Boludo is so good! I usually get pizza, but this time I tried the leek empanada and the ham empanada. Delicious! Ordering at the counter was easy. Since I visited the downtown location the night of an event, tables filled quickly but didn't feel overcrowded.

Holy moly this pizza was so good ! I got the margarita pizza and it was amazing. They put a bunch of cheese on the crust and overall just hit. I will say the crust tastes different, I wasn't able to pinpoint it - almost sweet? I finished the pizza by myself. Only downside is they have a weird seating system where you pick a table then order.

Well, first off, not from around here, went to YELP of course for recommendations, about 4 hours earlier I made a trip to a BBQ place in the area, still sitting in my hotel kitchen practically untouched (bad decision) wanted to try a good.local pizza so brings me to Boludo, presentation obviously very different from the norm, ordered the Campo, cheesy, fresh, crust as it shuld be for type, but it didnt Wow me. I deff enjoyed it more than that BBQ tho. Ima be real,l kinda dissapointed so far on my Foodie adventures 2 weeks deep in Minn.

Boludo is an interesting spot Downtown - it seems to be in a space that doesn't really quite suit it, and the counter service aspect makes them truly apparent given everything else inside. The pizza was decent albeit a bit of a letdown for something I'd been looking forward to trying for awhile. The Campo was earthy, but a little too undercooked on this visit. The Messi empanada was way overpriced, especially considering it was more of a fancy hot pocket with a spice-filled dipping oil. This is a borderline 2-star review, which is quite below the usual for me, but unfortunately the food, the service, and the setting itself all left quite a bit to be desired.

We came in after the Vikings game to wait out the crowds. Luckily we got there early and we're able to get a table before the masses came in. They had a date night special which includes 2 empanadas, 1 pizza, 1 salad, and 1 dessert. I honestly think this was enough for 4 people. We chose: Empanadas: Carne and Espinaca Pizza: Pepperoni Salad: De La Casa Dessert: Churro Donuts All of it was delicious! I did think the churros were a little more dense than I would have liked, and the caramel dip was thick, but over all still pretty good. The salad was phenomenal. It was a large serving and very flavorful! I loved the set up. They had water, plates, utensils, and boxes to serve yourself, but still brought the food out to you and picked up empty plates. This is the perfect set up to me, as I drink lots of water and hate bothering the staff.

My fave pizza lives here. For me, their pizza beats Rosalia by a hair. The pera pizza slaps! Pears, Gorgonzola, dill, and pine nuts is a winning combo. The empanadas are equally amazing. I've had both the carne and puerro. Omg, so good! I also love their De La Casa salad. Something about the candied pecans set it off, again with the Gorgonzola, yum. They have an awesome special for $49. You can try all of that plus pick a dessert. You get an empanada each, a huge portion of salad to share, a pizza to share, and for us we chose the churro donuts which was also a very generous portion. Had to take them home. Add a glass of wine, it pairs so well. You order at the counter, simple service and nice sit down, spacious spot at their downtown Mpls location.

My first visit to Boludo was a mixed experience. I didn't indulge in their most sought-after item, the pizza, but from an empanada perspective, I can't say I was entirely blown away. One of several marks that make an empanada spectacular is the filling-to-dough ratio. I'll seldom mention price as a factor because I enjoy paying for a good meal, regardless of what it is. However, quality and value are also important to me. I didn't feel that the quality of everything I ate made up for the value. I sampled the Messi, Pollo, and Carne. The pollo empanada was my absolute favorite as it definitely followed the empanada ratio-rule. Juicy, well-seasoned, and stuffed like a pillow, this chicken empanada was baked to a beautiful golden brown perfection, enjoyable from start to finish. The pastry dough was airy, crisp, and tender, with just the right thickness for the filling. I dipped this bite in their house-made Chimichurri sauce, which amplified the flavors of the chicken. I could've easily eaten several. 10/10, no notes. The Messi, Boludo's creation of a pizza empanada hybrid, was a bit messy. Because it's a fried empanada, the filling is steaming when you break into the empanada. The reggianito and mozzarella cheese filling ooze out, which may sound delicious, but along with a few slices of pepperoni, it's all the filling there is. So unfortunately, all of the filling fell on my plate, leaving me with empty empanada "husks" which I used to scoop up the filling. It was okay. I appreciate the attempt at an untraditional filling, but it wasn't a bite I'd necessarily suggest or order again. The carne empanada was the most disappointing of all. Stuffed with beef picadillo, ají molidos, and olives, this empanada crumbled at the first bite. Compared to the chicken empanada, which shares the same dough, there was a difference in taste solely in the dough. The dough of the beef empanada was chewy, dense, and very crumbly. The picadillo filling was abhorrently dry. It was an overall miss for me. Regarding the ambiance, I enjoyed my meal on their patio dining space while the sun was still toasty, which is an excellent option for people watching and enjoying views of the Twin Cities. This eatery is very casual. An option to consider if you're in the area and desire a quick, light bite. Offering counter-service only, you place your order, receive a number, and your food is brought to wherever you choose to sit. While there is no table service, drinks, cutlery, etc., may be brought to your table if you ask. The space indoors offers a few booths and tables for seating. There are lots of TVs inside playing different sports channels. Parking was challenging because there is only metered parking nearby, but Boludo is centrally located and also partners with a couple of food delivery services if you can't make it to them.

Boludo uses a fast casual style of ordering at the counter and food will be delivered to your table. I would suggest previous reviews on this place don't accurately capture the vibe. Ambiance is casual and more rustic at this location vs classy, trendy, or intimate. We tried Boludo during the recent heatwave and their AC could not keep up- it was pretty warm and uncomfortable inside to dine in. Perhaps this also tainted my view on the atmosphere. We ordered and shared the Porteno pizza ($24). It was a unique take on a pizza- sweeter sauce, lighter and fluffier dough/crust, and diamond shaped. It was good but not sure it was worth the value/price for size of pizza and overall product.

I don't travel to a new place and NOT try their pizza. Being from Buffalo, of course I think we have the best. Boludo would fit in perfect here, the pizza was excellent, absolutely loved it. We tried two, the Pera, which was pear and gorgonzola and the burrata and hot honey pepperoni! Both were delicious and surprisingly the Pera was my favorite! The crust was cooked the way I like, the toppings were flavorful. Definitely would be my go to pizza stop in MN.

Came here when I visited the city. It's not what I expected for pizza. I would call it more a flat bread. The sauce was very sweet. The bread was very thin and crispy. I ordered a salad and it was good, not great and they put it in a dish that made it fall off the serving plate. Metered parking on street. It's an order at register type of place.

I loved the theme and location of the place. Having the chairs outside is a really good option specially in that busy and pretty area. Loved to see that it was Argentinians running the place. The pizza was good. The crust was crunchy and the shredded cheese they used on top was what made this pizza go to the next level. The only thing that could be better is the amount of cheese on the pizza, but this may have been done intentionally since it's a brick oven pizza. Other than that, totally worth it!

So this has been one of my favorite pizza spots the last few years. They have a few different locations and I've been to the one downtown mpls and over south mpls. I love both but my recent visit was the downtown one. It is street parking and it's by the US Bank stadium so I usually do pick up. I have eaten inside before and its fine, people working their are always friendly and the food comes out quick. There's nothing special about the inside to make me wanna eat there though. I grabbed a few pizzas, pepperoni is my favorite! They have great empanadas and their donuts are delicious with the caramel sauce. Never a bad experience for my favorite pizza in Minnesota.

Prosciutto, cheese and arugula with Parmesan

We went there before the Vikings game and luckily got in and a table just before the rush. We had pizza, beer and a few shots. According to my daughter the shots were reasonably priced and I thought the beer was too. The pizzas came quickly and were really good. We had pepperoni and a prosciutto, cheese and arugulas pizza. Would definitely go again. Everybody knew their job and food arrived quickly.

It has a lively but comfortable atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy your meal. The staff was friendly and service was impressively quick from start to finish. We started with the app bread, which was super good and a great way to kick off the meal. I decided to order two pizzas and split both in half, which let me try four different varieties. It was definitely the right move. The bacon and golden pineapple pizza was one of my favorites. It was refreshing, had a nice little kick, and further confirmed that pineapple absolutely belongs on pizza. The lemon ricotta with goat cheese was also tasty, but the cheese was so rich that it started to dry out my mouth after a couple of slices. The meatball and ricotta pizza was a classic done really well. The meatballs were especially flavorful and clearly high quality. My favorite of the four was the hot salami and chili pepper pizza. It was absolutely divine with just enough heat, and the salami was perfectly crisped. The only downside to the pizzas was the crust. It was very thin, which made it difficult to hold all the toppings without them sliding off. There also was not much sauce, which made some bites feel a little dry. Overall, Black Sheep delivers creative and delicious pizzas in a fun atmosphere with fast, friendly service. Despite a few issues with the breading of the pizzas, I would definitely come back to try even more of the menu.

When my friend and I walked in, we came into a fairly spacious dimly lit space with loads of people inside. We were immediately informed that there would be over 1.5hr wait for a walk-in table. We were given the option to wait for bar seating as it would probably be quicker - and surely, it was. We did have to wait quite a bit, but it was a tolerable amount of time and definitely less than what it would have taken for an actual table. My friend and I decided to share 2 pizza pies as we wanted to get a taste of two different flavors, so we eventually settled on Korean BBQ & Perfect Pickle Pie. KOREAN BBQ As it was created by a Korean chef, it definitely had true authentic Korean flavors. As a Korean myself, I was very familiar with this soy vinaigrette and have tried this on many salad before - so, it was hitting home for me. Also, you can't go wrong with the bulgogi/beef short ribs known to all those who had Korean BBQ before. The combination of the sauces that they use for this pizza is definitely very rich, full of umami. I personally enjoyed it. PERFECT PICKLE PIE This pie was a totally different flavor to the Korean BBQ. It's less rich and maybe can be overpowered or considered more bland compared to other pizza flavors. But when tried together with the BBQ, it balances out the richness of the BBQ with the more subtle/less umami flavors. This pie gives more of a tangy/sour taste that pickles provide and more of a crunch due to the chips that are added on top. The dill is present, but not overpowering. It's a nice low-key kind of taste that people who like pickles will enjoy. Overall, the flavors were very rich in every pizza pie that we had that our mouths were bursting with flavor. It was definitely the most unique pizza toppings that I've had and can see why it's so highly regarded. I can tell that they really are meticulous with their every process and that their pizza guy by the wood fire oven is expertise in what he does. My friend and I walked out quite satisfied and I was honestly more full than I expected.

Perfectly al dente noodles with a unique almost cup shape that gave a nice bite of noodle and sauce together. The sauce was delicious! Dislike the yakitori - felt like there was little to no value here. You pay $7 per skewer which contains barely 3 bites of chicken. It was pretty average tasting too. Wouldn't waste the money. Like and dislike the Duck Tataki - delicious in flavor, nice and fatty, ponzu and mango added a great flavor. Disliked that for $22 you get hardly 4-5 bites of duck. Tiny tiny skinny bites mind you. Felt like the value wasn't there for this fish given how good it actually tasted. I'd look elsewhere on the menu. Overall, given what we liked, the ambience and staff, I am giving this a 5/5. If money isn't a factor then come here and go crazy, but if value matters then stray away from the yakitori and Duck Tataki, just my 2 cents.

As first-time visitors, it was very unclear whether we were supposed to seat ourselves or order at the counter, and we didn't receive much direction when we asked. Everything is very self-serve, including grabbing your own plates and water, which is totally fine once you know the process, but better communication would really improve the experience. Overall, we enjoyed the pizza and appreciated the creative style, though vegetarian options were somewhat limited. We'd likely return and just know what to expect next time.
