chefs but it's still just lacking something, to me there isn't much of a "wow" factor. This location does have a patio which is great and the lighting and ambiance is has always been great. No complaints there. I've come to Minneapolis a few times for work now and Red Rabbit has been a place that I have to stop by at least once. There's a cozy, friendly environment and they have excellent food and drinks. During my latest visit to Minneapolis (June 2026), I arrived late on a Sunday night and stopped by, and was pleasantly surprised by their Girl Menu - $20 for a small caesar salad, rosemary fries, vodka pasta and a hugo spritz. Honestly, a fantastic deal to me! I did supplement with some fried cheese curds, although those ended up tasting too heavy/oily for my personal taste. I've enjoyed their other appetizers and pizzas with coworkers, but what I've come to love (and hate because I may have had one too many) are their House Martini - I love the presentation and the way you can spritz a bit more of whatever is in that spray bottle (I was told, but I can't remember exactly what it was- possibly just the vermouth for whatever amount you want?). There's even an extra bit they keep in a small carafe to top yourself off when you're done with the drink in your coupe! Absolutely favorite martini in recent memory. I'm picky, and so I can't give Red Rabbit five stars, but I liked it. My wife and I were scouting our new neighborhood before we move, and chose Red Rabbit for lunch. Interestingly, it's one block east of what has been our North Loop border, which has been 3rd Avenue. Why we placed an iron curtain on 3rd Avenue is beyond me. The bar was pleasant and fun on a weekday afternoon. My Espresso Martini was good, and the beer selection will make most people happy. I thought my Caesar salad was great; the taste came through without any need to deconstruct that many restaurants feel inclined to do. Our grinders were good, but there was too much stuff on them to call the sandwich a New England grinder; the name is more marketing than reality. Our server/bartender, Aiden, was engaging and fun. He's the kind of server every restaurant should have. We will return to Red Rabbit when we move to the North Loop in August. I can't wait. read more

Every now and then I take myself out for a little shopping, thrifting, eating, and drinking on a random weekday in the middle of the month. After a full day of thrifting, I decided it was time for dinner, and after passing this place for years, I finally decided to stop in. I was seated at a charming table for two. The interior had the vibe of a historic building, with brick, vaulted ceilings, and large windows. I ordered the Amatriciana from that day's specials menu along with the chocolate cherry martini. As for the food and service, everything was top-notch. Our order was taken promptly and both our drinks and dishes arrived quickly without feeling rushed. Wow, wow, WOW! I was super impressed with Red Rabbit, the only disappointing thing about dining here was that I haven't eaten here sooner! First of all, service here is top notch. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was the perfect amount of attentive without being overbearing. But besides that, she did a great job recommending things to us. The manager also came over and we had a nice conversation with her; she helped me figure out what I should order with my dairy issues. Red Rabbit is one of the best service experiences we have had in the Twin Cities, hands down. The food was amazing too. I got the marinera pizza and the cauliflower, both "plant based" (vegan, including dairy-free). I found out after ordering that if your issue is simply dairy, you can also order the vegan bolognese and then substitute pork sausage for the vegan sausage; I will definitely do that next time. But both the pizza and the cauliflower were excellent, the pizza was perfectly crisp and a bit spicy, and the cauliflower was delicious. For drinks, we each had a version of an aperol spritz (being a 'Roman" restaurant, they of course have a ton of "spritz" drinks, including a flight). I also had an old fashioned, which was the only thing I consumed that evening that I didn't really care for (I would get it with a different bourbon; their whiskey was too earthy for me). We ordered the garlic cheese curds which came to the table piping hot and really really yummy. We also got a half dozen oysters, which were fine, presented well with a trio of sauces. I'd give them a 8/10 for the shucking but they were still totally edible and great. Bonus points to our waiter for knowing exactly what types of oysters he had available. For dinner, I got the bolognase, my friend got the vegan bolognase, and my husband got a pizza. The pizza was reportedly good - it looked good. My friend ate almost her entire plate, so hers must have been good. Unfortunately, my pasta was overcooked and a bit gummy, and my dish overall was lukewarm. I think it must have been the first one done and sat on the line in the kitchen for awhile. I only ate half of it and honestly am not excited about the leftovers. I went with a group for a friend's birthday, and the service was absolutely incredible, the server laughed with us made jokes, and made it so easy to be there as a group. We dined here on Sunday, August 31st, party of two, with an arrival at about 8:45pm. We had an excellent experience, and honestly -- this was probably our restaurant highlight of our trip to MSP. Red Rabbit is located in a very vibrant area of downtown, even on a holiday weekend, where Downtown is not the busiest of areas, this place seemed to be doing pretty well. We had a wonderful server this evening. Her name was Natalie, and she was very pleasant, made great recommendations and overall had a great attitude. We started with some drinks, and my first choice unfortunately was not available (Frose machine was down); however, I settled on another drink, which was also great. So, we ended up sharing both the Italian Chopped Salad and the PB&J Pizza. Both were excellent. The Chopped Salad was perfectly tossed and dressed with a great assortment of ingredients including salami, pepperoni, provolone, chickpeas, peppers and olives. The Pizza was Pepperoni, Bacon and Jalapeno. It was also good, crispy, baked to a golden brown, with a good amount of toppings. YUM! We each got our own dessert, although we tried both. We got the Sticky Toffee Cake and the Chocolate Budino. Although they were both good, the Sticky Toffee Cake was the winner. This was next level. We were once at a Hells Kitchen restaurant, (the Gordon Ramsey one, not the one in MSP) and this one gave that one a clear rival to watch out for. Overall, an excellent meal. Yum! We recently saw an instagram reel showcasing Red Rabbit's brunch and knew we had to give it a try! We made reservations ahead of time but I think if you get there right at 10 when they open for brunch you would be able to get a table. It was getting busy when we left around 11. The ambiance of the restaurant was really cool. They had lots of cocktails, wines, and n/an options to choose from. We didn't order any beverages but the food absolutely blew us away! My fiancé said it may have been top 10 best things he's ever eaten! He had the piadia which is more of a breakfast burrito. I had the French toast, which was so rich and amazing! We also split the fontina hash which had this crispy outer shell and was warm and flavorful in the middle! We will 100% be back! read more
