I was conflicted as to how to review Fhima's based on a couple of mixed experiences, so I'm averaging out my experiences to a 4/5. Fhima's has an amazing atmosphere and our server throughout a recent meal with a big group was super friendly and patient. Service was great on the previous visit as well - everything went smoothly that first time in general. The decor of the entire place is amazing! For my recent visit, we were told we couldn't get a reservation for our group of 12-15 people in the main restaurant but could be seated in the lounge, which was fine, but I was surprised that the restaurant was fairly empty the entire time we were there and there seemed to be spots we could have been seated. Perhaps it was due to being understaffed for the evening. The first mishap was that my food never showed up with everyone else's, which we later found out was because it was delivered to the wrong table. We got complimentary drinks as an apology which I appreciated. The lamb cigars I had were okay, but I wouldn't order them again. I found that the spices weren't well balanced. The tagines, however, were delicious on both my visits to Fhima's. I'd recommend those for sure. Paying our bills was surprisingly chaotic. When my friend and I got up to pay our bill together, our server somehow tasked us with helping figure out everyone else's bills in the lounge area and was handing us bills to give people. This was uncomfortable and I didn't understand why we were put in this position. Also, despite reiterating what we had ordered, we still had an incorrect extra drink added to our bill and had to ask for that to be corrected. As an odd side note: when our group said our goodbyes, we noticed that multiple people smelled oddly musty and quickly identified that the unpleasant scent came from the lounge armchairs, which on second glance clearly need to be cleaned. I would personally just stick to going to the restaurant side with a small group in the future!

The naan was served warm and paired perfectly with the dips, making for a satisfying start to the meal. The paella was flavorful and generously topped with seafood and veggies, but it was a bit too oily for my taste. Considering there were no other dine-in customers, the service staff was very attentive to our needs. The ambience gave an Italian mafia vibe with the dim/low lighting. Overall, enjoyed the experience and food quality.

Fhima has been on my list to check out and it didn't disappoint! The food presentation is top notch. I had no doubt about their steak and seafood but I was really impressed by the fabulous vegetarian options. The taste of Morocco, vegan cigars and 7 seas salad are so delicious, lots of textures and flavors. I am not a carb fan but I couldn't help with the bread and pita bread. So authentic! Everyone who had wagyu steak was satisfied. The desserts are amazing. Check out the video of the crème brûlée with the sizzling discus. Comparing to many other high end restaurants in downtown, Fhima stood out by the quality and innovation of the food. Highly recommend!

A Culinary Gem in the Heart of Minneapolis After a long day at a work conference, my wife and I were looking for a memorable dinner experience--and Fhima's delivered in every possible way. From the moment we walked in, we were transported to a different era. The 1920s Art Deco interior is absolutely stunning, with glowing chandeliers, velvet textures, and a bar that could easily be a movie set. It's classy, cozy, and quietly buzzing with charm. We started with the sampler appetizer--an incredible way to warm up our palates with bold, layered flavors. My wife ordered the Chicken Tagine, which came beautifully presented and full of rich, comforting North African spices. I went with the Wagyu NY Strip, which was grilled to perfection and paired with saffron rice that was as fragrant as it was flavorful. The rosemary chimichurri on the side added a nice kick. For drinks, my wife had a well-balanced Cosmo, while I couldn't resist their signature Call From Istanbul--a dramatic and smoky twist on the classic Old Fashioned, served with flair (and actual fire). What made the night even better was the attentive, personable service from Eli and Will. Their recommendations were spot on, and they made us feel welcome without ever being overbearing. Whether you're a local or a visiting foodie, Fhima's is an absolute must for date night or any occasion that deserves something special. We'll be talking about this meal for a long time--and already planning our next visit.

Was really looking forward to Fhima's after hearing some great things, but our trip was extremely uninspiring. First, service was one of the slowest that I've ever experienced anywhere. From start to finish, we were left waiting; sometimes in excess of 15 minutes for a two drink order. The drinks were good, but it seems they may have ventured to Istanbul to make them. For the food, I did enjoy the lamb cigars. They are flavorful, unique, and a very well-done dish. The lamb meatball tagine, however, was underwhelming. It was lacking in size even at first glance with some minuscule meatballs tucked inside a fanciful presentation next to a similarly small serving of vegetables. Finally, the other main that we tried was the Wagyu Tenderloin... and I'm not sure it could have gone much worse as the dish was ordered "medium rare" yet came to the table with the inside entirely cold. And I'm not even talking about the center, I'm talking within one cut off the edge. This was returned to have cooked to the appropriate temperature and while the dish wasn't bad once it came back, it was well after everyone else was finished with their meal. Fhima's has a solid drink menu and even some unique food items, but with the level of service experienced, I'm not sure I'd care to venture back again.

Awesome drink selection! Awesome food. Awesome decor. The absinthe drink was done right! The mussel appetizer was my favorite.

What a spectacular experience! This is easily the most beautiful restaurant in the Twin Cities. The interior is truly gorgeous. It's got clear Deco influences with touches that seem slightly palace-inspired. The attention to detail in the decor is exquisite. I felt like I had stepped onto the set of a film set in 1920s Tangier. This attention to detail was present in the service as well. Our server Annabelle was phenomenal. She was highly knowledgeable, very personable, and provided some of the best service I've enjoyed while dining in MSP. My host described it as choreography, and that was apt--there was grace in everything she did. This excellent service was also provided by everyone with whom we interacted, from the valet to the host to the people who refilled our water glass to those who cleared our plates. The service here is first-rate. The artistry of tonight's experience was also (of course) reflected in the food. As you'd expect from Moroccan, there were a variety of textures and layers of flavor with that sweet and savory pairing that is oh so satisfying. This was paired with French, Italian, and Spanish influences, so fans of fusion and Western Mediterranean food will be pleased. We started with the Moroccan sampler. It is an impressive dish that is beautifully presented. I can't pick a favorite component. The olives were lovely--each had its own character, and they all tasted like the Mediterranean. The tahini sauce was deliciously unique. (If you've never had a sweet tahini dip, give it a try!) The shakshuka was rich and had the most beautiful depth of flavor. I think you can taste the sun that the tomatoes grew in. The eggplant confiture was unlike anything I've had before--the brown sugar and allspice was really tasty. This sampler was an excellent showcase of the flavors that Moroccan cuisine has to offer. For my main, I had the gnocchi, and it was absolutely delightful. I'm pretty sure it was hand-rolled on a gnocchi board. Though the pear, walnut, and Gorgonzola combination is classic, this dish was elevated by the unique treatment of the star players. The candied pears were exceptional--hard-caramelized to provide a perfect bittersweet taste and blend of crunch and chewiness. The walnuts were dark-roasted and added additional toastiness, crunch, and a pleasant hint of astringency. These were lovely foils to the rich sauce. The toppings--shaved cheese and fresh sprouts--added additional flavor and texture contrasts. For dessert, we ordered two things to share. I had the baklava, which was delicious. It wasn't too sweet, so the individual flavors of the nuts and spice came through. It was tender and gently flaky, and a lovely treat. However, what I really want to tell you about is the saffron cheesecake. It was easily one of the most fascinating things I have ever eaten. Neither heavy nor too sweet, this dessert is a pleasant way to end the meal. If you like saffron, you must try it. They use the precious spice generously, and it's color, aroma, and flavor shine brilliantly. It was amazing. This is easily one of the best restaurants I've had the pleasure of dining in. Put it on your Twin Cities dining bucket list.

Beautiful and ornate restaurant & bar. We sat at the bar for Social Hour and had drinks and food. Bartender was good and I tried vodka infused with horseradish, delicious as long as you like horseradish. Could only drink 1-2 though. We tried the Moroccan Sampler that was good, but small portion overall. Also tried lamb cigars (almost a Moroccan eggroll). We didn't care for this as too many strong flavors all happening at once. On the pricier spectrum, but glad we tried once.

Ambiance is exquisite! This place captures the decadence and grandeur of the roaring 20s. I was feeling like Leo DiCaprio was going to come down the stairs any minute to sweep us off our feet. Ha! The service started out poorly as we had to wait 20 minutes for the server to greet us after being seated. But he immediately apologized for the wait as they were short staffed and even gave us a complimentary glass of champagne for our troubles. Service was impeccable after that. Since we were now running late for our concert, we decided to turn our dinner into happy hour instead. It may not have been the wisest choice, but it was very fun. The Mama Fhima's Sangria was delicious. We ordered the Moroccan Sampler and it was SO good! The fresh, warm and soft sourdough flat bread that came with the Moroccan Sampler stole the show! I've never had a bad time here and would gladly come back again soon.

Fhima's is so nice. When you walk in it feels very upscale with a nice bar and lighting. The service was great. If you are a fan of whiskey cocktails you must get their old fashion. The lamb cigars were a great way to start our meal as well. I ordered the Wagyu tenderloin and it tasted phenomenal. Very tender, and had a nice crust on the outside. They definitely know what they are doing. Also, we were told The King (LeBron) eats here when in town.

A great date night location. Interior of the restaurant takes you back to the 1920s. The smoked cocktail "Call from Istanbul" is a must. Other restaurants in the twin cities area have a smoked cocktail, however, I appreciated how they prep it your table. Now I must admit I was confused to see cigars listed under the appetizers. I was informed by lovely wife that you eat the "Lamb Cigar". It was great as was the Moroccan Sampler. We order Lamb Shank with Couscous and Saffron Chicken. Both were tender and delicious. For desert we had Pistachio Baklava, and it was delicious, of course! The staff was wonderful and on point. We will be back.

    Croque Monsieur $17
    George M.

I have only tried it for lunch and was a bit disappointed. Hopefully I will get back and tray again for dinner. The Crispy Romaine with Harissa Caesar salad was delicious with the amazing crispy chick peas we couldn't get enough of. The Croque Monsieur was very good and restrained which I liked a tad more than my dining companion. The Butter Burger was terrible however. Anytime a cheeseburger is in the $19 price range, my expectation is it should be flawless, especially when the composition is simple and straightforward as this one was and which I prefer. Unfortunately the beef patties were cooked to death and by wrapping the whole thing in a foil wrapper the bun steamed to an undesirable squishiness. While the presentation my be kitsch (high end burger served liked Arby's), for me it was a miss. Service was great and of course the room is spectacular in all its Arts Deco glory.

Can you eat at the bar?

Most time you can eat at the bar upstairs. There are some points in the evening where the kitchen is extremely busy with dining reservations and underground bar (where you can eat as well) that food service may be suspended for a short time.

Does this place have valet parking?

Yes, they do every time I go there! And a parking ramp too, right across the street and beside them, as well. And YES, they have valet right front by their orange Fhima's awning.

Once seated in comfortable chairs at a table, we were quickly greeted and provided with menus. The cocktail selection is relatively "small" but really nicely varied. Prices seemed a tad steep but frankly, given the quality of the drinks I'd say quite worth it. I started out with the Evita, a nice flavorful gin-base cocktail topped with a nice egg white foam. Very tasty. My wife opted for the Tapaculo, with gin, mezcal, pineapple, banana and bitters over ice. Also quite good. There are also bites available from the associated restaurant I can't recall the name of mine but I can say it was delicious. Bread-like bites with a really tasty dipping sauce. To close out the visit I selected Palo, a smoked aged rum cocktail that was really nice and rich. My wife chose the Nahualito with rum, walnut, amontillado and white chocolate. All should be on your radar. Flora Room really fit the bill for a nice, intimate speakeasy-style spot to spend time. Dark and cozy. Upon entering we were greeted by a woman who was clearly wearing multiple hats as she seemed rushed, a bit off putting and quite frankly distracted. It was Juneteenth the middle of the afternoon and there were maybe 6 people at the bar and one other table besides ours with 2 diners. The person seating us was also our server and the bartender. Menu is small but the items we ordered were all fabulous! Every single one! The collard green dip with cornbread pita chips was absolutely delicious - Think spinach artichoke dip but soul food! The salmon croquettes with lemon herb aioli and arugula salad that accompanied were fresh and light! The catfish sandwich with fries was hot, crispy and well seasoned with fresh lettuce and tomato on a perfectly tender brioche bun. I want to return so bad for the food but it was clear this host, server, bartender and partial cook was pulled in too many directions and that severely compromised our service and gave us stand off energy as first time patrons. I looked it up and she is actually one of the owners. She came across as irritated especially once we didn't order any alcoholic drinks first and then very short and curt following. What took the cake was her telling us she was leaving for the day and needed to close our tab while we were eating. Didn't ask did we want to order anything else and there was another server taking her place and an empty restaurant! My partner had to put his sandwich down wipe his hands pull out his wallet while she stood there impatiently. Then proceeded to linger around hugging her regular bar patrons. It was clear this is a "regulars" spot and if you're not one you're rolling the dice on the service you may or may not get. We were patient and didn't complain because it was Juneteenth and our intention to support black restaurants all weekend. Had planned to return for live music but unfortunately the off putting energy and unwelcoming vibe may have squashed that possibility. I hope they improve service because the food is delicious and deserves attention from a larger and more sophisticated audience.

As a NS4L and small business owner, I've tried to support this business, but tonight, my third…read moreattempt was the last straw. I made a reservation on Resy (I'll be letting American Express know that this establishment doesn't honor such things) for my birthday celebration at 7 pm. It was 7:30 before our order for beverages was taken. Then 8 pm before drinks arrived and appetizers could be ordered. At 8:45 pm, we finally could put in our dinner order. Only to be notified st 8:59 pm that our table (along with several others) were reserved for friends of the host for the second part of night and we needed to vacate the table for other people We had to box our just arrived dinner meals and stand with our drinks. Several nearby tables offered to let us sit with them as they thought it was awful that we were upended and we standing there with full drinks and our meals in cardboard containers. When we told our waitress that we wouldn't have ordered dinner or more drinks if we had known, she said that she found out one minute before she told us. She offered us two seats at a couch nearby to finish our drinks and try to eat our dinners. Only for the owner Fonzie to come over a couple minutes later and tell us that we couldn't sit there because other people were coming in for that spot too. Nothing in the reservation said that it was a limited slot and the fact that even the waitress was unaware that we were going to have to leave to table literally after our dinner was brought to us speaks to the lack of business management or understanding of this establishment. I've tried to give this spot a chance. But after a very disappointing attempt to celebrate my birthday this evening, I will not be returning. The lack of any attempt by Fonzie to rectify this situation was disappointing at best. Several hundred dollars down the drain and a ruined birthday celebration Is not how I envisioned my evening I normally do not make my posts public/sharable. But this time, I welcome you all to share this and warn people of the lackluster way that this business expects people to spend our time and money.

The service was appropriately lowkey and prompt. Their food might seem a bit expensive, but their portions are generous. The fries were reminiscent of McDonald's fries in the best way, just fresher and crispier! We tried the Parlour burger and the chicken sandwich, both of which were simple but delicious.

Each…read morebeef patty is much thinner now than it used to be so the outter edge crisp is somewhat all throughout the patty being that thin. This makes the burger really chewy and you really can't taste the beef anymore like you used to when it was thicker. I would take this as it's not as good as it used to be. It is not as good as the original hype from the beginning. In conclusion, I do not think it's worth the $19. I rather get a cheesesteak for $16 at Tono's which comes with fresh not burnt fries rather than come back here and get a burger here. It's highly unlikely I will be back here. I honestly feel like the burgers have gone way WAY downhill. The fries here have gotten terrible so I stopped getting the fries a long time ago. They are not soft crisp like they used to be. They are too golden brown color, almost like burnt hard fries. I never like to eat down here. I normally would order the Parlour burger upstairs. The basement part which is Parlour has a weird smell like a locker room smell so that's why I don't like to eat down here.

Such a cool and fun experience! We were in the area for dinner and on a whim decided to check out…read morethe "speakeasy" in the area. We had no idea where to go, but heard to go down an alleyway behind up-down and then saw a random door that we had no idea was the entrance until another group came over! We knocked and they slid the door hole open to speak, it was so fun! Felt like a real speakeasy. Once we were in, we were seated in the back. There was an hour and 1/2 limit, but that was plenty of time for us to have a drink. I ordered the Me Espresso and my husband ordered the special of the day, which was a scotch with a special twist. Both were delicious! Definitely a little pricier, but the atmosphere made up for the cost. Overall I would definitely recommend! Next time we may wait for a booth to be served out of a window in the wall, did not know about that until we got there! Such a fun touch.

I did read something about it having a speakeasy vibe but didn't realize it was a full on hidden spot. I tried the doors but they were locked. A couple living on the street were hanging out there so it was feeling a little sketchy. It was then i saw a gal walk down the dark side alley. I thought, correctly, it was be around back. Luckily I had a reservation, or the guy behind the door acted like I wasn't getting in. I got a spot at the dimly lit bar right as the 1st set was starting. The band was fun; a 4 piece with Trombone lead. They were playing some jazz standards which was good for this crowd. The bartender was great. She made a couple unique drinks, including one off the menu called airmail, which was a version of a French 75. It was a great night all around, and I hope to make it back again while I'm in town.
