I was immediately uncomfortable when I arrived because the first thing I encountered was a woman they hired, greeting us outside in an extremely revealing outfit, with sequin pasties and a thong-style costume. She then made her rounds around the restaurant, the two hours I was there. I found the presentation completely inappropriate for a restaurant. It felt more like something you would see at a strip club or Vegas nightlife venue than at a restaurant, and it was especially jarring at a 5 PM event. Honestly, I would have found it inappropriate regardless of the time. I'm Latina and all for a good, sexy time. But there is a time and place for everything. Beyond that, the restaurant was extremely crowded and hot, and they were already running out of food. Given the number of people there, the food situation was poorly handled. I also had an issue with my drink charge. It was listed as $9, but I was charged over $11, while my friend was charged only $10 for hers. That inconsistency was frustrating. Unfortunately, between the uncomfortable atmosphere, extreme crowding, heat, lack of food, and billing discrepancy, this was a very disappointing experience. Found this on Yelp and walked over... a sign on the door said "Yelp event tonight". I must've just missed it. I have never been to a Yelp event in my 12 years doing Yelp. Tonight should've been that night. I ordered pizza and a local can of beer and it was good. I also bought ordered an empanada for breakfast tomorrow morning and had a little bite, it was ok. It is a big restaurant with plenty of space inside and out. They have a second floor I suspect they probably use when they're having a football game or event. They have a variety of high tops and comfortable booth seating options. The place has a bit of an unusual vibe... for a big restaurant they have a speaker you would get for a teenagers room blaring some sounds from one of the tables. The bar is massive with limited options. The bar has about 100 taps, none are flowing. I asked what happened and the food carrier mumbled something I didn't understand. As far as service goes, it's basic. You order at the counter. Someone eventually brings your food at some point. It wasn't too crowded and service was slow, about 45 minute wait for pizza. The guy that eventually came to my table, didn't acknowledge me. He mumbled 84, which was my number. I asked him for a bag for the empanada and said he would bring it back without looking up and never did. I would put the service barely above McDonald's and not as good as chipotle. Would I go back? No. Will it stay busy? Yes as it has good pizza cold beer and is right next to the stadium and the armory. Lastly, it is expensive. One small pizza and a beer was $42 with tip. This is an Argentina style pizza, which is my first time having it. The crust is literally the best part and I don't even like crust on any pizza. Really great empanadas and perfectly cheesy pizza. The menu isn't massive but every option is intentional and delicious. We sat outside, but there's ample seating and wonderful music inside. Food took a bit long to come out, but the team members were clearly working at 110% to make up for the small staff. Boludo is serving Argentina pizza which has sauce that is on the sweeter side. I like it a lot because it stands up to the bold ingredients. I've been here a ton of times but always for take out. The restaurant is self service meaning you sit yourself and get your own water. It was really busy when we went but food came out in about 20 minutes for how packed the restaurant was. The empanadas are a must. I've tried most of them but the carne is my favorite. And the chimichurri is so good with a nice vinegar kick with fresh herbs The Campo pizza comes with chorizo, mushrooms, onions and mozzarella. The best part is the parmesan cheese they put on the crust. I would like the amount of cheese on the crust they show in pictures match what you get in person. Our pizza was really heavy on the mozz and not enough balance of the other ingredients. Also got the flan which has candied pecans and dolce de leche on top and the custard below. Boludo seems to be Argentinian-owned and family-run. I ordered the Porteño and asked for extra parmesan because of an Instagram reel I've seen with parmesan covering the crust. Due to a small misunderstanding, they ended up giving me something even better.... A fully parmesan-covered pizza. It was probably the best thing I've eaten that entire trip. Truly a great blend of salt, acid, fat, and heat. The second day I tried the Campo and tried to ask for the same cheese covering but ended up with the style I saw in the reel with the crust covered in cheese. My first visit to Boludo was a mixed experience. I didn't indulge in their most sought-after item, the pizza, but from an empanada perspective, I can't say I was entirely blown away. One of several marks that make an empanada spectacular is the filling-to-dough ratio. I'll seldom mention price as a factor because I enjoy paying for a good meal, regardless of what it is. However, quality and value are also important to me. I didn't feel that the quality of everything I ate made up for the value. I sampled the Messi, Pollo, and Carne. The pollo empanada was my absolute favorite as it definitely followed the empanada ratio-rule. Juicy, well-seasoned, and stuffed like a pillow, this chicken empanada was baked to a beautiful golden brown perfection, enjoyable from start to finish. The pastry dough was airy, crisp, and tender, with just the right thickness for the filling. I dipped this bite in their house-made Chimichurri sauce, which amplified the flavors of the chicken. I could've easily eaten several. 10/10, no notes. The Messi, Boludo's creation of a pizza empanada hybrid, was a bit messy. Because it's a fried empanada, the filling is steaming when you break into the empanada. The reggianito and mozzarella cheese filling ooze out, which may sound delicious, but along with a few slices of pepperoni, it's all the filling there is. So unfortunately, all of the filling fell on my plate, leaving me with empty empanada "husks" which I used to scoop up the filling. It was okay. I appreciate the attempt at an untraditional filling, but it wasn't a bite I'd necessarily suggest or order again. The carne empanada was the most disappointing of all. Stuffed with beef picadillo, ají molidos, and olives, this empanada crumbled at the first bite. Compared to the chicken empanada, which shares the same dough, there was a difference in taste solely in the dough. The dough of the beef empanada was chewy, dense, and very crumbly. The picadillo filling was abhorrently dry. It was an overall miss for me. Regarding the ambiance, I enjoyed my meal on their patio dining space while the sun was still toasty, which is an excellent option for people watching and enjoying views of the Twin Cities. This eatery is very casual. An option to consider if you're in the area and desire a quick, light bite. Offering counter-service only, you place your order, receive a number, and your food is brought to wherever you choose to sit. While there is no table service, drinks, cutlery, etc., may be brought to your table if you ask. The space indoors offers a few booths and tables for seating. There are lots of TVs inside playing different sports channels. Parking was challenging because there is only metered parking nearby, but Boludo is centrally located and also partners with a couple of food delivery services if you can't make it to them. read more

I grabbed water and plates/napkins/silverware available but the staff was helping to do this as well. I like the fact that you can take what you need for your meal and get more water and napkins as needed. We had the cesar salad and fancy pizza with prosciutto and arugula. The salad has a lovely kick to it while not being too spicy. The pizza was delicious, slightly chewy but not too much, creamy, fresh and salty.
