    Porterhouse for 2

This place is pretty good I came and bought the porterhouse for 2 with garlic fries and French onion soup. For 280$ I'll tell you it kinda wasn't worth it would've looked at a different steak joint. Everything about this place is good but the food is what tastes super mid. I bought the porterhouse for 2, the ribeye side tasted burnt which was a super big let down and the garlic truffles fries just tasted hella weird. but the French soup was good!

Best overall service! Celebrated my boyfriend's birthday here and it was our first time visiting. He's very chill but by the end of the night he was raving about the service and food! The restaurant was dimly lit and perfect for a couples dinner. The table was decorated and we had a birthday menu, loved the details! We started with the calamari which was crisp and perfectly salty! We were given a presentation of all of their different cuts of meat- very impressive! We both got the filet mignon and it was made to perfection and melted like butter. This place is always on the top of my list for recommendations!

Tuesday night, no reservations needed. About 70% full. Quick friendly front desk service.

We were a party of six strangers brought together by an app for the purpose of getting out, meeting people, and having dinner. This venue is gorgeous; dark, polished wood, vintage lighting, impeccable Green Coat service. It's the 1920s with flair. Our server, Alex, gave us a little history of 801 and explained it was modeled after Delmonico's in NYC. He was so knowledgeable and answered our questions easily. There is a framed painting of a steer from whose progeny all beef is sourced. Typically the server will bring out a trolley of the various cuts of meat and describes each, but one diner in our group was on a fast and asked that they not. (I gently asked why she came during a fast and she explained she joined us for the company and conversation.) We had plenty of both! Accustomed to the USDA Choice steaks typically available, I was bowled over by the flavor and tenderness of Prime cuts, especially Wagyu! I ordered the Surf & Turf, two filets topped with a huge prawn and a perfect scallop. The Madeira sauce was lick-your-plate delicious and the mid-rare filet melted in my mouth. I confess, I can't stop thinking about that steak. The warm sourdough bread is on point. The diner to my left ordered a side of grilled asparagus and it was enormous -- a dinner plate piled with huge spears that he ended up sharing with the table. There is an impressive wine list as well as specialty cocktails and fabulously crafted desserts. I would love to return and found the entire experience memorable.

A wonderful evening. We had the petite filet, Caesar salad, and hash browns with bleu cheese instead of cheddar, but the star was the Surf & Turf. Two small filets, shrimp and scallop covered in a luscious Maderia sauce. Mind-blowing. Our server, Clancy, was fantastic, guiding us through the menu with ease, despite our seating at 9:30 pm (801 closes at 10 pm). He even delivered our Crème Brûlée to the bar at our request so that we could catch what we thought would be the end of the Tigers v Mariners Game 5. Jason, our bartender, insisted we take our time and enjoy the game while sipping a lovely Blanton's. Just a perfect experience. Kudos to 801!

Stellar service and stellar steak (as it should be for the price). They can do "smaller" portions on many items but the portion might still be very large. They can also do quite a bit as GF. Two of us split a wagyu ribeye, truffle fries, and string beans and we still had food left over. The steak was cooked perfectly and was super tender with lots of flavor. Fries were crispy and string beans had some delicious bacon on them. They even accommodated me with an off-menu ice cream that sounded great. The one thing I probably wouldn't get next time would be a mojito since there were no mint leaves or lime, just like a mix, but that was such a minor thing. The rest of the meal really shined. It's a nice quiet upscale spot that's perfect for a business dinner too, super easy to hear your conversation.

Had a lovely dinner with a friend here. Started with a drink at the bar. Moved into the dining room where we ordered the surf and turf and a 1lb lobster tail. Our sides were the spinach and garlic mashed potatoes. It was absolutely delicious. We had some of the cocktails too, pours were generous. Our waiter was charming and helpful. Thank you 801 Chophouse!

Food: 5/5. We come here 2 or 3 times a year and the food is consistently amazing. We got a bone in filet with bone marrow butter, fellers ranch NY strip with truffle butter, loaded hash browns (these do come with onions if that matters to you), mushroom bake, mac and cheese, and asparagus. The drinks are also great! We had a Manhattan, old fashioned, and pomegranate martini. Service 5/5. The wait staff are very attentive and ensure you consistently have everything you need. Ambiance: 5/5. We went on a Friday at 5 and it was a slower day. I love all of the animal wall art and the overall aesthetic. The booths are very comfortable and feel almost private with higher walls. If you're looking for a high class steak restaurant, this is it! We have tried many in town and have only had consistently great service and food quality at 801. They have a valet if you're worried about parking. Otherwise there is covered parking in the same building they are in.

801 Chophouse has perfected customer service, fine dining, and quality! While in Minnesota we had to knock off at least one fine dining experience and we chose 801 Chophouse. Located conveniently in Downtown Minneapolis, this was a quick short walk, high heels no problem, it's a straight flat walk. I made our reservation and told them it was a special occasion. It's Scorpio season! Life is short so we definitely have to live and appreciate birthdays for the ones we love! We got to the restaurant early and they accommodated an early seating! Upon being seated, I see birthday confetti on the table. Nice touch. Ambiance is elegant yet casual. Patrons were both dressed up and down. Let's get into it! Oysters Rockefeller - Perfect! Crab cake - Perfect! Ribeye - Delicious! Brussel sprouts- PERFECTION! Those Vidalia onions were a perfect combo! Drinks were made to perfection. It's not often my babe gives a drink kudos but he did! Over all, you pay for what you get! Top Dollar, Top Quality! Highly recommend.

    Outstanding Ribeye@ 801 Chophouse!

While in Minneapolis to see #72 beat up on the Gophers, the GF chose 801 Chophouse for our fine dining experience. Side-note, she ate at the brand new location in Tyson's without me, so she felt bad..LOL! I have a birthday coming up fast so she informed them of that and they dressed up our table with bday wishes, which was a nice touch! Our server, I wish I could remember his name, was extremely personable and loved his job. He literally made me change my order from lamb chops to a ribeye just by his description once he ran down each cut of steak they offered. Again, my girl just visited 801 in Tysons, so she was dying for me to try their crab cake and Oysters Rockefeller for our starters. She was RIGHT, they were both AMAZING! Now that we were done with the pre-game, I was anxiously waiting for that aforementioned Ribeye! It came out precut and at the perfect temperature. That thing melted in our mouths. Again, AMAZING! My Old Fashioned was the best drink I've had in a while and guess what, our outstanding server also doubled as the bartender, so he's a hell of a multi-tasker..LOL! 801 Chophouse is UPSCALE, and I've been to a lot of fancy spots in my day, just don't get sticker shocked when you come. Don't make me say I told you so..LOL! Thank you 801 for a great dinner, I was a little shocked I didn't get a complimentary bday dessert, I'll just chalked it up to he forgot!! :))

I had never been heard of this chophouse before, but my brother had mentioned it so we went out on a double date. This is located downtown Minneapolis so plan to either find street parking or park in a ramp. Once you get inside it's a pretty and quiet with ample seating and good space. Our server Santiago was very attentive and friendly. As far as the food goes, all of us got something different. I had the surf and turf and all of it was seasoned really well and tasty. We had 4 sides and enjoyed all of them. The onion rings were huge. All Of these were shareable and we definitely had left overs. My boyfriend had the feller ranch NY stop steak and that was cooked to perfection and also tasty. Overall know that going in the prices are high, but the food quality is definitely worth the price. Know when you are full at the end, if you want dessert you're best off sharing with the size!

Lobster Bisque. I would say mid. There was only one little lump in a big bowl of unflavorful bisque.

Bar service was horrible. Acted like they had better things to do then to serve. Me and my daughter came in to grab a quick bite and to go order. Never have I felt like I shouldn't be at a place. Bar staff gets a ZERO from me. Hostess great. To think we've had family and friend rent out the room several times and to be treated like that was ewe. I was so unhappy

WAY over priced. Many other better steak choices in town. The seafood tower is so mediocre.

The wine list is really thoughtful and leans toward smaller, lesser-known producers and unique regions. Even if you know wine well, there are still plenty of interesting picks here. Just note that by-the-glass options are limited, so it's more of a place where you end up ordering a bottle. The space is beautifully designed. Very minimal, clean, and intentional. It feels elevated without being overdone. It is definitely expensive for what it is. Both the wine and food lean high in price, but you're also paying for the atmosphere and overall experience. The menu is also a bit different in a fun way. The tinned fish selection stands out and isn't something you see often. The radish butter and bread was a highlight and absolutely worth ordering. Service is a little unconventional since you order at the counter, which feels a bit off given the pricing, but everything still runs smoothly.

We wanted a recommendation and the wine picked for us was excellent. Went with the Plavac Milos. The food is honestly incredible! The carrots were my favorite. Someday I'll get enough courage to try the tinned fish. I wish seating was a little more comfortable for the whole "drink a bottle and stay awhile" vibe. It also can get pretty loud when it's busy in the tight quarters.
