Porzana really nails the date night vibe with its dark, moody ambiance. From the moment you walk in to when you leave, the staff makes you feel genuinely welcomed. Every server we've had has been friendly, attentive, and great at giving recommendations. The food is unreal. Easily some of the best in the area. A few favorites are the chipas, pork empanadas, glazed carrots, and the agnolotti pasta. And of course, the steaks are a highlight. I love that they offer grass-fed options. We've tried a few cuts, including the Australian wagyu and Zabuton with béarnaise, and everything has been perfectly cooked, super tender, and well seasoned. The papas aplastadas are another must. Salty, creamy, and perfect for sharing. The only downside for me is dessert. The options feel a bit limited and nothing really stands out compared to how strong the rest of the menu is. But honestly, with food this good, it's hard to even save room. Overall, an incredible spot for a night out with amazing food, great service, and a really well done atmosphere.

My friend and I came her last night to celebrate her birthday. Jake was our waiter and he was fantastic! So knowledgeable about the menu, friendly, and knew his wine! I have a gluten allergy and they had a separate GF menu. We started off with a couple of cocktails - mango!mango!mango! and between the sheets. The mango!x3 had a lovely smokey flavor to it that wasn't overwhelmed with the taste of tequila. For appetizers we ordered a dozen oysters, and a bread basket. They were able to make it half gluten free (udi's brand) and half sourdough. The brown butter it came with was to die for! We received complimentary chipas (also GF) which was a nice surprise. They were soft and cheesy, and paired very nicely with the mojo picon sauce that had a spicy kick to it. For our main entree we ordered the grass finished hanger and the entraña steaks, medium rare. Both were cooked perfectly. The entraña was tender and paired nicely with the chimichurri sauce. The hanger steak paired nicely with the au poivre sauce. For our dessert we received complimentary gelato. Jake was so appreciated and made sure we had a great time! We had an awesome experience at Porzana and highly recommend coming here.

Almost 5 stars (really a 4.5). Known for its steak and Argentinian beef cuts, Porzana also offers inspired options across poultry, seafood, and veggies. There is something for everyone. The sea bass is a personal favorite. Quintessential north loop vibe and dining space with top notch hosts and servers. Limited dessert options. Bread basket is extra. Pro tip: check out the speakeasy (Flora Room) at the back of the building for a pre meal cocktail or post meal nightcap.

happy (delicious) belated birthday to me safe to say Porzana was worth the wait (& weight) I'll be thinking about this one for a long time! the finest meal I can think of to start off my 27th year and grateful to spend it with my two favorite guys! seats were jampacked, wine was flowing & each plate was sent back totally clean. I totally understand why people obsess over this place and I'll be counting down the days until my next milestone so I can come back our s: 2 natural oysters for me beef tartare - to die for, just wish the bread was a little bit thinner. sooooo much flavor!!! empanadas - no notes. mafaldini estofado - superb, rich & so shareable 16oz grain finished ribeye - paired with all kinds of sauces to mix with, incredible to say the least! complementary dessert & champagne to sip on! agh, I want a do-over......

Went here for my birthday and it was a special celebration kind of place! They started us off with a complimentary glass of champagne for each my wife and I which was super cool! They really know their stuff there and helped us out with what steak to order. Everything else was incredible, my wife still talks about the mushroom tortellini. I think we'll be going back for her birthday! The place has a nice romantic dim lit feel to it with nice brick accents. We felt at home and cozy at our table while enjoying some 5 star quality food!

During my first visit to Porzana, all I could think was: what took me so long to get here? What a wonderful experience! From beginning to end--even on an incredibly busy Friday night--I had one of the most delightful dinners. To start, the ambiance is top tier: elegant décor, moody lighting, soft music. It all comes together to create an intimate, romantic vibe. Our table wasn't quite ready when we arrived, so we were escorted to the bar where seats had been set aside for us. We enjoyed some of the best cocktails prepared by the incredible mixologist, Anthony, who kept the drinks flowing effortlessly. A busy bar, but beautiful pours every single time. We sipped on: - Gigi: cute and lethal. - Solana: not for the faint of heart. - El Diablo: as spicy as the name suggests. - Old Fashioned: old faithful. - "Anthony's Off Menu" mix: orange, chocolate, Belvedere blend. After some time, we were transferred to our table. Although the tables are somewhat close together, this is a place that's easy to settle in and get lost in your own little world. We had the loveliest server, who gave a phenomenal first impression by introducing herself, walking us through the menu, making thoughtful recommendations, and chatting with us just enough to answer questions without rushing. Truly outstanding hospitality. For dinner we enjoyed: - Caviar Buñuelo: a crispy, fried buñuelo topped with caviar--the app that will live rent-free in my mind until I have it again. - Natural oysters in bone marrow flambadou. - Dressed oysters with chili vinegar & basil oil. - Tagliatelle lobster in brown butter: could happily eat this twice daily. - Papas aplastadas. - Picanha with spicy chimichurri: tender, juicy, and melts in your mouth. The meal was unreal. My only regret was skipping dessert--but we were so full and genuinely happy with everything we'd eaten that it just wasn't possible. I guess that's the perfect excuse to go back again.

I'm obsessed with their food, especially the pasta and steak, they're both good. I can't remember exactly what I ordered last time, but I definitely snapped a few pics to keep track of my favorites! The dishes always look incredible, which makes them taste even better. One thing to keep in mind is that it gets super crowded at night since it's in downtown, so I recommend making a reservation. And of course, I had to treat myself to their Old Fashioned, it never disappoints! If you haven't been here yet, you've gotta check it out. You won't regret it!

This was the perfect place to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we received complimentary wine to start our dinner. We went in August and sat outside since they have a nice outdoor dining space. The food was fantastic. Both of the steaks we ordered were amazing. The tuna crudo and the burrata were great. The service was attentive and well paced. This is one of my new favorite restaurants and would definitely dine here again. I highly recommend this to anyone celebrating something special or just want a nice dinner.

OK, hands down, this is some of the best food I've had in the Minneapolis area. I'd heard about this place from multiple people and my hotel bartender, which, let's be honest, is basically Michelin-level validation. If someone who pours drinks for a living tells you where to eat, you listen. We showed up on a Wednesday night, but looking around, you'd swear it was Saturday at 7 PM. The place was PACKED. The waitlist was at least an hour long, but thankfully we had a reservation because my hanger level cannot handle that kind of test. They sat us near the kitchen, which I didn't mind, but the table right next to the kitchen seemed like it needed a traffic cone and hazard lights. People kept avoiding it like it was haunted. Then came the appetizers. Specifically, the grilled shrimp. HOLY. WOW. If I could write an ode to these shrimp, I would. These little crustaceans were sent from heaven, or at least from a chef who deeply understands my soul. They came out whole, topped with cilantro, crispy garlic, and some magical sauce mixture that I can only describe as "give me more immediately." I had to physically restrain myself from licking the plate. Zero shame. For my main dish, I ordered the Malfadini Estofado. Handmade noodles, short ribs, tomato, Parmesan, basically everything my carb loving heart dreams about at night. The noodles had that perfect al dente chew, and the short rib sauce was rich and comforting enough to heal emotional wounds. Amazing. Service? Also fantastic. Our server was funny, warm, and on top of everything. And the WATER SERVICE? Listen. If there is one thing I love, it's not having to ration my water like I'm trekking across the desert. Someone was always coming by to refill glasses. Bless them. I am absolutely coming back, if not solely for those legendary shrimp. Go here. Love it. Order everything. And definitely lick the plate (I won't judge).

Who would have thought that I would have to fly to Minneapolis and Porzana would be one of my top 10 dining experiences and being a Yelp Elite for 10 years, says a lot. I did make reservations on Resy because I did not want to chance a walk in for my party. Ambiance: 5 stars. Very intimate but not "stuffy". A small location so I wouldn't suggest for large groups. Service: 5 stars. Walker B. Was on it tonight. All recommendations were perfect for our family of 4. Food: to die for! I'm still thinking about it in Florida. The table which consisted of 3 adults and one toddler and we shared the dishes. We had the Grain Finished Ribeye Steak, the empanadas (2), the Caesar salad with fries oysters, the tuna crudo, and the mafaldini estofado- which is a short rib pasta. Every single dish was amazing! My 5 year old even enjoyed every single dish! My mother that doesn't like raw fish enjoyed the tuna. It was filling. The drinks were good but the star is the food. It is pricey to dine here but it was worth it.

The most delicious and beautiful tiramisu I've ever had!

Porzana is an amazing Argentinian restaurant - no wonder they were recently chosen as one of the top 100 Yelp restaurants. My colleagues and I had dinner here on a Wednesday night. I called ahead and made a reservation - so glad I did. It was very busy, even though it a week night, but we luckily got seated immediately upon arrival. Our server, Brittany, was super friendly and attentive. She gave us great recommendations, and we ordered pretty much everything she suggested. The spicy scallops ceviche was so fresh and it had just right amount of heat to it. The spring mix salad was so refreshing and delicious that I couldn't stop eating it. For the main course, I shared a wagyu steak, which was cooked perfectly, and the lobster pasta with my colleague. They were both excellent. We were quite full but ordered a tiramisu to share, which was not only delicious but beautiful! I was too hungry to take pics of the appetizers and main course but remembered to snap the tiramisu (while happily in food coma and a little tipsy too). Argentinian beer was nicely chilled and light, which was perfect for a warm evening. We also share a bottle of Chilean red that was so good and I wish I snapped a pic of the label. The restaurant has a great interior with exposed bricks and beams. They also have a terrace for outdoor seating, I think. The place gets a bit noisy but we were seated in the back by the kitchen, so it wasn't too bad. It was a Five-star experience for both food and service. I highly recommend it!

I don't frequent steakhouses, but I was pleasantly surprised by this one! I really enjoyed this restaurant because I think even if you don't eat steak often, they have a host of other dishes to choose from that will be filling enough. The restaurant itself is quite sizeable but it's best to make a reservation. We ordered the Chilean sea bass, empanadas, a set of oysters, glazed carrots, and 6 oz steak for 3 people. All of it was delicious and wonderfully seasoned. The sea bass was flaky and melt in your mouth. The steak was also the perfect texture. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion!

The margherita pizza itself was very tasty, and the cheese-covered crust definitely makes for a striking presentation. That said, the shredded cheese on the crust was a bit overwhelming and took away from actually enjoying the crust itself. Our biggest issue was honestly the customer service and overall flow of the restaurant. As first-time visitors, it was very unclear whether we were supposed to seat ourselves or order at the counter, and we didn't receive much direction when we asked. Everything is very self-serve, including grabbing your own plates and water, which is totally fine once you know the process, but better communication would really improve the experience. Overall, we enjoyed the pizza and appreciated the creative style, though vegetarian options were somewhat limited. We'd likely return and just know what to expect next time.

If you're anywhere near Southeast Minneapolis and craving something warm, flaky, and comforting,…read moreDelSur Empanadas is the place to go. I stopped by on a warm evening following the Legacy Cup, and the smell alone was worth the trip -- buttery pastry and savory fillings drifting out the door. The empanadas are the real deal -- perfectly golden on the outside, with just the right amount of crunch before you hit the soft, flavorful center. My favorites were the beef (rich, perfectly seasoned, with just enough spice) and the caprese (melty cheese, tomato, and basil that somehow feels both indulgent and fresh). Not to mention their french fries have that same golden crispy affect as well! Their chimichurri sauce is liquid gold. I ended up dipping everything in it -- no regrets. The staff was friendly and genuinely seemed excited to talk about their food, which made the experience even better. The space itself is cozy and bright, with a relaxed vibe that makes it easy to hang out for a bit, grab a mate or a local beer, and take your time. Prices are super reasonable for the quality -- you can easily have a filling meal for under $15. I do recommend this place however if you want to wash it down with a beverage, be aware of Malcolm yards costs.

She's from Peru and she had cravings for some of her favorite childhood pastries, especially Alfajores. We ordered 3 kinds of pastries for a New Year's party. It was my first time trying all of them. They were GREAT! The sweet style pastries are quite a bit different from some of the traditional European-style pastries that we're all familiar with. Paola, the owner, is super friendly and charming. I had a blast talking to her when we picked up our order. She sells her pastries at several farmer's markets around the metro. She also delivers and caters special events. Finally, you can place an order on-line or over the phone and pick it up at her house. Paola operates the business out of her personal house on Gerard Avenue South in Minneapolis. So DON'T just show up at her front door unannounced. But she'll definitely schedule pickups at her house if it's convenient for you. Also, if you do a Google search, her address might come up in White Bear Lake. This is a commercial kitchen (not open to the public) where she makes all of her goodies. She's totally legal with all of the correct licensing, public health training, etc. I grilled her about this when first ordered from her...and she's good-to-go. My only (minor) gripe is her pastries are a little pricey. We got 3 dozen items (12 beef Empanadas and 24 sweet pastries) for $64.00. It was supposed to be $70. But we got a 6 dollar discount (50 cents each) because we wanted the Empanadas uncooked so we could cook them ourselves at our party. If you don't mind spending a little more money on something new, I highly recommend that you try them. You can call, e-mail, or message Paola...or find her at one of the farmer's markets in the summer. Try some Criollas Pastries -- yum!!! -Daddy Maxx Retro P.S. A 2022 recipient of the Mpls-St. Paul Magazine Golden Fork Award winner, El Cubano is a casual eatery serving traditional Cuban and Dominican small bites, such as empanadas, tequeños, croquettes, sandwiches, and entrees. All meals are cooked to order, so expect a wait as your order is being prepared. This cuisine is intended to be savored fresh, not reheated. After you place your order at the counter, you may choose indoor or outdoor seating while you wait for your meal. During this visit, I had the delight to indulge in: - "Chicken Croquettes": a savory, breaded fritter stuffed with chicken. - "Chicken Empanada": flour dough, fried, stuffed with shredded chicken and cheese. Remarkably delicious! - "Beef Empanada": flour dough, fried, stuffed with minced beef and cheese. - "Pan Con Bistec con Yuca Frita y Mojo": Steak Sandwich loaded with tomatoes, lettuce, potato sticks, mayo, and a thin beef steak, served in between two slices of Cuban bread. My side choice was fried yucca, served with a "mojo": a traditional sauce made from a cooked onion-garlic mixture. - "Picadillo con Moro y Maduros": Mined beef served with "moro", which is a combination of white rice and black beans, cooked together. The maduros are sweet, ripe, yellow plantains that are fried but, due to their sweetness and texture, remain soft even after frying. Paired with the moro and a bit of the picadillo, this meal is a transcendent bite that will have you achieving flow state in no time. - "Ropa Vieja con Arroz Blanco, y Maduros:" Stewed, shredded beef cooked with bell peppers, tomatoes, and onions. This traditional Cuban dish, which translates into "old clothes", is anything but what the name suggests. The tenderness and juiciness of the shredded beef, scooped up with a ball of white rice and sweet plantains, are ethereal, and it's a dish I highly recommend if you're seeking immediate culinary comfort. El Cubano is proof that delectable, authentic Latin-Caribbean cuisine doesn't have to be complicated and can be accessible anywhere in the world with the right hands at the helm. The owner of El Cubano, who is also the cashier and server, has put this restaurant on the map in the Twin Cities. Her culinary roots, blended with her gift for cooking, her understanding of seasons, and her use of fresh ingredients to recreate popular Cuban and Dominican comfort dishes, are truly remarkable. El Cubano doesn't take shortcuts, and you can taste the quality of love poured into this food.

Most of the existing reviews highlight the meat dishes (which looked amazing, to be fair), so I thought I'd share a vegetarian perspective. I got the vegetarian plate and all of the components were notably fresh and super flavorful. I am glad I asked if they had any hot sauce or salsa on my way out with my to-go order, because the salsa they provided was definitely the cherry on the top of my meal. The yuca fries were so fresh and perfectly fried, but not suuper favorable (as one would expect with most fried root vegetables). So I'd suggest pairing their awesome texture and freshness with a chosen form of sauce, salsa, etc. They are going to be a hit with any kids in your party, for sure!
