Charcoal Grilled Lobster Tail and Macaroni and Cheese

Great service our server was awesome! There was a group of 20 that came in after us and our food still cane out fast and fresh. We got the prime rib and the lobster tail for entrees 10/10. Mikes potato's were probably my least favorite thing we got - I wasn't sure I liked the tomato sauce. For sides I recommend the garlic mash and Mac and cheese!

    Delicious prime rib!

Neat place & atmosphere. Ate at bar and the bartender was great! Prime rib Normally comes with just a side of veggies, but I paid up charge for asparagus! I also added onions, mushrooms, and peppers!

Revisited an old favorite recently! Happy to say they are still offering great service and delicious food The cocktails were tasty and pretty colors Buddy bowl is prob my fav thing to order here The lobster risotto was a nice change from my usual steak order The Cajun tenderloin tips were really good but not a fan of the dipping sauces The Cajun pork chop got the least fave bite at the table was a little dry and lacked flavor- unusual as this used to be their signature dish! Could have been an off day Old school supper club vibes here - think old school New York dining scene

What a fabulous steakhouse located in the North Loop My friends and I enjoyed everything the wedge salad was fab as well as the STEAK SPAULDING, an 8 oz Filet topped with crab cake and béarnaise sauce served with asparagus and hash browns Pretty incredible Cocktails were great and since we were celebrating our friends birthday, the restaurant included a free dessert!

Great place to go with friends!

Absolutely the best restaurant in the Twin Cities and our favorite by far. Fresh, amazing food, great ambiance, unbelievable service and an owner that truly cares for his customers and has for many years. Pat stops by every table to check on people and to make sure they are having a great experience. We LOVE JD Hoyt's!

Their food was SO good. There's a lengthy wait and heavy crowd on the weekends. I got the cornbread which was delicious! As well as the chicken and crab cakes. ALL delicious. I got the Alfredo pasta (half order) which came with a yummy garlicky buttery toast. Everything was flavored so well. If you are crowd sensitive I'd pick a mid week midday to come. I really was very uncomfortable with just how full it was. It's a very nice place for a family dinner or catching up with friends. I'd say it's somewhere between casual and mild dressing up.

I should've known the moment we pulled into the strip club parking lot that this restaurant was not going to be what I thought it would be. It was my friends birthday and he wanted to go to Manny's Steak House. We ended up going with JD Hoyt's because we didn't want to spend that much but still wanted to have a nice dinner. I read great reviews and we decided to give it a shot. I'm not sure if it was because we're all in our mid-twenties, but I immediately felt like the server wasn't taking our table seriously. I kept this thought to myself because I thought I was crazy but later in the night someone else brought it up. That sucks. My friend, the birthday boy, ordered a medium rare steak for $60-80. When the steak came out I swear I saw it twitch. That thing was rare. SO rare. I care about very few things in this world and one of them is steak. Steakhouses should be able to deliver medium rare for $80 if Applebee's can do it for $20. The worst part was that he mentioned it to the server and she just walked away. She came back right after with a plate to put the steak back on the grill. No words were exchanged. As if it isn't awkward enough to send food back. We get the steak back. It's still red enough that even I wouldn't touch it. He sent it back again & decided he would be done with the whole ordeal. At this point we've all decided we will probably never come back. It was a weird experience and our food was ehh. For a steakhouse this expensive, I would hope everyone is getting good service, legitimate table cloths, and amazing steak. The drinks were good (bonus star!) and the steak was comped but I'd save your money and go to Crave. The food is leagues ahead for the same price.

We came here for restaurant week and had a very good experience!…read more Our server was great. Very personable and present without being overwhelming. The ambiance was very nice too. The place was very busy and had a good energy about it. I had the Jambalaya, which had chicken, sausage, and shrimp. It was pretty good and had a nice spicy kick. A good portion as well. Girlfriend had the shrimp etouffee with grits. It was nicely blackened and on a big bed of grits. Also spicy. Friend had the original lobster roll. He was surprised it came on Texas toast and not a roll. But he really enjoyed it. The dessert was a sinlme but delicious Cookit with ice cream. I recommend for restaurant week. And if you like seafood in the form of things like the lobster roll or shrimp etouffee that you don't get other places. I thought the jambalaya was fine but unremarkable. Not pictured here was the lobster mac and cheese. Which was only a small appetizer and I thought underwhelming (also, I don't like corn).

Every bite brings something different, and the fresh seafood really shines without being overshadowed by the seasoning. The portion is generous enough to share, but you probably won't want to. The atmosphere is lively, the seafood tastes fresh, and the kitchen clearly pays attention to presentation as much as flavor. If you're looking for one of the Twin Cities' best seafood dishes, this one belongs on your must-order list. Fresh, colorful, and packed with flavor--Smack Shack delivers every time.

And I was on board. We made reservations without another thought. I ended up googling the menu and realizing my partner was a little off on what type of cuisine this was and I was in unfamiliar territory though still excited to try. We loved every second of our experience here! The decor was amazing, the service was exceptional, the food was to die for. They had a special Valentine's Day menu which included beef Wellington for two, so we got that. Asked if it had sides and they said no. I asked if a veg was possible, expecting frozen, microwaved bland veggies. We got beautifully roasted, seasoned veggies that were amazing. Plus the beef Wellington was melting in our mouths. Cocktails were also exceptional. We had an espresso martini and old fashioned which came with a table side experience. We ended our adventure with the sticky toffee torte which was another exceptional dish. Our server was so kind and so so knowledgeable about every item and restaurant in the owners catalog. Very impressive all around.

It's not that busy, maybe 10-20% full from 8:30 pm and beyond. Vibes = 2/10. What about the food? I've traveled all over the Mediterranean and Middle East. I'd give the Shashuka a 5-6 out of 10. It was supposed to be served with crepes and I had visions of Saluf and Sons Yemeni restaurant in Tel Aviv (now closed). Here it was served with a French bread / hot dog bun. Crepe???? I guess French bread and crepes are from the same country, but count me as unimpressed.

They are very generous with their sides, if you are dining with less than 3 people a half portion is more than enough. Lastly they brought out a nice Birthday platter with cheesecake, key lime pie, chocolate cake and a coconut cookie - all were delicious. I also was able to try my sisters crème brûlée and honestly i'd come back for that! Overall the service and ambiance is upscale, the servers were SO attentive to even the placing of the plates. However, my friends and I were craving Cajun food and wanted to give it a shot. Boy, were we surprised! The seafood was so fresh when we ordered. We got the shrimp, crawfish, and snow crab legs. Maybe they just got their shipment on Monday, but it really hit the spot. They did mess up my order ( I ordered House Mix with Medium spice but got Garlic Butter with Mild spice), but it didn't change the fact I enjoyed my meal thoroughly. Also, their corn was great. I'm usually a fan of seafood boils that have a thicker sauce consistency (like King Cajun), so if you're the same, you might want to skip. Their sauce is a bit on the more liquid side. I would say if you're gonna eat here, place your order online and pick up your food and head out. It will hit the spot, but you don't want your car parked around outside cause it's honestly a bit scary.
