Came back under the new owners and was blown away by how insanely good their pasta is. Truly some of the best pasta I've had, and for sure in the twin cities. I got the fusilli and LOVED it. We also tried their arancini and it was to die for. Taste wise very comparable to a traditionally arancini, but even better because they served it with a creamy cheese sauce. It has been a few years since I have been to ie Italian Eatery. My first time here was back in October 2021 with a group of new friends whom I have become pretty close with and my most recent visit this past Sunday was with them and it was nice to be back together! We ordered a variety of dishes to share and it was a great meal and capped off with a nice Tiramisu dessert. The servers were pretty friendly and attentive - they stopped by many times during our meal to check on us. We came on a Thursday night for my wife's birthday and heard of this restaurant because Travail is our favorite place in the Twin Cities. Travail purchased this restaurant and reopened last year. Here are my ratings of each item that our group ordered. Cocktails: Seasonal Spritz - 8.5 - so beautifully sharp and carbonated, reminded me a little of sangria Vilo - 6.8 - very unique flavor cocktail. I'm not a grapefruit lover and found this to be little bitter. They were out of the Mule's Mistress which is the cocktail I wanted to try. Food: Bread - 8.8/10 - Butter was very good and creamy, pretty standard bread but super fresh and I kept coming back for more. Roman Meatballs - 9.3-10 - This was the best thing I ate all night. Perfectly cooked, amazing pomodoro sauce. We were talking about how if we came back we'd get spaghetti with these meatballs. Apple + Root Salad - 9.1/10 - Probably the surprise of the night. Everyone loved this salad and we ordered two. The lemon vinaigrette dressing, strips of apple were all so refreshing and great flavor. 720 Day Prosciutto Burrata - 7.7/10 - The burrata didn't have the typical soft, creamy texture I'm used to, but good flavor along with decent grilled bread. I'm not a prosciutto fan usually but the aging did make this better and less salty. Mostly rating on behalf of the burrata. Rigatoni - 8.0 - This tasted good with vodka sauce and sausage, however I found the noodle to be a little floppy and would have preferred more al dente. Came in expecting this to be my favorite. Calabrian Cauliflower - 7.0 - Pretty good, a little spicy, maybe overdone with the sauce. Heirloom Potatoes - 5.0 - This was the most unusual experience of the night. How could anything go wrong with a potato? Well, the "Nduja aioli" ruined the dish for me. Maybe some kind of spice that didn't agree with my palette but others didn't mind it so take that as you will. Again, could have used less suace. Mushroom Cappelletti - 8.5 - Another surprise of the night is that this was my favorite of the pastas we tried. Very creamy, white sauce. Mushrooms are not typically one of my go-to's but the whiskey age shoyu, creme fraiche really elevated this dish. Couldn't eat a whole plate because of how rich it was but high marks. Bucatini - 7.9 - Enjoyed the nice chewy texture of the pasta, otherwise solid, nothing particularly noteworthy. Service was good, very attentive to allergy considerations in our group. No complimentary dessert for birthday :P Good atmosphere, not too crowded or loud. Friendly staff all around. The reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is because the pasta doesn't blow me away which I would think would be the star as an Italian restaurant. Walked in on a busy Friday evening and snagged a spot at the bar. This is a buzzy spot that is deceivingly large on the inside. There was a bit of a wait for a table, but not long. Patio szn will make this spot amazing. The little side bar outside the front door with bistro seats is a lovely place to wait for your table. Lots of folks grabbing apertivo and limoncello flights. I'm no Italian wine expert so thank goodness for ChatGPT to help me out with picking a wine. I think the bartender was also grateful for this because she was busy. No fuss, better get ready to order! Came here while visiting some friends for the weekend. Menu is a little small and honestly a little expensive for the amount you get. I'd expect that to have translated to incredible flavor but I has a little underwhelmed. I had the casarecce and it was pretty salty. My wife had the trottole and said it was just okay. We did really like the mushroom bruschetta, but I think it was a little overpriced at $14 for 2 pieces. Service was pretty quick despite how busy they were. There is a small parking lot that fills up quickly, so be prepared to use street parking on this busy stretch. The food never disappoints. Visited 11/9/25. Back at Italian Eatery! It was pretty busy on this given night (a Sunday), which was surprising, but I'm glad that they're doing so well! We made a reservation in advance for three of us and were seated right away. Service was a bit slower just because of how many people were there, but our waitress was very kind and knowledgeable when she could see us and check in. To start we got the mushroom bruschetta app, which had good flavor, but I would've thought more of complimentary bread or a cheap bread/olive oil option to be honest (I know that's not much of a thing anymore though). For dinner, my friend and I got the due sfoglia seasonal option and our other friend got the rigatoni. The due sfoglia was so unique and was such a fun seasonal option. The bitterness of the radicchio on top worked really well and made for flavorful bites. My only slight qualm was that the ends of the pasta sheets end up really crispy and dry so could benefit from a drizzle of sauce or something on them just because they weren't amazing on their own. I stopped into ie Italian eatery late one Friday evening. Driving home from a happy hour I wanted a quick but delicious bite. IE had good reviews and the restaurant was not too far from me. I was pleasantly surprised by the intimate feel of IE. The wooden tables and chairs are incredibly comfortable and there is ample space for multiple party sizes. They have 2 dining rooms and an outdoor seating area. I walked in and was seated right away, the hostess was too kind. The menu is simple, a handful of shareable items, salads, pastas, entrees, and sides. This made my decision much simpler than I had anticipated. I wanted to get a sense of what the food tasted like so I ordered one item - the bucatini. This is one of the tastiest meals I've had in Minnesota. I rarely say that but ie earned the label. This is a tomato based sauce with pecorino and guanciale. There was just a hint of that pecorino with each bite which I quite enjoyed. The guanciale added saltiness and a firm texture to the dish. 5/5 I completely recommend. And to top it off, Aaron was a fantastic server. We were truly wowed by every item we ate, with 2 appetizers, the arancini and meatballs and 4 pasta dishes to share. Which we did family style and they don't technically do it that way but made it possible for us. First time at IE since the reopening with new owners. We sat on the patio at 8pm on a Friday night, it was fairly busy but there were still empty tables. I love their patio in the summer and the inside cozy vibes during the cold months. We ordered drinks, and the halibut crudo to start. The halibut appetizer was presented beautifully!! It was fun to try something new. It was a bit fishy for me (I prefer salmon crudo) but still delicious. Our drinks took a while to come out, we had finished our appetizer by then. The bar might've been a bit behind. We ordered the pappardelle and the mushroom cappelletti, and we added meatballs on the side. After we had been waiting a bit our waitress let us know they were out of clams for the pappardelle. We said it was okay, (I wish there was a price cut or some type of substitution) but figured the shrimp would be enough. At this point our waitress was super busy with other tables so we flagged down someone else to order another drink. When our food came, 2/3 plates were cold, just the mushroom cappelletti was warm. I figure since that's their most popular item it maybe took the longest and our other plates were sitting waiting. The pappardelle was lacking flavor and the shrimps were tiny, Lol. Overall, everything was still tasty, but the bar was so high from previously coming here before they closed & reopened. It's great food, but for the price it should be outstanding. I would give this experience a 3.5/5 but will round up to 4/5 because it pains me to be disappointed with IE! A great spot for a special occasion! I was eager to try ie after it was taken over by travail and I'm happy to report it hasn't changed much. We started with espresso martinis -- crafted fantastically as the foam stays the entire time you are sipping. Next was the mussels, really nice flavor! When I heard ie was closing I was devastated. My boyfriend and I used to live in the area and we came here a handful of times before we moved. Once we moved I would drive 15 min just to get their spaghetti because I loved it so much. So, you can imagine how excited I was when I learned it was reopening! I was surprised by them teaming up with Travail (a restaurant I really enjoyed when I went). I was worried that the entire menu would be totally different but, much to my surprise, it wasn't! I did notice that the prices went up a little bit if I'm remembering correctly. We made reservations and went on a weekday. We were sat immediately and the interior was pretty much the same as I remember from before. It's a great vibe for a date! We ordered the mussels (which we used to be wowed by the size for the price and it used to be one of our top 3 things to get). I could be wrong but I felt as if the portion was smaller and the price was higher. Before, you'd get a LARGE amount of mussles and the lemon butter it was in was DIVINE! We would always ask for extra bread to soak it all up. Sadly, I didn't think they were as good now. They didn't taste as lemony and buttery. I felt as if the taste was much more subdued. The dish was still good but I was definitely a little sad about the change. For our drinks we ordered the Angry Calabrian & the Mules Mistress. We both really enjoyed our cocktails! For our main meals we got the spaghetti & the mushroom cappelletti. I was so beyond excited to have the spaghetti again but to my disappointment, it was not as good. Im not sure what changed but before I swear it was was richer and cheesier. I would devour it in minutes. They also used to use bucatini which is a thicker noodle and I loved it so much but I believe they have switched the type of noodle used. They were cooked perfectly, very garlicky and the bread was toasty and perfect for dunking. I ordered the trottole Cacio e Pepe style. It was delicious. Creamy and salty. Mmmm. The only downside of the meal was our seating. We were along the wall at a little table and the table next to us felt like they were sitting with us and in our conversation. I tried the beef carpaccio and it was too lemony for my husband & I, we scraped off the topping and ate the beef which was yummy. I ordered tomato basil soup which was creamy and perfect. We had the APPLE + ROOT SALAD which looked like it was picked from a backyard garden the day before. We had the DUE SFOGLIA which was so interesting and even more tasty! This is a must. Our first trip back to i.e. after their reopening aka my long awaited reunion with the beloved mushroom cappelletti. The vibe is dim industrial chic mixed with a warm open kitchen modern feel. We made a reservation for 9pm but came at 8:45pm and they were able to seat us early. For an app we got the salmon carpaccio. The salmon was melt-in-your-mouth good and paired well with the italian salsa verde, cucumber, and fried garlic. It was light, fresh, and not too filling for a pasta entree afterwards. I got the mushroom cappelletti and my husband got the caserecce. The mushroom cappelletti is a DREAM. The cappelletti pasta (cousin to tortellini) is cooked perfectly al dente, stuffed with earthy savory mushroom filling, and topped with an indulgent rich cream sauce. I will unfortunately never will try anything else on the menu because ordering something else would be a wasted chance to have my favorite dish again. A must try. For the caserecce the lamb was tender and flavorful and the sauce was the perfect amount of spice. The romano cheese complemented the slight gamey taste of lamb well. For a side we got the baby turnips. The savory sweet sauce they were cooked in complemented both of our dishes well and was way more delicious than we expected. Would get again. For dessert, we got the crostata al limone and the 90 day aged house-made limoncello. If you are a lemon lover this is a perfect combo. For me, the limoncello was a bit of sinus cleansing but cool to try out. The crostata was excellent, I could really taste the pine nuts in the crust and my husband who normally doesn't love citrus desserts was a fan! Our server also got us a scoop of the strawberry Dream Creamery ice cream with a candle in it for our anniversary which was super nice. Service was friendly and top notch as always! I have heard really great things about ie so we had a free evening & put our names down. They grabbed our number but didn't read it back to us, we waited for about 45 minutes before returning to them sharing the text didn't go through and so we missed our table. I was starving at that point and ready to leave when they said they could still fit us in which was very accommodating of them. The vibe is very cozy italian with modern accents. Our server was incredibly kind and attentive with waitstaff helping to fill waters etc. We got a few appetizers that I would highly recommend! Meatballs were so tasty and the bread was soo delicious. I was too hungry to take photos of the entrees but my nephew got the spaghetti nero, my husband the mushroom cappelleti, and I got the bucatini. My husband really enjoyed his dish even though there wasn't a whole lot to eat to be honest, the portion was tiny. My nephews spaghetti had an interesting kick to it that was a surprise but overall pretty good with the seafood. My Bucatini was really terrible and bland.. it was really disappointing and I didn't eat more than three bites before my husband said we could take it home, add some more flavor and he'd try to fix it. First time here and it was an excellent meal. We started with Mussels (with a nummy Limoncello and crusty bread to soak it up). The mussels were a little small but generally tasty. It was nice but didn't pick up much Cedar or char flavor. I also tasted the Lambrusco twist on a Negroni. I loved the balance. For dinner I had the Short rib with a nice fig reduction, roasted root veggies and pine nuts. This tasted just like I hoped that it would. First off, the parking lot is tiny so leave some extra time to park on a neighboring side street. The restaurant is cozy and well taken care off. I went to a 5 pm dinner and the place was already packed! I have a feeling this place is often packed. The menu is small but everything sounded appetizing. The prices are very reasonable compared to many around town so that might explain why it is so popular. I LOVED the Mule's Mistress drink; it's like a traditional mule but with tamarind and pear, and I could really taste the pear flavor. We received truly exceptional service which is so appreciated and not often the case these days. The one negative is the entree I chose.. I went with the spaghetti Nero because I love seafood but it was not good (IMO). The seafood was good and the red sauce was decent but the pasta was gross and smelled bad. I have had plenty of squid ink pasta at other places and have never encountered such foul smelling or tasting pasta. I'm definitely willing to come back and try something different. read more

WOW! This meal was so good it had me planning a trip back to Italy! From the minute we arrived, we felt welcome and were thrilled with the ambiance. We started with the casa ricotta to share, but the fresh bread and butter was equally amazing. The cocktails were refreshing and delicious. For dinner, we asked our waiter Antony for recommendations and settled on the rigatoni and the baked garganelli. Both were absolutely incredible! I was hesitant about the rigatoni at first because truffle can be an overpowering flavor, but it was perfectly balanced with the fennel sausage and cream sauce. Even though we were incredibly full, we had to try the desserts. When in Rome, get the tiramisu! It was absolutely wonderful, the right combination of rich and airy. The house made gelato also did not disappoint. I can't wait for another date night here! read more

Second time to ie and it was even better than I remembered. My wife and I both got the bucatini and it is a 10/10, we also got all 4 sides (potatoes, cauliflower, artichoke and carrots). We couldn't figure out which one we liked the best. They were all amazing, minus the artichoke. I love the vibe of ie although the parking can be a little challenging to find. Very quaint, dark and zen inside. It feels like I am back in Italy. We had excellent service and were treated nicely. Will be returning. read more
