    Wings

Service was great, ambiance was good as well (other than the table of 6 yelling in an entirely empty restaurant). My water glass was dirty and had food stuff on the rim which turned me off completely from drinking it. I ordered just the wings and boy was I disappointed. They are jumbo wings with a dry rub but spoiler alert, the dry rub is just salt and pepper. Heavy on the salt. The wings were so salty they started to burn the inside of my cheeks. The fries were good. Take any recommendation for a Minnesota eatery with a grain of salt (no pun intended). You're better off flying to Chicago for a decent meal. The music they play is nice. It calms you down after you're upset at the mediocre meal you've had.

OMG. My first time at the Monte Carlo did not disappoint!! I stopped in for a drink and dessert and I will absolutely be back. Our server was so attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We settled for the infamous French 75 and the chocolate cake. NO WORDS. the cake was so good I forgot to get a picture!

If you can't find your cocktail here you are crazy.

Awesome bar and food. They make the standard superior. Great ambiance and fun crowd. Had the Salad Nicosia and egg salad (yes it was that good).

This is my third time hitting up Monte Carlo, and I have to say, I'll never stray from their wings. Seriously, they've become my go-to in the city. Every time, those wings come out hot, crispy, and packed with flavor -- I'm already daydreaming about my next visit. The seasoning? Delicious. It's got a little sweetness, great blend of spices, and a whole lot of layers that hit you differently with each bite. It's like a flavor party happening in your mouth. I don't know what they do to these wings, but they're definitely doing it right. They've also got solid fries to go with it, and let's not forget about the chocolate cake. It's not the star of the show, but it's a nice little sweet ending to your meal. Honestly, the whole thing kind of feels like an adult-sized kids meal -- satisfying and comforting, but with a grown-up twist. If you haven't been, do yourself a favor and try it. You won't be disappointed.

For sure there seem to be varying reviews for Monte Carlo, but I really like it. I very much appreciate their free parking, although it does get full at times. I also think that their host staff are always kind & professional, even though it does get a bit hectic there at peak times. The best part for me is the food. Everything I have tried at the Monte Carlo has been delicious and well prepared. I always seem to gravitate towards the Beijing wings which are always a favorite. I did also try the Sampler Appetizer Platter recently and it also did not disappoint. The cocktails are also innovative and well prepared.

Our first time dining at Monte Carlo fell a little short than expected. I'd heard so much about the food, and the the cocktails; it was on my bucket list for months. I was finally able to book a reservation for the indoor seating and while the food and drinks were indeed delicious, a few other points fell short for me. I found the menu to be significantly limited; a handful of sandwiches and main entrees. The bar menu is more vast than the dinning menu. I didn't order an appetizer as I had not done my homework about their famous chicken wings to try them. Nothing spoke to me and knowing my entré was served with their delicious house-made Cesar salad, our table passed on apps. For mains, we enjoyed the "Moules Frites" and the "Scallops Basilic". The Moules Frites were served with country bread and our choice of side; I opted the $3 up charge for a Baked Potato, but once it arrived at my table, I immediately regretted that decision; the potato was flavorless and bland. Literally, just a baked potato, no fixings. The mussels on the other hand were delicious. The broth the mussels were served in was well seasoned, warm and savory. The Scallops Bascilic dish was insanely delicious! The scallops were perfectly cooked, but what truly pulled the whole dish together was the garlic-y cream sauce that covered the entire bed of pasta. What made this experience less than phenomenal was the limited menu and the service which we found to be okay but not on-par with the type of establishment this is; service is a bit lack-luster as is the delays with drinks. I also wasn't too big a fan of how close together the tables were both indoors and outside. If you don't mind the lack of privacy on a casual date night or a girls night out, jump the broom and try them out. But if you're looking for a more intimate, romantic experience, I'd keep this one off that list. All in all, it was good, not great; still a fun night out in the North Loop complete with a good meal and okay drinks. I'd suggest a starter meal here and 1 round of drinks; lots of cool bar options nearby!

We stopped by on a Monday for drinks and something to eat and sat at the patio. Really nice ambiance with the trees and the umbrellas. Lots of people there after work. The prices on their website are outdated- everything is a bit pricier now. I ordered the root beer float cocktail (really unique!) and the cheeseburger with fries. Overall I thought the drink menu was good but a bit pricey with no happy hour, and the food menu to definitely be on the higher end- with even a plain ceasar salad costing almost $20. The root beer float drink was good, but I was disappointed that by the time it got to me the ice cream was almost completely gone and melted away. My burger was good as well and the fries were very crispy and perfectly salted. Our server was very pleasant and kind, but service overall was pretty slow. Drinks especially took a while to get out, and we placed our order before it had gotten busier.

Best Caesar in town... don't forget to ask for the anchovies:)

Still consistently great in my book. Amy provided perfect service and is super friendly. I'm not sure I have ever dined during the day at this establishment and not been outside.... Still a great experience.

Had a wonderful experience at Monte Carlo! The staff were helpful and patient. The atmosphere was comfortable yet lively. Everyone enjoyed the food and cocktails! French 75 and Blood Orange Martini were tasty. LOVED the filet. The coleslaw was so good. And as always, the chicken wings are highly recommended!

Monte Carlo was fantastic!! This place has been on our list for a while!! First off, the environment was fantastic. With my significant other being deaf in one ear, they sat us in the back where it was quieter and we could hear one another!! The salmon was on another level, one of the best I've ever had! The sampler platter was a great side too! Highly recommend visiting this place!!

This restaurant was always on my list to try. I finally got the opportunity to go. So glad they have their own parking lot, it's rare in downtown. They have a nice patio area but it was so windy, nobody was sitting outside. Huge wall of liquor in the bar area, this fancy restaurant gave me a supper club vibes. We ordered the Maui guacamole, that was like poke. My steak came with a side ceasar salad. Server was very attentive and gave suggestions to drinks on the menu. I wanted something refreshing and aperol spritz did the work.

Nice place for a patio dinner. The menu is a little more interesting with a range of options from sandwich's to roasts. The staff wasn't super fast but I know they had a lot of tables. The outdoor patio is amazing and it's great for a summertime dinner or drink!! I recommend getting a reservation- but the outside area I believe it first come first serve. The parking can also be a hassle in downtown area but they do have their own parking lot (small).

I really liked my linguine pasta -- they gave me a choice whether to make it creamy or just the olive oil sauce and they definitely gave enough. We also tried the fried chicken and it was super good with flavor! I enjoyed the calamari but we especially enjoyed the variety of alcoholic malts. I think the service could've been better -- the patio was already closed when we arrived (probably due to the heat?) we were seated in the middle tables so it was a bit tight, but the ambience was nice. I would say overall average experience :)

Plus with our spouses out of town it was a great excuse for a "boys night out" in downtown. Things were a bit quiet (it's January after all) but that was ok with me. We arrived around 5:30 p.m., about 30 minutes after opening. The room was dark, cramped, and louder than the small space can really support. The playlist was distracting, and the kitchen staff audibly singing along did not help the atmosphere. Service was well-intentioned but missed the mark. Our server could not tell us whether the main component of a dish was cucumber, fennel, both, or something else, which is a basic menu question at this price point. Timing was off throughout the meal, so if you are expecting polished, well-paced service, I would look elsewhere. The food was the biggest disappointment. I could see an attempt at creativity, but the dishes felt more confused than composed. Several flavors landed at extremes: too sweet, too spicy, or too heavy on fishy funk, without enough balance to pull them together. It felt like "fusion" without a clear point of view. Parking is also difficult in this part of the North Loop, so plan for a ramp, valet, or extra time and money. I would not return for happy hour, dinner, a hosted meal, or a special occasion.

I got the banana bread old fashioned which may just be my favorite cocktail! My boyfriend got a beer and said it was "ok." We started with the truffle fries and smoked wings in the flavor rum chili. Holy moly! Both of those were spectacular!!! The ranch was just ok, I would probably get the blue cheese next time. Truly though, you don't need to dip these wings, the flavors are amazing on their own!! For our main course, we got the 14oz New York strip steak cooked to a perfect medium and the scallops! Both were out of this world! Very well done! I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone! It is truly a gem in the cities!

We got a few of the bruschetta and the soft egg and lobster was so amazing! I know its a bit spendy, but it is divine! I at the Bolognese and it was so delicious! I have noticed that they do rotate the noodle that the Bolognese is on, but I don't think that should matter as they were fantastic. Since it was a group of us girls, there was a selection of dishes and everyone was in love with their food. I can not wait to go back!

There are some classic food establishments in Minneapolis that just nail every single detail which…read morekeeps them in the forefront of the scene year after year...and Bar La Grassa is one of those! Street parking available on hip and trendy Washington Ave! They also have a decently priced valet for diners not looking to search nearby for parking! The interior is moody and hip with dim lighting, exposed brick, and a social energy. It's always busy without feeling stuffy or crowded. The service is top notch...fresh silverware and plates with every course, consistently filled water, servers that are around but not overbearing, and courses that come out with exquisite timing! We enjoyed an appetizer, a few bruschettas, and a few pastas on our most recent visit. Arancini were the perfect start: crispy, creamy, and a little spice from the sauce! Chicken Liver Mousse Bruschetta was the weak point in the meal as it just seemed to be lacking a component that balanced the richness of the mousse. The Crispy Pork Shoulder and Carrot Bruschetta was VERY salty, but I kinda enjoyed how it would make my mouth water, quenched by the creamy carrot puree. The Gnocchi are little pillows of heaven, and the orange sauce is such a pleasant surprise. The real star for me was the Mushroom Agnolotti: little pillows of creamy, mushroomy goodness topped with a plethora of additional mushrooms. Chef's kiss. Can't wait to come back again and again!
