The Capitol Grill has become one of my favorite spots for happy hour! The steak with Verde sauce is to die for. The service is always friendly and accommodating. They gave me a free dessert for my birthday which was so sweet ;) the ambience is mysterious and romantic perfect for a night out!

This is a great restaurant to dine at before a show at one of the theaters on Hennepin; the proximity to several theaters, indoor connection to the closest indoor parking garage at La Salle, as well as a service offered of storing leftovers boxed up to be picked up after a show! The Capital Grille is a a decent option for a classic fine dining steakhouse. The French onion soup might be the best I've ever had. Their cup is the perfect size to hit the spot on a cold evening. I also tried and enjoyed the butternut squash curry soup and spinach salad. The marinated peppers in the calamari was a perfect ratio. My mom appreciated the free coat check. 4.5/5 stars!

If you are looking for amazing service this place is somewhere you should consider. We decided to make a reservation here to eat before a concert. We were seated quickly. Water was brought out as soon as we sat down and our glasses were kept full the entire time we were there. The beer menu wasn't on the table but our waitress brought it as soon as my husband asked for it. They brought a bread basket. They offered a salmon hors d'oeuvres. I don't care for salmon so she brought me some marinated cherry tomatoes with a bit of avacado. It was so tasty. We ordered calamari, French onion and a fall soup, beet salad, pear salad and marinated mushrooms. Everything was very good. Our waitress was so good and the table runner was funny and efficient. It's a dimly lit, fancy place. It would be great for a special occasion and the people who work there will definitely make you feel special.

This place has such a classic top shelf feel to it that it is a fun place to go. You're treated well and they make you feel special. The food is also excellent. They're doing a limited time burger and a glass of wine for $35 special which is a steal in my book. Three different burgers to choose from. They're juicy and come with a good amount of fries. So you get all the class and ambiance of a special meal but at discount prices. I've also been and had the steak and it was amazing. If you're going downtown and want to have a special night, I would check it out.

Love love love The Capital Grille. Mike at the bar is THE best. I just finished attending a show at the State Theater and was welcomed with open arms at the bar area for an after show drink. I opted for the "in fashion" aka an old fashioned. Love the giant ice cube and cherries. I met some lovely people sitting at the bar as well. I've been to another capital grille and the service and ambience is always top notch.

It was very busy, but the staff did an amazing job accommodating us. We had a reservation and I highly recommend one. Everything was absolutely perfect. Our waiter was Ryan and he was the best waiter we ever had at any restaurant. The food was delicious. We had steaks, Brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes, soup and salad. The dessert was amazing. Overall an excellent experience!!

Dinner at the Capital Grille. Great experience. Valet parking available. We had pre dinner cocktails. My wife had a Cosmo and I had the In Fashion. Both were very good. No appetizers as we knew there would be more than enough food. Our server, Elina, did bring us an Amuse Bouche which was a squash soup and was wonderful. We both ordered soup instead of a salad. Lobster bisque for me and clam chowder for her. I ordered the porcini bone in rib eye and my wife ordered the scallop and lobster risotto. Also had the creamed corn and au gratin potatoes. Elina threw in a side of their brussel sprouts. Everything was great, service, atmosphere, food. Definitely on the high end as far as the bill is concerned, but such a treat once in a while. Great spot for a pre show meal or appetizers.

Always a great experience coming to the Capital Grille. Food was amazing per usual. Host decorated the table once he know it was my birthday which was really nice. The server was fantastic and very knowledgeable about the menu. One of my favorite spots to take my wife on a date. Overall Food & Vibe 9.5/10

World-class food and top-notch service would be the 2 phrases we've come to use when describing Capital Grille. Any special occasion or event celebrated as a couple my wife and I have a hard time thinking of anywhere else we'd rather go - and that's even rubbed off on our friends! From starting off the meal with their legendary Stoli Doli and the delicious spread of bread to the wedge salad with large pieces of bacon, and then for the main event - the steaks, which are cooked to perfection! Plus if you're a fan of your filet with Lump Crab and Béarnaise on top the Oscar Style is for you  But you cant stop there: soy-glazed brussell sprouts and lobster mac and cheese with GIANT pieces of lobster is a side that cannot be resisted. To top things off, on the birthdays and anniversaries we've enjoyed they've always brought out a nice desert sampler tray to make the trips even more special. From start to end combining the amazing wait staff, the intimate ambiance, and every course delivered, I'm already looking forward to the next trip for our anniversary right around the corner.

What a huge disappointment. Nothing irks me more than going to a restaurant and they charge you $15 to valet park your car. The only other option was to hike around downtown and find something on my own. I am not from Minneapolis and this was not a good way to start. Our server was good but the whole vibe was not welcoming and when I asked about the parking charge from hostess stand on my way out, it was like the great debate and what did I expect since it was downtown. Lame to say the least. We had the lobster bisque and French onion soup and both were hot and delicious. We wanted another hot roll to go with it but our server was nowhere to be seen. We then shared the calamari which was good as well. But the reality was that we were kind of ignored and didn't feel welcome or important. Meanwhile, all the patrons at the bar were getting uncomfortably long hugs front the valet and others. FYI- we sat in the bar at a table. Don't waste your time coming to this location. I know we won't be back. Ever.

Stopped in and sat at the bar before a show on a Monday. Disappointed in the service and the food. I have only been here 1 other time, but have heard such great things. Took bartender a while to get to us, not very busy, she just seemed unorganized. She took our drink order, took 15 minutes to get .. a margarita and an old fashion (pretty basic). Another couple came in and sat next to us at the bar, ordered drinks. She came back to us to get our complicated order (butternut squash soup, french onion soup and bacon appetizer). She then took the order of our neighbors. They got their "meals" and finished BEFORE we got our soups and bacon. The manager brought out the butternut soup and the bacon, not the french onion (bartender forgot to enter that order) .. good grief!! The manager brought out the other soup - they soups were great! The bacon, not so much. Tough and flavorless. The atmosphere is lovely .. the service not so much.

Capital grille is fabulous as always. Excellent from start to finish. They gave us a crab salad amuse bouche to start, which was a nice touch. We loved all our appetizers, French onion soup, clam chowder and prosciutto wrapped mozzarella. The new York strip was melt in your mouth delecious. Filet was tender. Fries are the best you'll ever have. Service is fantastic as well. We love coming downtown for dinner.

The wine list is really thoughtful and leans toward smaller, lesser-known producers and unique regions. Even if you know wine well, there are still plenty of interesting picks here. Just note that by-the-glass options are limited, so it's more of a place where you end up ordering a bottle. The space is beautifully designed. Very minimal, clean, and intentional. It feels elevated without being overdone. It is definitely expensive for what it is. Both the wine and food lean high in price, but you're also paying for the atmosphere and overall experience. The menu is also a bit different in a fun way. The tinned fish selection stands out and isn't something you see often. The radish butter and bread was a highlight and absolutely worth ordering. Service is a little unconventional since you order at the counter, which feels a bit off given the pricing, but everything still runs smoothly.

We wanted a recommendation and the wine picked for us was excellent. Went with the Plavac Milos. The food is honestly incredible! The carrots were my favorite. Someday I'll get enough courage to try the tinned fish. I wish seating was a little more comfortable for the whole "drink a bottle and stay awhile" vibe. It also can get pretty loud when it's busy in the tight quarters.
