Our goto order is the Shredder which is slightly spicy pepperoni but it is incredible. The "wranch" is also a must try, it is phenomenal. For ordering they typically have QR codes inside the brewery and you order from your phone, then pick it up from the truck outside. We love Detroit style pizza, and this was baked to perfection. The edges were crispy and caramelized while the inside was fluffy. In my opinion, you can never go wrong with a meat lovers pizza. Wrecktangle elevated it by adding a bacon jam which was absolutely drool worthy. It was salty, savory, and sweet - creating the perfect bite. Finally tried Wrecktangle Pizza in The Galley North Loop. Lots of good options on the menu, but decided to go with a meat lovers. The pizza is made-to-order, so it is a fresh as it gets. The flavors are good, and those crispy edges from the detroit-style, rectangular pizza are always appreciated. My only observation is that while the toppings combined have incredible flavor (I could eat that bacon jam every day!), the dough and sauce fall a little flat -- if you have a bite without toppings, or light on toppings, it feels underwhelming. The pizza is a little small, so enough for one very hungry person or to split with someone else, but definitely not a main meal for several people. Unfortunately this did not live up to the hype for me or the 3 kiddos I had with me. The staff here was very friendly! There was no line on a Sunday afternoon, and I was able to walk right up. They had lots of options, but I got a classic cheese and pepperoni since I had kids with me. This may have been the mistake. The crust was delicious but the sauce was bland and there wasn't a lot of cheese... my nephew who is 13 noted "I feel like we have had better gas station pizza" .... And I'd have to agree. Finally stopped by the Wrecktangle Pizza Food Truck as they were the truck of the week at the Northeast Farmer's Market. I was really happy to see them there because I had heard that their breakfast pizza won some very large national award a few months back for the best pizza. Even better, I was at the farmer's market right around breakfast so no better time to try the special slice. I ordered just one slice and the bill was pretty steep - came out to around 10 bucks and change for just one slice so I had really high expectations. The pizza looked great, nice old thick cut of Detroit style pizza with egg, cheese, and sausage on top. I took one bite and was very pleased. The pizza was delicious, the bread was airy yet crispy, the toppings were savory and a tiny bit sweet, and although it was just 1 slice it was very filling. This was a really delicious way to start the day. Now, I will say that as a New York native I will say this is a completely different dish than "pizza", but what I can agree with is that it was delicious. The server was very nice, and you can purchase a few different types of slices from the food truck including standard cheese. They even offer some sides of house-made ranch (it does cost extra). Since I still haven't been to the actual restaurant yet, I can't weigh in on the atmosphere there. However, I can say that I've heard lovely things from my friends who I trust with food. read more

The pepperoni were the small thin coins that perfectly crisp and curl. Our preference would have been for sausage and mushrooms in addition to the other items. The Galley is tough for parking and incredibly loud. Texturally both pizzas were amazing, crispy little pepperonis, and crunchy edges! My partner has a sweet tooth so he enjoyed the honey on the Shredder. The Elote pizza was my pick! It was yummy and I appreciated the addition of a lime to squeeze on top. I'm picky about acid. Even with the lime I might add some other pickled veggie on top next time for a little bit more of a vinegar and salt kick. But THEN I tried it and I raced back here to amend my review. It's a perfect version of the classic Caesar. I taste a bit of lemon tossed with the lettuce and the dressing they provided (amply, by the way) has that delicious umami you can only get from a homemade Caesar dressing. Five stars, guys. Caesar Salad: Needed to start with something green before devouring the cheesy goodness. This was a mound of Caesar Salad and tasted so good that I didn't get a picture before over half of it was eaten. Ground bread crumbs topped a dressed Caesar salad with crunch romaine and plenty of cheese (you aren't at a pizza place if everything doesn't have cheese). Garlic Cheese Styx: Cheddar Jack, WP Cheese Blend, Pecorino Romano on a bed of garlicky bread due to a good dosage of garlic butter. Parsley for a little herbal spiciness. Side of marinara for dipping this cheesy goodness into. Shredder Pizza: This one is the perfect blend of flavors. The savory fatty pepperoni cupped to hold those lovely oils and Whipped Cry Baby Craig's Honey balanced by spicy Jalapenos. Pecorino Romano dumped on a base Red Sauce rounds out the 'za on top of a fluffy pizza base. The outer rim has a crunchy cheese that I could eat all day and is necessary for a good Detroit Style pizza. This is what dreams are made of. If you are into Detroit Style pizza, come here. I've heard good things about this place, but you truly have to taste it to believe how freaking good it is. I shared two pizzas between two of my friends and we were stuffed...but also wanted more. The pizza is so so good, I've never had anything as good. The Community pizza was definitely our favorite of the two we got, but the Elote one was also lots of fun. I've never had a pizza like it before, so I loved getting to try something new. Wrecktangle is popular in MPLS, so we had to wait a bit. But we just ordered some drinks and enjoyed the suspense. I recently just found out about the North Loop Galley, a nice and spacious cafeteria style place to eat, with a bar in the middle. They do follow the COVID-19 precautions, and the place itself is spacious, so you definitely won't be near others. There are currently 3 restaurants you can order from, and Wrecktangle Pizza is one of them. To be honest, I wasn't in the mood for pizza, especially a deep dish kind. However, being my first time dining there, I decided to give it a try. For pizza in general, I usually go with the usual cheese or pepperoni pizza. But being that it is a deep dish pizza, why not give one of the specialties a try. I got the Shredder pizza: Pepperoni, Pickled Jalapeños, Honey, Pecorino Romano, Red Sauce. My experience? Please forgive me for doubting you Wrecktangle Pizza. The pizza was a love at first sight when it arrived. The crust was charred in such a good way. My first slice, I had to go for the corner piece. With that first bite on the charred corner, I was in heaven. The crunch from the crust, then soft and fluffy dough as your teeth seeps deeper in. The flavors were nice; savory from the pepperoni, acidic from the pickled jalapenos and sauce, and a slight hint of sweetness from the honey. Perfect combinations of flavors and textures. The pizza is a good size. I would say it's enough to share between 2-3 people. Two slices (out of six) and I was feeling pretty good, so I took the rest home. As I ate it later in the day, the crust was still crunchy. Wrecktangle Pizza is amazing. If you have a chance to try them out, definitely do. You won't regret it. read more

Edges of pizza were crispy good amount of sauce for the thicker crust. Hopefully everyone's heard of the North Loop Galley food hall located in Nordic Plaza where Freehouse's old parking lot used to be. Wrecktangle Pizza is one of four restaurants in the food hall, along with a nice sized bar that has some delicious, refreshing drinks. The best way to describe Wrecktangle Pizza is Detroit Style and if you don't know what that is, think of deep dish, crispy edges, with smaller pepperoni that's crisped nicely. Similar to the name, the pizza is in the shape of a wrecktangle and it's cut into six (wrecktangle) pieces. I'm pretty sure the most popular is The Shredder, which has pepperoni, pickled chili, red sauce, whipped cry baby Craig's honey, and pecorino romano. Talk about a tasty wrecktangle of deliciousness! At first blush, the pizza might look a little burned, but that's how it's supposed to be - the edges of the crust are crisped nicely. While one might think a wrecktangle pizza that's about 8" by 10" isn't very big, after eating only half of this pizza, I was stuffed and this was on Super Bowl Sunday! The Shredder costs $12+tax and tip, and they have other styles for just about anyone, plus you can always customize your own wrecktangle. I have several friends from Michigan and they've told me Wrecktangle is the closest to real Detroit style they've had in Minnesota, even better than Jet's Pizza. The pizzas take about 20 minutes to cook, so go for a walk, enjoy Nordic Plaza or grab a drink. It's just good and comforting. A very small side note. My sweetheart and I like garlic on our pizza.
