It was great. Tender but not chewy and very enjoyable. We each had a salad which met expectations (fresh, well put together). Then they provided a choice of any dessert as a birthday gift. We chose the baked Alaska, which was flambéed table side, had a great choice of ice cream, and a killer merengue. SERVICE: amazing. Friendly, attentive, and just overall met all the needs of a birthday celebration. It was acknowledged by the host, wait staff, and before arriving when calling to confirm the reservation. First time in the lounge, and I loved it much better than the steakhouse seating. The lightning and fireplace is just more cozy. My second time having meatballs, not sure if it's a meant to be thing, but they don't always come warm. Still good meatballs nonetheless, and I still eat the whole thing lol. Mushrooms were so tasty! Probably my favorite side of all that I've tried. Sorbet flavors seem to change, but both times have been on the sour sweet side. This time it was a lime sorbet with their sour cherry and coconut toppings. The sundae remains classic vanilla with chocolate sauce and peanuts if you like a sweet only treat. Really cool place. Has a steakhouse vibe and is located in an old hotel now converted apartment complex. Started with a Cesar salad. Wasn't really impressed but the croutons were homemade and tasted good. Got the 10 oz shoulder steak. Was really juicy and flavorful. Got a curry béarnaise sauce that was unique but surprisingly worked. Got the aligot potatoes which are a must have. The lobster Mac n cheese left more to be desired. Overall I would say it's one of the best if not best steaks I've had in the twin cities. What I appreciated most was the handmade card for our anniversary. Parking is very limited. Great food. We weee there for restaurant week. Started with the meatball appetizer. Very salty but in a good way. Great flavor on them. We then had the dry aged shoulder steak and Aligot potatoes. The potatoes were amazing. Creamy and cheesy and delicious. Undoubtedly full of butter and cream and cheese. ;). The steak was amazingly tender. I worried that maybe when it said shoulder steak that it would be tough. It was not. Perfectly cooked and incredibly tender. We concluded with a hot five sundae. Really good also. I love love love steak. I could never be a vegetarian. So when it was my turn to pick for a business dinner, I said I wanted a steakhouse and my friend chose this restaurant. First, parking here sucks. They do have a valet. Otherwise it's good luck with street parking. If you don't have the patience to spend 20 minutes looking for a spot, plan to valet. Second, the restaurant itself is within a larger building. It is very beautiful and very elegant. But you actually have to walk into the lobby before you reach the restaurant. As you enter there is a separate cocktail bar. Very very lovely spot. All kinds of romantic ambiance. The cocktails here were good - very traditional - as was the dark wood and big chandelier decor. Our waitress was insanely knowledgable (regrettably I do not remember her name). She offered us great service all night. She had to say this crazy long schpeel just to explain the menu. To be perfectly honest, I found the menu to be complicated and confusing. So the explanation was necessary. It really makes me want to suggest they rewrite the menu to be clearer and cleaner. Anyway my 2 cents. We got the steak tartare, which I found to be tasty and unique. We sampled the tataki, which was a huge hit. Truly outstanding meal for our dinner visit. The steaks (Denver and Argentinian versions, and a bone-in ribeye) were all great, but the bone-in ribeye was the star. Our server was nice and knew the menu well but the food didn't impress us We started with the steak tartare and mussels. The tartare was good but the crackers it came with kind of took away from the flavor of the tartare which should be the star of the show. The mussels were very good other than being too heavy on the salt. We ordered the PS Steak trio and it was okay. Nothing I'd come back for. They gave us mushrooms on the house and those were very good other than again being too heavy on salt. I was surprised both good and bad with this restaurant. With a name like P.S. Steak I was expecting a great, well...steak. Not the case for me but plenty of good things to say about this restaurant. Little to no spice (heat) but full of flavor and creamy goat cheese. The Aligot Potatoes might be the best potato dish I have ever tasted. Think of mashed potatoes on another level. So the steak, what I would have expected to be the star of our order was fine. With a name like P.S. Steak my expectations were high, and fine, is disappointing. We ordered the Denver Steak, and the Manhattan Steak, neither were very flavorful. Both were cooked perfectly as we asked but the tender, flavorful cut of meat we had hoped for was not. I've had worse but I expected better. Last we ordered the Baked Alaska for dessert and it did not disappoint. It was a delicious combination of Salted Caramel ice cream, sponge cake, with Green Chartreuse. It was a show and a treat for everyone. This fabulous restaurant is fit for special occasions or fancy date night but we were just meeting up with friends on a fun Wednesday night. Upon making reservations, you're required to make a choice between Lounge or Steakhouse. I prefer the Lounge because of the modern decor and abundant sunshine. The Steakhouse had traditional masculine decor. Both are gorgeous spaces. The entire restaurant is filled with historic character and charm. I love that their renovations kept the fabulous details. They were able to accommodate our large group of 9, but it seemed the maximum they could accommodate in the lounge is a party of 10. The steakhouse seating area could maybe fit one party of 16 in the far back. Service was excellent. Our server was friendly, attentive, helpful and paid attention to every detail. Our water glasses never dipped below the half full mark. And our dishes were always taken away promptly. Here's what we ate: 4 oz Shoulder Steak (5/5) I tried it at the recommended medium rare and it was delightfully tender and flavorful. Served with this slightly sweet and slightly creamy demi glaze, pureed potatoes, and crispy fresh sugar snap peas. This was our favorite dish. Steamed Mussels (5/5) I wished for either a soup spoon or more of the grilled baguettes so that I could eat all of the delicious cilantro butter broth. Lemon Sorbet (5/5) - I was amused about how deliciously it paired with the jellied currants and toasted sunflower seeds. Well done. Unfortunately, as a Black paying guest, my time there was overshadowed by the feeling that we didn't belong. From what I've since learned, this doesn't seem to be an isolated reputation for the restaurant. Stopped by here for an early dinner on a Saturday night. Had a reservation in the lounge for 5:45 but we were like half hour early and they managed to seat us which was nice. They have complimentary valet parking which is nice because parking can be a little difficult in the area. Once we were seated, they came and filled out waters and gave is the menu. This is located on the corner of groveland in the same building that used to have la belle vie. So old building with a lot of character. Low light and dark styling. With some more modern decor elements. Very comfortable and open seating arrangements. Started with a couple of drinks which were very good. Our server picked them for us and she didn't miss. She got me a cocktail called just a little and it was delicious with mezcal, rum with a black salt rim that was a well balanced cocktail. My wife has a Moscato and the moved to one called the orchard. Another recommendation from our server. Tasty. A sweet cocktail which was right up her ally. The menu looked really good and had a bunch of stuff we wanted to try. Being just the two of us, we had to pick and choose. We went with the special for the night which was the steak trio and whiskey flight. For the appetizer, we went with seared foie gras which is normally an enhancement but the server helped us and recommended it highly. She was spot on. Perfectly seared with four slices of slightly charred and toasted bread. Nice char from the sear and smooth and creamy foie gras to bread on that tasted bread. Some of the best foie gras in the cities. She also brought us a side of the baby lettuce salad which was very good and refreshing. The steak trio came with A5 Wagyu, boneless ribeye and Denver steak. All perfectly cooked to the right temperature. Nice char and super tasty. Not much to say on the steaks as they were all very very good. The Denver was a little dry on the sides but the center was tender and juicy. That's the only fault I can find in the amazing plate of meat. The sides were great. We went with the fries with curry béarnaise and ketchup with garam masala. And she also brought us some aligot potatoes. The sides were not hot when they came out and were just warm. We brough this to her attention and they brought new ones out right away. Again, service was top notch. Once the new sides came out, they were much better than the warm ones that first came. The ketchup and béarnaise with the fires was really tasty and an interesting combination that I had never had before. The fries were crispy and fluffy and cooked well. thin shoestring style fries that really were complimented by the sauces. The aligot was cheesy and creamy and seasoned well. The sides really did compliment the meat. And if it's not sacrilegious to you, I would recommend trying the Denver with the béarnaise as well, which i did and really enjoyed it. We ended the dinner with the Creme Brulé and just like everything else, was really delicious. The crunchiness from the almonds and the richness of the pears along with the creamy custard were a great combination and a perfect balance of flavors. Overall, this was a great dinner with some really good food and drinks and fantastic service. Special shoutout to our server Kris who was amazing. We did think a couple of the food dishes were just so/so, but even with that, I almost gave this restaurant five stars. Here's a rundown: Ambiance and service: Absolutely beautiful interior, with two different rooms to choose from. Our server was phenomenal; he was very knowledgable and also took some dietary issues into account. All in all, we were very satisfied with these aspects. Drinks: I had two old fashioneds and my wife had a glass of house wine. We both liked our drinks, and I especially appreciated that I could try out multiple types of Old Forester bourbons. All in all, a great selection. Food: We had the crab cakes (dairy free and yummy), shrimp appetizer, a salad (simple but good), the steak sampler (steaks were good, but I'm not sure the dish was worth $100), foie gras and bone marrow accompaniments (the best foie gras I've had in the Twin Cities, almost as good as in France; and really good bone marrow), and french fries (pretty standard fries but very yummy dips). We also had the baked Alaska, which was dairy free, but came out a bit odd (the sorbet was rock solid, and the meringue was a bit off as well, I've definitely had much better baked Alaska elsewhere, even dairy free versions. Wow! The service and ambiance is a cute historic exclusive club vibe. We made a reservation for restaurant week and overall happy with our selection. Restaurant week had a special menu to choose an app, an entree and sharing a dessert. The steak was absolutely phenomenal! (I mean it better be when it's in the name teehee). But the crust/sear and seasoning on the steak was perfect and it was cooked exactly as we asked (a med rare). The potatoes were nothing special, but we both really enjoyed the Brussels sprouts that came with it. The shrimp bucatini was really elegantly put together and tasted spectacular. The salad was underwhelming and we felt like we were eating rabbit food. The cauliflower soup was good, but we don't gravitate towards soup options. The portions were almost laughable though. While the shrimp bucatini was heavenly, it was also one jump shrimp diced up on top of a small bed of pasta. The steak was only 5 oz, and maybe 4 Brussels sprouts cut in half. We absolutely left hungry, but didn't have the budget to explore the menu further. We will be back to explore the larger menu in hopes of some better portions and within our budget. I've eaten at many restaurants in the area and this is a place I always leave extremely happy. Firstly, the staff. I eat out for quality of food. Whether or not the staff are super nice to me is secondary to the food - I appreciate the service industry but it's not the reason I like to dine out. And there's the guy with the great voice, who delivers the meal trays *announcing them.* Oh and they want to make sure you order the right accompaniments with your steak. Twice they sent out their au poivre or curry béarnaise as a gift from the kitchen, when I didn't order it - very considerate and, importantly, made for a more delicious meal! Secondly, the drinks. I am someone who actually likes a good martini and it's not easy to find that when eating out. There's so few ingredients that it's all about a balance of chill and dilution. Well the martinis here are better than I make at home. And the other drinks ... seriously just come here and sit at the bar sometime, treat yourself to a cocktail. Finally, the food. Good steak can be made at home with a little practice. This is next level, very well-crusted, well-seasoned, sometimes aged, well-sourced beef -- this would be difficult and expensive to try to replicate at home. Anyways, start with a Caesar or chopped salad. Splurge on the dry aged ribeye, you need look further on your journey to beef perfection. Expensive but huge, you can split it with your friend, and every bite is heaven. Be sure to dip it in the Sauce Au Poivre or the Curry Bearnaise. Enjoy. Pss, did you know in a tucked historic neighborhood is a delicious classic steakhouse? No, me neither although I have heard about PS Steak many times just had no idea where they were located. Summit hill with valet parking (personally a must for $10) and a coat service are just the start of some high-class vibes this steakhouse brings. We dined for a celebration of health and wellness and the staff (Chris) took such great care to make this a beautiful experience. We ordered the Manhattan steak for each of us which is a 10oz prime angus cut and it was buttery and cooked a perfect medium rare. We also indulged in the various offerings such as the crab and shrimp cake and sides such as the aligot (gruyere mash potatoes), brussels sprouts (pancetta, garlic, oh my) and the French fries (think McD's fries but they are crispy and you dip them in a masala ketchup or bearnaise sauce). Granted the steaks were perfect it was the sides that stole the show! 1,000% recommend getting the Brussels and the aligot as sides and keep in mind, we were a party of 5 and there was plenty of sides to share and snack from. WE indulged on their delicious wine selection and purchase a $250 bottle only to find it was $50 at Total wine. That's ok! We had a great dining experience at PS Steak. It's a very easy place to find but street parking can be challenging. No need to worry though! They offer complimentary valet parking, which we took advantage of. We had reservations for the lounge at 5:15 on a Saturday. There was plenty of seating at that time but it was full by 6:30. I really enjoy the lounge. It's very open and bright inside. It gave me a modern, relaxed, upscale feeling. On to the important part, the food! It's social hour every day from 5-6. Some small appetizers and drinks for a discounted price. We started off with some pull-apart garlic bread and three chilled shrimp from the social hour menu. Both delicious, highly recommend the garlic bread! As for entrees, we tried the market fish and butchers cut. The butchers cut was a spinalis ribeye cut and ohhhh my was it melt-in-your mouth amazing! Ugh so tender and juicy. If they have this, GET IT! It paired well with some onions and sautéed mushrooms. I was wondering why the sautéed mushrooms were not apart of the enhancements though? The mushrooms are instead under the side dishes and $16. That seems like a little up-charge to me. Anyways, I felt like my fish dish was way too fishy. It was a stripped bass mixed in a rich pea purée. Very different tastes that didn't satisfy my taste buds. It was edible though. I've eaten at PS steak a couple times in the past for just happy hour at the bar so I was excited to try this place for restaurant week in the restaurant area and let me tell you it's a beautiful restaurant with a nice chandeliers in the big cushy booths. Perfection. We've visited several times and have never been disappointed. The staff is top-notch and well trained. They are able to answer all of your questions with confidence and also make thoughtful recommendations based on your interests and questions. Have only ever ordered steak with the boneless ribeye being my favorite. Ambiance is up-scale but not "stuffy" - very warm and welcoming whether you're in the back restaurant or the front bar area. All of that being said, it is definitely pricey but it's worth it. The quality of the food, ambiance and staff is wonderful. If you're going on a budget and focused on keeping your bill as low as possible, you won't be able to fully appreciate this wonderful restaurant. Go for a special occasion and enjoy! read more

They started off strong with the starters and the drinks. Most of us ordered the chopped salad, (Nicole sold us on that choice) We had a few other starters. Garlic pull-apart bread and meatballs. All great. We waited a hour between our starters and our main dishes. All of our food came out cold . Steak COLD. 4 of the 8 of us had steak and it was cold. I ordered the salmon dish, salmon was semi warm and the potato pasta was cold. Our waitress Nicole was great and very knowledgeable of the menu. The manager was very receptive to the constructive criticism and offered a round of drinks on them. I'd come back off the customer service alone. Again Nicole was great. Her attention to detail is outstanding. The kitchen and or how food comes out needs work but the ambience in the customer service is great! read more

Oh man. You can catch me on the corner begging for some money. Loose change, give me a dollar! Haha Had an amazing night at this dive restaurant somewhere here in Minnesota. My treat I said. Why the hell did I say that? Lol Here is how I got broke... (1) Dry aged bone in Ribeye, 32oz I think. 98$ (1) Garlic loaf thingy. 10$ (1) Crab legs. 48$ (this one was super overpriced, but I guess when in Rome...lol (1) mushroom side. 10$ (1) hasbrown thingy. 10$ i think. I had a Sprite, nursing a hangover from previous night. My buddy had an Old fashion, and a couple glasses of wine. No dessert. And our bill came out to 286$. Left homeslice a 60$ tip. 350ish$ total. Now, was the steak good? Yup. The restaurant itself is fabulous. The service super on-point, as it should be for that type of pricing. Now, hailing from the Yay, aka San Francisco Bay area, I have had my fair share of spending stupid amount of money for something that we digest. But good Lord Almighty, almost 400$ for 2 people, and I didn't even drink. Jeez louise, Jiminy Crickets...what in the bloody hell was I thinking?! Lol Now, will I be going back to this spot...probably not. But hey, you got my money and you got 5 stars from me.
