Service was exceptional from start to finish. I love that they text you to find out any dietary restrictions ahead of time. I was pregnant when we visited the restaurant and they were very knowledgeable or were immediately able to find out what was pasteurized or unpasteurized. I ordered salmon well done, and it was perfect, not a hint of dryness. We came for my birthday but didn't have dessert (cake was waiting at home) but they brought out a small dish with complimentary truffles and a candle. Such a classy touch. Afternoon Tea Review! Overall a lovely experience. Some areas for improvement. Making a reservation was easy online. It is a prepaid reservation. I appreciated that gratuity was included. When you arrive, after checking in with the host stand, you wait in the lounge and then are escorted to your seat after 11:30. I found this odd. The space is of course lovely. The dining room is large, and it felt like we had some privacy despite it being a sold out full room. The experience starts with a sparkling tea, which was SO delicious. We were offered a cocktail right away. It felt like immediate upselling, which I didn't love, but our server was lovely and we felt very taken care of the entire time. The tea selection was great. I appreciated the in depth description of each one. The peppermint was excellent! Most of the food was incredible! Some of the sandwiches felt a little dry/stale. But I really loved and appreciated the variety. It felt like a good value. The pastries were the winners here. My favorite was the chocolate mousse and the blueberry tart. read more

The wait staff were very knowledgeable, the vibes were top notch, and the food was spectacular. Our favorites were the fried walleye sliders, chicken wings, and squash ravioli. The hummus was delicious but the seasoning on the pita was very burnt giving it a bitter taste. The bucatini was delicious and I would order it again. The kabob and rice was the best thing we ordered with authentic middle eastern flavors. We chose this restaurant for our anniversary "day date." We shared this information with the restaurant hoping we'd possibly be placed in a nice, quiet corner in the restaurant. Although the restaurant was nearly empty, we were placed next to a loud businessman on a zoom call at his table and a photo shoot at the bar. It was a great place, bad timing I guess. The restaurant manager did come up to us before we left and congratulated us, and even apologized for the traffic in the bar. Found this spot thanks to a reel on instagram and boy am I glad I did. A friend and I went here on a Friday night. We were greeted by name by our server who was top tier the entire night. The bar at Mara is fantastic, beautiful, classy, and gives Minneapolis that urbane touch. The incomparable Pip, a bartender with the worldly affect of a bygone era, enhanced our experience. Not only were his cocktails perfect, but we also discussed music, philosophy, and topics usually reserved for the early 1930s Paris salon hosted by Alice B. Toklas and Gertrude Stein. The bar menu is a delight, featuring a diverse array of unique offerings. Mara's chicken wings are like no chicken wings you have ever tasted. They're amazing! My swordfish skewers were so good, I ordered another serving. I can be a pig, but I love delicious food. Our fries were done just the way I like. Prices are high, but you get what you pay for. My friends and I celebrated our friend's birthday here. This was the only place in the North Loop we could get a reservation for 5 people on a Friday night. We ordered somewhat family style but kind of grouped up and split things with one other friend. Our server was attentive but we didn't enjoy the chef telling us how we should eat our meal coursing wise. It all ended up working out fine, just annoying. Receiving the complimentary bread was a nice perk we weren't expecting and tided us over until all the food arrived. I really enjoy going to eat at Mara, both for breakfast and dinner. They infuse Mediterranean flavors into classic dishes in some really inventive ways. Some highlights for breakfast include the Sorghum Pancakes which are super light and not too sweet. Honestly some of the best pancakes I've ever had. My husband also really enjoyed his breakfast sandwich with shawarma instead of the classic bacon/sausage. The Mara omelette is another great option and they have great crispy potatoes. For dinner their calamari is very good and don't sleep on the roasted veggies, they make some great accompanying sauces that you will want to mop up. Service is typically very good with servers checking in on you but are otherwise unobtrusive. Had such an incredible and unique dinner experience at Mara! We were celebrating the December birthdays in my friend group - mine included ! Definitely a great place for a girl's night out. Let's start with parking, because that always stresses me out. We had an 8:15pm reservation for a Friday and downtown was absolutely packed. I didn't feel comfortable parking too far so I ended up circling for about 10 mins before finding a spot a couple blocks away. Phew ! Keep this in mind when dining here - it's in a busy area ! They do offer valet, but I didn't ask the price. It did take us a while to be seated. 10 mins. The waiting area is beautiful - the whole restaurant has an elevated vibe with deep maroon curtains and beautiful upholstered seating. Dinner was amazing - I absolutely loved the mocktails. I got the Metropolitan which had a cranberry flavor. They have a menu that shows Halal options of menu items that don't have pork or alcohol. The waiter was also very careful to explain that the menu items that do have alcohol cook out, but wanted to ensure I wouldn't order something I can't have. I appreciated this! We got potatoes and hummus as an appetizer. I really loved the crispy potatoes ! The potatoes and aioli at the bottom was so delicious. Perfectly salted too. I didn't think the hummus was more unique than other hummus I have tried. The crunchy fried beans on top were a nice touch. I loved the fluffy naan it came with. I ordered the Redfish. It was absolutely divine. Lots of flavors going on and I loved the beurre Blanc sauce used. The onions on top were caramelized nicely. I tried my friend's Chermoula Spiced Chicken which was very delicious too! Also tried the bucatini with lobster. I wasn't a big fan of the bucatini but It's personal preference because I don't really like red sauce much unless it's in pizza or a lasagna. We got the olive oil cake for dessert. It was good, but not what I was expecting. It had a custard on top, very thin layer of cake, and chocolate surrounding it. It was good but probably wouldn't get it again. I was a little surprised they didn't offer a birthday treat or even just a candle on the dessert. Especially since we were celebrating two birthdays. On that note, I did love how the staff gave us a spot right near the fireplace and made room on the counter next to us to put all our gifts! It does cost $8 a slice to cut a cake at the restaurant, so we didn't go that route. But keep that in mind if you're planning on bringing cake. Wow!!! This place blew me away. We walked in on Sunday for dinner and got in without trouble. Big restaurant in the hotel so could see needing reservations if coming on the weekend evenings. We had great service, lucky enough the Sommelier was our server as well so she helped us on both food options and wine. We started with the seasonal tomato hummus which was incredible. Flavor was great but texture was amazing, smooth and creamy. The warm fresh pita topped it off! For dinner I had the agnolotti pasta which was in a butter sauce with sweet corn, piquillo peppers and garlic breadcrumbs. I can't even explain how amazing all the flavors went together between the sweet, salty and savory. The chicken was also phenomenal with the glaze on top. We split the potatoes as a side and this was the only thing we didn't love. The sauce is on the bottom so you have to kind of dig for it so potatoes seemed dry. I've dined here so many times now and i highly recommend it. Everything i've had has always been incredible whether it be for brunch or dinner. I loved how they gave us complimentary sesame bread to start, which must be new because this was my first time receiving it. This time, i got the sardine toast for an appetizer which was really good. But the star of the show was 1000% the grilled swordfish, it was insanely good. The fregola sarda pasta was incredible with it and the romesco sauce was just chef's kiss. The whole dish was so cohesive and cooked perfectly, i would definitely get it again. For dessert i got the pavlova. I appreciated how it wasn't a massive serving and was overall refreshing, a great way to end the meal. The service here is also wonderful, everyone is so kind and professional. I met Chef Gavin Kaysen at a James Beard fundraising event in Kansas City several years ago. Soon after that, I made a trip to Minneapolis and dined at Spoon and Stable. An amazing evening. Now I'm back in Minneapolis and it's time to try his new Mediterranean dining destination, Mara at the Four Seasons. You know it has to be good if it's located at this hotel. Maybe it was the influence of my dining guest, but we were seated at the table next to the kitchen. Watching the kitchen staff in action reminded me of scenes from The Bear. Non-stop movement, lots of communication and strong attention to detail. Mary was our server and was superb. She guided us thru the menu and was always attentive to our needs during the evening. We tasted most of the signature items on the menu. We started with the amazing Tomato Hummus, which I could have eaten all night. Next up the Sea Bass Crudo and it's amazing presentation. For the pastas, you have a choice between a full and half order. We selected the Bucatini half-portion and its thick noodles and rich lobster and roasted tomato sauce. For entrees, I ordered the Salt Baked Branzino, while my partner had the Chermoula Spiced Chicken. I've never seen fish cooked inside a pastry shell, until this evening. A server comes out with a cart and cuts open the shell to reveal the de-boned fish. She then placed the fish on a plate, along with baby vegetables and lobster sauce on the fish. Magnificent. I can't believe we tried dessert after eating all of this, but we made room for one serving of Strawberry Field, with Valrhona Strawberry Chocolate. Delish! It's very possible I just didn't order the right items for this style of restaurant. I would argue that if put an item on the menu, then you should want to execute and deliver an excellent product. The ambiance and vibes are nice for the bar area (which is where I dined in at) The bartenders are very professional and have a very good attention to detail when it comes to serving their customers. Burger: it would've been a good burger if they served it on a quality bun. I had to literally eat the burger with a fork and knife due to it falling apart after one bite. The bun seemed stale or something, idk but it was crumbly and broke apart with little to no effort. The actual meat was flavorful and I enjoyed it (big pause). I just think the burger could've been above average instead of below average if they just switch out the bun or serve a fresh bun that isn't stale. The fries: the French fries were crispy and weirdly addicting. The seasoning they used tased like a Mediterranean seasoning with notes of turmeric maybe or paprika. The wings: VERY DISAPPOINTING!!! The wings were a slimy, poor breading, poor overall taste. I'm not saying the wings were undercooked. I'm just saying they weee executed poorly. Especially considering the price point. If you're charging that price for wings, make sure you get it right. The slaw it came with was not bad, i didn't mind it. The calamari: NOT PICTURED BUT ALSO NOT GOOD AT ALL. The calamari had a rubbery texture and damn near was flavorless. The texture was also very tough and the breading came apart but the actual calamari stayed in tact. Not a fan. Would not order nor would I recommend. Again I reiterate. If you're going to charge these prices for food. You better damn near make sure to execute and deliver a quality product. I'm sure they have other items on the menu that are good tho. So go out and try this restaurant for yourself. Just don't order what I ordered lol read more

I've taken too long to write this review. From walking in to being seated ,the ambiance is TOP NOTCH! Beautiful space with warm welcoming staff who greeted you with smiles. The lunch menu is small enough to really concentrate on the description of each dish. I love that! Started with a white tea beverage that had a hint of jasmine dancing on my taste buds. It was refreshing and delicious and you felt fancy sipping it as it was served in a lovely wine glass. The first appetizer arrived at the table and even though I have never been a fan of hummus, this dish took it to the next level and the fried chickpeas gave it texture that was needed and so delicious. I'm not sure I can go back to regular hummus now! lol and let's talk about the pita that accompanies it...it's seasoned and served warm...YUM! I then tried the fattoush salad with salmon which was cooked to perfection. My lunch partner had the bucatini with prawns and she raved about how tasty it was. There's a variety of food, and it is all cooked very well! It was served up in individual plates or cups to be easy to grab. I wish there was a way to request just a plate of shrimp and not take 6 cups of the shrimp, for example. I would highly recommend ordering the small menu items on the made-to-order card on the table when you sit down. The meat and the eggs were absolutely delicious! The restaurant is located in the main level of the Four Seasons hotel -- so expectations were high. We had a reservation and were seated quickly. The restaurant has an open floor concept with the kitchen fully exposed as well. I love the openness but struggled with the noise. Started simply, the ambience wasn't romantic or intimate, it was more of a ruckus. Sarah was our server and she was polite and professional-- greeting us by name and introducing herself as we were seated. She provided good recommendations and helped me avoid items with dairy very confidently. OUr drink orders arrived in a timely manner and our food order was captured at that time as well... And then the great waiting period began. Our drinks were gone...as were most of the people who had been sitting next to us...by the time our order finally arrived (lamb shank and Brussels) with almost no check-ins, drink refills or even acknowledgement that we were there. When the food finally arrived the lamb shank was satisfactory but the Brussels were terribly over charred. For the single entree, two sides (the Brussels and some hummus/overdone pita bread) and the two drinks - our bill was over $150, before tip. The price didn't surprise me, given the location, but you can't over cook the pita and Brussels while also taking too long to serve the food in a loud environment and still expect a glowing review. Mara delivers an elegant dining experience in Minneapolis' Four Seasons. You need not be a guest to make a reservation, but rest assured you will be among some elite diners during your meal. Their dinner menu wasn't as appealing to me, so I ended up visiting twice for Sunday brunch a few weekends apart. I would first like to comment on the interior decor. The chairs, lighting, vaulted ceilings, and intricate tile fireplace transports you away from the city. With plenty of natural light and a color scheme focused on greens, oranges, golds and blues, it feels almost palace-like. The service was also excellent. Very attentive, polite staff that genuinely care about your experience. I ordered the Mara Omelet on both occasions and would caution that portion sizes are not very large. The omelet features a delicate egg burrito filled with Boursin cheese and topped with Hen of the Woods mushrooms. My first was better than my second, with hot Boursin oozing from the interior; my second arrived cold and was less appealing. Their Breakfast Potatoes were delicious however. Cut in half with a fried, crispy exterior and plenty of flavor. I would suggest ordering them as a side if they don't come with your dish. My friends' dishes were a bit more decadent; one ordered the Eggs Benedict and the other opted for the waffle with pistachio cream and berries (not sure it's still on the menu?). Both were pleased with their choices. My other friend also ordered the omelet and agreed that the potatoes slapped and the omelet was just okay, could have used more mushrooms and cheese, and maybe another egg! Cute spot! Super accommodating and child friendly! We only went for Sunday Brunch near Christmas time but have to say we were quite impressed with the spread! It's definitely Mediterranean themed but the had the classics including pancakes, waffles, an entire bar or different breads, an entire seafood bar, shashuka, Turkish eggs, variety of potatoes, chia pudding, yogurt parfait. They had a meat carving station for anyone that wanted. They also allowed you to order eggs your way, you can do this when you sit down and they bring to your table. They also had Santa walking around for pictures. The desserts bar was slightly overwhelming but nice to try a little bite of everything from various cookies, cakes, cupcakes, macrons! They do have a coat check and they offered a blanket for our baby and we could comfortably wheel our stroller in. They also offered a high chair for her though thankfully she was napping comfortable for most of it- it's not particularly quiet but our 6 month old didn't seem to be bothered by it. Unfortunately, Mara didn't live up to the expectation we had coming in. We went for Sunday brunch which also coincided with Father's Day. It all started at the front , where the hostess was quite scattered. It took about 10 minutes before we were seated. It took a while for our server to come and when he did acknowledge us, there was no introduction. In fact, we didn't even realize he was our server until we came back with our first plate of food after helping ourselves and he told us drinks like juice and coffee were included. He could have been a busser for all we knew and we don't even know what his name was. The food quality was fine. The sausage, bacon and potatoes were the better of the items. Which for the price, is not justifiable, as those are the most basic of items. The desserts were not great either. They were quite sweet. They had a chocolate fountain but only marshmallows and strawberries to dip in it and there were no picks to grab those things that we could find. Maybe some pound cake or more fruit, etc. would have been nice to dip inside. Pretty looking food/presentation only goes so far. Taste is far more important. Valet is complimentary which is nice and the valet attendants were kind. But the service in the restaurant really brought down the whole experience. The restaurant service did not meet the standards you would expect from a Four Seasons property and was certainly not worth the $65. read more

Our family loves Mara and all the staff that works so hard there. Nic and David as great servers in the morning - which is one of our favorite breakfast spots. Happy hour at the bar is very nice with the drinks and complementary toasted chickpeas. And be never had diner there, but they always seem busy and everyone looks happy! We stopped by for Father's Day brunch. Parking was complimentary which is always a plus in downtown. Seating for our reservations took a little longer but it was fine. The brunch was very good. Every item was well cooked, quality ingredients, great flavors. We really liked it for several reasons: -they have fries and tenders for the kids. So appreciated as happy kids = peaceful dining for all -not a ton of options but keep in mind it's a higher end buffet, I rather have fewer items done well -famous potatoes, steak, ham, frittata goood -summer sausage and bacon were good - Turkish eggs, waffles were great. The waffles were light fluffy and crispy. The orange mascarpone cream was out of this world -charcuterie was fresh, the salad toppings were great. I wish there was more than one option for dressing. -desserts ... what can I say, a room just for desserts. The cakes were out of this world l. -drinks were awesome Ambiance: amazing food without the pretentiousness. Service was good. Why not five stars? I think the flow of service can be worked out a little more. Desserts were empty for a little bit, some items were out but. It was all replenished with a little time. 5 star experience, 5 star drinks and 5 star food! I snagged a reservation here for an early dinner before a nearby concert, and I'm so glad I did! The moment we arrived, the entire atmosphere is so relaxing and inviting. We first sat in the bar area before our table was ready and were greated by a lovely server who so eloquently described the signature cocktails. I ended up with the a fermented ginger drink that was fabulous. My friend opted for their special Negroni. Even the limes in my drink were carved with intention. We then were led to our table in the main dining space. Our server Kyle was absolutely one of the best I've ever had. He was kind, well spoken, knowledgeable and positive. We ordered the gem lettuces, lobster bucatini and crispy potatoes. Everything was BURSTING with flavor and was super unique. Even the crispy potatoes were above and beyond tasty with a semi spicy aioli. We ended our meal (and prepared for the concert) with espresso martinis. Also one of the best I've ever had. Everything here was executed wonderfully and with ease. I loved the open concept kitchen and enjoyed the mood of the restaurant. We noted it felt like a high end restaurant in Vegas. read more
