Great ambiance, excellent service. Food was amazing... Smallish place so make sure to get a reservation!

In one word - delightful. With an ever changing menu, attentive staff, and absolutely decadent food, Gia is the perfect addition to South Minneapolis' already vibrant food scene. The interior is clean, simple and intimate with white tablecloths that add an elegance without the presumed stuffiness. Our waitress was excellent, delving into details of each dish on the small, curated menu. We started with the salami plate, with little circles of salty goodness that paired well with the complimentary nuts and crackers delivered to the table. We then moved on to the seasonal bruschetta. Sort of reminded me of Hyacinth, where they have a seasonal sort of bruschetta. Gia's rendition came with two varieties, one set of delicious bread was topped with smashed chickpeas and a squirt of high quality olive oil and the other paired that same olive oil with cooked rapini. The crispiness of the bread, soft and flavorful chickpeas and smooth, flavorful oil made an extraordinary first bite. The mains were standouts. I forget the type of meat in my pasta but it essentially was like a shaved, salty cut of prosciutto but it had an alternative name. The bucatini was cooked perfectly and the bursting tomatoes and fresh cheese on top created a blend of salty, filling goodness. The duck breast with polenta was something special. The tender duck falling off the bone and the creamy polenta packing a subtle flavor played well off one another. Would love to go back just to see how the menu changes with the seasons. Somewhat expensive but I do think the quality proves worthy of the final bill.

LOVED this spot! I came here with a friend and we sat at the bar. We had great service. It's a gorgeous interior. The food and drinks were delicious! I'd love to come back again! This neighborhood has so many options but Gia stands out!

Fun to try this new spot! Got a reservation and sat outside on their patio which is cute. Small very quaint spot! A few parking spots on the side of the building otherwise street parking. We ordered a variety of things to split and enjoyed all of them. Portions were quite small so if you come you'll want multiple things instead of just one entree. The appetizers were really good and then we enjoyed our pastas. The mushroom pasta was nice and creamy, great flavor, however, the mushroom to pasta ratio was way off, way too much mushroom for us! Food was relatively quick and overall service was just okay. Our apps came before drinks but didn't have to wait a long time for anything. Worth a stop to check out this new place!

Gia has weekly menus and I love the surprise of it. It has me looking forward to going back and trying something new each time. Gia is a beautiful little spot that is relaxed and had great service at the bar. I highly recommend making a reservation because the restaurant filled up quickly. The ravioli and risotto tasted magnificent and were both full of flavor! If you are looking for a great meal and drinks add Gia to your list!

Some highlights: -Love that the menu changes weekly (which may account for the hit or miss entrees others are talking about? Loved my pasta dish from our second visit!) -Ambiance is really chill and homey -Service is amazing -Food is a little expensive -Can be crowded and require reservations in advance even on weekdays -Accommodating with kids (have crayons and a kids menu that's prix fixe)

We arrived early to our reservation and had a couple of drinks at the bar as well as the bruschetta app. The bartender was so nice and made the most delicious espresso martini and Aperol spritz! The artichoke bruschetta was delicious and a dun try. I ended up getting the truffle pasta which was also delicious but I did wish there was a bit more truffle flavor coming through in each bite. The food definitely had a French / Italian mix which was fun to try. Finally, the ambiance of the restaurant felt cozy and intimate which I really appreciated.

I wanted to really like this place, but unfortunately it felt too expensive for the value. The pasta was really good, but it's hard to pay 30ish dollars for a pasta dish that didn't make the noodles fresh. I enjoyed everything I ate, but it was underwhelming.

The ambiance of this place is so wonderful. Very calming and cute. The service was very warm and welcoming. Our server was very attentive and nice. I ordered the French 75 and it was perfect! Light and refreshing with a lemon twist. For starters we got the bruschetta, which was amazing! It reminded me and my group, of something we always get in Albania. The cheese was creamy and complemented the tomatoes, I got the pork chop with greens and a cream sauce with pine nuts. The pork chop was super tender and juicy. We also got the chocolate nemesis cake and the strawberry frangipane tart which was to die forrrr. The house roasted almond ice cream was also stunning. This was an expensive meal but an absolute treat!

Most items are or can be made gluten free! The menu changes frequently but staff are friendly and super knowledgeable about all of the dishes. We had a pork chop dish and an arctic char dish, both of which were excellent. About half of the desserts were gluten free when we went as well! Great cocktail menu and cozy, chic interior.

I secured a Friday night reservation opening week. Unfortunately, Gia falls short of my expectations. I walked out of that space having dined at the previous French restaurant that was there and left disappointed for the first time ever. The new space has been renovated well. A fresh brighter ambiance with new paint and nice lighting. The fresh flowers on the table are also a nice touch. Will keep this short and sweet. Service was very good. Food was very subpar(especially for the price). Everyone in our group felt the same. Recipes tasted mediocre and two items were noticeably overcooked . Entrees seemed to miss an ingredient or two to ignite flavor and excitement. Spent over $700 for a group of four people for food that was at a level that not only myself but friends and family members already prepare for us at home.

Service was great and food was good, but nothing jumped out to me as a "must get again". We got the bagna cauda with anchovy, garlic & winter crudités, which is just root veggies with a pate like sauce (personally wouldn't order again). They ran out of the mushroom spaghetti that I wanted that night, which I was bummed about, but did enjoy my risotto and salmon. The menu does change every week so may come back again in the future. Cute spot if you want to chat over wine, but it is a little small inside.

The service is top notch...fresh silverware and plates with every course, consistently filled water, servers that are around but not overbearing, and courses that come out with exquisite timing! We enjoyed an appetizer, a few bruschettas, and a few pastas on our most recent visit. Arancini were the perfect start: crispy, creamy, and a little spice from the sauce! Chicken Liver Mousse Bruschetta was the weak point in the meal as it just seemed to be lacking a component that balanced the richness of the mousse. The Crispy Pork Shoulder and Carrot Bruschetta was VERY salty, but I kinda enjoyed how it would make my mouth water, quenched by the creamy carrot puree. The Gnocchi are little pillows of heaven, and the orange sauce is such a pleasant surprise. The real star for me was the Mushroom Agnolotti: little pillows of creamy, mushroomy goodness topped with a plethora of additional mushrooms. Chef's kiss. Can't wait to come back again and again!

Being the middle of winter, we sat inside. It's not an overly large restaurant so be prepared to wait during busier meal times (like dinner on the weekends). Our waitress was very nice, answered our questions, and helped us select the perfect wine. Shortly after ordering our wine, they brought out a complimentary bread basket which was delicious! We asked for butter and more of the foccaccia because it was SO good. For our mains, we got the Greek Salad, Ravioli Di Zucca, and Spaghetti Con Polpette. WOW! I don't have a single complaint. The greek salad was flavorful with all the mixed vegetables and dressed perfectly. The Ravioli Di Zucca was buttery and delicious and the Spaghetti Con Polpette was probably the best spaghetti and meatballs we've ever had. Somehow we had room for dessert and opted for the Tiramisu. It was good, not great. I didn't love that it was cut in the shape of a pie vs. a square -- Something about that threw me off. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend going to Broaders' Pasta Bar! Travail purchased this restaurant and reopened last year. Here are my ratings of each item that our group ordered. Cocktails: Seasonal Spritz - 8.5 - so beautifully sharp and carbonated, reminded me a little of sangria Vilo - 6.8 - very unique flavor cocktail. I'm not a grapefruit lover and found this to be little bitter. They were out of the Mule's Mistress which is the cocktail I wanted to try. Food: Bread - 8.8/10 - Butter was very good and creamy, pretty standard bread but super fresh and I kept coming back for more. Roman Meatballs - 9.3-10 - This was the best thing I ate all night. Perfectly cooked, amazing pomodoro sauce. We were talking about how if we came back we'd get spaghetti with these meatballs. Apple + Root Salad - 9.1/10 - Probably the surprise of the night. Everyone loved this salad and we ordered two. The lemon vinaigrette dressing, strips of apple were all so refreshing and great flavor. 720 Day Prosciutto Burrata - 7.7/10 - The burrata didn't have the typical soft, creamy texture I'm used to, but good flavor along with decent grilled bread. I'm not a prosciutto fan usually but the aging did make this better and less salty. Mostly rating on behalf of the burrata. Rigatoni - 8.0 - This tasted good with vodka sauce and sausage, however I found the noodle to be a little floppy and would have preferred more al dente. Came in expecting this to be my favorite. Calabrian Cauliflower - 7.0 - Pretty good, a little spicy, maybe overdone with the sauce. Heirloom Potatoes - 5.0 - This was the most unusual experience of the night. How could anything go wrong with a potato? Well, the "Nduja aioli" ruined the dish for me. Maybe some kind of spice that didn't agree with my palette but others didn't mind it so take that as you will. Again, could have used less suace. Mushroom Cappelletti - 8.5 - Another surprise of the night is that this was my favorite of the pastas we tried. Very creamy, white sauce. Mushrooms are not typically one of my go-to's but the whiskey age shoyu, creme fraiche really elevated this dish. Couldn't eat a whole plate because of how rich it was but high marks. Bucatini - 7.9 - Enjoyed the nice chewy texture of the pasta, otherwise solid, nothing particularly noteworthy. Service was good, very attentive to allergy considerations in our group. No complimentary dessert for birthday :P Good atmosphere, not too crowded or loud. Friendly staff all around. The reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is because the pasta doesn't blow me away which I would think would be the star as an Italian restaurant. I'm using Bar La Grassa as the standard for pasta which is may be a high bar. I'd still recommend visiting!

But there has also been press in the past about the owner closing another restaurant possibly in order to avoid unionization of the employees. Who knows what's really going on. But what are they going to do with the big copper pizza oven and all the other installations?

I knew that I had to come because the Korean Chef was crowned a James Beard award. So, I had fairly…read morehigh expectations coming in. When my friend and I walked in, we came into a fairly spacious dimly lit space with loads of people inside. We were immediately informed that there would be over 1.5hr wait for a walk-in table. We were given the option to wait for bar seating as it would probably be quicker - and surely, it was. We did have to wait quite a bit, but it was a tolerable amount of time and definitely less than what it would have taken for an actual table. My friend and I decided to share 2 pizza pies as we wanted to get a taste of two different flavors, so we eventually settled on Korean BBQ & Perfect Pickle Pie. KOREAN BBQ As it was created by a Korean chef, it definitely had true authentic Korean flavors. As a Korean myself, I was very familiar with this soy vinaigrette and have tried this on many salad before - so, it was hitting home for me. Also, you can't go wrong with the bulgogi/beef short ribs known to all those who had Korean BBQ before. The combination of the sauces that they use for this pizza is definitely very rich, full of umami. I personally enjoyed it. PERFECT PICKLE PIE This pie was a totally different flavor to the Korean BBQ. It's less rich and maybe can be overpowered or considered more bland compared to other pizza flavors. But when tried together with the BBQ, it balances out the richness of the BBQ with the more subtle/less umami flavors. This pie gives more of a tangy/sour taste that pickles provide and more of a crunch due to the chips that are added on top. The dill is present, but not overpowering. It's a nice low-key kind of taste that people who like pickles will enjoy. Overall, the flavors were very rich in every pizza pie that we had that our mouths were bursting with flavor. It was definitely the most unique pizza toppings that I've had and can see why it's so highly regarded. I can tell that they really are meticulous with their every process and that their pizza guy by the wood fire oven is expertise in what he does. My friend and I walked out quite satisfied and I was honestly more full than I expected.
