Boludo specializes in pizza, but with an Argentinian twist. In January 2025, Dave Portnoy visited Boludo's Miami location (now closed), and rated the pizza a 7.8/10. The rating seemed low, so I had to try it for myself. My wife and I went to the original location in the Kingfield neighborhood of Minneapolis. We got 3 empanadas, a pizza, flan, and churro donuts. The menu features 7 empanadas. Of those, we tried the carne, jamón y queso, and the Messi. The carne was my favorite, but all 3 were worth getting. So much so, I'd come here for the empanadas alone. As for the pizza, we kept it simple and got the pepperoni. Boludo's pizza is like none other I've ever seen before. It's somewhat oval shaped, but with 4 corners, and has cheese heavily sprinkled over the crust. Aside from being a bit greasy, the pizza was solid, and better than the 7.8 Dave Portnoy gave it. Similar to the pizza, the flan had a unique presentation, as well. Rather than a slice or its typical round appearance, Boludo's flan is served in a jar and topped with candied pecans. It was rich, but that didn't stop me from gobbling it all down. Lastly, we had the churro donuts. These were reminiscent of cider mill donuts, but better. The donuts didn't need a dip, but the dulce de leche it came with was enjoyable. Boludo didn't miss on any of the items we ordered. Not only did I find the overall experience to be unique, I was genuinely impressed, as well. As strange as it sounds, make sure to check out the bathroom if/when you visit!
I ordered from Boludo because they had a two for one cheese pizza special. This is fantastic pizza! I haven't even ordered from any of the other pizza places in the Minneapolis area. I would like to try others but this is so good. I ordered Uber Eats. I highly recommend giving this place a try.
Been seeing the pizza here on social media a lot and wanted to check it out. We went on a Sunday shortly after it opened. It's a smaller restaurant but they do have a few tables to dine in. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. We ordered a pepperoni pizza, margarita pizza, pizza empanada and the churro donuts. Everything was really good! I really like the sweetness of the sauce and how it balances with the cheesy crust. The vibes here were really cool. They had good music playing and at first they had a soccer game on but seen my mom had her Vikings gear on and without asking or mentioning anything, they change the tv to the Vikings game, which was nice. For sure want to come back and try more.
Tried Boludo Pizza in Southwest Minneapolis and really enjoyed the unique Argentine-inspired concept. The margherita pizza itself was very tasty, and the cheese-covered crust definitely makes for a striking presentation. That said, the shredded cheese on the crust was a bit overwhelming and took away from actually enjoying the crust itself. Our biggest issue was honestly the customer service and overall flow of the restaurant. As first-time visitors, it was very unclear whether we were supposed to seat ourselves or order at the counter, and we didn't receive much direction when we asked. Everything is very self-serve, including grabbing your own plates and water, which is totally fine once you know the process, but better communication would really improve the experience. Overall, we enjoyed the pizza and appreciated the creative style, though vegetarian options were somewhat limited. We'd likely return and just know what to expect next time.
Upon arriving we circled the block to find parking. You enter, order at the counter and find a seat. A bit cramped inside as they tried to maximize meeting in this small space. Water, side plates and utensils are self serve, at the station just inside the door. 2 stars for service because there really isn't any and the employees don't talk or engage with you. Pepperoni pizza came out and was A+ for presentation. Flavor was just ok, dough was so thin that toppings were falling off and it just became a gooey mess. 6/10 Chicken and beef empanadas were good, the dough was perfect and the side of chimichurri was tasty. The beef was a bit greasy with grease dripping out after the first bite. 8/10 Caesar salad looked amazing. Unfortunately it was so heavily dressed with lemon I couldn't taste anything else. Literally. My mouth was all puckered as if I had just eaten sour candy. At $16 a salad (and I was starving) I ate it anyway. 2/10 Assortment of beer and seltzers available. Sodas (bottled) run $3.50. Overall just an average experience. Not worth the drive or hassle for parking, and the salad was definitely a huge disappointment.
Stopped in after a MN Vikings game and was able to sit upstairs right away. First time here. Lots of tables and fun circular booths. Upstairs has a lot of long table seating. You order food at the entrance and they bring the food to you. You have a number at your table. You will need that number when you order. I had the Campo. Argentinian Chorizo and onion. Yo!!! This was bomb. We also had the Carne and the Pollo empanada. The chimichurri sauce on the side was good but not needed. The flaky empanadas had a lot of flavor and filled with carne or chicken. I left here full to the brim! I will be back to try other pizzas.
Stopped in after afternoon dancing. Parking was a little hard to find. The pork empanada was fresh and delicious with a yumny sauce. The donuts were fresh and tasted amazing. I was set on getting the donuts, but they only had a large serving, so better if you're with a group. They reheated later and still tasted pretty great. The prices weren't listed, so I had to ask about pricing and the empanada seemed a little pricey for its size. In my experience, any restaurant that does not make it easy to find prices is often on the more expensive end. Check. Employees were nice and there was a little seating inside and out. Overall, yummy, freshly made food.
Delicious Pizza and Empanadas! This was my first experience with Argentine food and it was fabulous. The cute decor and unique flavors added some fun to our lunch date. Ambiance was (4/5). This tiny restaurant was decorated so beautifully with personal and cultural elements sprinkled in. I loved it! However, I hated that the bathrooms only had black lighting available. Next time, I'll use the facilities at home before coming to this restaurant. I felt so creeped out by the darkness of their bathroom. Service was cafeteria style. The person who took our order was friendly, but I'm not sure if there was a language barrier resulting in a small error in our order (we received Espinaca instead of Puerro empanadas). Campo Pizza (5/5) the chorizo and caramelized onion flavors danced on my tongue. SO much mozzarella that we got full and had to take half of it home. Argentinian chorizo, mushroom, onion, mozzarella, and san marzano. Espinaca Empanada (5/5) We actually ordered Puerro Empanadas but we weren't mad bc these were SO delicious. The melt cheese was amazing and the crust was buttery and crisp. Spinach, fresno peppers, and reggianito cheese. Carne Empanadas (4/5) Only order these if you like the taste of green olives, bc they overpower the other flavors. Same buttery pastry crust. Beef picadillo, ají molido, and olives. The accompanying Chimichurri sauce had a nice spice to it, but I actually preferred the empanadas without it.
We had a great experience at boludo. We've heard good things about boludo and wanted to see for ourselves and it absolutely lived up to the height. We got the campo pizza, ham and cheese, and beef empanadas and the churro donuts. It was absolutely WAY too much food for 2 people so we took a lot to go, but we really enjoyed everything. The pizza is incredible in my opinion, rich and savory with a literal mountain of shredded cheese on top. Just the way I like it. Definitely felt like a new style of pizza, but absolutely stands up to a classic definition of pizza. the empanadas were tasty too, we liked the ham and cheese one the best but enjoyed the beef empanadas as well. the churro donuts were incredible, highly recommend them. they're soft, chewy and so dang tasty!! will be back soon!! it's a very small interior, but they have outside tables as well. it definitely was giving Argentinian sports bar inside with a full on shrine to soccer. would be a great place to watch a game and drink beer with a friend.
Ever since Boludo popped up in the Twin Cities I've been very curious to try it out. The long oval shaped pizza with an Argentinian spin on it, I was quite intrigued. One cloudy afternoon two friends and I set sail for Boludo's South Minneapolis location. We got there and were welcomed by the aroma of empanadas and pizza, my mouth already salivating; I quickly dissect the menu. As an avid pepperoni lover, I hastily settled on their pepperoni pizza. We all ordered pepperoni and it was out in roughly 20 minutes. The first bite was a blast full of flavor, the san marzano tomatoes made the marinara sweeter than what I'm used to. I liked the sweetness at first, but after eating a whole pie of it I become slightly overwhelmed by the sweetness. The crust is crispy and done just right, everything about this pizza was great except the marinara. Overall I would recommend trying this spot and will have to go back for their empanadas, which I have heard nothing but good things about.
Ordered the pepperoni pizza & Cesar salad. Both were delish. Around 35 bucks for the two items. I gave both a 4.5/5 rating. I really enjoyed the grated cheese on both dishes. Cesar salad had a little bit of a fishy taste so this may be more of an authentic Cesar than you get elsewhere. Pizza had a sweeter sauce than I'm used to but it was excellent. Pretty small dining area & order at cash register btw. Service was alright. One thing to be aware of is the bathroom is like being in a laser tag game. You cannot see much in there since the bulb is a black light. Kinda cool tbh I'd recommend this spot
Was craving pizza and decided to take my young sons to this pizza place! It did not disappoint! There is free street parking. The inside has a very sporty and "hole in the wall" vibe. It was very clean and as soon as someone got up, there was an employee cleaning the table! Very impressed! You order at the counter and then they bring it out to you. The service here was lovely! They even included a beef empanada that I didn't order to try! The chicken and beef empanada's were delicious! The pepperoni pizza was definitely something I would come back for! It is thin and greasy, which sounds bad but the cheeses were rich and sooooo tasty! This is not a pizza you eat when you are counting calories/ dieting haha. The churro doughnuts were fantastic! The dulce de leche sauce compliments these so well! I'll definitely be thinking about those till I get them again haha. Definitely give this place a try!!
Ordered through DoorDash and was genuinely impressed--this is truly great pizza. It's rare for takeout to be this good, and now I definitely want to visit in person. We ordered the Porteño (meat pizza) and the Peras (vegetarian) since our son is vegetarian, and both were excellent. Even the leftovers held up wonderfully--reheated in an air fryer, they tasted fantastic. We also tried the churro donuts. On their own they were okay, but with the sauce, they were really good. Highly recommended for pizza lovers, and a great pairing with your favorite beverage--beer, wine, or a non-alcoholic choice read more

The food was excellent. We ordered a salad two salads. The Caesars in another salad empanadas in a council service was wonderful. The atmosphere was really clean and they have an outside patio as well. Very nice. read more

Stopped by for lunch and could not have been more excited!! We tried a carne empanada and pizza!! The empanada was incredible. So much flavor! The pizza was perfection. Light and airy crust. Service was easy and Fast!! We will be back!! read more

5-star food with a few pickup hiccups! We have been dying to try Boludo for ages now, and were finally in the area on a Friday night and ready to try. We decided to call in for pickup. When I arrived, I was shocked at how small the space is! But where it lacks in size, it makes up for in character. This is a darling little spot and so cozy, with ambiance lighting and fun Argentinian decor. You order at the counter, so it has a fast casual feel but definitely elevated food. Their menu is pretty straight-forward: the stars are definitely their pizzas and empanadas. We ordered the pepperoni pizza, a peras (pear) gluten-free pizza, and a chicken empanada. Unfortunately, the team was slammed when I arrived and my order was incorrect - I checked it and realized it once I'd gotten to the car that I was missing a pizza and an empanada. I turned back around and they got my order updated and on my way. Only to find out when we got home...the order was still incorrect: the wrong pizza and empanada. I went back in a second time, and made sure to check onsite - and all was correct! Third time was a charm, and the team handled the mistakes swiftly and professionally, but it still costed me 30+ minutes of back and forth. Our cares faded away when we tasted the food. The gluten-free pizza was unlike any I've had: thick, hearty, and delicious - and the peras topping was unreal. My partner loved his pepperoni pizza - especially the crust topped with cheese, salt, and olive oil. The chicken empanada was good, but we preferred the pizza. My only qualm with the pizzas were the steep prices and lacking protein. I'd love to see more meat-topping options so you feel more satiated post-pizza! But besides our pickup mishap and that, I'd gladly eat at Boludo again (maybe for dine-in instead) and recommend it to others. read more

Place has such a cool vibe! However, I wish there was more comfortable seating. Small dining area. Food was delicious! Super cheesy, even the crust was stuffed! Staff was pleasant and food came out pretty quick! read more

Loveeee this pizza ! Taste was perfect and I love their freshness about it. Very different from origins pizza. Not an ideal place for sit and chill place, probably in summer, when we can sit outside. Pretty small inside. Will take out for sure. read more

The atmosphere, the service, the FOOD! This place is amazing. I had the pepperoni pizza and it was great. The sauce is a little on the sweeter side if you are into that. The friends I went with had the empanadas and were very impressed. We also had the churro donuts.. they were a little too salty for my liking, but I can see why others enjoyed it. The Caesar salad was okay, a little on the sweeter side. I would definitely come back for the pizza and to try the empanadas. read more

I'll admit it, I am Argentinian so my standards are really high. Man was I disappointed with boludo, very underwhelming. Three empanadas and a Coke for $25? And they weren't even good! I got a "Messi" empanada, it was glorified frozen pizza roll. The ham & cheese ones were nothing spectacular either. I was expecting to see fútbol on the TV, especially when a big game (Boca/San Lorenzo) is on. I asked the guy inside if they were going to put the game on and he replied "what game?" He wasn't even Argentinian, he sounded Mexican. He searched for the game but couldn't "get the app to work". I had it at that point and just left, never again. read more
Had to fly into Minneapolis recently and we were hungry as soon as we got into town. Glad yelp led us to Boludo because if they opened up in California, this place would make a killing! We (4 of us) shared the Cesar Salad, a couple of the empanadas, and Sarandara and Porteno pizzas. The cesar salad was fantastic; tossed in their boludo dressing, got hints of citrus/lemon, briny anchovies (not sure if its in the dressing), the spicy bread crumbs were nice... it was a SOLID salad! We also did not realize the size of the pizza, but we were able to finish it all lol Both packed a punch of unique flavors with a hint of sweetness. Service was quick, food was delicious, the bathrooms were interesting with a black light as the main source of light... but I'm looking forward to coming back next time I'm in town. read more
This is the BEST pizza I've ever had!! So fresh and packed with flavor. Since it's a bit of a drive, it's definitely my #1 request for special occasions. We haven't sat down in the restaurant yet, but from the pics, it looks like it would be a cool spot. We love the online ordering for convenient pick up, though!! Our daughter had been to this restaurant but at the downtown Minneapolis location. This location is a little closer to the Mall of America (12-15 min drive depending on traffic). Despite the meaning of the restaurant name that some may be familiar with, the food at this place is incredibly tasty and so fresh! Prices are great and portion sizes were perfect! Service wasn't the most friendly but smaller businesses like this tend to have that personality. Decor is focused on soccer but in a fun classy way. If you're in Minneapolis, definitely worth the stop! read more
We got all the empanadas to go (except the ham and cheese), and they were still nice and hot even after the walk back to our hotel. Our favorite empanadas were the carne and humita! I also loved the churro donuts, but I thought the dulce de leche was a little too sweet. read more
Stopped by this place for lunch with the wife and kids., Smaller than I thought it would be but clean and bright. Lots of windows with natural light. They have a small drink and food menu with a decent variety of items. We ordered the margarita and peras pizzas and carne, pollo and espinaca empanadas. Ordered a beer and finished off the meal with the churro donuts dessert. The pizzas were good. Nice crust and a good mix of sauce and cheese and other ingredients for the pizza. The Peras was not quite what I expected but and interesting combination of flavors. The margarita was one of the best ones I have had in the cities. The empanadas were all very good. Flaky outside and packed on the inside. The spinach was our favorite. The churro donuts were a nice end to the meal. Came with a chocolate dipping sauce that enhanced the sweetness of the donuts. Will be checking out again and try one of the other vegetarian pizza options. Recommended if you are looking for something different when it comes to your pizzas. read more

My close friends have been raving about this place for a little while now. This evening was our night to enjoy quality bestie time, accompanied by delicious pizza, Cesar salad, and dessert (my favorite part!). The Cesar salad was great. The amount of cheese on this was actually comical to me. However, it's very good and light. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and peras pizza. The crust is perfect. Cooked to perfection, crispy and thick but not thick heavy tasting. The flavor of the peras pizza was very good. I Would have never thought I'd ever order a pizza with pears on it. The gorgonzola wasn't overpowering, just perfect. Flavors come together so well. The pepperoni pizza was great too. The only thing I thought was the crust was a little salty, likely because of the cheese on the crust; but still good. Now onto dessert, yup, my favorite part. Do not skip on dessert, I repeat, do not skip on dessert. The churro mini donuts are ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. Served warm coated in cinnamon and sugar with a caramel sauce to dip them in. Only suggestion, ordered an extra get side of caramel sauce (if you like to dip- a lot). The flan was good too. The topping is just so yummy with the generous amount of pecans and caramel. It's served in a cute mason jar. Service was fine. Staff really didn't say much but take your order. However, I asked about a pizza I saw on Tik Tok that had cheese stuffed in the crust, the gal at the counter looked at me like I was nuts and made that up. She said none of their pizzas had cheese stuffed in the crust, but seemed like she was unsure about it. FYI- that's incorrect- it's the FUGAZZETTA pizza that has cheese stuffed in the crust. This is a small restaurant with a few tables inside and a small area on the boulevard for outside seating. Also, the most unique restroom I've ever been in. No lie, It's like a party in there with the music blasting, decor on the walls, and black lights. Overall, great experience. I'll be back definitely for the churro mini donuts, pizza, and maybe even to try a pollo empanada. read more
Loved Boludo for a quick lunch with friends. Have you been to one of their locations? They have several smaller restaurants throughout the city serving food with a taste of Buenos Aires. I enjoyed their empanadas. If you like olives get the carne. The pizza is good, but it's a very thin crust and well...... I was still hungry after sharing. Get your own lol. Those of you that have ordered for two, how much food did you get? We're thinking a pizza for sure but going back and forth on how many empanadas we should add.
One pizza is good for two, but I wouldn't split empanadas
Is there anything keto friendly on the menu?
My answer would be no. It's not an extensive menu and they don't really do modifications. We eat here when we know we're going to carb load.
